Amazon leaked the title and release date for a new PSP Gundam game yesterday. Geo E Shop came through with specifics today.
According to a listing at the online retailer, Gundam Assault Survive is a new Gundam series from the developers of the Gundam Battle series of titles which has thus far seen four entries on PSP. Players assemble a squad of three Mobile Suits and work through a real time map.
Gundam units number over 300, spanning from the Seed series to OO. In addition to 100 characters from the series, you'll be able to create your very own original pilot.
As detailed in the original Amazon listing, Gundam Assault Survive will see release on March 18.
I'd play it if it were on consoles and had free online.
PSP monster hunter is not really my thing. Especially since I can't use ad-hoc party.
Yeah, it's probably Armored Core :\
A.C.E. 4

A.C.E. 4
Please?
Watch it be SD Gundam Force: Showdown! 2 or some shit.
I'm pretty sure that the popular robot game will just be another Super Robot Wars, I think we've had a couple of weeks since the last one released.
Does anyone here even play the SRW games?

Queen's Blade is made by the same people who make the SRW games.

I know, but it's still not SRW. :P
What's the point of only doing one season of OO? It's been enough time that any gundam game with OO should just have the entire thing.
I'm surprised Unicorn isn't in the game.
I hope that a Unicorn game is in the works for the PS3 and 360. That would be awesome.

FIXED FOR JUSTICE
...though let's face it, the Unicorn game will probably be on the DS.
The 360 is dead in Japan [except for shmups], and Bandai doesn't appear to give a shit about Gundam in North America and Europe.

It's not dead yet, but certainly on its last legs. There's loads of talk this week about people selling off their 360s now they have PS3s. I guess the ratio of PS3:360 sales of multi-platform games is just going to get worse and worse. There certainly won't be too many Japanese exclusives from now on.

Guess that's the mystery game!
Now that Wii Everyday is no longer updating with Famitsu "scans," where is the best place to go for them?
I would like a sequel to Remote Control Dandy/Gigantic Drive/Robot Alchemic Drive.
The scans of Armored Core 5 form this week's Famitsu are out:

Woah shit a Tetsujin-28 game? Is it any good?
:lol It's the same game; awesome!
I'd import this but I don't understand Japanese. :'(
Armored Core 5 is going to be awesome. I just hope the achievements aren't as absurd as AC for Answer's (10,000 wins, 10,000 kills, etc). Are there any scans yet from the latest Famitsu?

I never picked up For Answer, but I'd like to.

btw, I'm up for Gundam online one of these days. I dunno how balanced it will be since I've beaten all of the entire first mission so far and you are like MASTER OF GAME but I'm up for giving it a shot. Thu/Fri/Sat are the best nights for me, but I can play on other weeknights to after I get school stuff done. I'm just pretty exhausted and will be less enthusiastic about it on those nights :P
Speaking of which, did that MechWarrior game just fall off the face of the planet or something? They showed a trailer, but I haven't seen or heard anything about it since.

Was that trailer in-game? I'd imagine it was just a target render or something. It gave me Steel Battalion vibes so I'll preorder 10 copies.
On JP PSN there is a closed beta for a program called "Gundam Viewchives"
Mr. Gundam, any idea on what it is?
This is currently a rumour at present but it seems the next Gundam Versus game, that’s been hinted at on the official site, will be Gundam Unicorn focused. This would mark a return to the series specific approach that the games had prior to the Gundam vs Gundam shift a few years ago. This also means we’ll get to finally see both the Sinanju and Banshee in a game with any luck. In addition to this news, it also appears that the Unicorn Gundam will also make an appearance in Gundam Assault Survive and separately Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus will also receive some “Special Edition” DLC sometime in April. In any case, we’ll know for sure on these by the end of the week.
I just want a Gundam vs Gundam game on the PS3, 360, PS2, or even Wii :maf
I tried the demo for Gundam Assault Survive, btw. Seems exactly like what you'd expect if you played any of the PSP games except the first one that was a bit stiff.

Anyone ever play Bulk Slash on the Saturn?

http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=9019703
yes, actually. It wasn't that long ago either (2008 I think?). It was pretty fun. I forgot how recommended it to me, but I was checking out various import games for the Saturn. Somewhat related: Blue Destiny on the saturn is pretty fun too.
-no more series beyond those 11
-1-3 units per series, so 20-30 units total
-no Sazabi
-no vocal songs from the show while playing as the unit
:'(
lol, no. Nu is the only unit from CCA universe. :-\
ACE:R trailer is up!!!!!!!!!!!If only the game looked like that. :-\

No Gurren Lagann kinda boggles the mind. It's the perfect super robot to take the place of something like Shin Getter.
Sounds like the gameplay is quite similar to ZoE? Would definitely be keen to try ACE:R when it comes out. Probably not going to be an NA release though huh?

It's a little bit like ZoE, but not really. No chance in hell this is getting released outside Asia, but since the PS3 is region free it doesn't matter.
distantmantra annihilated. :(
I will go to the cafe next weekend and post pics. It will be like you are there, except for being able to eat the overpriced food!
I'll focus on the waitresses. :drool

More Details:
- An Internet connection to Namco's ALL.net server is required at all times. The game WILL NOT BOOT without an Internet connection.
- Namco will bill each arcade 9 yen (tax not included) per play on EVERY machine. This INCLUDES Free Play / Service credits.
- You must notify Namco to pay any outstanding bills before reselling any units.
----------------
Thoughts:
- If there was any doubt before, there shouldn't be now. This game will NOT get a PS3 console port. Ever. Erase this desire from your thoughts. If you want to play the game, it will have to be in a Japanese arcade, period.
- Again, see: Gundam vs Gundam AND Gundam vs Gundam Next, both based on PS2 hardware, which never got a PS2 release due to the high price for arcades. The last Gundam arcade game to get a true port was Rengou vs Zaft II, which was before both titles in the Gundam vs Gundam series. Extreme VS is also guaranteed to be arcade-exclusive.
- I believe this game makes history as the most expensive non-medal/pachinko/pachislot title for Japanese arcades EVER.
- No other arcade video title charges per play, although I believe other online/networked titles such as Border Break charge a flat monthly fee for network play (correct me if anyone knows otherwise). This will be the first time that a company charges the operator per play in addition to having to pay the full price of the machine/kit.
- This model may change the business model for the future of Japanese arcades, further segregating the smaller mom-and-pop arcades from the larger, corporate arcades (like the Sega, Taito and Namco-owned arcades). This has been a trend since 2008 since titles like Street Fighter 4 and Gundam vs Gundam Next, that a mom-and-pop arcade might purchase, were unexpectedly announced with higher prices than many locations could not afford or make a reasonable return on investment.
Yeah, PS3 port by the end of 2011. Mark my words.
GvG / GvG Next ports don't count because they were on portables? uh huh.
Zero's unit does look pretty lame. And is that the Guren behind it? The best mech from Geass with its Burning Finger 2.0
Image is blocked at work. Unit 3 is Amuro's unit from Green Divers, right? The white and purple one?
When did Amuro ever pilot the Zeta Gundam?
Just preordered ACE:R with NCSX... $92 w/ USPS Priority Shipping... :o
Ouch.

:'(
Until the yen/dollar ratio fixes itself I'm actually glad most of Japanese development has moved to the PSP/DS. I don't think I could keep importing if all the games were PS3/X360 and $92 each to import.
I'm also waiting for the US versions more these days since after Amazon sales they are $40-50 or less. Will live with the crappy dub and get Basara 3 in the US for $40 instead of $90 import.
$40 is an awesome price, but no way am I waiting on Basara 3. Been heavily anticipating that game for a long, long time, and I am not willing to live with a crappy dub. :p
$92 with USPS shipping for ACE3 is insane, however. You could just wait for Play-Asia to open up pre-orders and get it with UPS shipping for that price...it would be cheaper and you'd get it on the day NCS gets theirs.
One game I am passing on right now is Deathsmiles II. $70 just seems like too much.
Is it even sure that Basara 3 won't include Japanese audio as well?

