Guess I'm the only one getting it for 360 then.
does this have story co-op?
I MADE UP MY MIND NEVER TO SHED TEARS AGAIN
This game looks so slow compared DW7. :(
I MADE UP MY MIND NEVER TO SHED TEARS AGAINThis game looks so slow compared DW7. :(
Well, that didn't take long.
Best musou game ever. LE needs to play this!
It's faster than DW7. Do you have jetpacks on your back in DW7?!!
Got it.
Loving this game. So much to do and so many ways to customize. The amount of missions is ridiculous. Fun. :) Also, the game is great with combos, probably more so any Musuo I've played. I have been juggling enemy officers for what seems to feel like a full minute due to Unicorn Gundam's (:rock) moveset.
haha i seem to be the only person on the internet who got this
bomba

DW7 XL is PS3 exclusive, btw. I say this because I know you switched to 360 for DW7, himu. It's why I always buy musou games on PS3 whenever possible; it's always the lead platform.
I wish they'd localize SW3 and Empires :/
HOLY FUCK, MOX. THIS IS WHAT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT?Yeah, their excuse is that they couldn't fit both japanese and english voices on a 360 disc but can on PS3. :( If SW3E got brought out internationally and was PS3 only as well that might be enough crap to push me over into getting one of Sony's failboxes.
So we ARE going to get DW7XL in English but it's ONLY for ps3. wtf?

"DYNASTY WARRIORS 7: Xtreme Legends is PS3 exclusive. Xbox 360 users are allowed to voice their opinions with #DW7XL360 hash tag to the team."
It really doesn't. they can't just make it a download? That makes this decision even more baffling. WTF, Koei?
the thing that makes no sense is that dw7 360 outsold ps3 version, and not by a scrimmage either.

you know this has been bothering me for a while but it was such a stupid question that i didn't know where to ask but since there is now this thread....
why the japanese version of the game is called sengoku musou 6 and the american one dynasty warriors 7,is there a dynasty warriors that's exclusive to america? ??? don't they count the original because from what i know it's a lame soul blade ripoff? ???
I imported SW3Z just because it IS playable without an understanding of the language- ditto for DWG3, but empires haha no
sw2e > dw5eI have both. :-[
Start button looks very DoA-ish
smoke in the background is very Naruto-ish
both feature ninjas and demons
Why would anyone think it's not musou. The only team ups Koei does is for musou games.Oh my god. I want this to happen.
Been a while since we've had a new musou franchise, probably will be naruto or something but hope it's Tales of Musou.
Actually looks like it might be One Piece Musou
holy shit
Will find out in a few days...
I think he just wants to "use" nami, chopper was added to make him look normal.
Why is Luffy wearing a braTo show off the fact that he fucked Nami?
I'm going straight for Luffy when i get this game
Why is Luffy wearing a bra
Why is Luffy wearing a bra
there's so many musou games out now and coming that i don't see the point in making a new thread :lol
what are you talking about? We haven't seen any details in this thread aside from that shitty scan.
also himu if there is co-op play i am gonna nakama up with you and play as IVANKOV-SAMA
I'm sorry Mike. It's...it's just...I'M SO DAMN HAPPY. This year has been amazing for games and now this. It's like it's a sign that there really IS a god!

What religion will you pick this time?
It seems Dynasty Warriors 7 Xtreme Legends may end up PS3-only. :-\
why can't they just 360 version downloadable
Im honestly getting kinda tired of these weird quirky decisions to go console exclusive
DW7 was ps3 exclusive in Japan, got 360 port in the west. Why? Because the games sale about even keel.
The last OP game localized in NA was Unlimited Adventure or whatever on the wii. OP games are Euro exclusivo now. NA fans of One Piece are damned. Funi's not even dubbing the anime past ep 205 now.
DW7 was ps3 exclusive in Japan, got 360 port in the west. Why? Because the games sale about even keel.
They must have their reasons for not porting it to 360 for the rest of the world.

