BrandNew probably sexualizes LeBron more than anyone but Stoney, so you're way off with that one.

This Cavs team out scored opponents by 12.5 points per 100 possessions with LeBron on the bench. Maybe on paper they were shit, but the rest of the team stepped up in a big way in the playoffs. Without that margin they wouldn't have beat Chicago even with Chicago basically not running an offense.

No, as usual I was talking about the bullshit you post every day.

Am I tripping or is this a bullshit stat, especially to plant a flag on as the platform of your argument. I'd imagine a good deal of LeBron's time on the bench lines up with moments where the Cavs are well ahead/other team has essentially given up.

I don't know shit about the NBA but this just sounds fishy to me.

Actually Walrus's stat is true, and I agree with him.  They still would've beaten the Bulls though because of Pau's injury.

and thats what I meant Stoney...this team is playing inspired playoff basketball.  Much different now than in Jan/Feb/March

PD, when Lebron is on the bench in the second and decent portions of the third, Delly, JR, Shump, and James Jones are hitting their shots.  TT also killing bench front courters in rebounding

It's not like most of Shinobi's posts in this thread are serious.  At least during the last season, he's been going for a ranty, trollish, sorta thing.  Not that he doesn't hate LeBron, but he's at least couching it in a Forum Personality gimmick.  Which I guess makes it an internet victory when he gets AiA or Stoney to take the bait?  It's still so boring though.

I miss Cormac.

Even though this is the guy that loves Muse, gets butthurt about people hating on acoustic guitar players at parties, has eugenics fantasies. I agree. His shtick here can't be serious.

Gentry had spent the off day on Sunday breaking down film of the Cleveland Cavaliers defense and coming up with a game plan for how the Warriors should attack it in the NBA Finals. And as usual, he'd sent off clips of a few dozen plays to Nick U'Ren, the Warriors' video coordinator, to present at the Golden State Warriors' Monday morning film session.

"I start in like, 'Guys, here are some of the plays we ran against them that really worked well,'" Gentry says. "And I look at the screen and it's all a bunch of fricking Pelicans highlights.

"They've got captions under the plays like, 'Boy, this team has a lot of potential.' There's this play with Anthony Davis dunking and the caption says, 'God, this guy is GOOD!'"

The whole room started rolling. Head coach Steve Kerr had told Gentry to go off to New Orleans over the weekend to finalize the job offer because the Warriors weren't doing anything substantive.

Cavs are dominating the boards and getting position, thus the Warriors are getting called...ah fuck it nevermind.

Couldn't ask for a better start for the cavs but they are a team that lacks concentration so they will always lose any lead they build. And the Warriors are great at adjustments.

Good start and good defense from Cavs though.

That's my issue with blatt so far. I think just anybody, any coach could roll out a team and say lebron, you play iso offense and see how far that gets out. Isn't the whole point to help your team with other options in some of these situations. James Jones is useless. I so want to see somebody else get his minutes. He has one skill and is terrible at every other facet of the game both offensively and defensively. And JR has been pretty useless outside of the 1st quarter.

Warriors having so many options on offense is giving the cavs fits. They get the switch everytime and then there's a mismatch and they find it and exploit it.

Great first game. But it kind of shows the problems the Cavs would have had anyway. Simply not enough depth to match up with the Warriors and without kyrie that one at least minor chance they had is now gone.

And this is with an amazing game from Lebron. If he has the normal game, the law of averages dictate, I have a feeling it won't be close.

I also thought Blatt was kind of shit tonight. Especially with a playcall when the cavs had a chance to win it before ot.

he didn't play great tonight, 2/8 from deep, 10/22 from the field but...yeah that's 23 points, 7 boards, 6 assists, 44 minutes they now have to account for

and they only played 8 dudes tonight. 6 of whom scored. 5 if you don't count Thompson's lone field goal

This is why I didn't buy into the bench/supporting cast. I always felt them getting to the finals said more about Lebron than it did about them as a "team". Thompson is a good rebounder but offensively limited. JR smith on offense is the most predictable thing ever. It's always an iso stepback jumper. Shump is a good defensive player but offensively limited other than for wide open 3's. Mozgov is a good center so that's nice but its not a difference maker at least when they have bogut and other players on the other side who match up relatively well. Then you have a lot of utter crap. James Jones shouldn't be in the league anymore. Marion seems to have completely fallen into the doghouse or is just considered washed up although I'd much prefer his defense to whatever Jones throws out there. Mike Miller was a wasted signing. Perk was a wasted signing. Delladova is what he is but against the Warriors he's a horrible matchup. He's awful defensively and needs help to get his shot. The rest of the bench isn't worth mentioning.

With a healthy kyrie and Love it would have been a fun series and I'd probably favor them. But it always felt like they had no chance once everybody got hurt. Hell I think they should be proud. This might be the best game they play this series but its not going to be enough.

It's a nice story to celebrate them getting to the finals in the East. And it takes nothing away from Shump and JR smith because they are giving it their best. But they are outmanned and outgunned except for Lebron. Maybe next year. They need a deeper bench obviously. Cut most of those guys. And establish something on offensive other than Lebron iso, because while that's a really good thing to have, it doesn't work against a complete team in a series in the finals. It's been demonstrated so often now.

It will be Year 2 for Blatt. Let's see that offense he was supposed to excel at, otherwise it might as well be any other random nba coach. It can't be just enough to get through the east because this is the 2nd year in a row it's not going to work. You have to match up with what the best of the western conference teams are doing. They need a style change.