Yeah, Capcom rep said it won't for sure due to space issues (lol)

Lyte, the game is going to be $80-$85 at PA + shipping. With UPS it'd be over $100.
The Japanese game is 8300yen after tax
A whole bunch of screenshots from ACE: R. Looks pretty cool. Maybe it'll be the first ACE to get released in the west.
God, Harmony Gold is such a fucking parasite.
The head guy at harmony gold who held up everything over the years just died though, so people are speculating that negotiations might happen with the new president of HG to finally get over this Macross banning.

In the latest Famitsu, the new “original generation” or OG mecha have been finally shown for the upcoming ACE R. This is quite common in the ACE games, as the first game had a Cloudbreaker (from Murakumo) and the Gespenst Mk.II (from SRW). Following on from this in ACE 2 and 3 were the Gunark and the Ixbrau (the latter designer by Takayuki Yanase of Gundam 00 fame). These new designs are interesting, not only stylistically but also in the fact that it shows that the “base” ship is not one from any given anime. Called the Ark Alpha, it has shades of the Novis Noah from Brain Powerd. The Alphato also bears a few uncanny similarities to the mecha in Argento Soma. In any case, we’re happy to see the OG tradition carry on through to ACE R.
^Doesn't look much better than the PSP games.
You pick a series (No original and no CCA) and play their storyline for a few stages before the actual crossover surrounding Planet Aria begins.
SEED Destiny’s story takes place after Final Plus, where Messiah has fallen and Shinn is fighting an unknown enemy which has access to the Destroy Gundam.
So now that I'm playing SRW K, it got me thinking when are we going to hear about the next SRW? Now that OG Saga LoE as come and gone, there are no upcoming SRW games.
I'm guessing since Banpresto makes ACE, they are putting the focus on ACE-R now and will announce a new SRW after it releases.
Don't they have like a yearly SRW festival? Mr. Gundam, do you know when those are?
I hope the next one is console and either Z2 or OG3. Probably will be PS3 either way. Though I could see putting one on Wii and one on PS3.
Anime-wise, I figure Geass and Gundam OO S1 is in for sure (S2 possibly). Otherwise no idea. Not a whole lot of robo action in the last 5 years. Eva movies are still too early probably. Maybe the Imagawa Mazinger.
I actually kind of wonder if Xenosaga has a chance to one day show up in SRW. It feels kind of late for that, but SRW console games are always years behind. I mean, the Xenosaga cast are already crossing over in the terrible OG Saga rpg games and since Bandai/Namco owns the license, it'd seem possible. All the characters and bosses pilot unique mechs and Gnosis are great fodder enemies. In fact, I kind of wonder why they never included it 3-5 years ago, even in a handheld one.
It would be awesome if Escaflowne showed up. That one's never been in a SRW game and it's a Sunrise title, isn't it?
I have that one too, but never played it. You mean the SRPG, right? The anime sequences are included as an extra in the Escaflowne DVDs (dunno if you have those).

Just saw the pics of the Gundam Cafe in Akihabara.
They have Zeon beer glasses for sale.
Why couldn't this have been open 12 days ago? I want a beer glass!

12/2007 - OG Gaiden is released. Last game by OG team
2008 - nothing
2009 - nothing
01/2010 - OG characters cameo in OG Saga 2
06/2010 - OG characters in Masoukishin remake
08/2010 - OG characters in ACE3
...
I think OG3 is getting announced by TGS for xmas or early 2011 release.
Oh fuck no. Licensed mecha please.
I'd take an OG game, but I don't have this love for the stuff like others. I'd much rather have another crazy mashup licensed SRW.
Is he just a color swap?
Is he just a color swap?
Yeah, especially with the name of the game being "trial" frontier, it does sound like a trial version of a full game.
A Namco Bandai earnings report from a couple of months back hinted that the company might be combining video and gaming content for an adaption of the "Macross Frontier ~Itsuwari no Utahime~"
(Macross Frontier the Movie: The False Songstress) movie. Famitsu confirms this to be the case this week.
Debuting on the pages of this week's issue is Macross Frontier ~Itsuwari no Utahime~ Hybrid Pack. This single Blu-ray disc release includes the False Songstress movie and a new PS3 game that's based off the movie.
The PS3 game is titled Macross Trial Frontier. The magazine describes the game as an original title that follows the flow of PSP's Macross Ultimate Frontier, but with the expected rise in visual quality. Gameplay systems are based off the PSP game, allowing for smooth form transformations for your fighter and battles that fill the screen with missiles.
Characters and mecha from the movie will appear in the game. Variable Fighters include VF-25F, VF-25G, YF-25, VF-25S, RVF-25 and Queadluun Rare. More will be announced in a future update. On the character front, you'll be able to select songstresses Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee as support characters. They'll assist you in a variety of ways, and you'll of course get to hear their music during combat.
The movie side of the package includes the full "Macross Frontier ~Itsuwari no Utahime~" movie. Namco Bandai isn't skimping out on the bonus content here. You'll find over 50 minutes of bonus footage, including promotional specials and a video involving Sony's own Toro Station.
Both components will ship on a single Blu-ray disc. You'll need a PS3 to play Trial Frontier, but the video part of the package will be playable in a standard Blu-ray player.
Look for this rare PS3 and movie hybrid on October 7 at ¥7,140.
Not sure who is making the Macross PS3 title. I hope it's ArtDink (Macross Ultimate/Ace Frontier and the Gundam Battle series developer).
This totally seems like a demo for a full-fledged Macross PS3 title sometime next year. Still going to buy this day one.

ACE:R has custom soundtrack integration to make up for lack of vocal songs.
So you just need to put the vocal songs you want to get with each unit on your ps3 and then you have ACE with vocal songs :)

I don't think anyone has really figured out that part of them.
hate this game
it's one of those real shitty games you put up with for the fanservice, but I dunno, I think this one may be even too shitty for me.
Until I see the staff credits I'm not going to believe this was done by the From Software team that made ACE1-3.
So apparently:
-game was supposed to come out in 2009 but someone pushed really hard for Macross F to be in so it was delayed until 2010 to add it
-Macross F is the only series in the game that gets its full anime storyline covered
-Macross F cutscenes are the only non-skippable cutscenes in the game (but they are a good chunk of the cutscenes including the longest ones)
uhhh...wat