Europe got DW7 on 360 as well.
And iirc, DW7 overwhelmingly sold better on 360 in the west.
So now DW7 XL comes out and it's ps3 exclusive? That kinda makes no sense, which is the "weird" part MAF is talking about.
No biggie for me though, I own both systems, I'll get it.
Well I was thinking past anime examples but sure....that's another good example. I'd also dig if they used the team/ character swapping approach from samurai warriors chronicles
No but they could always use the time skip and fabricate their own story.Well I was thinking past anime examples but sure....that's another good example. I'd also dig if they used the team/ character swapping approach from samurai warriors chronicles
Warriors Orochi style. Nakama stick together and all that crap, right?
I'm sure that since this is a prime title to be milked to infinite, nobody should be expecting them to cram in all the story. I don't follow One Piece...is there enough material post time skip for a game story already?
i also want to actually BEAT the three admirals at the battle of marineford, tooBut you can't beat Kizaru.
That aside, FotNS Musou was a pretty solid game. Managed to provide a pretty unique experience.
First XB, now hating on OP; I thought you were my friend, magus :( Where did all your wacky jappy go??
That's easy, just make a thread about Suikoden.
:hyper :hyper :hyper
WHAT TIME
Probably most of the footage will be at the Namco Bandai conference tomorrow along with new Tales and GvG E and stuff.
So far the agreed characters are 11+2
The characters that are available in the vanilla are the entire Strawhats (Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Nico, Franky, Brook), along with Ace and Whitebeard.
Buggy and Vivi will be also available but through DLCs.
If the sales (both game & DLCs?) are favorable, they may consider adding Enel and Crocodile as well. Their movesets are very detailed for NPCs so they could be brought over as extra DLCs.
And if the sales get even more favorable, they might even consider adding the Three Generals (Aokiji, Kizaru, Akainu) as well.
So if all these are included the maximum number of characters will be 11+7 = 18
There are many characters that can't be cloned, but adding people with Rogia fruits would be difficult since their immunity to long-range attacks could break the game.
People like Kuma also have well-detailed movesets, but they'll just make him NPC.
How the storyline goes is that each of the Strawhats will have their prologue stages, and after that you can play some stages with any of the available crews.
For example in the Alabasta stage, everyone fights on the same stage and you can pick any of the crews at that point as the playable character (Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper), and after that you move on to a duel event battle with the character restricted to Luffy (vs Crocodile perhaps?)
There will be Online co-op and you can co-op in the Free mode
There also seems to be stages which look like puzzles, as in completing a picture or such.
He said not to look forward too much on the Online co-op though, as in it's just there just for the sake of it.
Luffy's scarred costume will have special effects (just like Toki's healthy costume in Hokuto), as in his Musou finisher becomes different and Gear 2 lasts longer.
Other characters' post-timeskip costumes are not available, but perhaps they would be added as DLCs?
Regarding in-game costumes though, it seems like there will be around 3 costumes for each Strawhats at least (though I wonder whether there will be real alternate costumes or just alternate colors)
Hey Lyte Edge, what's the deal with Basara 3 Utage?
Is it an expansion that has new characters/gameplay-systems but is missing all the storylines of Basara 3? Or is it the superior version of Basara 3 with even more content and better gameplay?
Now that Basara 3 is getting pretty low in price around the world (still not touching the US version because I don't want dub-only Japanese warriors, but asia/jpn have greatest hits out for about $30), I'm thinking about grabbing Basara 3 and then Utage, but I'd rather just get Utage if it replaces Basara 3.
Link: gaf is distinguished mentally-challenged- its a really fun game

