They rested their last game too and still beat the Spurs, surprisingly. The game won't automatically be trash.

I wasn't necessarily speaking to the quality of the contest but more in the potential tea leaf reading that would be possible if everybody was playing. It's anecdotal but when a team is often missing key players, at least on a one off basis the underhanded team often plays above their game and the other team often plays down to the level of the competition. So in that sense it could very well be competitive.

Apparently it was a relatively easy procedure and he'll be able to play next year  :o

Good to hear. Damn, that pic disturbed me I glanced at it then it started to haunt me so I had to stare at it til I came to terms with it. Fucking hell

Fun game so far, albeit muted.  No energy in that arena if Bron or Wade aren't in  :lol

A Japanese national Judo coach was recently tossed for a decade-plus history of similar abuse, much of it in respect to female judo players. Glad they acted fast in this instance. And i hope he ends up coaching Sprewell somewhere

He was fined $50,000 and suspended for three games by Rutgers back in December for this very thing. The video went public on ESPN yesterday.

So, yes.

There's a right way and a wrong way to do that. Sometimes a coach has to get in someone's ass

But the Rutgers shit is just over the top.

I was never a fan how the Spurs played but I wouldn't mind if they win it all this year.  It would be nice to see Duncan win his 5th just to see how Kobe stans react to Duncan having just as many rings and many more MVPs.  But it's gonna be hard for the Spurs without a healthy Ginobili.

So what do you experts think of Denver losing Gallinari?

My first reaction is big deal but then I checked that he's been shooting .397 since All-Star weekend and .376 in 15 March games

So Denver probably doesn't need him on offense and on defense, he's never been more than average

they have the bodies to replace him but with Lawson also hobbling, it's a Problem

Miami has it SOOOOOO EASY now. Basically OKC is the only team that threatened them who is not either hit bad by injury or slumping (Clippers). Spurs, Bulls, Knicks, Celtics, Clippers, Nuggets, Lakers (lol but i guess in theory they could bother them if they made it that far) are basically not looking like contenders at all. Maybe Pacers? I haven't seen much of them lately...

The Heat are doing the smart thing by resting their vets too (which wasn't a given - the streak probably made 'em suit up for games they should have sat out). The MVP race is also completely over so no need to go to the wire chasing more points than KD or whatever (futile, won't matter).

I think the Celtics could still be a problem to the Heat, just based on history and the last few games they've played against each other.  The Heat will win but the series would be longer than most people think.

I don't really understand this anymore. It seems like it should be a pretty clear cut decision to either shut him down for the year or not so I'm not sure if they just aren't being honest and it's clear he isn't going to play in the playoffs or what. Is this supposed to be a secret thing for the playoffs based on whether they make a run or not?

Cheers, Smooth. watching OKC-NYK now, pretty great. Injury not looking like such an issue for NY all of a sudden. Still would be a huge upset for them to beat the Heat though.

You assholes don't even think they can beat the Rondo-less Celtics. ::)

The only team in the east that I'm worried about the Knicks facing are the Bulls. Games against them are always ugly for us and I feel like suspensions are inevitable if we have to play them for 4-7 games straight.

Jazz (41-37) have the following games left.

vs Oklahoma City
vs Minnesota
@ Minnesota
@ Memphis

The Lakers (40-37) have the following games left

vs New Orleans
@ Portland
vs Golden State
vs San Antonio
vs Houston

And remember the Lakers have to win it outright. A tie record means they don't make the playoffs.

Definitely one of the best NCAA tournament games in recent memory. Very cool seeing Louisville win; they've had some an emotional roller coaster due to the Ware injury, but it seemed to have really ignited the team effectively.

The Melo-KD scoring race is prompting some serious silliness, with sportswriters contorting themselves to find ways to make it an equal battle. The daftest justification for Melo, who has been objectively far less efficient than KD over the season and his career, is that he has a more diverse repertoire. Why does it matter that he has a better post game than Durant if Durant still scores the same with far less attempts?! It's absurd. And doubly absurd because everyone knows that LeBron could win the scoring title any year he felt like being selfish and there's not a damn thing either of them could do about it

Got close to :pachah when it was tied after 3 quarters and :deadkobe seemed like a real possibility

But Hornets played :mindblown in the fourth, threw the ball away during a critical stretch and missed a bunch of open shots

Anyways, it was a much better game than I expected.  The game was up for grabs till the last 3 minutes.

Instead of box seats, I actually got 10th row from courtside near the middle, which imo are even better.  Staples Center has some nice luxurious suites but they always feel so distant from the action.

I'm tired right now so I'll give a more detailed report tomorrow.  But yeah, Lakers fans are an annoying bunch.  Luckily, this season has beaten them down to the point that most Kobe and MVP chants die fast or are done half-heartedly.

It kinda sucks that I couldn't boo the Lakers or cheer on the Hornets.  There just aren't enough or any Hornets fans to back me up when I get jumped outside.  I think some of the people around me were annoyed whenever I praised the Hornets for a nice play.  Next year I should get some Lakers-Clippers tickets so that I can really get on the Lakers fans' nerves.