Gundam Musou 3 was announced
according to someone on gaf, it had 00, Unicorn, X and 0083
or just 00 s2 because it is 00 Gundam with the Raiser
Need better scans. Apparently there's online coop. Maybe other stuff too?
did the second game have CCA suits in it?
I only played the first DW Gundam game. For anime games like this, I usually pick up every other game in the series.
If Nu was in 1 then I'm just forgetting it.
The first game had an amazing story if only for the interactions between characters. Domon vs Loran (or Kamille?) was the best. Domon puts those damn pacifists in their place :punch
Gameplay looks the same, but who cares, it works don't fix it if it ain't broken.
Gundam Musou 3 is December 16th
7800yen
I'm hearing it has no story and is just a mission mode of tons of missions and tons of units.
Will probably wait for JP user reviews and not get it day 1. After ACE:R I can't trust them with that day 1 money.
Did anyone play Front Mission Evolved? I played it a bit, and it seemed kinda crappy but I only played the first level.
Waiting until I can get it for $10.
Waiting until I can get it for $10.
Might take a while unfortunately. SE is very slow to price drop.
Famitsu has a look at the online component of Gundam Musou 3, which is due for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release on December 16. The game will have four player online co-op play complete with exclusive online mission. Players will be able to support one-another through healing and so-forth.
Dear Japan,
YOU FUCKING SUCK.
SD Gundam G Generation World for the PSP and Wii? What. The. Fuck.
Oh yeah, another Macross Frontier game on the PSP, too.
Japan, you used to be cool.
Even if it's for kids, it will please you with a depth that might surprise you.
First DLC unit pack for GM3 comes out a week after release on the 23rd.
Also the Big Zam is really annoying to fight and all the non-story maps are random. I got owned by it and lost the map and then I tried the map again and it was a completely different layout with no big zam or MA and I won easily. I think I'll use that knowledge to avoid fighting MAs in non-story missions.
So what's the online like?
I'm tempted to get this, but I still have Sengoku Basara 3 and Hokuto Musou to finish up, Sengoku Musou 3Z hits in February, and then the big one...Shin Sangoku Musou 6, is hitting in March, and that one looks like it's going to end up owning all the rest.
Is there a new Famitsu this week? It has yet to leak.
AT and KMF's armor are so weak that they can die from just one hit. (with no upgrade)
Chirico is really strong, but his first Scope dog is really really weak. It gets 'bit' better with Custom Scope dog.
Chirico doesn't talk much. Most of his quotes are ....
Votoms and Code Geass will appear together a lot and have many cross over.
On Terada's latest message with 2nd PV being finished, he mentioned that he got a game over while testing out the game because he wasn't thinking straight due to lack of sleep. He mentioned that he wasn't suppose to let the red unit die. I was guessing what that unit was, but it seems like it would be Karen's KMP.
>Terada has been very busy most projects are SRW related. He's going to try and take it easy because he doesn't want to deteriorate his health.
>Shin Mazinger was a welcomed change since it'll represent the mazinger saga from now. I wonder how it will work with Great Mazinger.
>Change Shin Getter Armageddon - Terada always wanted to use this version in a proper SRW since D. He's making sure the staff gives all the love it deserves
Quick notables
>Eureka 7 will be a new world and story
>Aquarion events will change in Z2
>Zeta Gundam is the 1980s version
>Amuro has a new mean look because of the events of Z2
>Possible secret units if time allows it
>UMD size isn't an issue, loading time was, so they added a install game feature to reduce loading time and be apar to SRWZ
>They worked hard to make Gundams cut-ins as dynamic as possible. Terada noted that 00 will shine in this.
>New Animations for the original SRWZ cast and new Dynamic Kills
>Animations will change like in SRWZ if you fly or you're in ground. It was hard to do for ATs.
>PV2 should be out by end of Feb if not sooner
And finally
>The moment gurren lagann became available , Anno wasted no time to call Terada. Terada said "I think it was 2am..i was still in the office eating Cream Wafer Chocolate with Tea, I picked up the call and Anno's first words "So you got any space left for those SRW for gurren lagann? " I think that made up for the bad day I had It made me quite happy to know we could finally use Gurren Lagann in a new SRW game"
>Terada said the reason they chose PSP for (Terada wanted it for PS3) was because it would cost less to produce such a massive game and it was the best place to put the game. there was a lot of argument because of the system they wanted Z2 to be in.
>Terada said that Wii/PS3/3DS/PSP are the best choices for future SRW right now.
Regarding gundam shows.
ZZ is a no show because of some Story issues and licenses between sunrise and bandai. Sunrise and bandai have something big planned for ZZ but nothing other than that was said.
>V Gundam won't appear *yet*
>Wing Gundam will have it's plot covered they won't jump straight into EW
>Gundam X will have a few tweaks and fixes
>Turn A Gundam will play a big role
>New CCA units might appear
>They are waiting for Bandai and Sunrise to finish with Gundam UC so they *may* add it in a future SRW
One last thing Terada hopes to bring out about 6 SRW games this year alone
>Terada's favorite shows of recent years were Godannar, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, Shin Mazinger
>Terada wants to give Godannar the big screen treatment
>Terada thinks that SRW getting exposition in the west is a good thing. He also notes that the western gaming market has too many guns games.
This one is VERY interesting
>Terada read Fukuda's twitter and said "Well, I felt Destiny left me empty when it ended, the mecha designs and characters were enjoyable but the story not so much. I did what a lot of people wanted to see done to destiny...and it's too bad that Fukuda doesn't agree. But in a professional level, one most improve other works for it to be successful"
>Terada is pleased to see how people do a lot of Fan related SRW material. he says he saw a picture where a SRW game (fake) had a bunch of tv shows that he didn't even thought about. That thanks to the fans and their art AND dedication him and his team have been trying to bring forward their dreams.
>Terada answered Gunbuster and Diebuster will appear in SRW at one point but in his own words "I want to see how Evangelion, Gurren Lagann, Gunbuster and Diebuster would fit in it. It should be a lot of fun seeing these shows together" [[size=15t]YES YES YES YES[/size]]
>Finally before the end of the event Terada said that OG3 is no secret it is in works but the fans have to wait a bit longer for the announcement. This will be the year of Super Robot Wars.""
>Terada said the reason they chose PSP for (Terada wanted it for PS3) was because it would cost less to produce such a massive game and it was the best place to put the game. there was a lot of argument because of the system they wanted Z2 to be in.
Blame Japan consumers abandoning consoles and focusing on handhelds :\
But I need MISTAH BUSHIDO now...
:(
I don't fancy playing Japanese games.
Dunno if I'll need to get Lacus & Lunamaria up as well.
:(
I thought you were MR. GUNDAM. There are Gundams in this one!
In April?
Bumpy Trot 2 is also officially canceled.
IREM is fucking toast at this point.
Ummm, guys, are we sure everyone on the Irem team wasn't killed in the earthquake/tsunami? This is really getting weird.
Banpresto and Bec Merge to Form B.B. Studio
Super Robot Wars series producer Takanobu Terada hints at new entry in series.
Posted Apr 06, 2011 at 11:00, By Anoop Gantayat
Banpresto and Bec are no more. According to Super Robot Wars series producer Takanobu Terada, writing at the Super Robot Wars series blog yesterday, the two firms were combined on April 1 into the new "B.B. Studio."
Bec, short for Bandai Entertainment Company, was previously a Bandai Namco Games subsidiary that developed countless games based off such franchises as Gundam, Digimon, Dragon Ball and Evangelion.
Banpresto once published games, but its publishing operations were moved to Bandai Namco Games in 2008. The name Banpresto continued in relation with games as a publishing label for titles like Super Robot Wars. Although Terada's company is now called B.B. Studio, Super Robot Wars will continue to carry the Banpresto label.
In the same blog post, Terada provided some hints about an upcoming Super Robot Wars game. A recent railer for the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release for Super Robot Wars OG The Inspector (see it at the Inspector official site), had some mysterious footage that seemed to hint at a new title. According to Terada, this new footage was from the opening demo video of an upcoming game. It was created by the CG team at B.B. Studio.
Terada said to expect further details on the title some time after the April 14 release of Super Robot Taisen Z 2nd Hakai-hen. Famitsu is actually promising a big Super Robot Wars series feature for this week's issue, but Terada's comments seem to suggest that we won't get a look at the new game this week.

Word of Level-5's involvement in the new Gundam Age series leaked out of Coro Coro Comics last week. Now we have details on just how involved the developer is in the project.
As reported last week, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino is working on the story and series framework for Gundam Age, which will span the full gamut of media, including manga, anime, a toy/model line, and games.
The big question for Level-5 fans was, would Level-5 be working on the games? The answer is yes. Namco Bandai revealed today that Level-5 is developing a new RPG based off the series.
Separate from the RPG, Gundam Age mecha and characters will also feature in the next SD Gundam G Generation title. Namco Bandai's press release did not mention Level-5's involvement in this.
The platform and release time frame for both games is currently TBA.
How Level-5 got its hands on the Gundam license
Posted on 06.15.2011 at 17:49, by Anoop Gantayat
Level-5 is known first and foremost as a game developer. But now, all of a sudden, CEO Akihiro Hino is heading up story work on an original Gundam series, Gundam Age.
How did Hino get his Fukuokan hands on one of Japan's most prized franchises? In an interview with Famitsu this week (via Sokuho), Hino reveals that Level-5 was originally asked by Sunrise to just make a Gundam game. He was interested in more than this, though. He wanted to work on a Gundam project from the lowest levels.
Although nothing had been decided in terms of creating an anime, Hino created a lengthy plot summary. Upon seeing this, Bandai decided to go through with a full anime (scheduled to hit the airwaves in October).
As we reported yesterday, Level-5 is still making their Gundam game, said to be a large scale RPG based off Gundam Age. Famitsu does not provide further details on the game, whose platform is currently being kept under wraps.
Well it worked for them the first time, so it makes sense to repeat it.
Was the game with the first one any good?