It's an expansion with new characters/content, including 2P modes, new stages, 14 new characters, and some type of tag mode. Unification mode is also returning. There are new stories for the new characters and tweaks/new moves for the returning characters.
Nobody seems to be mentioning anything about Utage at TGS, so I guess Capcom still hasn't unveiled the final six new characters on the roster.
OLD video:
[youtube=560,345]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqQAyGxU_lM[/youtube]
Yeah but can I just jump straight into Utage and skip Basara 3? Or is it missing the stories for the old non-Utage characters? I like the crazy Basara stories so I don't want to only get Utage if it means missing out on all the story mode content from Basara 3.
What I'm asking is if Utage is set to include all the content from Basara 3 + the new content? Like how SB2: Heroes was on Wii. Or if it's a pure expansion pack that ditches all the old content and is only about new content like musou expansion packs?
The new character swap mode and gameplay changes seem cool, so it'd be nice to play through the Basara 3 stories using them.
Tecmo Koei is adding social aspects to its Musou Orochi series sequel, Musou Orochi 2. In its reveal article on the game this week, Famitsu details a scenario customization system.
Players can create custom scenarios for the game. These can be uploaded to a server for other players to download. Players can leave comments about user created scenarios, helping to build up a community of Orochi fans.
Famitsu's first report on Musou Orochi 2, the next entry in the series that's known internationally as Warriors Orochi, lists a release time frame of December. Our initial report said that the game is coming to both PS3 and Xbox 360. PS3 is confirmed, but we're not sure about 360 just yet.
Famitsu lists PS3 only, but that's probably just for Japan.
Here's the final word on the platform status for Musou Orochi 2. The game is coming to both PS3 and Xbox 360. Famitsu lists the two platforms in its reveal article this week.
We originally reported the game as due for both platforms based off some blurry images from Famitsu, but got spooked when none of our usual flying get sources listed 360 along with PS3. We've now seen a clear shot of the magazine, and it does indeed list both platforms.
Platform aside, here's one intriguing gameplay bit to go along with the scenario customization system details we provided earlier. The magazine says that the game will have over 120 characters -- the most for the series.
Is the Orochi series any good? Or is it just fanservice of having all these characters in one game?Orochi games are fuck awesome and the first two had insane 'cheevs to get. Prior to DW7 being released I'm pretty sure WO2 was the go to game for musouage.
So weird that they are calling it "Musou Orochi 2" in Japan.
So weird that they are calling it "Musou Orochi 2" in Japan.
Did one of the first two get released under a different name?
Should I play a mainline DW game before Orochi so I know who these characters are and go "OMG I GET TO SEE CHA CHA FIGHT WONG XUI!!!" when I play Orochi? I've only played the first Samurai Warriors and the spinoff musou games.
7 is a really good entry, and has an excellent story mode.
I don't think it matters much, TBH. I'd say get Musou Orochi Z on PS3, but with the third game hitting in December, might as well wait!
The thing is that most crossover games aren't that fun unless you know the material being crossed over.
lol @ DW7 being 30 dollars or less
Bebpo are you in the dark? Just get a used copy of DW7.
6 had a good OSTEvery DW has a good ost. ALL BUTT ROCK ALL THE TIME~
This week's Famitsu has specific new info on Warriors Orochi 3 (Musou Orochi 2), which confirms the guest characters that are appearing from non-main Warriors games. The confirmed characters are Achilles from Warriors: Legends of Troy, Jeanne d'Arc from Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War, and Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden.
i still haven't gotten basara for ps3
That sounds kind of lazy on Capcom's part. Locking almost everything to extend game game length.
So are you saying ALL the new characters don't have 3 additional moves for R2? Or just some of the more minor ones?
mmm you know what, you convinced me,is there any difference version between wii and ps3 besides the obvious?
what if i wanted to try one of those orochi games on the psp? are they the same as the 360 version?
the version of dynasty warrior i played had no character surfing on an aquarium
i suddenly feel very sad :fbm

I told you about Basara. It has a dude who travels on a jet powered man. Yes, MAN. He jumps on him and rides him like a flying surfboard.

