THE NETS HAVE THE HEAT RIGHT WHERE THEY WANT THEM

I'm rooting for the Heat from here on out- I'm just gonna start pulling for whatever outcome is the most likely to give Awesome-o a stroke.

Barkley before game: Spurs are too old to beat Portland and the Dallas series took too much out of them.

Charles is fun enough to listen to occasionally but he is wrong so often its really laughable.

Didn't actually expect this to happen.

Mark Jackson has been relieved of his duties as coach of the Golden State Warriors, the team announced Tuesday.

So who do they go after?

Was almost guaranteed to happen after the all star break when rumours started flying about Lacob not being impressed they weren't top 4. I think even if they beat the Clippers he was gone, no one liked him but the players. Which is hardly surprising considering his stint in Utah.

I hoping for Stan Van. But I know it won't happen :gloomy

Portland is a fun team but a flawed team. Doesn't play very good team defense. Very reliant on the 3, but if they don't land them at a great clip, they are in trouble.

They are going against a team that is just more well rounded. It will be a learning experience for them.

Oh definitely flawed. Their age and relative short time playing together shows at times. They want to rush and shoot when it's not even necessary.

Thunder pulling away, but you can really see all the criticisms about their offense.  Westbrook dribbling the clock down with basically no movement off the ball, into a pull-up three that he makes.  Then Westbrook dribbling the clock down to single digits before dumping it to Durant, who's posting up past the elbow, who turns around and hits a jumper while being guarded.

I realize that OKC has offensive sets and runs plays and stuff, but compared to the Spurs it's night and day.

That was the one often overlooked advantage of Harden in his OKC form, he basically wrecked up their passive style with his aggressive style and they didn't have to rely on just the efficiency of Durant (and to be fair, Westbook many times) for their offensive attack. He also allowed Westbrook to move off ball and still get his shots only he wouldn't pound the ball into the floor.

To be fair, the Spurs were sorta this way before Manu really kicked in, and then they built deliberately around being able to play multiple styles which requires you to be able to move the ball.

With the Thunder you don't have that confidence that when Durant has a poor game, someone else other than him, Westbrook and Ibaka, is magically going to get the 15 points they need. This almost always somehow happens for the Spurs. Even Miami was getting that from Ray Allen, etc. at times.

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/10911472/nba-believes-legal-grounds-oust-shelly-sterling-ownership-according-sources
Quote
The NBA believes it has the legal grounds to oust both Shelly Sterling and her husband as owners, despite the fact that commissioner Adam Silver's punishments were specifically leveled only against Donald, according to sources with knowledge of the league's legal strategy.

Shelly Sterling, the estranged wife of exiled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, has made it clear to the NBA that she intends to retain her 50 percent ownership interest in the team.

She has publicly and privately cooperated with the league in its actions to ban her husband for life and move to oust him from ownership. However, the league's contention will be that Shelly Sterling -- while entitled to a 50 percent interest in the franchise -- has never been approved by the board of governors as the controlling owner. She and team president Andy Roeser, who went on an indefinite leave of absence this week, were only alternate governors.

In order to become the team's new controlling owner, Shelly Sterling would have to be approved by the board of governors, which is unlikely given her association with her husband of 58 years.

Former Lakers great Magic Johnson said Friday that none of the current Clippers players would play for Shelly Sterling if she retains her ownership.

"Those guys are not going to play for anybody (named) Sterling," Johnson told USA TODAY Sports and two other reporters at the Omni Dallas Hotel. "It's just how it is. It's hard to separate the two. ... It's going to be hard for them to sell that to the fans and definitely to the players."
Magic is going to get ahold of this franchise isn't he...

Look on the bright side, that could theoretically mean the Spurs lead by one bucket for the entire game until the last few seconds when Portland wins. So it's not the end of the world.

Good game. It was very entertaining. Miami's weakness on defense this year is terrifying to imagine them going against a spurs team that is clicking. If they can manage to get by the Pacers, they should eagerly be rooting for the Thunder who also have their own issues.

Quote
"Big, Magic Johnson, what has he done?" Sterling asked Cooper. "He's got AIDS."

Cooper clarified that Johnson was diagnosed with HIV, not AIDS. Sterling went on, "What kind of a guy has sex with every girl, then he catches HIV? Is that someone we want to respect and tell our kids about? I think he should be ashamed of himself. I think he should go into the background. What does he do for the black people?"

Wow.  Chris Paul gives the ball away in a deliberate foul situation, fouls Westbrook on a (typically ill-advised) three point attempt, and then turns the ball over on the final possession.  He can not be happy right now.

Replay system has always been screwed in that you can't fix the error in the replay. You can only judge possession.

Doc is right imo in that I don't see how you give the ball to the Thunder in that situation although in the perfect ideal replay system you would probably just call the foul on Barnes.

This tweet was before the 4th quarter btw.

Bennett Salvatore, Tom Washington and Tony Brothers reffing a genuinely important NBA playoff game - what could possibly go wrong?

Game also goes to prove my point that the issue has always been ref quality in general versus conspiracy theories of the unseen hand that crazy people are always on about. I've always thought you need one more ref on the floor to be able to see things because the game is so fast and the angles matter. With or without that you need a replay system in the final few minutes that is able to overule things and make the "correct" call. Or a challenge system of some kind.