2011 marks the ten year anniversary of the Gundam VS series of Gundam games. Namco Bandai will be celebrating the franchise at two summer events.
First up is Character Hobby 2011 C3xHobby. This event will be held at the Makuhari Messe on August 27 and 28. Namco Bandai's booth will have all the Gundam VS. arcade games available for free play.
Next comes Tokyo Game Show in mid September. Namco Bandai will hold the Gundam Xtreme Versus 10th Anniversary Dogfight in Tokyo Game Show tournament, a tournament using the Xtreme Versus arcade cabinet.
The Gundam VS. series kicked off in 2011 with Gundam Federation VS Zeon. The series has seen a total of nine releases, including the latest, Gundam Xtreme Versus.
We have our first confirmation of a Namco Bandai Tokyo Game Show title today courtesy of Weekly Famitsu. The magazine reveals that the just announced PS3 version of Gundam Extreme VS. will go playable at the September event.
Namco Bandai will also have the arcade version at the show. This will be used for a tournament.
Famitsu has an interview with arcade version director Tetsuya Akatsuka and producer Yoshitaka Goto. In addition to the Tokyo Game Show info, they reveal that the PS3 version will include all the content that's added to the arcade version right through the home version's release. The home version is based off the latest build of the arcade version, which is due to hit arcades this Fall.
Regarding the game's network mode, Akatsuka said that they're aiming for lag free play. The game already feels extremely good even ahead of release. Players can create their very own rooms and gather with their friends to play. These rooms can be set up with local rules. Akatsuka said they have some ideas to keep this area of the game from being too much work for players. He promised details in a later update.
Goto promised lots of content for the home version, although he wouldn't divulge details. In addition to the background music edit mode mentioned in our earlier story, one other mode mentioned in the interview is a practice mode which lets you learn the controls. One of the ideas is that you'll be able to practice at home and take your new skills to the arcade.
The PS3 version will have a number of other new features that aren't revealed in Famitsu's article. Akatsuka promised the announcement of some surprising information soon.
Develoment on Gundam Extreme Vs is currently at 70%. The game is due for December 1 release, priced ¥8,380.
Is Crossbone console exclusive?
Anyone have the upcoming DLC dates for DW Gundam 3? the Euro Koei site had dates up to KShatriya's release but thats it.
I bought both and I cant move on!
Cool
Will pre-order it when ncsx puts it up. GvGE & One Piece Musou should make nice xmas gaming.
Seems like a lot, I was thinking 1 or 2. But the more the merrier.
I'm guessing Z2-2 is August-Nov 2012.
4Gamer has a piece on the console port of Gundam Extreme Versus and its all new game modes. From a new “Trial Mission” setup, where you can clearly face off against Crux Dogatie in the skeletal EMA-10 Divinidad (shown above). In addition, the limited release XM-X1 (F97) Crossbone Gundam X-1 Kai Kai “Skull Heart” in the arcade edition appears to be a fully accessible unit in the console port (as also shown above). Following on from that there are two confirmed PS3 exclusive mobile suits in the game, that of the GN-002 Gundam Dynames and the MBF-P03 Gundam Astray Blue Frame 2nd L.
Talk about color overflow. Looks like a game for the MLP crowd :|
What's the purple gundam up top? One of the Astray gundams? Also the top right blue/white/yellow...V2?
As expected, it only covers Itsuwari no Utahime & Sayonara no Tsubasa, but it plays perfectly, everything is beautiful, and once you see how much flak comes from any given Vajra capitol ship, you'll know that this is what everything before was building up to. OMG!!
Also, plays more like MUF than MTF, I'm guessing the newer missile lock mechanic wasn't super popular. There are 10 stages, 5 for each movie, and like the demo last year the first round of stages have locked characters/mecha, and once you beat them all, you can play with mecha/characters you've unlocked. There's a decent amount of Trophies, and so far no sign of being able to level up mecha.
A few additional details have surfaced regarding From Software's PS3 adaptation of Gundam Unicorn. As detailed earlier, Gundam UC will cover the first three episodes of Unicorn and will include almost all Mobile Suits that appear in those episodes. Publisher Namco Bandai is planning a release for some time in Spring 2012.
Here are a few additional bits from an interview and feature in this week's Famitsu:
The developers are trying to give the game a feeling of speed. They're also putting effort into recreating the Mobile Suits, both with details and with a feeling of weight that makes the Mobile Suits feel real. For transformable Mobile Suits, you'll see the transformations take place right before your eyes -- no transition screen to cover up the details. Sunrise apparently expressed surprise at the level of detail in the Mobile Suit recreation.
The game will have an incredible amount of voice. The scenarios include cast members like Banagher, Marida and Frontal. These scenarios appear to be intertwined, as playing through a scenario for one character will unlock a scenario for another character.
The scenarios will be told in full CG, although it appears that some scenes will be shown in anime form as well.
Only a few gameplay details have been revealed so far. Famitsu mentions the "Sub Flight" system, where you can climb atop a Mobile Suit that can switch into flight form.
So why is From Software making Gundam UC? There's nothing really interesting to report here -- Namco Bandai just approached From and asked if they'd like to make a game based off Unicorn.
Of course, From has worked with Namco Bandai in the past. In addition to Namco Bandai serving as international publisher on Dark Souls and Armored Core V, From is the developer of the Another Century's Episode series.
In ACE, you could just mash away at the buttons and your mech would attack and switch between weapons. Gundam UC will give you the option of using an updated version of that simple control system.
Development on Gundam UC is currently at 70%.

Mr. Gundam, I've been replaying Z2-1 (first time replying a SRW in new game+) and I keep thinking how it's CRAZY you haven't played this yet. The animations, music, voices are all so good and GUNDAM OO everywhere. You really should pick it up and give it a run through one of these days!
That's good, we needsuckerspeople to actually buy this so we can find out if it's good or not!
btw, I heard the Macross F games were really good? How short are they?
I like how G Gen has really obscure characters and gundams in the main missions. Like I fought CHAPMAN the sniper from G Gundam with the French roses dude.
I get the feeling the dozens of videos they keep releasing are an attempt to say "LOOK, THIS GAME DOESN'T SUCK LIKE OUR LAST ONE. PLEASE BUY"
When is UC out? At this point I just want to know how it turned out.
The Hyakushiki Delta looks really nice. Surprised how close to the Hyakushiki it looks. Is the Delta supposed to be based on Hyakushiki?
This machine is how the MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki, which was initially developed as a transformable MS but completed as a non-transformable MS due to problems with insufficient frame strength, would appear if completed as a transformable MS. While AE was trying various approaches to develop a production model of the Zeta series as a transformable MS, it also simultaneously conducted a reinvestigation of the shelved Delta plan. It's said that a few units of the Delta Plus were produced as a mass production prototype.
The Hyaku Shiki (codename: "δ Gundam" (Delta Gundam) is a mobile suit built by Anaheim Electronics as part of the "Zeta Project". Originally designed as the MSN-001 Delta Gundam, the unit was intended to be a test unit for the transforming MSZ-006 Z Gundam by incorporating the "movable frame" technology found in the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II and back-pack wing binders for additional mobility, though defects in the frame design rendered it incapable of transforming to mobile armor mode. The Delta Gundam's transformation capabilities would be used in the production of the MSN-001A1 Delta Plus while the gold armor was used to create the Hyaku Shiki. The Hyaku Shiki sported a gold-colored frame, utilizing a prototype anti-beam reflective coating.
When the Hyaku Shiki was created, the gold color on the alloy was not intentional. Instead, it was supposed to be what Anaheim Electronics called "anti-beam coating". AE had anticipated the growing use of beam weapons like the beam sabre, beam rifle and beam cannons which led to the development of anti-beam coating to armor. This coating is to replace the use of I-field generator ,a device which generates an invisible anti-beam field which is also very large and drains a lot of power from the generators. Thus I-field generators were only installed on mobile armors such as the RX-78GP03D Gundam "Dendrobium Orchis" that saw action in U.C. 0083. The use of the anti-beam coating for a mobile suit is very expensive, and thus, the Federation could not fund this. Only the wealthy individuals of Zeon such as Char Aznable (Quattro Bajeena) can afford one. As Char went under a guise during his time with the Anti-Earth Union Group, funds from his previous resources could be redirected and expended on the development of the anti-beam coating. Anaheim was willing to develop anything for anyone with the necessary funds.
It is based on the MSN-001 δ Gundam, a transformable MS designed during the Gryps Conflict that, because of problems with insufficient frame strength, was completed as the non-transforming MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki. CG models of the Delta Gundam exist on the net, though it was never built. While Anaheim Electronics was trying various approaches to develop a production model of the Zeta series as a transformable MS, it also simultaneously conducted a reinvestigation of the shelved Delta plan and created the MSN-001A1 Delta Plus as a result. It is said that a few units of the δ Plus were produced as a mass production prototype, with one machine being sent to the Nahel Argama in U.C. 0096.

