The Celtics are so horrible even I'm having trouble watching. I am being lured away by the Clippers and the Grizz. Will try a few Bucks games since pilonv1 seems keen. I'm averaging 3 full games a day so far :lol    My schedule is just PERFECT for NBA addiction - the games start around the time my fam leaves for the day, the 360 goes on soon afterwards, and I just leave it on 'til I've seen all the games I want to see. I pity US fans who have to jump around between games 'cause they're all on at the same time.

Bucks are so much fun. <3 Udoh & Sanders.

My schedule sucks for watching live. I'd be watching more games but the gf had a bit of a complain about it last weekend when I'd been watching live since 8pm EST and the Warriors game which started at 10:30pm EST went into double OT. Love switching between games on weekends.

Do you feel a little gypped that the Game Time app doesn't have cheevs though? I'd max that shit out for real. Clippers did work against the Spurs again last night...Chris Paul has most of his athleticism back now. He even dunked in transition last night, which i haven't seen him do in years.

ALthough it is kinda funny how he ALWAYS calls his own number in tight games, despite his rep as the 'consummate point guard who makes everyone better'....he just goes one on one and takes a long 2 pointer most of the time. He's really fucking good at it though. His handle is just so amazing

Simmons always describes Paul as keeping his teammates involved and engaged for 46 minutes, then taking over in the last 2, which sounds about right.

And yeah, "improving teammates by sharing the ball" sounds like something the quant nerds would debunk, but seeing a couple hundred of the Wizards' Arenas-era games make me give it a bit of credence.  I'd expect to see teammates of Paul or Nash show livelier movement off the ball and more readiness to receive a pass, at least.

It's weird that he can spent the game getting teammates easy looks, then insists on taking a difficult shot himself though. It's ego, it has to be. But as I said, he is really fucking good at it - his 4Q PER last year was 41 or something insane....And the Clips are so good this year that he won't be in many of those tight games. Bledsoe is a BEAST right now, just a beast. He'll be ready to start - they might have real problems holding onto him. OTOH, if Paul bolts in free agency. Bledsoe can take over. (I have no expectations for Billups - after the Achilles goes, players are usually done. I don't know why everyone talks like him coming back is going to be a big deal).

To be fair, it's not just CP.  Your Best Player Has To Take The Last Shot In A Close Game is probably the last thing that the quant geeks will kill, if they ever do.  It's not just the elite players who seem to think that, but the coaches and sports media too.

I mean, San Antonio might actually run a set play to get a good shot at the end of a game, but that's the Spurs.

Great. I only ever have bad video when using this little Acer net-top I have. On a good PC/Mac, 360 or iPad it's almost always great. The 360 is fast becoming the only way I watch it though...they just need a few more tweaks and it will be perfect.

btw, for pilonv1 and any other users of the NBA Game Time app on the 360 - it got updated the other day and all my major issues with it have been fixed. No games are blacked out for me (so far...) and replays actually work, rather than just showing the 'GAME HAS ENDED title card endlessly. So booyah. It's such a killer app I may even get a new 360 'cause my old one is so noisy.

nice

i was actually just watching everything through a computer i have hooked up to the PC and that was working well enough

Quote
PHILADELPHIA—Speaking to reporters after suffering a setback with lingering injuries, 76ers center Andrew Bynum admitted Wednesday that the intense pain in his knees was completely worthwhile considering all the misery it’s causing the Philadelphia fanbase. “I’d easily take a full season of this to just keep watching all these assholes crying and whining on message boards,” said Bynum, adding that every bitching sports talk radio host makes him wish he could go through surgery all over again. “Do you think I would have admitted that I hurt myself while bowling if it wasn’t this fun to make these Philly fans suffer? God, this is way better than trying to bring these awful people a championship.” As of press time, the Eagles have announced they will re-sign head coach Andy Reid to a four-year deal just to see the look on their fucking fans’ faces.

that game was a bit of a disappointment.  brooklyn had a meh 1st half and average second half.  Portland just seemed to give up in the second.

the new center is nice, but jesus christ too much Biggie Kanye and Jay-Z as game music.  Thank god there are so many hip hop tracks that mention Brooklyn by name making the "djs" job much easier but it felt like i was stuck in a hot97 set the way they kept playing the same song snippets over and over and over again.

First time doing this fantasy thing and I need a 2nd opinion. Which trade would be better: giving up Wade for Calderon and Scola or for Calderon and Gallinari? A third option would be Evan Turner and Iguodala but that's my least favorite at the moment.

I never wanted Wade in the first place. I wasn't near a computer for my first pick and he's what the gave me. :-\

Those first two trades are pretty terrible. The Turner/Iguodala one is much better since both play regular minutes.

But it just depends on what stats you need, the rest of your team and what scoring system you are using.

I'm not even sure if he'll agree to give up Turner/Iggy. I know the first dude is willing to give up those 3 players though. He's already made 2 offers since the season started.

Very cool move by Pop. What's the downside? The organization budgets for his fines I'm sure, so it's no skin off his ass. Tired starters are often worse than their bench, especially on a team like the Spurs that runs deep and runs very specific team offensive and defensive schemes.

The upside is fucking huge though - having your bench potentially beat Miami on their court on TNT. It is still a tight game!

Wade is actually a great example of a tired/injured starter being a liability vs the bench - he just can't do the stuff he thinks he can do, and it's killing Miami.

Offensively Miami has been amazing this year but defensively they've been pretty meh which is partially due to them not playing bigs very many minutes this year.

And Wade is obviously still a great player but I think this is the first year where people are kind of clearly seeing he is not at his peak anymore.

I am suspicious about his running form, actually. He's as bad a heel striker as I've seen in the NBA, that has to have something to do with all those injuries. LeBron on the other hand, runs really lightly and efficiently and is never injured.

some old-school Converse hightops would do the trick. I strongly suspect that highly padded basketball shoes are like boxing gloves (which despite being designed to protect the opponent, let you punch harder by protecting your hands, counterintuitively) - they let you jump higher by cushioning the shock when you fall, but that actually leads to more injuries in the long run. But I wouldn't be lining up to try it over 82 games on a hardwood floor.
