OKC ran Ibaka through battery of tests on Thursday and his calf responded well. Still soreness but a Sunday Game 3 return is possible.

Now that the Rockets out of the playoffs, fucking Houston Chronicle talking about how the next great player Rockets need to get to win a championship. They had Lebron, Carmelo, Gasol;etc on the cover of the sports page, talking about the Rockets are missing a piece to the puzzle, when they finally got Howard, Harden,  Parsons, and Lin. This fucking team and its fucking fans. I swear they're always looking for the "missing piece" to this team and trying to acquire some top league talent.

Every team that isn't the champion is looking for the "missing piece". There is nothing unusual about this. Rolling out this exact same squad next year is probably going to get them about where they got this year.

And the Rockets do need some pieces. Lin needs to go. They need to bite the bullet and trade Asik for something.

There is also talk of packing those things and Parsons and trying to get another "star" player who gives them something.

The Rockets are missing pieces, because as Beezy said, Lin isn't pulling his weight he needs to be doing. I also realize that all teams that don't lose the championship are looking for missing pieces. My problem is that the Chronicle and other Rockets fans only ever want top superstars. Pretending like Lebron, Carmelo, Gasol;etc will come to the Rockets to help them fill in those pieces is delusional as it is hilarious.

Asik and Lin are pretty useless. Harden is just, man what an overpaid schmuck. He got his shit together for like one game against the Blazers but was just ineffectual as all fuck for what he's paid.

GTFO with that.  He's got the 33rd highest salary in the league.  Easily worth 13.7M in today's NBA.

Houston's problem is that Dwight short-circuited their plan and they couldn't pass it up. So now they're in contention early. And they DO need another scorer, Harden is their offense too much. They don't need Melo or Gasol though, Kevin Love would be a better acquisition if they could swing it, he's exactly what they want defense-aside.

I'd definitely include Parsons, let alone Lin in a deal for him.  :hitler

I don't know that there was a "plan" with a longer timetable that Dwight disrupted.  He's been one of their primary targets since it was clear he was disgruntled in ORL, and if anything they probably anticipated making a run at him a year earlier.  Plus they almost got Pau Gasol in that vetoed Chris Paul trade three offseasons ago.  I think their bigger problem is that they anticipated Asik and Lin playing better (either to contribute to the team or to have value as a trade piece) or finding another gem or two among their cheap players.

Though really, we're looking at the flaws of a team that's in a pretty good spot and has improved a lot in the last couple years.  There are just other good teams, especially in the West.

Actually it is probably more accurate to say that Harden is what started to derail the plan.

Morey's had a plan to stockpile assets that can be flipped with the D-League serving as a farm system. I think Asik worked out as expected but Dwight knocked him into the background and he's too valuable for what the market was offering probably. As for Lin, I imagine they didn't expect to have Harden there to dominate the ball and hoped Lin could put up some gaudy numbers to keep Linsanity going and then be flipped for something of higher value.

Lin doesn't shoot the three or play off the ball well enough to be paired with Harden and Asik can't do anything offensively to be paired with Dwight who needs his space. Dwight also derailed some of the plans for Motiejunas.

If they knew they were getting Dwight they would have kept Patrick Patterson and/or Marcus Morris I imagine.

Well they made a lot of moves to be able to get Dwight, so I imagine they expected to have Dwight. Harden is more of a surprise player.

Despite all the drama the Pacers are right where they want to be. 7 game series versus the Heat. They have the home court advantage. And they match up extremely well.

Will be really interesting. I give them a hell of a chance of making the finals.

I'll be highly shocked if the Heat beat the Pacers in 5. The evidence doesn't suggest that is likely. I expect 6 or 7 whoever wins.

No, Stoney.  Let's stop pretending the Pacers will be able to beat the Heat.  Heat just beat the best team record wise in the East since January in five games.  The Heat may be flawed but they step up.  The Pacers are shook and look legit awful. Heat in 5.  If it goes to seven games I will ice my dick for an entire day.

 :rejoice

I kind of secretly hope the Heat lose this series so Spoelstra gets exposed a bit. This is the perfect series that will actually test him to make changes during a game or series. Something I think he is terrible at.

Paul George killing tonight.

Everybody on the heat playing well except Lebron (probably the worst game coupled with foul trouble I've seen from him in a very long time). How often does that happen.

Crazy finish.

Miami would have probably won it if Lebron hadn't been in foul trouble for most of the game. But honestly they still probably should have won it. Outside of that block at the end Lebron did a lot wrong. I didn't like the dish to bosh at the end there either. They'll most likely finish it out at home.