Namco Bandai Readying Free Gundam Online Game for PS3
Six on six online action coming in June!
10 min. ago / Anoop Gantayat / 0 Comments
Gundam UC is now out. Time for the next PS3 Gundam game to be announed!
This one's a bit different, though. Famitsu has first details this week on Gundam Battle Operation, an online Gundam game that will be released to the PS3 in late June. The game is free to download. Basic play is also free.
Developed by B.B. Studio, which also worked on 2nd Super Robot Taisen Z and Masou Kishin II, Battle Operation is a six versus six action battle game. In addition to taking on the battle field in your mobile suit, you'll also have to run around as a pilot at times.
Famitsu does not have details on how Namco Bandai will be making money off the title, but one can speculate we'll get lots of paid items. The game's concept is apparently "a deep game that can be played at length without payment."
Namco Bandai will hold a closed beta test for the game. Interested parties will be able to put their name down for one of the 10,000 slots between March 29 and March 31. Expect details on the beta test once the game is formally announced later this week.
There was a new commercial for it during AGE last night, looked cool. JPTV is a great little program.
Also, UC review:

How much DLC have you bought though :P
Well after Nu and Sazabi where else are you going to go?
But it's been a year now. I don't think it's going to price drop any further?
Might have a Best version eventually. Dunno. Some games just don't drop in price. Especially if they are quality and not over shipped.
Anyhow, it's cool. I'm just giving you shit on this because you're the only other person here who used to play SRW games too :P
At least we can both play 2nd OGs in 2013. When they finally announce I release date I'm planning on powering through OG Gaiden to be caught up.
Is the game enjoyable without buying any of the DLC?
Ok, never ordering cheap shipping from PA again. My UC Gundam came but I wasn't home and so I have to pick it up from the post office because they require a signature. The $10 shipping I saved is not worth the hour of time it's going to take during the work week to pick it up :\
Cool. I wonder if they will ever sell the games separate.
That 1up link you posted on FB was pretty sucky. Left out all kinds of major Gundam games like the VERSUS series that is one of the best Gundam games and revived the Gundam popularity in gaming :|
omg this looks amazing. I wish this came over here :(
It's a non musou game right?
why cant i have this? :(

2nd SRW OG gameplay!
When's ZOE hitting? Been out of the loop since it way announced forever ago
Yeah, I'm totally importing that for a high price. Love me some ZoE2 J-track.
omfg, I want that macross, god dammit trans it please.
Anyone playing 2nd SRW OG this november?
This is the pitfall of liking some niche genres and genres attached to anime properties. Always out of luck unless you can read the runes :(
I don't really have time to play rpgs/srpgs/any game longer than 6 hours anymore :(
Anyone buying EX Troopers? I liked the demo and I see that P-A is selling the Asian version for $50, but I'm still not sure if I'm going to buy it. With just a story mode and co-op game play, I think it will get old pretty fast. Wish it had a versus mode like Lost Planet 1/2.

I've got it preordered. I never play multi, so the single-player is just fine for me.

Screw it, ordered it since at that price with Fedex shipping it ends up costing the same as buying a game from a brick n' mortar store. Let's do co-op.
Here you go dudes:

My play-asia order of 2nd OG is being "prepared". I'm still trying to finish Alpha Gaiden before it arrives.. might be able to rush through it.
I think I might be the only person here playing it anytime soon so I'll try not to bump the thread too much.
Maybe they're about to announce Boost and want to nickel & dime people first.
No UX trailer posting Mr. Gundam? I realize it's a sad SRW entry, but it's still a SRW!
GIVE IN TO THE HANDHELD FUTUREEEEEE
If E.X. Troopers was any indication, my copy of 2nd OG should be here in the mail today. Hyped.

MAIL FAIL.
:'(
One thing that is AWESOME and is why I LOVE SRW is the first map starts with Destiny taking place in the same world as Fafner. Like the first ep of Fafner has Kagari/Athrun/Shinn on the island base helping out with the defenses since the island is under Orb or something. AND IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE SINCE EVERYONE LOOKS THE SAME :lol :lol
Gundam Breaker is that the Vita game?
So it's the prerendered stuff they used in MK2? Obviously rendered at a higher resolution this time for PS3/Vita.
It must be winkysoft developing it, too. Well let's see how they do.. I wasn't impressed with MK2.
So I'm on the very last mission of Macross 30. Fantastic game and well worth buying if you have any interest in Macross.
OE arriving soon.. MK3 next month.
Anyone playing either?
if i wanted to get a game with robots and stuff on ps3 what would be the best pick? ACE? gundam musou?
35 missions? Wow. I thought they said there was going to be 20 in Chapter 1?Most of them are 5-10 minute filler where you kick around some grunts.
I got Zone of the Enders HD collection from gamefly today, never played either so I'm excited to dive in tonight
I played through the prologue on MKIII, but that's it. Been too busy with other things so videogames have taken a back seat. They really do push out a lot of SRW content every year.. I've fallen behind on OE. Trying to catch up to Ch 4 before Ch 5 comes out in like 10 days..
Yeah. I'm for sure importing that.
I lost my DLC for the original, so haven't bought anymore. I was getting pretty tempted with a lot of the newer units, but I'm glad I held off.
Don't remember and can't access my Japanese PSN account for my new slim PS3 after my old one died. There's probably a work around, but I just haven't been smart enough to look for it.Yeah. I'm for sure importing that.
I lost my DLC for the original, so haven't bought anymore. I was getting pretty tempted with a lot of the newer units, but I'm glad I held off.
How did you lose the DLC?
Now playing SRW Dark Prison, starring Shuu.
Booted up Gundam v Gundam Extreme (the old one) to get back into how to play the game while I wait for Full Boost to ship. Man, this game still holds up amazing. Graphics and gameplay are fantastic, tons of content. This is a good series. I should've got Full Boost last year! Really looking forward to it and Breaker 2.
fuck i want breaker 2, but i fear the moment i go for it, bamco is gonna announce a us version
Well, I do know that some parts will make your mech play differently in terms of combos and such (some give you crazy martial arts moves), but I get what you mean.
To me this is just another meh Gundam though. Shin Gundam Musou shits all over it. You gotta be a big fan, I guess.
I get more fun out of looking at the Breaker 2 pics in the gaf thread of mechs people have made than actually playing the game. It's not bad though, and I'll probably put enough hours into it to be worth it over time. I think one of the big problems early on is that it's not about making the gunpla you want, because you want the better stats, so you pretty much just use the best pieces you have and end up with weird looking gundams.

That describes every Gundam game outside the Versus series. I'm surprised you keep buying these titles, Bork.

Ok, so vaporware. You've been in the gaming ring long enough to know all the placeholder names at system launch are nothing but names of franchises that "might" appear on the system someday. Wake me up when we actually start getting some PS4 gundams.
They should release that Gundam pod arcade game when Morpheus hits for VR, would be sweet.
Does AirMech count as a mecha game?
I’ve been playing it as part of my inexplicable delve into F2P, it’s published by Ubisoft on 360, and the production values are quite high.

Oh, no! You'll be traveling and drinking excellent new beers instead of sitting at home and drinking excellent known beers! THE ANGUISH! ;)spoiler (click to show/hide)I'll be out of town all next week on Spring Break. Oh well.[close]
AirMech sorta launched and then I never heard anything about it. No updates, no DLC, no mention of it anywhere else I'd seen. When it came out I had only done the tutorial and a few solo challenges, so I decided to try it some more before losing the chance to play if it were removed (also ref: World Series of Poker, Ascend: Hand of Kul), but then it turned out to be more engaging on replay, so I'm kinda into it now.Oh, no! Ah, I didn't know there was actually a teaser. I stand corrected. Hope it's decent!

