He's right, there is some severe euro hate amongst certain NBA fans. Actually NBA fandom is full of stuff that is quietly racist and nationalistic.

One final note: San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich was asked about Ricky Rubio. Specifically, how difficult it would be for him to adjust to American culture. Popovich's response was classic: "These guys, they travel around the world," Popovich said of international players like Rubio and his own Manu Ginobili. "They're more cultured than we are. Everyone acts like Americans are the ones... we have sort of an arrogance about us. Like we're the cultured ones? Are you serious? Have you watched TV lately? Have you seen what Americans do? How many languages do you speak? And you wonder how they're going to adjust to our culture? I hope they avoid it and keep their own!"

Popovich's response was a non-sequitur. It's as if he thinks "adjust to" equates to "assimilate."

It's amazing how much they bend over to kiss Kobe's ass in LA. These are the quotes after that awful Kobe shooting game earlier.

Quote
Brown, who said he "coached a bad game," wished Bynum and Gasol were utilized in the post more often.

Quote
"I put the onus on me on that, being a little tired and not getting down the court," Bynum said after finishing with 18 points on 7-for-12 shooting to go with 16 rebounds in his second game back from a four-game suspension to start the season. "If I get down the court first I have to get the ball. So, I need to make that happen in order to get the ball."

Quote
"We always start inside-out," Bryant said, when asked about Bynum and Pau Gasol's effectiveness on offense. "If you mean (to ask me) if I'm going to shoot less, the answer is no. It starts with me. I do what I do and we play off of that. That's not going to change."

Brown backed up Bryant's stance after their impromptu film session. Brown said he had watched cut-ups of a game tape with LeBron James when he coached the Cleveland Cavaliers, but never watched a full game tape all the way through with his prized pupil.

"When you look at (6-for-28 in the box score), you think 'Oh my gosh, there's got to be a ton of bad shots,'" Brown said. "But if you go back and watch the game you see some of the shots he took, there were a lot of shots he took -- (I know) because I coached against him -- he normally makes."

I mean you can't make that shit up. Kobe has that entire franchise on castration lockdown.

Ostertag in D-League:

Quote
Ostertag became the oldest player in the D-League when he joined the Texas Legends earlier in the week and, in a move that wasn't at all surprising, the 38-year-old looked that way when he took the court for the D-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. The longtime center for the Utah Jazz scored just two points in 17 minutes of court time while fouling four times to almost offset the 11 rebounds he hauled in for the losing team.

It's obvious that Ostertag plans to play his way in to shape over the next two weeks leading up to the make-or-break D-League Showcase, but as the picture at left shows, he isn't exactly in shape as of yet. His conditioning was most apparent when getting beat in the paint -- the fouls he picked up came as a result of this -- but there were numerous times when the Legends pushed the ball up court only to find themselves going 4-on-5 as Ostertag lumbered his way back on the offensive end.

Khloe Kardashian does not look good sitting next to her sister, Kim, at the Mavs game. With Kim in the house it means a basketball player is going to get laid tonight. It won't be Nash, Gortat, Nowitzki or Cardinal, obviously.

Dirk is playing in his 1000th career regular season game, but he's not among the top ten active players.

1.    Jason Kidd    1273
2.    Kevin Garnett    1201
3.    Juwan Howard    1177
4.    Derek Fisher    1117
5.    Kobe Bryant    1110
6.    Ray Allen    1108
7.    Steve Nash    1095
8.    Tim Duncan    1058
9.    Ben Wallace    1031
10.    Kurt Thomas    1023

I haven't seen the ESPN coverage for obvious reasons but I did see that game, and it was a huge one, as has been every game LeBron has played this season pretty much. Why is it weird to make a big fuss about the best player in the league? I get that no-one will give him any credit until he scores 50 on a broken leg to sweep the Lakers in the finals playing 1 on 5 but you can understand that it's still the biggest story ESPN had in the NBA yesterday, right?

...and the next closest is Kevin Love, at 29.85.

As good as Chris Paul is, and how much fuss was made over him, he's at 23.75. This is probably LeBron's peak. He's playing in the post a TON, and is basically unstoppable from there. (minor rant: I swear to god, most viewers don't even recognize 'post play' when they see it. Unless it's super-obvious like Shaq or Z-Bo, players just don't get credit for it. Yes, you can play 'in the post' while simultaneously facing the basket! And it extends beyond the paint! /rant)

Bynum is beasting. I think this schedule makes it highly unlikely he'll make it to the playoffs intact though. Seeing Kobe rubbing that wrist makes me wince too. He shouldn't be playing this much, on top of all the other injuries he has accumulated (isn't the finger on his shooting hand basically permanently jammed now?)

Did you watch the MIA-ATL game on league pass? it's hilarious how they cut back from ad breaks earlier on nba.tv sometimes and the commentators are talking when they aren't "on the air" yet. Barkley was like "I hate watching this Atlanta team. They're a terrible team. All they have is a team full of nice guys." :lol

Luckily for me I can switch teams at the drop of a hat without conscience, me not being American and all. But basically every team is playing below its potential right now, even the likes of the Bulls, Heat and Thunder. No fucking way should the Mavs be at 0.375% or whatever it is right now. It's hard to take these games seriously. So I'm floating around watching a bunch of different games trying to see all the 'interesting' teams (contenders or significantly changed teams...) but just not seeing anything compelling. Oh well, hopefully the better teams will reach typical 'mid-season' form by the start of the playoffs :lol

I hate the way the NBA fucks over the ipad to try to push their shitty app. So if go to the youtube app and try to play any video from the official nba youtube site you get a pop-up that says: "The author of this video does not allow playback on ipad". Disgusting.

Also the NBA has two apps. One for the iphone and the other for the ipad. The iphone version you can buy a mobile version of the league pass for $40 bucks. It's low quality phone shit but whatever. The ipad app though has no version of the mobile pass. So you have the buy the traditional cable package and then you can also stream to the ipad. So you save no money essentially. I get why they do this but still it makes the ipad app essentially useless for me.

It's not that way internationally, I've got the same app on iPhone and iPad

Only thing I don't like with the mobile versions is that I cant find a way to watch a game in progress from the start, and it seems that the completed games don't go into the archive soon enough.
