didn't see this thread made when it was announced but i'm not shocked because killer 7 is for G's with Good Taste.

I can't wait to replay it and hope this port is good. :lawd

I've waited for this for years. TOP 5 GAME OF THE PS2 GENERATION.

The story is why I want to replay it again so bad. One of the best game stories ever. The Lynchian comment is so on the nose.

I also happen to love the gameplay. :yeshrug Sue me, haters. It's like a first person shooter Resident Evil. I love unlocking the characters, making your way through the stage, stocking up on blood, making critical decisions towards beating the mission. Changing characters depending on the enemy you're fighting. Upgrading the characters' abilities. I think the gameplay is legitimately good. Suck it haters.

Oh right, the biggest was Amirox and he's in prison. :rejoice

Post by: paprikastaude on July 29, 2018, 12:20:24 PM: Maybe the shooting controls could have been a little tighter, but I played through it 3 or 4 times just fine. I only didn't understand how to play Killer8. Iirc in that mode you didn't see the enemy weak points, which made some parts impossible.

But that boss fight is hilarious

I also find the boss fights ingenious. The fight with Blackman, the duel with the anime girl. Creative shit.

I never played through this game (have had it since launch and it's still sitting on my shelf) because I thought the controls were pure shit, but I'll check it out in HD. Maybe they'll do something to improve the game play too. :P

Goof Troop is worth playing, a fun, although short, co op puzzle game.

I really enjoyed it. So did Svejk. I think the way the game was advertised versus what it really is threw people off- it's not some Resident Evil-style game, it's a pure 'old-school' shooter, just done in 3D. You go from room to room shooting and dodging robot fire...that's it. It also has a cool atmosphere and an awesome soundtrack. It really clicked with me in an old-school arcade sort of way and that's probably what you feel find in reviews on it- the way it plays is pretty polarizing. I think a lot of the people who played this were expecting something more like what Vanquish ended up being, and this is not like that, from a game play standpoint, at all.

One thing I really liked is that going back and replaying stages will put the rooms you traverse in random order. Helps to make stage replays feel more varied. But the reason to do this is to basically grind for points to get upgraded suits. Once you get some certain suits or don't care about getting all the upgrades, there's no reason to go back and replay the levels to progress, but you can do it for speed/combo runs.

It sucks that this game bombed because I would have loved a sequel or next-gen HD port. At least it scales up really nicely on emulators.

I really think the way I feel about this game is the way Himu feels about Killer 7, but for different reasons. (PN03 and RE4 are my favorite Capcom Game Cube games easily.)

The requirements shouldn't be too high. It's a ps2/gc game and it's a port. So it's not like you'll need anything beefy.

This is'nt being done by Capcom, but just like with the Silver Case, a PS4/Switch port is probably not out of the question.

The original, like a lot of Capcom games at the time, didn’t have subtitles in cutscenes (besides the freak characters like our bodyless friend and the gimp). For such a story heavy game this is a no no. Is that fixed?

Either skip the cutscene or turn your head so you don’t see the tip. The game is better when you tackle boss fights fresh and with no idea what the fuck. In the original you couldn’t skip so I just turned my head away.

The game is full of Suda 51 stuff. Apparently some Silver Case-related things and a lot of Shadows Of The Damned content, including a themed level.

That is weird, yeah. I hope we at least get some more PC ports if nothing else- would like to see Lollipop Chainsaw and Shadows Of The Damned get ported up.
