Can Kevin Love retroactively be made a USC alum?

I know someone who got into USC's law school with a <3.0 GPA.

Cavs just need a back-up center. I like Varejao but he's an injury magnet. And the corpse of Brendan Haywood as a backup ain't gonna cut it.

Also I'm pretty sure awesome-o has been masturbating furiously to this video.

I hate to be that guy but I wonder if there is more going on here. Really inconvenient time to do it and he was easily the best player on the roster.

Quote
Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant will not play for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup later this summer in Spain, citing mental and physical exhaustion.

"This was an extremely difficult decision as I take great pride in representing our country," Durant said in a statement. "I know that I owe it to my USA Basketball teammates to be totally invested in the experience. After going through training camp with USAB, I realized I could not fulfill my responsibilities to the team from both a time and energy standpoint."I need to take a step back and take some time away, both mentally and physically in order to prepare for the upcoming NBA season. I will be rooting for USAB and look forward to future opportunities with them.

In a statement, USA Basketball said Durant called chairman Jerry Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski to deliver the news.

"Kevin … expressed that he is just physically and mentally drained from the NBA season and his attention to his many responsibilities," Colangelo said. "He tried to give it a go at our recent Las Vegas training camp but felt coming out of camp that he was not prepared to fulfill the commitment he made to the team.

"Coach K and I fully support Kevin. His well-being is the most important thing to us and we support him taking the time to get ready for next season. He's been part of the National Team program for eight years and a big part of the success we have achieved, and we look forward to him being part of our success in the future as well."

Durant was on Team USA's 2010 world championship and 2012 London Olympics gold medal teams. He announced last summer that he planned to anchor the roster this year, too.

His departure could have a major affect on a severely depleted frontcourt. Small forward Paul George was injured in an exhibition last week, while power forwards LaMarcus Aldridge and Kevin Love pulled out previously.

USA Basketball is adamant Durant's decision has nothing to do with George's devastating injury sustained last week in an exhibition game. Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook also pulled out of the event, citing his knee injuries last season.

Durant likely would have split his time between the two positions, starting at small forward. Now Team USA's best options there are first-timers Gordon Hayward, Chandler Parsons and Kyle Korver, none of whom have made NBA All-Star teams. Anthony Davis, a 21-year-old, is the only All-Star frontcourt player left for Team USA, unless Love decides to play now that his trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers is agreed upon.

The USA has not lost in a major tournament since Krzyzewski took over as head coach, winning the 2008 Beijing Games before the 2010 world championships in Turkey and the 2012 Olympics. That could be tested now.

If the USA does not win the World Cup, it will have to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics next summer in a FIBA Americas event.

I think with so many others dropping out like KLove and George being lost to injury, that he felt he was going to have to lead and carry a team with little international experience. Curry, Lilliard, Parsons, etc are all roughly new to the deal.

Question now is does Team USA shift styles? They no longer have their stretch 4s. I don't believe Hayward really cuts it there.

I've been listening to him for the past month now. It's been great.

The Toronto Raptors have been fined for comments rap star and team ambassador Drake made about Kevin Durant at a recent concert that the NBA deemed a violation of its anti-tampering rules.

The fine is for $25,000, sources with knowledge of the league's ruling told ESPN.com on Monday.

Durant, who attended Drake's show last week in Toronto, was the subject of what the league regarded as a public recruiting pitch from the famed Canadian artist, who was named the Raptors' global ambassador in September 2013.

"Before we leave, I just want to show one of my brothers something," Drake told the crowd. "You know, my brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us. I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto. Let him know what would happen."

The Oklahoma City Thunder star and reigning NBA MVP then received an ovation from the crowd, which reportedly launched into a "KD" chant.

Kevin Durant's representation Roc Nation Sports informed Nike on Wednesday that he has a deal on the table with Under Armour worth between $265 million and $285 million over 10 years, sources told ESPN.com.

The deal includes Under Armour stock and other incentives, such a community center built in his mother's name, whose exact worth will not be known for some time.

Nike, which saw its signature business related to the Oklahoma City Thunder forward grow to roughly $175 million at retail last season, will have the right to match, which is a condition of Durant's current contract with the brand. Durant can still choose Nike if it doesn't match but can't legally choose Under Armour if Nike does.

Nike's last offer, sources said, would have given Durant a base and a minimum royalty guarantee that would equal no less than $20 million a year.

If Under Armour wins the services of Durant, it would be the largest sponsorship deal the company has ever committed to. The average of $26.5 million to $28.5 million means that Under Armour would be devoting nearly 10 percent of its current annual marketing budget on him. Although Under Armour has given investors guidance that it might hit $3 billion in revenues this year, only about 1 percent of that is from basketball shoes.

Because Under Armour has such a small basketball business, the company has to guarantee Durant his money up front, instead of the typical shoe deals that offer a minimum guarantee plus up to 5 percent royalty on the wholesale revenues. Michael Jordan, for example, made more than $100 million last year from Nike largely from royalties on sales of his Jordan brand.
