Can't believe the Spurs are tanking so bad, it's like they suddenly decided to pull an '07 Mavs.

For whatever reason a lot of people never really bought into the Spurs in general this year.

Memphis is really giving the Spurs the business.

It would make me feel a lot better if the Mavericks weren't the only top team to get ousted by an #8 seed. Almost enough to make up for them probably getting knocked out of the first round again.

Mavs are up in this game and will probably win it. I still think they have a good shot at winning their series if they win tonight.

I think the bulls for whatever reason are playing down to the level of their competition in the Indiana series. Which isn't great but I think its way too early to over-react. The Hawks always matched up well with the Magic who are an underachieving and fundamentally broken team themselves. It's going to take a lot more to convince me that the hawks can beat the bulls.

I don't buy the "playing down" excuse – that seemed to be a running excuse given to the Cavs whenever they were the playoffs the last few years.  Simply put, they have two or three star players and an average cast around them, much like the 60+ win seasons the Cavs had with Lebron.

I know the same can be said for the Heat this year, but the Heat's bench isn't as bad as the Cavs were in the past.

I still think the Bulls go to the conference finals, but I'm not really convinced that they'll reach the overall finals.  I see it being either the Celtics or Heat.

Fundamentally I think there is a major difference between the Cavs of years past and the Chicago Bulls. I think they are a much better basketball squad despite however many games those Cleveland teams won those years. Now if the bulls get upset by Atlanta in the next round then that says something about the argument you are making and I'll give you props.

No, they'll fail somehow. If they do win, it'll only be so they can fool me into getting my hopes up so that they can crush them again at a later date.

Hell of a game between the Nugs and Thunder.  Wish they didn't have to take each other out in the first round.

Nugs - Thunder was fun, but man, Westbrook took some baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad shots there. The lane was wide open on one of them, and he retreated outside the arc for a 3. Then he airballed a 3 on their last possession.

Normally I feel like I know the result of every opening round series but I am *still* not sure I know how a few of these will go. I think the Spurs will likely lose. The biggest difference in their game vs the regular season is that their 3pt shooters are being properly closed out on, so their main weapon has been nullified. Tony Allen and Battier are HELL ON WHEELS on the perimeter. If you or I were playing out there, we couldn't even receive a pass I bet. So the likes of Matt Bonner has gone from being a fairly serious player to an absolute waste of playing time. Manu and Parker are having to work like crazy to create anything, and they are wearing down. Whereas the Grizz are having a very easy time creating shots because Randolph has suddenly started playing like Vlade Divac, hitting cutters from the low post. In addition to of course dominating on the offensive glass and scoring at will. 5 or 6 years ago Duncan wouldn't have even felt him or Gasol in there, but now they are just walling him up and he can't do much about it. Great regular season team, poor playoff team.

I don't want to count the Spurs out, but they look beat. At this point, they have no tricks left to try. The Grizz are handling everything they can throw at them, with ease.

Dallas - Portland should go 7, but I still give the Blazers the edge. It's looking like the Roy game was indeed a fluke though. I'm sure they will be going back to Aldridge big-time for game 6.

Hornets - Lakers tomorrow :hyper

(The Hawks have no fucking shot of getting out of the 2nd round. None! Get that shit out of here :lol)

Great game, full of nice runs from both teams. Dirk still the man. Aldridge gradually faded throughout the series, which is what I thought let Dallas take it. If he had continued beasting, the Blazers would have been in great shape no matter what Dallas threw at them. I think the Roy Game might have hurt his confidence. It definitely put the ball back in Roy's hands, and sent Andre Miller to the bench (meaning that Aldridge didn't get anywhere near as many quality looks, and no more oops). Oh well. I was entertained!

Last year I would have said that a series like that would be close. This year? I just don't think so. Durant's better than ever, Westbrook is vastly improved, and Ibaka's going crazy out there. I just don't see the Griz putting up a really big fight.

I mean, they did beat the Spurs up pretty bad, but that's probably more of an age thing than the Griz actually having more talent on the court. The Spurs are oooooooold.

Damn, definitely feel bad for McDyess, who's been chasing a ring for awhile now. He almost got one in Detroit but got dicked over by team implosion/wide open Robert Horry. I've watched maybe four NBA games this season (half of them on Christmas) so I'm no expert nor am I bragging, but it seemed like the Spurs were too old/injured to breeze through the regular season and have much left for the playoffs.

The Grizzlies are playing EASILY the best defense of any team left in the playoffs. Including Chicago and Boston. The OKC series will be a cage match.

Oh how I wish the Grizz were drawing the Lakers next. That would have scared the crap out of the Lake show. Instead they get the Mavs, who will get picked apart. Oh well.

I realized how crazy the situation was when the Spurs started running their offense through whichever of Parker and Ginobili were being guarded by Shane Battier, because that was the easier matchup compared to Tony Allen.

Also, Zach Randolph goddamn.
