Kobe was always exceptional, and 'overrated' is a pretty subjective term. He had some amazing talent around him in his best years, and even after building the team around him as he got older the Lakers did way better than they had any right to. He definitely didn't carry them to five championships. AiA saying he's not top ten is distinguished mentally-challenged.

Cool list, I agree with most and disagree with a few. Glove is underrated for sure.

Whitlock is really dumb on this subject though. The Nash trade and D'Antoni hiring had as much to do with the Lakers falling apart as the Kobe extension.

Bean might have cracked my top 10 if it weren't for shaq and vice versa.

Those two were mutally dependent on each other and it's hard to put either ahead. I'd say they are 11A and 11B

Yeah because the league is and has always been chock full of 7 foot perimeter players who can iso and run a break.

No Duncan and no Shaq on an Life-Time Top Ten is a little weird.

Shaq's 2000 thrashing of the league wasn't too dependent on Kobe or Glen Rice.

Shaq is always an interesting case for these all-time ranking arguments, because it brings up how people value consistency and longevity vs. effectiveness at the player's best.

Peak Shaq was a fucking MONSTER even if he spent a ton of his career being various degrees of fat and goofy.

In Gundy We Trust

Pistons played tough. They aren't going to win this series but it's clear Gundy has the team moving in the right direction and they'll be one of the best teams in the east soon. My question: do they keep Drummond?

It seems like you don't let a big man leave. But Drummond has holes in his game that he doesn't seem interested in fixing and has major maturity issues. Would it make sense to let him walk and gamble that you can bring a star player here in FA?

I gotta say no. Great centers don't grow on trees. You hope he will work on his free throws and paying more attention to positioning on defense rather than always looking to block a shot.

Most of the series were obvious blowouts.

The Cavs Pistons game was clearly the best one. It was nice to see Cavs go with smaller lineup and have Love actually be effective.

Seemed to me we were most effective when we moved the ball through Love most of the game.

No no no no no no no no no.

Even if you thought star free agents want to go to Detroit now (they don't), and you needed to clear cap space (you wouldn't), why would you get rid of your best player and your best prospect?  Like, why give up on Drummond before Morris or whoever?

Worth remembering that even though it's his fourth year, he's as old as Hakeem was when the Dream was a rookie.

The San Antonio Spurs' Kawhi Leonard, who helped the team finish with the NBA's top defense this season, is the recipient of the 2015-16 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award, the NBA announced today. Leonard, a 6-7 forward, becomes the first non-center to earn the honor in back-to-back seasons since Dennis Rodman in 1989-90 and 1990-91.

Leonard received 84 first-place votes and 547 total points from a panel of 130 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. He edged the Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green, who tallied 44 first-place votes and 421 points to finish as runner-up for the second season in a row. The Miami Heat's Hassan Whiteside was third with 83 points (two first-place votes). Players were awarded five points for each first-place vote, three points for each second-place vote and one point for each third-place vote.
