Pierce snubbed for the ASG, seems salty about it

Kinda hard to reward a 20-21 with three picks. I mean he is as qualified if more so than George but I like the new blood pick.

Thing is George hasn't even done it for a whole season. I mean, it looks like he has arrived but Pierce is still carrying his team in scoring. Agreed that 3 Celtics would be ridiculous. I don't think Rondo or KG should be starting either. Irving and Lopez should have been starting and reserves respectively with Rondo a reserve and KG not there at all over Noah, Chandler and Lopez...(KG wouldn't have given a shit at this point i think).

Damn, 8th for Bosh, 2 more than Melo

I hear a lot that Bosh is not a future HOFer but it's gonna be hard to keep him out if he hits 10

if he sticks with LeBron and gets 3 or 4 more rings, he's a shoo-in

The HoF is a joke of course though...the NBA really needs their own with stricter criteria. I mean it's great that you were the first woman coach of a high school team but come on, you're not famous, you're not a player, no-one cares

Can't watch the Clips-Suns game. A full game of Reggie Miller and Charles Barkley spouting every platitude and generalization under the sun would have my ears bleeding.

Reggie is one my favorite players of all time and seems like a genuinely nice and smart person as a human being. But when he commentates it's just,  :poop

Charles I can only take in doses which is why he works in the studio but not during games.

yeah, Reggie has been terrible pretty much from the start

I always wonder how he doesn't get fired or relegated to smaller markets to hone his craft.  Most people must be watching with sound off or at loud sports bars.

big name, I guess.

I normally get the local announcers on League Pass though, so at least Reggie has some personality. My dream team is probably Mike Breen or Marv with Hubie and Chris Webber. Hubie is on my 'Would kill to have dinner with' list. I'd just be like Waiter, your finest wines! Hubie, talk to me about ball

I've watched the Warriors play several times and their record still amazes me.  Steph Curry and Klay Thompson could barely guard bar stools and there's no shotblocker behind them.  Their PT differential is also an unimpressive +1.4.  I think Warriors will come back down to earth in the 2nd half, much like the Knicks did after their hot start.

Marv with Hubie Brown would rock my World.

Along with the old TNT studio show before they kind of let all the success get to their heads.

Leave it to the Cavs to make a trade that will improve them just enough to potentially miss the lottery.

I guess the draft is supposed to be pretty shit, so it won't matter.

I'm a big Rondo fan so the news rather sucks for me.  All my fun to watch PGs are hurt. Rondo is straight out. Rubio isn't 100% and can't get regular minutes. Paul isn't "hurt" hurt, but he does miss games at a time and has never been fully healthy for years. Nash missed most of the early season and obviously can't play a full season anymore. Kidd is in early retirement.

The Lakers play better when Kobe dishes the ball and not just looks for his own offense and they become completely one dimensional. What a shock.

It's all psychological mumbo jumbo but yeah I do believe players play better all around when they are involved in the game. It's just kind of human nature. And it can't be good for an offense when 4 of the 5 guys know they aren't relevant for a good portion of the offense.

That being said it was 2 home games and the thunder were closing out a long road trip. But in general I  think Kobe shooting a bit less helps diversify that offense.

I find Dwight Howard as annoying as anybody but I'm not sure how fair it is to have an announcer pretty much out for you. (Not that everything Van Gundy is saying is wrong. I agree with him about Howard's offense) Every Lakers game, he goes after Howard with a vengeance. I don't remember him doing this when Howard was with the Magic.

Rose and Rondo dislike each other greatly. Although maybe they can bond over the injury or something. Wade and Rondo are notorious for their dislike also but Wade seemed upset about his injury.

Quote
By the early moments of the third quarter, various media outlets were reporting the Celtics feared he had suffered a torn ACL.

That's when I went looking for some answers.

As I walked into the back hallway where the Celtics' locker room is located, I found Rondo himself, who was just returning to the Garden from the hospital. He was dressed in shorts and a pair of slides and moving easily, seemingly without pain.

"Hey," I told him, "people are reporting you have a torn ACL."

"Who said that?" Rondo responded. "A torn ACL? I don't even have the results yet. I'm going to see the doc right now."

As he ambled toward the locker room, he asked, "Could I be walking around like this with a torn ACL?"

"Yes," I answered. "Guys have played with torn ACLs before."

"I don't feel that bad," Rondo said. "I don't feel like I have something that serious, but I've never had one before. All I know is my leg felt funny."

He stopped in front of the locker room. I asked him how hard it was to sit out of the Miami game, which included the celebrated return of former teammate Ray Allen.

"Hell, I hate missing it," he said. "I wanted this one really bad."

Rondo disappeared into the locker room at 2:38 p.m. Three minutes later, Celtics public relations director Jeff Twiss emerged with the official diagnosis: a torn ACL, done for the season, surgery imminent.

His teammates played on, oblivious that their long-term fortunes had just suffered a serious blow. The Heat also were unaware of Rondo's plight -- until 2:50 p.m., when Dwyane Wade left the court and entered the visiting locker room, presumably to use the facilities.

"What's going on?" he asked me as he walked by.

"Rondo has a torn ACL," I answered.

"No, please. Don't tell me that," Wade said with a grimace. "Oh, that's awful. Now listen, we have a bad history, but I never wish that on anyone."

Wade passed on the news to his bench. When James Jones also retreated to the locker room in the third quarter, he offered, "Tough break for Boston. Sorry about Rondo."

The grim news of Rondo's injury passed like a wave through the stands of the capacity crowd, which, in spite of Boston's spirited play, remained subdued. Included among those fans were New England Patriots players Patrick Chung and Donte Stallworth, who stood in the hallway commiserating with each other.

So depressed reading nothing but 'Blow up the Celtics' articles. Ray leaving was one thing but trading away PIERCE? And KG?! :gloomy

Ainge is cold-blooded though, he will pull the trigger even if all the Celtics get in return is some shitty picks. I suppose it is enticing to imagine KG and Pierce on championship contenders...imagine KG on OKC or Pierce on the Clippers (Bledsoe and Billups would get it done maybe...haven't checked but there is surely some combo of Grant Hil, Billups, Barnes, Willie Green and Bledsoe that the Clips would happily give up...)
