Don't believe what people say. Barça didn't do tiki-taka! It's completely made up! Don't believe a word of it! In all team sports, the secret is to overload one side of the pitch so that the opponent must tilt its own defence to cope. You overload on one side and draw them in so that they leave the other side weak.
the only explaination i'd accept of this is that it's just an evolution of the Dutch "Total Football" ideal just with passing and pressing being the utter key - to the extent you through traditional formations and positions out the window.
So really, Tiki-taka isn't anything other than Total Football+. Even then Pep introduced -radical- improvements so....
but yeah - one of the big critisicms of Tiki-Taka is it reduces your ability to switch flanks - which expedites the stretching of defenses if you have the talent. But Barca weren't doing that, so i think this is more just distancing himself from it before he gets into "Tiki-taka is over!" conversations (which have already started happening and it's forever associated with Pep, even if he took it to it's plinth, he didn't start it...)