well allright i guess the last question is how much i'm going to be screwed by not knowing a lick of japanese? basing on my experience of DW7 i guess not that much but you can never know
how does DW7 stack up with SWChronicles on 3DS? character switching somehow bumped the game from "solid but boring" to "holy fuck" for me
Lyte Edge, is DW7XL worth it
When does Orochi 2 come out?
You know, I ordered DW7 on BF and it never shipped :( No luck with DW games I suppose.
I sent an e-mail. Ordered it through one of Amazon's 3rd parties for $51 since it was the cheapest it will ever get.
What is DW7 XL? Should I have bought that one instead?xl is for ps3, requires dw7 original, has a few new characters, weapons, story mode co-op and not much else I think.
Eh, maybe I'll just stick with the Wii version. Seems like too much of a hassle just for trophies and better graphics :|
Lyte, it's expensive for an old ass game that would be like $20 at every used store if I was living in Japan.
The only reason I was finally buying it was on the idea I'd throw it in with some other stuff on a shipment and at least not have to pay shipping. $40 + $5 off coupon, no shipping. Ehh, a little more reasonable.
Id literally shit myself if they could pilot gundams in Orochi 3
OP Musou honestly sounds like it's by the Fist of the North Star Musou staff and will be pretty similar in design and gameplay. This makes me a little nervous, since FoTNS musou is probably the weakest musou title by a longshot this gen.
My DW7 showed up today at work. Which faction should I start with if I'm a DW story-noob?
Does Red Cliff make any sense if you don't know the lore?
caved- ordered orochi 2 ps3, steam sales suck this year anyway
caved- ordered orochi 2 ps3, steam sales suck this year anyway
What's your PSN ID? The game has online co-op!
I only popped the disc in for a minute last night and went to free mode. Looked to be set up like DW7, putting you in an NPC-populated area where you can buy weapons and such. Only three characters available by default.
DW games are the best comfort gaming
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvlM7wwVQPs&hd=1FUCK YEAH FUCKIN' ASIANS FUCKIN' MURDERING FUCKIN' EVERYTHING :hyper :hyper :hyper
No way I'd play it dubbed. :yuckSo you're hoping for a PS3 only release then since they can fit both languages on-disc that way.
DW7 did not originally have dual audio, they released a free dlc that had Japanese language track though.
wow, you're such a weeaboo

Don't all the musou games released in the US on PS3 have dual-audio? I only have FotNS & DW7 but both are dual-audio.
Is my nick Himuro? Right now? It isn't? :smug
Lyte: What do the little orbs next to my characters portrait signify?
Sounds rushed and built around features. Somehow they made it work for samurai warriors on 3DS
Is Samurai Warriors 3Z coming to the US?No. :maf
What about the new Orochi?
Imported 3Z totally worth it.
Which one of these games have Ryu/Ayane? Is it out on the 360 (US)?
Playasia, usually who I order from. Got the Asia version since it apparently has more english in the menus. Most people here use some other site I think tho

I ordered it from PA. I don't mind the menus a whole hell of a lot since I played a shitload of DW5 Special, which was a J-360 launch title only.

Well, PA finally told me that it shipped today, 10 days after ordering.
5-6 years ago when I imported games somewhat regularly, I'd have it in my hands by now. Their service has really gone downhill.
Bebpo, heads-up on Basara...a PS3 SB3/SB3 Utage combo pack is coming out in March.
WO3 March 20th in NA March 30th in UK :hyper :hyper :hyper
That's exactly what happened- happened to me too; and I pre-ordered a few days before release.
That's exactly what happened- happened to me too; and I pre-ordered a few days before release.
It has been about two weeks since they said the game has shipped and I ordered the 3-5 day shipping choice or whatever one it is that is in that general timeframe. Still no game.
At this point, I'm wondering if I'm even getting the game at all. I sent an e-mail to Play Asia so we'll see if they even bother to give me a response.

If you don't go with Fedex or UPS, it could take a while to get there. They also may not respond due to the Chinese new year...looks like they are on hiatus until 1/26.
Koei Tecmo are going OVERBOARD.
Just recently announced Sangoku Musou Versus for 3ds. It's basically Musou Orochi with Dynasty Warriors 7 characters. So, basically an expansion on Samurai Warriors Chronicles? They are making TOO MUCH MUSOU.
In the past year I have bought DW7, DWG3, and I'm going to buy WO3 and One Piece Warriors. If I had a 3ds I'd have Samurai Warriors Chronicles. TOO MUCH MUSOU.
Bebpo doesn't like DW7 because he's a cigarillo.
Hmmm...I died 2 seconds into the first fight. I'm sure it's because I picked a bad character.

