It was so sweet to wear my Clippers shirt to the gym today.  Many of the Lakers fans are already freaking out after yesterday's loss to the Clippers.  Either they whine about Stern or insist that they need to get Dwight.

You're a little to optimistic for a Clippers' fan.

Well, I still want to see Lebron get his 1st ring + Finals MVP really bad.  The Clippers thing is more to annoy the Lakers fan.  I also wore a Clippers jersey after the CP3 trade went bad for the Lakers, even before there were talks of the Clips getting CP3.

Cormac, did you watch the Clippers/Lakers game yesterday?  D Jordan threw down a ridiculous facial on Bynum and Gasol.  Ball was at least at the top of the box.

Blake's D was kinda disappointing though.  Gasol pretty much got whatever shot he wanted.  I was hoping that he would be just as beastly on the defensive end this year.  Looks like it'll take a little while longer.

None of the pre-season games are on league pass, which is a rip (they showed 'em last year...).

For some reason, the stat guys don't project Blake to be a defensive force any time soon. You'd think he's be an awesome shotblocker but, like rebounding, that really does seem to be a skill as much an athletic feat. The light may go on, it may not. Certainly there are plenty of guys that I've expected for years to be hell on wheels defensively that never became even average defenders.

The Explosively Athletic Power Forward doesn't seem to be as great a defensive archetype as the Lanky, Long-Armed Center.  Andrew Bogut's apparently developed into a top-notch defender (I never see Bucks games) despite not being the greatest leaper.

I could definitely see Blake getting some of those LeBron-style highlight swats from the weakside, though.

Well, there are a billion guys with less athleticism and height who defend way better than Blake. Chuck Hayes and Shane Battier leap to mind. If he can learn the schemes and move his feet, he can be average. If he can do that and give the same effort he does on offense (as LeBron does), he could be spectacular surely.

If I have the starting lineup and math correct, the average age of the Mavericks' starting lineup is 34 and will rise to 34.67 by the Finals.

Deng's feet definitely touched the floor before he passed the ball. Refs screwed the Lakers on that play but I don't care. I was hoping that they'd lose.

Offense was really poor. Lots of many lost shot opportunities, they shut down Dwight better than I thought they would though.

25 minutes tonight.
2-8
9 pts.

His salary is $22 million this year.

What must that feel like? I'm serious. Do you feel like fuck yeah. I'm getting over. Is there a little bit of embarrassment. Or is he just numb to the whole thing and its like going into a crappy job you hate and you just can't wait for the weekends...

One play you'll see variations off on a lot of highlight reels this year: Kevin Love outlets, Rubio streaks, finds Derrick Williams for a dunk or lay-up. It's money. Ridnour won't start for more than another 5-10 games, if that, I bet.

Really liking the Wolves' core, strangely. There's plenty there for Adelman to work with, and he's installed a bunch of his trademark hand-offs, triple screens, and back-door cuts already. He needs some shooters though, ugh.

Yeah, I was genuinely like BUH when I saw him in the starting line-up. Congrats to him for ekeing out a decently long career but jeez, he has been out of his depth in the NBA since day one.

Durant is in playoff form already. I think he may be the only person in the NBA who still has their jumper working.

yeah

Miami really has found their identity now. They're not hamstrung by Bibby and half-dead centers like Big Z anymore and can actually run. This is some serious Showtime shit. Last night we had the play where LeBron goes up for the oop, then passes it, tonight he lobs it to Wade for 20+ feet out, who misses, then LeBron comes in for the rebound and the basket. Ridiculous. Much as I want the Celtics to win, it's not happening against this juggernaut. LeBron and Wade don't have to do a thing from the perimeter with this offense, which means insanely high-percentage shots most of the time. I haven't seen a team that looks remotely this good yet :'(
