I got about halfway through the first season of Boardwalk Empire while it was airing then stopped watching for some reason. I thought it was great, don't even remember why I stopped. I think that's what I'll go through next.

because it's inconsistent and has no interesting characters outside of Capone. I heard S2 was great but just haven't been able to will myself to give it a shot. Plus I know the big thing that happens towards the end and even that didn't compel me to try.

Well knowing that thing kinda made me not want to watch.

I couldn't make it through the first episode.  Steve Buscemi is an awesome character actor but I just don't think he really works as a lead.

He doesn't work at all imo. Alec Baldwin was originally considered for the role. My god, that would have been perfect.

I really like the first ep of BE though. Scorsese touch

Oh lordy

Touch of Cloth

Thick of it - series 4

Both fantastic.

Thick Of It is the best comedy around - maybe requires "being a Brit" but i will never tire of sweary Malcolm Tucker (though not in episode 1 of series 4 due to focusing on the coalition - Peter is an awesome character)

The School part of Episode 1 is absolutely brilliant.

I love The Thick of It. I feel like a lot of it probably goes right over my head because I know pretty much nothing about British government but Malcolm Tucker may be one of my favorite characters in a comedy, he's always perfect. I need to watch the first episode of S4.

Instead of going through BE, decided to watch some Supernatural, which has been recommended to me by a lot of people as something I'd probably like. I know the first season is apparently not up to par with some of the later ones but a couple episodes in and I'm enjoying it so far. Light monster of the week stuff, but the show really rides on the great chemistry between the two leads and they're entertaining enough to keep me watching.

So for years now, people have been telling me that I gotta see Breaking Bad.  They kept going on and on about how good it was but I just never got around to it because, well, I got shit to do.  Like watch Project Runway and talk about the dresses at work with all the other ladies.  You know, important stuff.

Anyway, last weekend we went out to dinner with some friends of ours and Breaking Bad came up and when I told them (again) that I hadn't seen it you would've thought that I just took a hot piss in their ears.  Now it was to the point I was embarrassed for not watching this thing so after we got home from the beach on Saturday we started episode 1..........

We got through season 2 by last night.

Holy crap.  This shit is awesome.  It's crazy that it took me long to watch it but it's also kinda cool that I can basically watch the entire series straight through.  No waiting a week at a time for a new one to come out.   Can't wait to get home and watch some more.....

Finished Homeland. Damn, the second half of the last episode really fell off a fucking cliff.

Homeland's going to be one of those shows that has potential but drags on and on teasing the audience with events like

but never really follows through on them.

The "she's 100% correct but no one will believe her because she appears / is crazy" bit turned me off the show pretty much indefinitely. Maybe season two will turn things around, but I really don't see it happening. It's not quite Dexter levels yet, but it wouldn't take long to get there.

I'm not really talking about the entirety of the season, more the last episode. Prior to her breakdown, the CIA didn't have much of a reason beyond inner-office politics to not believe her. She doesn't connect enough dots until she's clearly lost it in front of everyone that matters and can't stop anything, but nothing actually happens anyway.

It's an entertaining show, but you'd have to be delusional to think it won't continue to ride on tropes to remain so.

Hoooooly shit, it was good. But having such an obvious bad guy as Pope play the villain seems too convenient, especially since he's a lot like that white supremacist in the second season where they both hurt relatively innocent people connected to the club.

Also how the hell haven't Clay or Tig died yet?

I was fucking vexed HARD at the last episode. I'm sure it was originally going to be a perfect single season show, but it became huge because of the other dross on TV. If you feed someone shit for a year, and then give them instant noodles, they'll think it's ambrosian nectar.

I had a problem with the show before the last ep, mostly due to the seeming sacrifice of character for plot twists. The finale kinda sealed it.

But overall I still loved the show and am looking forward to this season to see where they go.

the episode of Louie where he went to see his dad held such promise. the meeting with F Murray Abraham was perfect (interestingly contained the only reference by show-Louie to the fact that he has a show) and the premise had a lot of potential for emotional impact/depth. i wasn't however interested in watching Louie throw away the whole set-up for a cop out Eastbound and Down homage. i know his character on the show is supposed to be emotionally underdeveloped/conflict avoiding but it seemed like an expensive route to take to convey that and ultimately not a very satisfying one.

i loved the episode before the break, Garry Marshall was incredible and i liked the idea that Louie could thrive under that pressure and actually achieve something good for himself but this new episode it seems he's taken a step backward and is completely useless again. i enjoyed Lynch, he's always a pretty commanding presence but it did feel a bit like him "doing Lynch" at times. the juxtaposition of him smiling for the audience with and without applause was perfect. hoping for an 'explosive finale'.

and i keep forgetting about Boardwalk Empire tomorrow night!

Started Sons of Anarchy tonight. I liked the open payoff of the fire marshall in the first 5 minutes. Was more sad about the mexican immigrants who die in the warehouse fire than anything else in the show. Perlman is pretty good, lead actor is good. For a pilot, it was impressive.

Sons of Anarchy does not get better season to season and saw a sharp decline in quality after Season 2, with Season 3 being absolute dumpster fire. Season 4 was a little better, and the jury's out on Season 5. However, Jimmy Smits is pretty awesome.