Maybe you should have started with the regular DW7...
Tecmo Koei's upcoming myth-based hack-n-slash action title, Warriors Orochi 3, will be launching for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next month, in North America on March 20 and in Europe on March 30. The game will be a full-price retail title on 360, but thanks to a little-known quirk in Sony's localization regulations, it will only be available on the PlayStation Network -- not on a Blu-ray Disc.
The voice acting in Warriors Orochi 3 hasn't been localized into English: the audio for the entire game is in Japanese, with English subtitles. Sean Corcoran, Marketing Manager for Tecmo Koei America, told me last week that Sony doesn't allow games without English voice acting to be released in the West on retail discs. So PS3 owners will have to buy the game on the PlayStation Store; Corcoran said that the download will cost less than $59.99, but Tecmo Koei hasn't yet decided how much less.

DYNASTY WARRIORS NEXT looks like the ultimate version of DW7, aside from the from touch crap.Watch the Giant Bomb quick look, Next IS Empires.
Gonna wait for DW7: Empires.

Smaller maps is a plus for me. I like my maps DWG3 size where you can get around them super quick and you're always in the action. Don't want to be riding riding riding to the next combat point. I mean what's the point of musou when you're not slashing dudes?
Enemy count seemed pretty good to me, but yeah it might've been less than DW7.
What I really want after playing the NEXT demo is DWG3 PORTABLE. Get that on Vita and 60fps and holyyyy shit will I put 100 hours in.
Kaizoku Musou is this week! Who else is paying the LOLOL price of $100 to get it? :hyper
Good god look at those tiny screens. What is it, 2005?
Picked up Warriors Orochi 3. Left the PS3 doing the 11gig download.
First WO game, hope it's the Marvel v Capcom of DW!
Musou backlog is now:
-One Piece Musou
-Fist of the North Star Musou
-Dynasty Warriors 7
-Warriors Orochi 3
I'm probably set with musou for a long time :lol
Does Sima Zhao still have his rockin' ex? he and his lady wang yuanji are my favorites in dw7
jin fo lyfe
i played the dynasty warriors next demo on vita tonight, it wasn't bad! i was impressed with the sheer number of people they crammed on the screen. i had no idea what i was doing, since i'd never played a dw game before, but i still had a good time with it. i might pick it up if i can snag it on sale later on.
That's his ex
Fuck, I can't wait to play Orochi 3. Fucking people stealing my copy of Orochi 2. Leveling up characters in Orochi is by far the funnest in any Musou I've played.
orochi 3 is fuck amazing and better than the entire 3ds catalog combinedHimu and I are both tragically stuck waiting until at least tomorrow when it'll hopefully show up in stores. :(
If anyone wants the English version on disc for PS3, NCSX is going to stock the Euro version for $69.Fuck, I can't wait to play Orochi 3. Fucking people stealing my copy of Orochi 2. Leveling up characters in Orochi is by far the funnest in any Musou I've played.
Get it on PS3 dude...it's better on there anyway, plus no worries of lack of DLC support.
Isn't the game the same on both? And the DLC doesn't make sense, the DLC is/will be for both platforms.
Aw Goddammit, my bad guys...this was a DW7 comparison that somebody mentioned elsewhere...in a WO3 thread...not for WO3 itself. :( Blame GAF. :p

See: DW7 XL.

