I was at a party late last night during a terrible storm in Nashville during that game.  Before we left for it, the score was like 44-19 thunder and we lol'd the game off.  No cable at the party because of the storm.  Someone pulls out their phone at the party and loses his shit, seeing that the rockets were only done two with like 5 minutes to go.  Every dude in that apartment went to the other section of the room and crowded arond a 4 inch screen to watch that crazy durant 3.  Like 15 dudes losing their shit  :lol

In his final game before unrestricted free agency, Dwight Howard scored seven points before getting ejected early in the third quarter for arguing.

Perfect sentence to sum up the Lakers season.

Man what is it about that area that creates these insane Golden State crowds. I mean I lived near that area and know those fans are passionate but man. They are something. Feels like a college game whenever they have home playoff games.

Weird spot for their franchise. Lakers I mean.

An aging superstar coming of on injury who you need just to be credible.
A big man who needs to be surrounded by three point shooters to be effective
Pau Gasol a big man who doesn't really fit it on this Lakers squad anymore.
An old Steve Nash who isn't the old Steve Nash anymore.

They are a mess at the moment.

I'd be more worried about lingering back issues with Dwight than anything.  Let's not kid ourselves: when he's 100%, he's an elite player and having him on a max contract is a steal.

The fans are mostly in the east bay, so there's a lot of younger brother tenacity to the fanbase. Plus suffering fanbase stuff. Not just miserable years as a Warriors fan, but also misery from being Raider fans and fans of the moneyball team.

Magic was pretty blunt about the way the team went out in 2011, too, with Bynum and Odom's hard fouls in the last game against the Mavs.

Would enjoy seeing Dwight go to Houston and beast out there, if only for the Laker fan schadenfreude.

why do I listen to sports radio

Laker fans are talking about their "suffering" non-stop. They are mad about everything except the actual reasons the Lakers are first round chumps. No, it's not an old roster that is more prone to get injured. No, it's not a coach that likes to run and have shooters paired with a roster that's old and lacking in shooters. No, it's not the Kobe-atmosphere that makes multiple stars have to do all the dirty work and shoulder all the blame. No, it's not the fact the team went through three coaches and multiple injuries in one year. No, it's not a roster full of poor defenders relying on a Center with a bad back.

It's cuz Dwight or Pau aren't man enough to be bro-married to Kobe.

The latest rumours are that he might come back for the Heat series if they advance but nobody really knows because nobody has been communicating anything about what is going on. He's been medically cleared to play for a while now. No one knows what the holdup issues are.

NBA center Jason Collins has become the first male athlete in a major professional sport to come out as gay.

The 34-year-old, who was traded to the Washington Wizards in February, tells Sports Illustrated:

"I didn't set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn't the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, 'I'm different.' If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I'm raising my hand."
My journey of self-discovery and self-acknowledgement began in my hometown of Los Angeles and has taken me through two state high school championships, the NCAA Final Four and the Elite Eight, and nine playoffs in 12 NBA seasons."

It would be such a dumb move to throw Rose into a fresh series with the Heat.  Dude hasn't played a game in over a year, hasn't been able to prepare for the Heat, and would have an incredible amount of pressure to perform well in what could arguably be the toughest hurdle for the Heat.

Keep him resting.  This is 12-15 years of your franchise you're talking about, not a quick gamble for maybe getting to the Finals only to lose to the Thunder/Spurs.

I agree with Shaq/Charles on Dwight, and have been saying that for years. He doesn't seem to have any specific moves and is an emotional child.

Also I just learned...he has 5 kids with 5 women? I remember during the draft there were stories about how his parents didn't let him listen to rap music or watch R rated movies  :lol

I lost a lot of respect for Dwight obviously by how he handled the orlando situation but there was one comment I read from him that really sealed it. It was along the lines of he didn't want to end up like Lebron, sort of explaining why he did what he did in Orlando.

That just ended it for me. I couldn't take him seriously anymore after that. It was like watching a man sized child after that.

I think he'll survive. While his comments were ugly, he covered them in religious belief and compared it to other sins he opposes. People who have been fired for anti-gay comments were far less careful (see: Tim Hardaway).

NBA committee rejects Kings move to Seattle
By Dale Kasler, Ryan Lillis and Tony Bizjak

In a move that all but guarantees the Sacramento Kings are staying put, a committee of NBA owners voted unanimously today to block the team's pending sale and relocation to Seattle.

The NBA announced that its combined relocation and finance advisory committee, composed of 12 owners, voted unanimously to reject the Maloof family's proposed sale of the Kings to hedge fund manager Chris Hansen and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who planned to move the team to Seattle.

The Maloof family had no immediate comment. Nor was there immediate comment from the Sacramento bidders whose efforts to keep the team in town appear to have succeeded. A Hansen spokesman had no immediate comment, either.

"What Sacramento did was beat the odds," said Michael McCann, legal analyst at NBA TV.

Mayor Kevin Johnson, who spearheaded the effort to derail the Seattle move, took to Twitter to announce: "That's what I'm talking about SACRAMENTO!!!!! WE DID IT!!!!!"

The full Board of Governors isn't expected to vote on the Kings until around May 13, but the committee's recommendation will surely be influential. The Hansen-Ballmer group needs 23 of 30 owners' votes to get control of the team.

Today's vote followed a two-hour conference call by committee members - and came after months of unprecedented arm wrestling over the lowly Kings. The Maloofs agreed in January to sell their 65 percent share to the Hansen group for $341 million. Hansen upped the offer to $357 million earlier this month.

A group of eight investors recruited by Mayor Kevin Johnson and led by Palo Alto software executive Vivek Ranadive submitted a proposal to keep the team in town. The deal matched Hansen's original offer of $341 million, according to a letter the Maloofs sent earlier this month to the NBA.

Both cities pitched multimillion-dollar subsidies for new arenas, with the Sacramento City Council tentatively approving a $258 million subsidy, to be paid mainly by borrowing against future parking revenues. Seattle, which lost its SuperSonics to Oklahoma City in 2008, offered the larger and richer market. But Sacramento touted its long record of loyalty to the NBA and its status as a one-team town.

McCann said it was remarkable for the NBA to reject the proposal from Hansen and Ballmer, a pair of owners "that had no question marks." The last time the NBA killed a sale and relocation, involving the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1994, the potential buyers in New Orleans had shaky financing.

With the Kings, the process dragged out weeks longer than usual, and McCann said that was no coincidence. "They wanted the unanimous vote," he said.

wait, what did broussard say?
That being gay was an affront to god's plan or some shit like that.  ESPN was also pretty heavily criticized for not mentioning it for 3 hours or something and focusing on Tebow, which no one fucking cares about anymore.

Yeah I noticed that this morning also. They keep trying to flog that Tebow shit when the Collins story is clearly the bigger news story.

"If you're openly living in unrepentant sin, whatever it may be, I believe that's walking in open rebellion to God and Jesus Christ." was the exact quote.

It is great that the Tebow story was shuffled to the side today :)
