"So lemme get this straight...you kids want a dark, mature Zelda in a "lived in" looking world that takes the series in a fresh direction but with a top down perspective, signaling the series going back to it's roots in order to appeal to your nostalgia, and also you should be able to choose Link's gender?"

*neogaf nods sheepishly*

Iwata (from behind the mirror):  "“You kids don’t know what you want!  That’s why you’re still kids, cause you’re stupid!  Just tell me what’s wrong with the freakin’ game!”

FY 2012/13       -        -      3.06     0.39       3.45    3.45

still impressive.   I couldn't have given less of a fuck about the thing for years, now it's my runaway favorite of the gen.   Mostly because of PS+ and PS1 BC.   The shittier running fighting games sting though.  And the early crap ports are offset by my PC.

If I had a PS3 with PS2 and PS1 BC that didn't run like screaming crap and be guaranteed to break soon like most 60gbs and 20gbs, I'd consider it the GOAT.

No official PS4 forecast yet. Vita/PSP combined forecast for FY13 is 5M, down from 16M forecast/7M actual for FY12.

Seems even Sony has concluded that a Western price cut, PS4 accessory features, and whatever unannounced software is coming won't get Vita out of the hole it's in. I actually wonder if they'll officially discontinue it at the corporate strategy meeting on the 22nd, though that probably won't happen until later this FY.

nothing they could do about the relatively flawed hardware, but as far as free services and PS+ and such go they've made it really attractive for consumers over the past couple of years

PS3 software sales are starting to look better now though , esp if you consider PS3 will continue to sell for the next 3/5 years where the 360 will be dead @ durango.

I mean look at Q3 and Q4 for EA, PS3 overtook the 360. I can imagine this is the case for more companies.

Why would 360 stop selling when Rango is out?
Especially with $99 360 in the works

As for EA,didn't have much time these days but if I remember well EA 360 and PS3 figures and not directly comparable(different ways of accounting digital sales).

The gap between ps3 and 360 is getting bigger not smaller. Plus ps3 can still go 149 and 99 too.

PS3 is just starting to reach affordable prices where its popular, while 360 is only popular in the states and sales are down down down there.

it's not happening before Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD come out, as well as all the indie games they've been courting which are all PS3/Vita cross buy.   I don't think they can just cancel a system all of the sudden, they'd have a shitstorm on their hands.  They'd have to wind it down.  They still have a crap ton of 1st party IPs to try out on the thing too.

I can see it happening pretty suddenly, since I don't think the decision will ultimately be in SCE execs' hands. But probably not for at least a few more months, though I still expect it to happen by or at the release of their FY2013 results a year from now.

yeah, i kinda just figured the guy was attempting gaf bait posts on the bore...

anyway, sounds there are some announcements coming at E3:

Quote
Shahid Kamal Ahmad on Twitter:

He talked about games he signed: Thomas Was Alone, Hotline Miami, Rotating Octopus Character, Limbo, Luftrausers, Velocity Ultra, Terraria and Floating Cloud God Saves the HD Pilgrims.

BUT he added this: "Oh and the P game".

I asked about what "P" game and he told me: "the one that people will say to me “WTF?!” Or “COOL!”

He added: "And I’m hoping to get some more stuff signed before E3. Something for everyone".

I asked about E3 show, hoping Sony won't forget about Vita, and told me this: "I’m sure you will enjoy the show, nobody has forgotten about Vita, trust me".

Then he said: "Oh and there is an AMAZING big title coming to Vita. I can’t tell you anything about it, except that you are gonna be hooked for hours".

indie games aren't gonna put the bread on the table but they are very welcome!   not sure what "P" is supposed to be.

Guacamelee #1 on both lists, that's crazy.   And in the comments section, guy says cross-buy only counts for the system it was purchased on originally.

Soul Sacrifice made it to #2 without much time at all...did they have preorders on PSN for this?

I'd put father brain's scenario at a roughly 0% chance of happening.  Even if they internally decide(d) to give up on the thing, they're not going to come out and say it.  That kind of thing really only happens when you are permanently checking out of the market.

Are you saying that you expect Sony to try again with a third dedicated handheld platform, or just that you expect them to continue some token level of Vita support for another few years? The latter could happen, but I don't see how the former is at all plausible.

I'm not expecting it would be announced in a particularly conspicuous way, i.e. getting its own press release. Just a sentence or so in one of their future earnings releases, or being absent from their FY2014 forecast.

...also, forecasting only 3-3.5M shipped this FY is already almost as close as they could get to giving up without officially giving up. I guess the forecast could have been even lower, though?

Well, maybe he meant dedicated gaming hardware in general, but that makes even less sense given the context. Not sure what other market he's referring to Sony hypothetically checking out of.
