It has to be tough to find the negatives for the Heat tonight but ...golf clap

He's always been one of my pet peeve hate players. I don't get many opportunities to express my hate of him.

His inability to be even average in his current role is astonishing, and yet another reminder how insane the Wizards were to believe he could be a centerpiece

most of this game should show these NBA analysts that pontificate about the MVP race how much of a gap there should be between Lebron and Durant.  KD will still probably win, but he really shouldn't.

I will say this: find me a "top 3 point shooter in the league" who wasn't also one of the top FT shooters. That's why I'm skeptical that LeBron can maintain that once he can no longer jump over everyone.

A lot of those points came when the game was out of hand. LeBron didn't outplay Durant dramatically though. The real story is that Miami took 88 shots to OKC's 73, due largely to the fact that Miami had a 13-5 offensive rebound advantage, and made 11/29 threes, which is pretty good (113.7 points/100). OKC's parade to the charity stripe couldn't overcome those two issues.

dude...

look at the FG %

I'm also inclined to say that the story of the game was Miami's defense and a corresponding lack of adjustment on the part of OKC

I'll admit it now. I'm finally bored with the Lakers. They just suck and enjoying that they suck was fun for a good long while but now its just old. Even if they somehow made it in the playoffs they would get crushed anyway. I think I've milked as much enjoyment out of them as I can.

You can't have too much of a good thing

Also, being in Lakertown, I know that most of them are still delusional and think they can win it all if they make the playoffs

I don't really fault Jordan for the Kwame pick; nearly every team would have drafted him in that situation.
I don't know about that. I could be misremembering, but a lot of teams had Chandler, Curry and Gasol higher than him on their board and I don't think Brown was shooting up anybodies but the Wizards until Eddie Griffin tanked. Jordan turned down Brand for the pick and basically everyone agreed that was dumb. IIRC, Jordan refused to ever consider taking Gasol.

That draft was great. Rodney White as the "most talented player" in it. Kedrick Brown with a lottery guarantee from  his amazing community college performances. Stern practically orgasming when Battier was finally drafted. Almost every unskilled but seven foot center that's bounced around the league for the last decade.

lol at this:
Quote
If Jordan was looking for a competitor reminiscent of himself, he saw glimpses of one that June day as the 6'11", 250-pound Brown repeatedly lowered his thick shoulders and dismantled the 235-pound Chandler one-on-one. When the Wizards said they had seen enough, Brown walked over to Jordan, his hero, and vowed, "If you draft me first, I'll never disappoint you." Before turning away, the teenager offered a prediction for a one-on-one showdown in the not-so-distant future: "And I'll beat you."

Dunno. Brown was the best high school player that year, and had a better offensive game than Chandler and Curry at the time; I remember reading about him dominating Chandler multiple times pre-draft.

Rodney White, another great Joe Dumars draft pick. Although I guess he did draft Mehmet Okur that year too tho :bow

dominated him in closed door one-on-one match-ups....which proved not to be Chandler's game anyway. Really, can you remember Kwame Brown ever dominating him in the pros? Or anyone else? Either Chandler got better fast or Brown was never that good

I remember some scouts questioning if Brown could ever be a serious post player because he had bad hands and bad footwork. Curry was obviously a natural prodigy in that regard.

Kwame's upside was his size and athleticism, he was bigger than Chandler and more athletic than Curry.

The best draft hype was Darko's. Legit NBA size and toughness with Toni Kukoc's shooting and ball handling.  :drool

I remember some Piston fan forums where people were all "Larry Brown wanted Melo" and then people would point out how Brown also thought Jared Jeffries was a future superstar. All the Pistons needed was a tough big man who could stretch defenses and they'd have a title! That part was true sorta.

I argued with this one guy over Billups vs. Atkins, he felt the Pistons should start Atkins and not sign Billups because Atkins had put in the time as a Piston and Billups was a benchwarming journeyman the Pistons were going to massively overpay. Good times.

Wasn't Chandler much skinnier back then?  Kwame had a more NBA ready body but that doesn't mean he had more potential.  I'm sure quite a few lower drafted big men could have beaten Anthony Davis one on one just by sheer strength.

The problem was that Darko was all potential, whereas Melo was the clear best available player; it was a horrible decision. I still don't see how you pass on the guy who had one of the best college careers ever, a top 5 tournament performance, almost no flaws, etc for a question mark. Darko also got man handled by some of the big men in that draft during work outs.

I will say this: find me a "top 3 point shooter in the league" who wasn't also one of the top FT shooters. That's why I'm skeptical that LeBron can maintain that once he can no longer jump over everyone.

Bruce Bowen.

BOOM
.575? Yikes.
Wesley Person, Matt Bonner, Brandon Rush, Trent Tucker, Jared Dudley, Mike Miller (uses nba reference) have managed to have high career 3P%'s despite LrBron-like free-throw shooting.
3 point shooters usually do have high FT percentages.
 FT% of the top ten 3-point shooters of all time: .864, .902, .837, .888, .841, .835, .840, .904, .897, .856
 FT% of those ranked 241-250 all time: .690, .790, .698, .675, .725, .739, .708, .766,  .835, .730

Those ranked 241-250 have a 3P% near 35%.

---

LeBron in Feb: 31.5 ponts per game on 16.6 shots.
R. Gay in Feb:  20.7 points per game on 20.3 shots.
