Learn the Art of the Deal
from Long-time NBA Executive David Kahn

Intensive Weekend Program will Focus on Learning to
Negotiate Effectively in Business to Achieve Goals
In today's complex and competitive business environment, becoming proficient in the art of the deal is crucial for success. A new course that will be offered this spring by the Division of Programs in Business at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies will provide students with an insider's view of how to negotiate effectively to achieve your goals and objectives.

"What's the Deal?" Dealmaking in the 21st Century
will run from April 4 to 6 (Fri. 6-9 p.m., Sat.10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sun 10 a.m.-1 p.m.).
David Kahn, NYU Law '93, entrepreneur, former general manager of the NBA Indiana Pacers, and former president of Basketball Operations for the NBA Minnesota Timberwolves, will teach the class.

In this intensive weekend course, students will be immersed in the concept of dealmaking, with special emphasis placed on lessons learned in real-life deals from the world of sports, entertainment, and real estate. They will gain a deeper understanding of the key steps required to put together a deal, including building relationships, preparation tactics, identifying what's important for the other party and how to deliver it, learning when to say no, and understanding that the renewal period for the deal starts the moment it has been completed. This three-day, intensive is designed for anyone interested in the art of the deal, including business leaders, administrators, and executives in dynamic fields that involve personal interaction.

John Wall's assisted on 40+% of Ariza's baskets, which is the highest rate in the league between two teammates.

Also, part of it may be the amount of time they spend on the floor together, but yeesh, New Orleans seems to have some iso going on.

Asked if President Obama could make the roster of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant said almost immediately, "yes, he could, actually," Sports Illustrated reports.

Said Bryant: "That's not a diss to the current roster that we have, its more of a sign of respect of the skill that the president possesses."

Specifically, Obama could take Bryant's spot.  Their contracts both run through 2016, Obama carries a much lower cap hit, and he's got a better track record health-wise.

Jabari Parker with a poor performance. A few months ago I would have said Parker was definitely going to the NBA, but after this...dunno. We'll see.

Lebron had a pretty awful night.

Still think the MVP race is neck and neck.  KD a slight edge after tonight obviously.  If Lebron can get the Heat to overtake the Pacers for the 1 seed I could see Lebron winning it again, but I'm sure Lebron will be playing fewer and fewer minutes the closer we get to the middle of April.

Lebron has zero chance of winning the MVP. The late season nose dive the Heat are still on has ensured that. They've looked like crap for weeks now.

And Durant actually deserves it more anyway based on his quality of play.

It's not close to neck and neck.

It was a week ago, but yeah its all Durants now.  Not like you'd ever admit that Lebron is playing MVP basketball.

Just realized I don't actually hate LeBron anymore.

Making peace with the fact that he's going to surpass Kobe's legacy, and that even if he retired tonight, lots of analysts would argue that he's already done so, took a lot of the edge off.

The Sixers and Bucks should probably both be penalized a substantial percentage of their ping pong balls because it would help the Lakers.

Fixed.

Let's be real besides Jason Richardson, who are these guys on the Sixers' roster. The Bucks are the same way, the only dude I recognize on their team is O.J. Mayo and they have a guy making a little over 40k on their team. No one can expect them to be good, now the Knicks on the other hand...

Sixers have MCW and Noel, and will probably have Parker next season.  Grow the three up together and you could have a potential killer three.

Wiggins is gone. Also the argument that "being in college=getting an education" has been proven to be false for many athletes, thus the author's point is moot. Does anyone think Wiggins is going to class? Parker is, but even in that case his short term goal isn't graduation. I will say this: I could definitely see Parker staying for another year.

Second point: returning to college doesn't always work. Just ask Marcus Smart.

In other news Dirk and Durant had a duel last night.

And the Knicks were being the Knicks.

The worst team has won the NBA Draft Lottery three times in 24 tries.

Over the last 20 years, only three of those top picks have won rings: LeBron James, Tim Duncan, and Glenn Robinson.

The second little factoid was in a Grantland article today.

The Heat seem to have completely lost confidence in the role players. The ball still isn't moving like it did last year.

The same thing kind of happened in the playoffs and Miami instead just went to Lebron ball. We'll see what happens over the course of this game.

And Bosh is back to being a complete non-factor out on the perimeter shooting jumpers.

Indy takes it. Probably has home court now. So that's a big plus for them. We'll see if its the difference maker when/if that 7th game rolls around. (Assuming of course a lot of things fall into place)

edit: The other thing I guess to take out of this is that if Wade is this fragile in the playoffs even without back to backs, they are going to be in trouble. I think everybody assumes him taking all these games off will strengthen him for the playoffs but it didn't seem to play out that way tonight at the end.