1. There is not going to be a WO3 XL.
2. The reason there is no DW7 XL on 360 is because there was no DW7 on 360 in Japan. There is a WO3 on 360 in Japan. Therefore, logic suggests that support for the game will be at parity on both systems, and if there is a WO3 XL, both platforms will get it.
Since I have defeated your arguement lyte, as penance you must play WO3 with me when I receive the 360 version next week :P
I only have Silver for the time being.
I don't see why I need online to enjoy this game. Don't be distinguished mentally-challenged. I have played DW7 online maybe 5 times total and DWG3 online sucked balls.DW7 online was crap too. You both had soldiers in different locations so you could watch your co-op partner slashing around at what was seemingly nothing when on their screen they're killing dudes. ::) Also your new thread title is missing the s at the end of WARRIORS. :P
DWG3 traded the "tension" that was in DWG1-2 for a game that is the equivalent of Shinobi PS2, it's a pure speed running combat musou. The fun is trying to finish the stages as fast as possible. That's the challenge and it's a fun one.
Don't know why you're trying to be a hater, I was under the impression DWG3 was almost universally loved by musou fans.
himiko on hard is a cunnifred. her pot lasers are a one-shot kill, and her musou comes out FAST
Yes, come join us in the wonderful world of musou faggotry. Join uuuuus. There's a menu in the base camp where you can look over your characters and listen to monologues from them. People in the most recent battle will be celebratory of all their ko's and some people who haven't been used in a while/at all will lament that fact. :lol
I've died a few times on Normal. :o
well if there are character with different move sets than what they had in DW7 i haven't seen them, sima zhao still surf on people, sun shang has still a shitty musou......
at the very least, unlock ayane and ryu before you fully judge it.
Last night I had the hardest time on Magoichi Saika's map with Joan of Arc. Holy shit, I died at least 10 times and this was on hard. You have to defend Joan of Arc, Saika, AND make sure that Saika's troops aren't all taken out. So you're zipping across the map protecting at least four different forces from being overwhelmed by the orochi rear guard.
Fucking amazing map.
Clearing it felt like a real accomplishment.
Who gives a fuck. Give me a REAL Nobunaga. Nobunaga's Ambition: Tendou is on 360 and ps3. PLEASE BRING THAT OVER.If it's on 360 the outlook of it coming west is promising.

Tell Koei Tecmo Japan (in English!) how you like WO3 and your past Warriors games history.

is kaizoku musou america-bound?
I gotta disagree on FotNS, it was great considering the source material. I havent played one piece though.
Eh, FoTNS is good for FoTNS fans and very accurate to the show. One Piece is good for OP fans and very accurate to the show. If you aren't a fan of either series and just look at them as musou games, they don't really compare to the quality of something like WO3.
I don't think they are bad games, but in the lower tier than the A team games.

How much of those two games have you played?
dwg1 wasn't that great either
Played them enough to see what is good/bad about them.
Are you seriously going to argue that license aside, FoTNS is as good as the best DW/WO games? I love OP and I'm certainly not going to argue OP is as good as those. FoTNS/OP have tiny rosters compared to the big meaty DW/SW/WO/GM games.
You seem to be ignoring that I think FoTNS & OP are good musou games. Just between the team that does SW/DW/WO/GM and the team that does FoTNS/OP, I think the former is the A-team and the latter is the B-team.
I thought DWG1 was the best because I like the large, expansive maps, even if some concepts appeared half baked. DWG3 felt claustrophobic by comparison but was otherwise an excellent game. DWG2 was a really awful version of DWG3. I think we can all agree that part 2 is the worst.
Played them enough to see what is good/bad about them.
You said a few pages back that these games were in your backlog. I still want to know how much you played...playing some of Ken's story mode and not playing the other main mode is not enough when it comes to FoTNS, for example.

Probably ~5 hours.
I honestly think FotNS Musou is as good as a FotNS game will EVER get.
Looks to be digital download only again for PS3 in North America.
Im talking about Orochi 3- mostly- there wasn't a 360 version and then they made a cheap one for us.
DW7 didn't come out in Japan on 360.
Arriving in November 2012 as a simultaneous digital and Blu-ray release, PS3-exclusive One Piece: Pirate Warriors takes the insanely popular manga/anime series to new heights in this stylized brawler.
Maxed out my Zhou Tai 8) Ginchiyo and Nemea aren't far behind. There is still a lot of game left for me to go through.
Sengoku Basara HD Collection this August.
http://andriasang.com/con0xb/sengoku_basara_hd_date/
SB2/Heroes for the stories and more playable characters and modes.
Definitely no point in playing SB1. I didn't even like that game very much when I tried it. Capcom improved parts of it when they localized as Devil Kings. Never played that version so I don't know what was changed.
And why not make it a complete package by throwing in Basara X?
I wish that was WO3 on Steam.
assuming One Piece is popular in America.
One Piece Pirate Warriors is coming out as a PSN game on September 25th
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/07/18/one-piece-pirate-warriors-set-for-september-release-as-a-psn-download/
I know some of these niche games are digital download only (Way of the Samurai 4, Warrior Orochi 3 PS3) but it's odd for a One Piece game. It's the type of game you'd expect kids to nag their parents to buy based on the cover alone....assuming One Piece is popular in America.
Anyone want to buy my import copy of One Piece? I'm probably never going to play through it at this point...don't think it's as good as the other musou games.

