MLS game weekend highlights!

I watched the DC v NYC game and it was tragically hilarious. Watch this if you want to know what NOT HAVING DEFENSE LOOKS LIKE.

To be fair, the Red Bulls have a big player out for three games due to a horrible foul, and are suffering badly from injuries. Still, their defense was awful. On the upside, Pontius scored himself a hat trick, and rookie Nick Deleon scored a goal. Red Bull's Thierry Henry free kick was pretty good, but too late too little.

This game definitely pulled the United as Eastern Conf contenders. But it ended up putting me asleep around 75 minute mark. :lol

I also caught the Portland and Kansas City game...

It was hilarious. Sporting KC up until this match had an undefeated record so far this season, and they totally lost it against the fucking Timber. Hilarity.

It's gonna be tough. Barca has a lot of pressure now that the national title is gone and Chelsea has the tactical advantage that they didn't catch a goal in their home match. If Chelsea scores one goal, Barca needs 3, so Barcelona needs to balance it's defensive and offensive actions. On the other hand, I'm still sure that Barcelona is the clearly better team and their defense is actually the best when they're playing offensively so I say either 2:0 or 3:1 for Barcelona.

Barca will walk it, their recent form has been good still, they outplayed Real.

Barca is the best team in the world bar none so every match is theirs to lose

Predictions for Tuesday's second Barca-Chelsea match? Surely Barca won't lose three in a row.

Barca is the better team, but had weak links in last weeks match up. If they tighten their defense they should do well. My bet is towards Barca.

I find MLS really easy to get into and I think they're doing better. I think the only way for them to get better is to support them. With more support we get better players, and with better players we get better footie.

Though I (slightly) prefer rugby, I've been getting into the game since the World Cup 2010. I was enthralled by the level of athleticism and the game was relatively easy to understand so everyone could know what's going on, while at the same time, having the internal strategy of a chess game, but with constant action. The prevalence of diving held me back from becoming a full on fan of the sport, but the MLS helped me along the way and ever since this MLS season started I have been following it like a hawk.

World soccer not so much and I'm excited to get into it as it seems something interesting is always going on.

edit: MLS may not be the best, but I think they're trying to do a lot of good things for the sport. Particularly in regards to goal tech:

I think Barcelona will at least make up that 1-goal deficit in the second leg tomorrow. I felt like they had a ton of chances in the first leg that they didn't capitalize on.

I agree. Some goals I'm surprised they missed. It seemed to me the game was a clear cut case of bad luck on Barcelona's part, not that there weren't holes in their defense.

I honestly didn't know Henry played in MLS now. That's pretty cool. What aging superstar will we get next?

Apparently Michael Ballack is going to play in the MLS next season.

It is time for all other clubs to resume their poor imitation of our style of play and lose to us with dignity. After all, everyone knows that playing disciplined defense within the rules of the game and then using patience and precision to score on the counter attack is still cheating and equivalent to puppy murder. Actually, it's worse. Defending is worse than puppy murder.

When the numbers of games played and the structure of the leagues are so different, it doesn't make sense to gauge the popularity of sports by comparing the attendance per game, does it? But still nice to see that there's a rise in attendance in the MLS.

messi's the good player. the only reason theyre "good" is because it's home talent so they can drill into these little spanish kids heads that the most important thing in football is to pass.

real madrid are a real team and so are citteh. barca are just eh

"Football is obviously broken," said Barcelona midfielder, and defender of all that is right, Xavi. "When the team that just scores the most goals is ruled the winner over a team that holds the ball for the vast majority of the match only because the rules say so, something is very wrong. And it is time we correct that wrong. Because Cesc is suffering."

fabregas is a joke. he was great in the EPL where the standard of playing is 13 shitty teams and 5 good teams. once he goes to la liga where he actually has to face Real Madrid and teams in the CL with a smart manager he's exposed for the hack he is.

yes, because little spanish kids are obviously the reason for barcelona's success in the last four years. obviously it's just one long continuing fluke.

Well, it's really not that important to have the best players (see Chelsea or Manchester City, you're never going to win the Champions League when you can't build up both a team chemistry and squad that works together) if you can have players that are taught to play perfectly together. Although Barcelona obviously has a lot of great players besides Messi.

yes it is entirely the reason. barca show why a good academy system works. it's incredibly hard to buy players and get them to learn a different tactic then 4-4-2 which most clubs use.

but all im saying is that if i was putting together a list of the best players in the world, only Messi would be on it from Barca