Not going to try the beta?
I was at the model shop the other day and found there's a Gundam videogame based on the plastic models. I'm guessing it's old news here but it seemed like synergistic marketing genius to me.
No, but the Asia version is region free and in English. Can import it from places like Play-Asia or buy digital off the HK store. Just make sure you're getting the English langugage version.
I'm getting V this week, but Nier Automata is out the same day in Japan, so gonna play that first. And just a bit of V on the side so I'll be behind you Mr. Gundam and going slow.
Are these SRW games hard?
Apparently SRWV added a "Beginner's Mode" this time as well.
Weird, I'm only a few maps ahead of you (map 46) and I still have it and can change back into it.
Long time no mecha gaming.
Anyone else playing Gundam Versus?
Long time no mecha gaming.Yes, a lot actually.
Anyone else playing Gundam Versus?
Yeah, I don’t play a ton of games, but I’ve been messing around with Gundam Versus a bit during my recovery (Bebpo, I had open heart surgery a few weeks ago FYI). Held off on the import and figured I should support the local release which was waiting for me when I got home from the hospital. Still maining Crossbone X-1 like I did with the PS3 titles. Playing with Delta Plus, Pale Rider and AGE-1 a bit, too.

If you want to play against me. It's Rahxephon91.
I'm a noob and mostly use Exia and/or Barbatos
I got a PS4 last Thursday and all I've been playing is Gundam Versus. Who else here has it? I need friends.

Gundam Breaker 4 for PS4. Sounds like Europe and North America will be getting this one, too.
Was hoping for something more like UC 0081 or Gundam Unicorn, but I'll take it.
BTW, has anyone tried the upcoming Virtual-On/Railgun game-thing? There's demos out on PS4 and Vita that I forgot all about.
Starwing Paradox, the new project by Evangelion character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto is getting an arcade game that mixes MOBA elements with high-speed mecha action.
The game runs an 8v8 system where the objective is to take over the enemy base and defeat the “Ae Grande,” a powerful enemy that guards the core. The first team to do so first is the winner. The game has some MOBA elements as far as rules go, but the gameplay is a lot different than what you’d expect from one, with flashy battles with mechas.
Hmmmmmmmm, wonder how much they are going to keep the Extreme and Versus line separate. 2018/2019 will be interesting for Gundam fighters.
New SRW is out! Mr. Gundam did you pick it up?
I got X yesterday and did the first few stages. The fantasy magic land srw is fun. It's like doing a licensed Masou Kishin/Lord of Elemental SRW. The early stuff with Wataru is really silly fun samurai Super Robot stuff. It should go well with Gurren Lagann S1 plot. I like the OG mech so far. I normally go with the guy (especially because usually guy MC gets super robot and girl gets real robot) but the guy's character design sucks in this one so I'm going with the female MC. I need to restart as the guy to see if he gets a different mech (I assume he does).
Anyhow it's interesting that the game also has 3 difficulty modes this time. Beginners mode, Normal/Hard mode (traditional SRW), and Expert mode. Last year I thought SRW V was a pretty good SRW entry but it was ridiculously easy, even in hard mode, so I'm tempted to run expert mode, but some of the SRW truly hard games like A portable and stuff are no fun because they're just frustrating save/reload all the time. So gonna see how it goes with standard SRW hard mode and decide later whether to switch to expert.
I'm probably gonna play X pretty slow for a bit because I want to finish G Reco in anime form before seeing the story spoiled in this game.
I saw ads and vids for this while I was in Japan. I didn't know an English version was coming out. I don't need to know anything from the previous games, right?
Cross Ange is in this game? Boobs everywhere? :doge
My copy still hasn't shipped.
Oh well.
They hate G-Reco so much when one of the support cast joins as a playable character...they give him a CCA sprite-rip grunt unit because they don't want to bother drawing a G-Reco grunt unit lol
And yeah, they troll every fucking backpack upgrade in the game. Bellri puts it on for a map story event, rams some enemy and then the backpack breaks and you never get to use it -_-
Can't believe I'm 20 maps in and G-Reco still just has the same 4 attacks he started with. Especially coming from a show with a million upgrades and attacks. AGE got better repping in BX.
At this point I'm down to two theories, one is someone at SRW really dislikes G-Reco, the other is that X was rushed and they didn't have time to animate G-Reco much so they decided to just get the basic units/attacks done and G-Reco will show up in the next licensed one with IBO where they will do it proper and animate the backpacks and attacks and support units. Idk!
My copy still hasn't shipped.
Oh well.
6 months isn't bad if you're playing other stuff + life. I'm only playing this since it came out + life and I get maybe 4-5 stages a week in.
At least these games are shorter. I was telling duckroll when I got it and saw the scenario chart that these are more like the handheld entries in length.
Z3-1 w/branches included is like 110 stages iirc, Z3-2 is like 120 so like 230 stages combined
V was ~70ish stages last year
X is like 62 including all branches
V/X length SRW games are a lot easier to handle since that's really only like 40-60 hour game vs. the 100 hour long ass SRWs.
Metal Wolf Chaos on Xbox?
Metal Wolf Chaos on Xbox?
I cant believe a game so perfect for me exists
Up to Scenario 10 in SRWX, interesting that they're doing Guren Lagann AFTER the series/movies.
Up to Scenario 10 in SRWX, interesting that they're doing Guren Lagann AFTER the series/movies.
They aren't. It's after the first half/first movie. They haven't done the space stuff with the anti-spiral yet and all the upgrades. Pretty sure they're going to treat it like Z3-1 where the last 10-15 stages of the game are that.
:'(
:'(
Good thing I still have SRWX to play. I'm on Scenario 40 and really enjoying it.
:'(

Told you that you were going to beat it before me :P
I'm on 39 :P I also am enjoying it. I changed the BGM on Buddy Complex to the Coupling Mode BGM and G-Self Perfect to Flash of G and those BGMs are great. Everytime Coupling Mode BGM goes on it makes all the attacks really epic and Flash of G and Dunbine have that sexy sax going.
I am a little annoyed that they're waiting so long to do Gurren Lagann space arc meaning you only get to use the upgrade units for a few maps each before the next one. But I guess SRW will always struggle to fit GL's space arc in during everyone else's plot.

Mr. Gundam, how's your progress in X? I've got to 45 now in one of the routes, but I still need to do 41 or 42-44 in the other route since I do all routes when I play. I think this is the last branch so might actually finish this in a week or so...
If I didn't have a crazy social life
If I didn't have a crazy work life
If I didn't have stuff to do in FF14 all the time
I'd get through more games :'(

I'm on Scenario 48. I'm not doing all the routes, just sticking with the Gundam stuff when given the choice.
I don’t remember the final boss in V being this cheap.
It can attack four times per round and has a map attack that can kill any unit even if it’s max’d out.
So I'm on the final ending route now and I looked up the guide to see which choice is the true ending path to make sure I pick the right one. Then I checked the secrets page to see what I missed. I didn't use a guide at all this time around and I got like 90% of the secrets. I only missed 1 secret stage (Char), 1 optio nal recruit from Buddy Complex and unlocked the true ending route.
Pretty good, except then I read that Nightingale was locked behind the 1 secret stage I missed. FUCK. Very unhappy Nightingale was hidden boooo. Time to go youtube all attacks.
*edit* watched the attack vids, looks ok. While I like using Hi-Nu as a unit thanks to the map attack (and Nightingale's MAP attack seems just as good), gotta say it's kinda sad both units have kinda so-so static animation considering that Nu Gundam has the most gorgeous animation in the series. It's like you get to go to an uglier upgrade :X The final all-range attack with Nu's choreography is so fucking weird too. He beats up the unit and slashes it and then a space swan lands and he falls asleep and wakes up and flies away...what? Even for newtype stuff, that's pretty odd though I dunno what Hi Nu's canon story background is if there even is one.
F2P mecha goodness with Border Break and Gundam Battle Operation 2 both hitting the Japanese Playstation Store in the past week.
F2P mecha goodness with Border Break and Gundam Battle Operation 2 both hitting the Japanese Playstation Store in the past week.
How are they?
Oh, they added single player to Border Break? Hmmmmm, might pick it up next time in Japan or JPSN sale. Outside of Gundam Vs. it's hard for me to get into arena fighters since I don't play MP and they get old pretty fast.
There’s a copy of the PS4 version of Generation Genesis for just $40, and Amazon themselves have it available for $5- with same day delivery despite it being an HK import.
Will probably get it next week and post my impressions, but I’ll just stick with GBO2 to hold me over until then.
How does super robot wars play?
Is it sort of like fire emblem?
That sounds sort of disappointing... but I’ll try one out if localized.