How much?
Shin Sangoku Musou 7 (Dynasty Warriors 8 ) was announced in Famitsu.Awww sheeeit. DW7 was PS3 exclusive in JP land and was thrown on 360 for its international release. If it's PS3 only everywhere then it'll be time I buy a PS3.

PS3-only this time?
Tecmo Koei has released a demo for Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 on PlayStation Network in Japan.http://gematsu.com/2012/11/fist-of-the-north-star-2-demo-hits-japanese-psn
Available now, the demo offers a full playthrough of the story mode’s “Z Invasion” chapter, and a portion of the “Anger with the Heavens” chapter.
Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 will launch for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on December 20 in Japan, February 22 in Europe, and February 26 in North America.
Well, I guess it's because I haven't played 1 yet and the chances of this going to 360 are slim.
Dude, if you have a PS3, buy the fucking game.
Hey Himuro, did you hear that Law & Smoker are playable in OP Musou 2?
Opposing forces? You mean like the Yuans or Yellow Turbans?
Oh great. A giant bomb quick look of a Musou game.
I think I'll click.
Wait, I think i'll save myself the hassle and blood pressure spike.
I'm kind of fiending for a new fix but this ...eh looks like something I'd grab for $20 but that's about it.
May have to buy Ken's Rage 2 :o
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAiXBqPUc0A
Who was this developed by?
Omega Force didn't make One Piece?
Uhh, suddenly this makes sense. Fuck, I hope they are making OPM 2. I don't think I want to play non-Omega Force musou games...
lack of pics and videos :punch
edit: love musou but this...is insulting. I couldn't support this.
We are very pleased to report that Dynasty Warriors 8 is making its way to the West. It is due to be released on both the 360 and PS3 on the 12th of July in Europe and the 16th of July in North America. Additional details revealed by Tecmo KOEI Community Manager, Chin Soon Sun, in an interview on the GAMRs Podcast include that the game will have both English and Japanese voice others and will be released as a physical copy in all territories.
FUCKIN' FINALLY!For the west? I thought the one they put out here on Wii/PS3 sold so well that they're not going to bother bringing any over so I'm guessing you mean a JP release. :gloomy
Capcom announced Sengoku Basara 4 for PS3, too!

Same here, even if it means importing a disc version.
I again must recommend One Piece Kaizoku Musou 2 to everyone. Try the demo on JPSN!
is one piece musou 2 coming here?
is one piece musou 2 coming here?
Yep. Digital release like the first one.
I was thinking Fist of the Northstar 2 was a bit too easy with Kenshiro mowing down dumb exploding grunts (this is early in the game), so I tried setting it to the hardest mode (Chaos I think?). I died almost immediately to a hail of chucked spears and molotovs, not to mention the grunt kicks take off 1/3 life. Oops?
OPM2 Japanese version is on sale at P-A for $45 today. Looks like more gomu gomu punch in my future.

Update: In addition to Tamomo-no-Mae, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate will be getting the expert swordsman Xu Shu from the Dynasty Warriors series. Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate will also have a brand new story. Additionally, the game will be adding new elements that were seen in the PSP and Wii U versions, both of which were released a good while after the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version.
8 is packed with characters, modes and features. It's gonna be the ultimate musou game.

