I still like Beware the Batman.  The episode with Anarky was kind of dumb, but that shouldn't really surprise anyone.  he was funding other people's reigns of vandalism and it culminated by giving the vandals weapons and getting them to try to destroy gotham city.  newest episode focused more on Katana as the League of Assassins (lead by an unseen female who directed people off screen. sup, Talia?) and was fairly good.  I like Alfred as a british special ops guy in this show rather than passive Jeeves like figure.

Avengers Assemble is pretty cool still.  Most recent episode featured Hyperion.  Iron Man still sounds like Marty McFly to me, but Hawkguy is pretty great.

I might catch up with Burn Notice again. I actually kind of like Michael Westin's actor, at least as the character.

Super fun show but I found that in later seasons the violence got especially cartoony (consequence free fights) and it seemed to cross the line from fun to goofy/lame. I most noticed it when I randomly caught the first ep/pilot and he straight up murders dudes in the head when he was escaping in the beginning.

Probably still worth if just for the "when you're a spy..." tips, which are AAA+++ awesome and worth it.

Season 4 was pretty good, Chrono.  I got halfway through Season 5 before I gave up.  But 4 was pretty damn good (That was the one with John Lithgow I think, whichever season that was is awesome)

I'd heard that. Maybe I'll go back to Dexter for s4.

I love good stopping points, though. After s3 of 24, two character arcs I needed resolved were resolved with extreme prejudice: DONE. Supernatural had a completely brilliant wrap up at the end of s5: DONE. Everyone is calling for another season of Sherlock, but I was very impressed with the end of s2, and would be fine to leave it there.

I agree. I don't think I've ever fully watched seasons 2 and 3 of Veronica Mars despite season 1 being some of my favorite TV ever. It was so complete and wrapped up nicely that I was fully satisfied.

Season 2 is about as good as Season 1, Season 3 is about as good as Season 2 but in different ways. VM has a fantastic series finale, though.

For those of you with Amazon Prime, you should check out The Larry Sanders Show, which is free right now.  This is a great show and I recommend it to anyone who likes Curb Your Enthusiasm or Seinfeld.

Just started watching The Bridge, this show is fucking intense. It has really beautiful scenery and  great characters. Plus the main character has this really adorable Aspergers which is never mentioned explicitly.

I'm doing a bad job of explaining it but it's really great. And preemptive apology to anyone who is more well - learned on psychology.

Give it six or so months after this one finishes and check out the original. Story and characters are more or less the same yet the tone is quite different. I probably found it more compelling but I guess a lot of that's down to not knowing what's going to happen!

Man Jason is just awesome. With no Terry, he's just behind Lafayette as the best character on True Blood.

But otherwise that finale was a total piece o' shit. They just swept all the magical daywalker vamp shit under the rug and pretty much destroyed every single arc that they set up over the season. The Hep V thing and Tara's mom are going to be the most predictable twists to start the next season. And fuck Bill. Fuck Bill. He's a fucking little fuck.

And I ain't gay but I liked finally seeing Eric's cock after 6 seasons.

Good god, Dexter is excrutiatingly bad. It was never a great show, but there's the show is completely adrift with only two episodes left of the series.

If there's anymore proof that the producers have just been dialing it in for many seasons now, this is it. It's somewhat excusable when it's a cash cow and they have to maintain a status quo, but they can do whatever they want know but they don't because no one even gives a shit at this point.

All the secondary characters are a bit over the top, almost caricature-like. So, I could see how someone (that is sensitive) could see it that way if they only watched a few episodes.

Especially when the show puts it into your face right away how tribal their prison lives are.

Yea I think that's what it is, based off the little I've seen in trailers/clips. Obviously there are some...interesting personalities in prison.

Jenji Kohan is not about subtle characterization. Every character is a stereotyped to a degree just like Weeds. At least in a prison context, the stereotypes are slightly more warranted.

So much good shit coming back over the next two months:

Boardwalk Empire
Sons of Anarchy
South Park (debatable but I'll still watch it out of habit)
Eastbound and Down
Parks and Rec
Bob's Burgers
Homeland
The Walking Dead
Ripper Street
Karl Pilkington's The Moaning of Life (kind of a new series but really it's going to pretty similar to Idiot Abroad)

Plus a bunch of Breaking Bad and The Bridge episodes to go. Also that Hello Ladies by Stephen Merchant is premiering and could be alright.

Then in January or so Archer, The Americans and Justified should all be back. We are truly living in a golden age. :bow2

Just finished Orange is the New Black. At first it was nearly too much estrogen to handle but I loved it.Then the finale was a cliffhanger as disappointing as getting cock-blasted with the stench of four anuses with betrayal and hurt emotions left unsettled. It could be like Oz and spiral into a dark territory no one could have seen, but being a Jenji Kohan show, all the shit will probably be magically excused.

walt is a horrible villain.
it's a good tactician but a poor strategist.

He can get himself out of whatever mess he's currently in but he cannot plot a good way out of his overall messes.  He gets his way through wheedling and chipping away at others rather than setting the board so that their only actions, regardless of what they are, will ultimately be ones that he wants them to take.

Walt is The Vulture but has designs of being Doctor Doom, a two bit nobody who managed to have one good idea (blue meth/green flight suit leotard) and dreams of empire but can't keep himself from having to brag to other people about how clever he is.

Because he isn't as smart as he thinks he is.

Walt being a dumb long-term thinker is good. If you want someone who has everything plotted out years in advance just watch The Following, and you'll realize how boring and shitty it is.

Walt's genius is designed to be very scientist-like. He can solve a problem when it is set down in front of him, but he struggles at the bigger picture.

The whole Skyler thing was designed to work like that from the beginning by making her a bookkeeper, which isn't Walt's area of expertise.