SRW is at its best when epic awesome shit is happening and vocal songs start playing and it's like HOT BLOODED PASSIOOOOON as you re-enact the super robo punches as they're thrown in game.

For those of you that got the Asia release of SRW X/V, during the character dialogues outside battle does it show up half and half with the Japanese dialogue and then English below it? Or is it English only?
I’ve never seen full metal panic but have some of the more kits.
They have a cool design.
Edit: Screenshots of the snow make the series look full weeb.
Angela Balzac is an agent at the space station DEVA, whose inhabitants have no physical bodies, their minds digitized and processed into a virtual reality environment. After failing to track down the hacker known as "Frontier Setter", who had infiltrated DEVA's systems dozens of times to gather allies for his cause with no success, she is tasked to look for him down on Earth, now a barren planet where less than 2% of the human population lives. After being given an organic body and sent to the surface, Angela meets Dingo, her contact on Earth, who cuts off all communications with her base, in order to prevent Frontier Setter from discovering their location as well, despite her protests.
Expelled From Paradise was a fun movie. The main character is less of a jerk and more just ignorant to being human- here's a good synopsis:QuoteAngela Balzac is an agent at the space station DEVA, whose inhabitants have no physical bodies, their minds digitized and processed into a virtual reality environment. After failing to track down the hacker known as "Frontier Setter", who had infiltrated DEVA's systems dozens of times to gather allies for his cause with no success, she is tasked to look for him down on Earth, now a barren planet where less than 2% of the human population lives. So I think it's more like she's too dependent on all things DEVA and learns what it means to be a person in the real world. Both mental and physical since she had no idea what it was like to be tired or what it feels like to get sick. That kind of stuff.

Yamato and FMP are in SRW? I've never played an SRW tbh.
Love mecha, but unfortunately Transformers don't count. :( They're just giant robots because they're sentient and can't be controlled.
It does look cool. I love they're embracing the "my soul burns with a fiery passion" Super Robot cheese.
Up to Scenario 41 on SRWT, and they just announced a 20 scenario DLC expansion pack. I guess I know what game I'm playing all summer.
It looks cool but I'm still kinda hesitant on games made by Chinese developers. I'm just so used to Japanese/Western devs and I've never played a really good Chinese-developed game yet and sorta associate Chinese developers with Mobile, so I'm not sold yet. If it's good I'll play it though. It does look cool. I love they're embracing the "my soul burns with a fiery passion" Super Robot cheese.

Wait, they announced 20 scenario DLC for T that is not just the 20 or so DLC stages that take place during the game and are all fluff? Like a real expansion with new content? This is different.

(also on PSN)
Overall the game is fantastic. The gameplay is smooth, the art is flawless (imo), the story is presented well, lots of upgrades to purchase and unlock (like other weapons and stat boosts). There are some translation issues with the dialog but you can fill in the intent as some words just don't make sense in the flow of the conversation.
However, the game is missing what was advertised. It does not include any co-op or additional modes.
Proof: http://www.rocketpunch.cn/game.html
There is no arcade mode. There is no survival mode. A large portion of what this game is advertised as having at launch literally does not exist. This is the only real flaw with this game and is significant enough for me to leave a negative review as the developers are not answering where this missing content is.
I have every intention of changing this review the moment these modes are added to the game as, again, the game is flawless except for this one very serious problem.

Real expansion pack that brings back original X and V units and characters. Came out today.
Starwing Paradox was such an amazing game :mouf
The weapon types feel so good, though it sucks it is tied to RNG.
Played some ranked games with their game card and had an absolute blast carrying the team as a fast nu-mecha pilot.
Only fault is that it has one map with various times of day, but the rest was amazing.
Edit: In terms of gameplay, the gunplay was really satisfying. There were melee weapons, revolvers, snipers, machine guns, gatling guns, laser canons, missiles, homing bubbles, shields, shotguns... lots to play around with. The arcades in general there were insane, and it sucks to see so many cabinets not making their way to the US.

Is the Switch version of T very good? It’s been years since I played SRW and saw some videos that looked good but presumably that’s the PS4 version.
The new G-Gen is coming out soon, but just don't care. Barely played the UC one, G-Gen just moves too slow compared to SRW which is already pretty slow even with animations off. I tried going back to my SRW T save at ~map 30 and do a map but coming from Fire Emblem where I have animations off/fast everything, it just makes SRW feel like molasses. I finish a FE map in like 5-10 mins but SRW still takes like 20-30 with animations off, though that's partly because of all the dialogue during battle which FE doesn't really have.
Anyhow I'll beat T pretty soon. Probably after I finish FE. Still on board to play each SRW game that comes out (though they could speed them up) but G-Gen I'm out until they make it faster and improve the lineup though the Iron Blood Orphans spinoff stuff in the new one is kinda interesting since it hasn't shown up in any games yet.
Guessing in a few months they'll announce next years SRW for March/April/May. It's got to be 3rd OGs at this point. It's been so long. I'm hoping next year (2020) is both 3rd OGs and the new mainline SRW with Iron Blood Orphans in the fall.
Daemon X Machina is out this week. Anyone try the latest demo?
Probably developing new shovel ware for PS5 launch next year.
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Masterpiece 1995~2001 will launch for PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store on November 27 in Japan for 4,500 yen, Sega announced during a Tokyo Game Show 2019 stage event.
The collection will include the following three titles:
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On (1995)
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram M.S.B.S. Ver. 5.66 (2000)
Cyber Troopers: Virtual-On Force (2001)
All three titles support online battles, and in addition to regular ranked matches, new functionality is being added to enable tournament battles, league battles, and team battles in rooms. Each title is also compatible with the Tanita Twin Stick controller.
Oh, that last one was PS3? Dang that is a while.
Marvelous has released the version 1.1.1 update for Daemon X Machina, which adds “Versus Mode” and more to the game.
In “Versus Mode,” you can use your Arsenal to battle locally or online against other players. There are both “1-VS-1” and “2-VS-2” options, and you can search for friends from your friends list to invite to your room. Rules consist of “Ranked Match,” where you compete in the rankings with set rules, and “Custom Match,” where you can set your own rules.
Additionally, in the online “Co-Op Mode,” you can also challenge other players to a “Duel” by attacking them in the time between completing an order and returning to the base. Duels support up to four players, and begin when the player the challenged player returns fire.
Just realized they didn't announce a new SRW for March/April/May/June. Can't remember if they've waited to Jan/Feb in the past to announce or whether this is the first year in like a decade they didn't announce a new game.
Wonder if OG3 is still behind schedule lol. Those games have the craziest animation, but damn they take forever to make.
Picked up the SE Asia version of Cross Rays with some Christmas money, didn't realize the original version of Monoeyes was included as a downloadable title.Just realized they didn't announce a new SRW for March/April/May/June. I've been wondering about that as well. It seems like we've been getting an announcement sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas last few years, but nothing happened.
Yeah, I'll pick it up, but it's hard to get excited about a what? 6 years old game? When the sequel Ex Vs2 has been in arcades for 2 years already...
Weird dumb choice by bamco. Why didn't this come out 2 years ago when Ex Vs 2 hit the arcades? That's what they used to do. Home version comes out each time new arcade revision comes out. I do hope it has some nice single player mission modes like Full Boost did though. MP only stuff is less and less interesting to me every year.
Just saw the unit list, mehhhhh
Hopefully they add a bunch of Ex Vs 2 units as pre-order DLC and paid DLC like Full Boost got. I'm guessing Lupus Rex would probably be a big pre-order DLC.
Just realized they never announced a new SRW. OG team is slowwwww, but the quality is worth it so I guess we will wait.

