That was not good offense from the knicks in the first half.

Melo started good, but then he played too much iso in the 2nd quarter. Haven't seen that from him in a good while.

great first game.  I expect a long series, 6 or 7 games.  I think the Celtics and snag the next one but they're bound to lose one at home as well.

If David Lee is out for the rest of the playoffs, the Warriors have no chance. :(

Yep :(

Landry doesn't play well against length. Best case is that he misses only games 2 & 3.

As expected Miami was in beast mode during that game.

Quote
LeBron James had at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists in a playoff game for the 13th time in his career. That's the most 25-10-8 playoff games in NBA history. Next on the list is Oscar Robertson with 10, followed by Bird, Kareem and Magic. That's quite the Hall of Fame list with LeBron on top.

Sorry for ya, pilonv1. It was especially sucky seeing him visibly tighten up on the sidelines before he finally went down. That was otherwise the best game of the playoffs so far.

Lawson is in a weird position, being constantly 'on the verge of superstardom' (according to the announcers :rolleyes) with Miller upstaging him all the time.

Only got to see the Heat and Thunder games today before League Pass choked. Neither outcome was ever in doubt obviously. It is just fun seeing the top teams really rev up the engines and run right over the pretenders

I'm not a big Mike Brown guy obviously but I'm happy he's doing what he wants to do and back in the profession after what the Lakers pulled. I thought that was pretty disgraceful.

Always amused by how elite pro athletes nurture a sense of grievance to motivate themselves.  If MJ was in Durant's shoes, he would have convinced himself that the US had lost to Spain in the gold medal round, just to add to the list.

meh. That's part of the problem with a sound bite culture. Read the link. Nothing he says is that bad. He's not whining about it. He's more saying he doesn't want to finish 2nd again to Lebron and is doing anything in his power so it doesn't happen.

That being said, its likely to happen again this year in the finals.

Sorry, that quote just sounds dumb.  Second best in high-school?  Not in his highschool, mind you, but in the world.  Second draft pick? So second best basketball prospect in the world.  Second in the MVP race?  Second best basketball player in the world.  It's like Mandark says, it's imagined sleights.  Just saying "I want to win a championship" achieves the same thing, and you don't look like an asshole on a magazine cover.

i can remember being 2nd in tests in school, and also 26th; coming in 2nd was way more motivational

btw he left off '2nd in scoring' but maybe that's cause he actually scored more points than Melo....I also realized that CP3 lost the nominal assist title to Rondo despite racking up about twice as many assists for the season. when will this madness end

why don't they start him, anyway. It's not like Woodson yanks him all the time like George Karl did.

The game was actually going at the Celtics' pace 'til JR went off. Hopefully he starts breaking plays for heat checks now

I'm guessing cause they'd have no real scorer coming off the bench once he and Melo sat? I dunno. Cope has stepped up, but it's looking like he's still not ready for the playoffs yet.

lol a pastor friend of the family used to always drone on and on about "Kevin Durant plays the right way. Look at his stroke, look at his dribbling, he plays like a godly man. And he's so soft spoken and has no tattoos, what a role model for young black children. He even went to college! Unlike LeBrick Blames, who will never win a championship"

this was before I discovered that Durant is an aspiring rapper and has tattoos covering much of his torso under the jersey.

The first round should be 5 game series. Do we really need a 7 game series to determine the Heat, Spurs, etc are advancing?

nope, and it was better when it was 5 'cause an upset seemed much more possible, even though they were still rare. A win over a higher seed in a 7 game series isn't really an 'upset' anyway; you're categorically the better team at that point
