Good effort by Dallas. Just not enough defense for them to stop the Spurs.

Crazy game. Nets came back from 26 down. 20 down in the 4th quarter. Almost won it. Nets outscored them 44-24 in the last quarter.

No way Linsanity shows up a 2nd time in a series. Game 6 should be the last.

Yo these games have been crazy with numerous buzzer beaters and four point plays. I haven't felt this much and trepidation regarding a playoff series in a decade. The NBA is so good right now with all of the young guns and the old has-beens coming together.

I the Mavs/Spurs series is surprisingly my favorite. It's way closer than I thought with Dirk playing awesome as usual and both Monte Ellis and Vince Carter ballin as well. The no-calls during Game 5 were bullshit though, but I can't be too mad because the Mavs pretty much decided not to box anyone out whatsoever. Also Devin Harris's defense on Tony Parker would make Steve Nash blush.

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/10867253/los-angeles-lakers-plan-court-kevin-ollie-uconn-huskies-john-calipari-kentucky-wildcats
Quote
The Los Angeles Lakers plan a drawn-out and exhaustive search for Mike D'Antoni's successor as coach, but sources close to the process insist the team hopes to "make a splash" with its eventual hire.

To that end, sources say, Lakers officials intend to reach out to two of the biggest names in the college game -- UConn's Kevin Ollie and Kentucky's John Calipari -- to at least gauge their interest in the job.

The Lakers also plan to reach out to the Chicago Bulls for permission to interview coach Tom Thibodeau, a source told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Dave McMenamin. The Lakers are closely monitoring the playoffs, believing that several viable candidates could become available should their respective teams be eliminated.

The Lakers' immediate aims, sources say, are to focus on the draft and free agency, and to "hold back [on the coaching front] until they get a better sense of the marketplace."

...

Ollie's close relationship with Oklahoma City star Kevin Durant is well known around the league and bound to make the young coach of the newly minted NCAA champions a target of any team with aspirations of trying to lure Durant from the Thunder in free agency in 2016.

Sources say Derek Fisher, who came into the league alongside Kobe Bryant in 1996-97 and currently is Durant's teammate in Oklahoma City, will also be considered if he's indeed interested in making the immediate jump to coaching. Fisher has maintained for months that this will be his final season as a player and is believed to prefer a front-office career to coaching, but his relationship with the Lakers is such that Fisher has to be considered a viable candidate for the bench.

To this point, sources say, Bryant has not made any coaching suggestions, but the Lakers are expected to consult the 35-year-old star on the matter as he prepares to return from a 2013-14 season in which he was limited to six games because of Achilles and knee issues. Bryant's two-year, $48.5 million extension will kick in next season.

The Lakers are also expected to look at the current NBA coaching ranks and consider a number of veterans and top assistants, so several more names are likely to surface as the search unfolds.

...

In terms of other potential candidates, Lakers officials have long held ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy in high regard. They also, according to sources, plan to again interview former Lakers and Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy, who was considered for the job in the wake of Mike Brown's dismissal, when the Lakers ultimately opted for D'Antoni over Phil Jackson and Dunleavy.

It's believed that Byron Scott and Kurt Rambis, both former Lakers from the team's 1980s glory days, will be considered as well.

Okay, I think the NBA is going a little too far with this punishment now:
Quote
Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is battling cancer, sources have confirmed to ESPN.com.

The news was first reported by the New York Post.

The Post, citing sources, reported that the 80-year-old Sterling has been battling prostate cancer for an extended period of time.

Really really silly fouls kept them from winning that game. It seemed like the momentum was shifting in their favor late too.

Only once in the history of the NBA have five series IN THE ENTIRE PLAYOFFS gone to a Game 7.

There are currently five in the first round.

I've been watching basketball all my life. That's as entertaining a series of basketball as I've ever seen. It wasn't the finals or deep in so it doesn't have that kind of mystique behind it that later round series do, but it was as fun a brand of basketball as I've seen.

If the Mavs/Spurs game 7 is close that's probably going to be my favorite series of this most amazing first round. I'm pretty sure this first round had the most buzzer beaters ever. Remember that Durant four point play. The Mavericks game 4 heave to send them into overtime.

I didn't realize this about Tim Duncan until today:

1. He's 38 years old [first season was 97-98]
2. The first team to win the Finals after the second Bulls three-peat was the Duncan/Robinson Spurs

It's crazy how good all of the big three still are despite being in their 30s and having played so long the in the league. I've been a big Spurs hater for the past decade and a half, but I have to give it to them and I think I'll miss hating them when they're gone if that makes any sense.

Alright let's not get crazy.  Manu choked last year, definitely, but Game 6 also featured:

- Kawhi missing free throws
- Terrible defensive rebounding effort by the Spurs on the last two possessions
- Tony Parker being relatively ineffective most of the series barring Game 1
- Danny Green disappearing completely
- Popovich with a baffling coaching decision to take Duncan out for the last possession
- The Spurs not fouling the Heat when the clock was under 10 seconds.
- And of course, Lebron and Ray Allen clutch threes on tough looks.  And Bosh with the biggest offensive rebound in the history of the NBA.

Game 7 also featured some crap play by the Spurs.  But they collectively, as a team, could've closed out the Heat in Game 6.  They, collectively, failed to do so.  Not just Manu.