I should have been using a guide from the start as well as multiple saves. I’ve made my share of mistakes playing this game. I might get around to replaying this game someday but since I have X and T available I’ll play them first. Still had a lot of fun with this game so I can’t complain too much!
I bet the Hathaway's Flash movie series will also be an anchor in this title.
As a Switch only owner, I don’t own MD and I’m surprised they haven’t ported it over unless it would be a big enough downgrade.
I’ll stop playing in expert mode. I think that mode might work better if you’re playing NG+ and able to transfer some key items. I would assume an expert mode would reward or punish the player for using things like combination attacks, utilizing terrain differences, etc. and not just requiring more SP to ensure your attacks hit the enemy. More lessons I’m learning about the series!
Just realized I created this thread TEN YEARS AGO. Wow.
Maxi Boost ON is digital only in North America and Europe. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I was almost done with scenario 28 of SRW X when the game crashed on me :( This is the third crash thus far. Kind of annoying and I don’t recall that happening as often on V.

That sucks.
Do you save at the start of each turn? I do that. Very helpful sometimes.
Yeah I set a button to quick save and just do it at the start of every turn in case I need to roll back. Especially helpful when going for SR points.
Beat SRW X. The final boss was a cakewalk thanks to the various upgrades I made. The highlight was Char’s funnels attack where I had smash hit and soul selected that resulted in 55,000 hp in damage to the final boss. Masaki’s cosmo nova attack dealt another 35,000 hp in damage. I think I had seven or eight robots wipe out all of the final boss’s hp. I was able to defeat the final boss before they could unleash some BS map attack.
I liked V better than X though. Now onto T!
Anyone buy the DLC for SRW T? I see the bonus scenarios are entirely locked out in DLC. I enjoyed the bonus scenarios but I’d have to work with my credit card to accept charges from Hong Kong for the Switch Asia store.
Initial impressions of SRW T is that it introduces a lot of concepts right away like sub orders and seems like there’s a lot more customization slots for robots: 20 levels vs. the 10 levels on V and X. Also my main character is almost an ace pilot and I’m done with Scenario 7.
So I was browsing the Playstation Store and saw that Gundam v Gundam Maxiboost On comes out in about a week on the 29th. Glad I saw this because the pre-order bonus unit is Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex and they've been really shitty about releasing pre-order bonuses for purchase at a later date, so if you don't buy it in the next 12 days you might be shit out of luck for Lupus Rex.You can play free arcade mode & multi every Saturday until launch iirc, just have to download the demo on the PSN webstore.
Considering Lupus Rex is the unit I'm most interested in, since otherwise this is an oooollldddd assss game. I'm glad I got my pre-order in.
Dunno if I'll get $60 enjoyment out of this at this point in my life. Hope the mission mode is good like GvG Extreme's was on PS3. Don't see myself playing multi much and I'm thinking about letting my PS+ sub lapse in September anyhow because I just don't play anything online and these free monthly games are all terrible.
Very populated too.

I used to be a completionist and so when they started doing DLC missions in these games I would buy them all and do them as the game went along.
They're boring and they kill the pacing and make these kinda slow games even slower. Outside like 1 mission they don't have any new units/animations/enemies and the only reason to play them are for the stories which are just little fanservice bits. There's occasionally a fun little fanservice story like Shinji and the Eva kids training the Gurren Lagann kids, but I skipped buying them for the first time with T and I don't see myself buying them again in the future.
Otoh, they make the game even easier and broken. Each one gives you a pretty good equipment part and a ton of extra money which adds up.
As for T, the 20 levels thing is a thing. Normally on new game+ for SRW you unlock 20 levels of upgrades. But the thing is if you spend on 11-20 with the costs it's going to severely limit the amount of units you get to upgrade from 1-10. So 11-20 makes sense for new game+ when you carry over your upgrade levels and just use your new money from new game+ to further upgrade. Personally I didn't upgrade anything past 10 in T on the first run. And these games are so easy it's not like you need it anyhow. But yeah you could max out a 20/20/20/20/20 unit early on and just have them one shot everything the whole game but where's the fun in that?
Good points. I guess I generally look for other things with this series: flashy robots making all kinds of flashy explosions with big numbers showing up on the screen afterwards. Using various strategies to break the game to where you could wipe out a powerful final boss like what happened in SRW X. I have only surface level knowledge of the anime or manga behind it. Sometimes I’ll see an interesting character and run a search on them on Google or Wikipedia.
Any reason why you're going physical? For the premium sound edition?
Game is out now and downloading it. I watched some vids of the single player mode and it's basically what was in the PS3 version, nothing much more, nothing less. Which was fine then, but not sure how exciting it'll be now. Still will play it a bit and try out some of the new units that weren't in the previous games.
I actually thought about getting a PS4 just for Moon Dwellers. I’m a Switch only owner at the moment. I have a large enough backlog where I haven’t considered another console. It’s unlikely Moon Dwellers will be on the Switch so if I want to play it, I need to get a PS4.
Alright, you all convinced me to get a PS4 with Moon Dwellers and the games Mr. Gundam recommended.
I hear the FMP game is not good though.
The Gurren Lagaan collaboration downloadable content for Hardcore Mecha will launch today for PlayStation 4 and PC, developer Rocket Punch Games announced. It will be available for purchase until March 30, 2021.
Hardcore Mecha is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam, and is due out for Switch on October 15.
Will the physical media version of the PS5 have region free backwards compatibility? Never sprung for the PS4 for Moon Dwellers if I could play it on a PS5.
I saw there's a complete translation released for the PS2 SRW OGs game.
It reminded me that it's mid-December and absolutely nothing announced again for new SRW. It makes me wonder if the mainline SRW teams aren't dead and have been re-assigned to other more profitable namco/bandai games while the smaller handheld team that X//V/T is now handling mainline SRW and taking their time since T to make another one.
Because normally SRW announces their March/April game in December. And for a decade+ they had announcements every year in December. 2020 was the first year in forever where there was no SRW announced/released, and now if there's no announcement, 2021 is iffy as well.
Meanwhile the mainline SRW licensed team hasn't released a game since Z3-2 in 2015.
The OGs team hasn't released a game since Moon Dwellers in 2016.
That's....yeah, not good.
SRW as a franchise has been selling fewer and fewer although Asia sales have helped make up some of the loss. But we still went from selling 300k+ in Japan to <100k per entry.
In the modern game sales economy and with a big company like Bandai Namco, they don't care about their franchises, they care about the bottom line $$$. When they can put the same staff on mobile game development that makes 100 million+ or assist on some HD anime game that will sell well, or have them make a fancy 2d SRW game that will sell <100k copies and only in Japan and Asia because licensing....it just doesn't make business sense for Bamco to invest a lot of money into mainline SRW games anymore.
Definitely a bit concerned that SRW is essentially dead.
And we never even got our Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans entry :(
https://www.gematsu.com/2021/05/relayer-confirmed-for-ps5-ps4
Glad someone is still making SRW games.
As the third Borean who plays SRW, I liked what I saw from the trailer and I know I’m going to buy this game.
As the third Borean who plays SRW, I liked what I saw from the trailer and I know I’m going to buy this game.
I will happily buy it day one. Just please no more Mightgaine. Ugh.
There is a season pass for 2 DLC expansions coming.
Both include 9 new suits, 7 anime / 2 OG
Given everything we have seen from SRW in the last decade and how expensive it is for them to animate a single unit, I'm guessing these are all going to be units from X/V/T copy & pasted. I'd be surprised if there is any new animation/new sprites units, maybe 1 per pack or something.
I'm playing on hard and it's fine except for maps that introduce new shitty units and you have to use them for a few rounds and not die.
The V Gundam introduction map on the earth route is pretty brutal. Those units are terrible without upgrades/parts. I imagine on expert you basically need to run like fuck until your team shows up.
I’m finally cracking into SRW OG Moon Dwellers after all this time. So far so good!
How well did SRW 30 hold up? I’ll probably play that next.
I like Moon Dwellers quite a bit more than V, X, and T. I’m not done yet but it’s a much more solid game.
