I have a feeling Tales localizations are in for a dry spell again after both Abyss and Graces failed to meet Namco's (silly) expectations.

With that in mind, mainline Tales games should stick to the PS3.  That's where they're pushing big numbers in Japan, and the other platforms aren't even close.

Didn't they say they were very satisfied by Abyss sales in Europe? Several reprints and all. And, above all, they're bringing Xillia. I hope they'll still bring as many Tales of games as possible, especially on digital shops of platforms too ( it can be helpful when there aren't retail copies available, especially given their niche nature right now ).

And yet, you will get none of those.

Namco got burned hard on Tales DS games.  Now, that was partly their fault by leading with the awful Tempest, but I imagine they're holding it against the DS anyway.  Abyss likely didn't convince them the 3DS was any different.  They've announced/released more Tales games on Vita than 3DS at this point, which should send a clear message.

Eeeeh, but Tales of Hearts R doesn't seem to be such a good effort to say there's a shift now ( outsourced, not high budget, some bad modifications to the gameplay), even if coupled with Tales of Innocence R. A Tales of the World: RM4 on Vita would have been a clear message about this, but this...not so much. But yes, I don't see Vesperia/Graces F/Xillia on 3DS possible at all. Maybe Symphonia; I'd like a brand new main entry though.

Yes, indeed. But not that much to buy a Wii U instead of PS3 this year. Such a good idea: Uncharted 2, Bayonetta, Wipeout HD, One Piece (at half the price, thanks PSN Deal!), even Japanese demos like Yakuza 5, such a good feeling. Unfortunately, I have so many older games to buy for it + Xenoblade on Wii ( it should be my January game), but it's also fortunate these old games are pretty cheap now.

It's no doubt Nintendo is facing some big problems in recognition right now in UK. They lost the relevance they had in the past. IMHO, it's due to smartphones / tablets having a relatively bigger impact there compared to other territories ( even compared to US) and the competitiveness between retailers / supermarkets that brings big titles like Hitman Absolution to have half the launch price after just a week, and many HD titles seeing deals after few weeks, since Nintendo and Nintendo published titles aren't so keen to discounts. This competitiveness is something that is making me worried about UK gaming retail industry as a whole: deals after 2-3 weeks are so frequent that there could be a consistent shrinkage of launch buyers (especially for mid / low tier titles, AAA big advertised titles shouldn't be so affected) since people would think "Why to buy it at launch? In 2-3 weeks, it's half the price!", and then gain for both retailers and publishers is quite lowered. It's true this is also a sign that prices are too high, and I'm all for a fluid system of prices where publishers can determine retail price based on budget for developing / advertising, with as upper limit 64.99 for home titles and 34.99 for handheld titles, but still.
