Fortunately for me, I got really lucky. We both want the other to be happy, and neither of us asks for much of the other outside of reliability, honesty, and companionship. In exchange, we both give and get a best friend, amazing sex, and something to look forward to at the end of the day.
Not to mention that either of us would feel very sick if we had more than $20 spent on ourselves. Her and I take more stock in self-made gifts and hand-written letters than things you'd find in a store. Plus she's a gamer nerd, so anything I want, she does as well. It's an extremely mutual relationship as we do a lot of sharing and the only money we really spend is on a trip to see each other.
No, I'm not gay or whipped, and yes it's a long-distance relationship. To my understanding, we're both very grateful to have each other and it's been that way since day one, so to me there's nothing like seeing her happy.