BENEVOLENCE!!!!!!!
Seeing reports that the 360 version has some pretty bad framerate problems and gets downright choppy. The PS3 version does not have these issues.Well as someone who only has a 360 at the moment that kind of sucks a lot.
Well, the game does have a bar for enemy/ally morale. Not sure how deep the rabbit hole goes though.
AHAHAHAHAHAHA

Lol. Don't ever run from Lu Bu. Kill his wife and then kill him.
How is the stage design in this game? Is it passive like DW7 or active like WO3, SW2, DW5?
bork are you playing on normal? i'm playing on normal and i regret it because it's beyond easy, the affinity system makes it even more easier because as you carry 2 weapon around there's no reason to ever be at disadvantage so it either favors you and gives you tons of free extra damage or it does nothing
I've never played a Dynasty Warriors game before, always avoided the series because it looks like you mow down grunts all day. Should I try this one?
What makes Warriors games challenging on normal modes for me are accomplishing the objectives. It should be tough accomplishing every goal and side goal on a map. The game should also have you continuously doing something new in terms of objectives. What I love about Samurai Warriors is how you'll often get like 3 or side objectives in one map. Fuck up? Oh well, restart map.
A new game mode, called the "Ambition Mode", has been introduced.[15] In it, the player is tasked to create a social base for peasants called the "Tongquetai Tower" and to make Emperor Xian visit it. To raise the tower's status, the player must partake in three different kind of battles; Skirmish battles which give materials to construct the tower, Raid battles which increase fame, and Large-scale battles which can recruit new partners. Players start out with the weapon shop as their sole base facility. More can be added or expanded upon as the town gradually becomes populated with people. These include a food market, a trade shop, a menagerie, etc..
'Hypothetical' is a what-if stage that can be unlocked by completing certain conditions in Story Mode. For example..spoiler (click to show/hide)The Wei 'hypothetical' stage is Chibi. If you've completed all the optional conditions in the stages before Chibi, then Guo Jia, Dian Wei and Xu Shu will be present for the Wei side in the battle. This will allow you to foil Wu's fire attack and actually defeat them rather than fleeing. If you complete that stage, you unlock extra stages that continue along Wei's path to conquest rather than the historical status quo ending.[close]
In Free Mode, you get the choice of doing the 'normal' or 'hypothetical' version of the stage. That's what the option is for. Of course, if you haven't unlocked the 'hypothetical' version, the option doesn't yet do anything for you!

One of my favorite Musou games. How easy is it to download Japanese Vita games onto an American one?
Sterk and Kasumi won’t be the only guest characters in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate.
Famitsu this week reveals a collaboration with Namco Bandai to bring Soulcalibur fighter Sophitia Alexandra to the game.
Another new character was also revealed. Wielding a fire-tipped spear, the magazine introduces the Taoist protection deity Nezha.
Did you install it?
I dunno what to say- haven't played it split-screen but it plays smoothly enough for me. Don't see anyone else complaining about it on PS3 either.

I didn't, but how would that affect in-level framerates? Even the pre-stage talk-to-guys sequences were choppy as hell. The game looks like Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders. This used to be a 60fps series.

You meant Basara 4, right?
I wonder if Capcom will bother localizing it this late in the PS3's life? We never got Utage, and I'm sure 3 sold terribly over here.
I'm pretty sure that they've declared no more of the Basara games are going to be localized cause the one they brought over this gen didn't meet whatever lofty expectation they had for it. :(So that is now:

One Piece Musou 2
i don't care much for either one piece or dynasty warrior but somehow i'm having fun with this,i'd put my money on...
A) the character all feel different enough (i especialy like nami who has a gimmick where some of her attack create clouds which you can then detonate with R2 and jinbei who's really slow but has the ability to summon a wave that cover all the screen and a one-strike punch that deals a shitload of damage, blows enemies away and look super cool)
B) the animation are really well done and colorfull
C) there is really a shitload of enemies on screen,i find myself using the lock option simply to keep track of the boss
i tought the game would follow the anime plot but i guess there still isn't enough time skip plot to do it so you get a token plot where all of the straw hat become evil except luffy and nami (yes, even chopper, especialy chopper) so luffy has now to hunt them and punch them in the face until they become good again oh and you get to start with smoker too for some reason (i guess because he's popular?)
there is no weapon system and instead you get coins, you equip coins to your stat and if you put 2 coins related to each other together they boost each other (so say... put straw hat pirates coins together, put nami coin with nami weapon coin) missions have objective where you can unlock more powerfull coins but it's usualy just to get 1000 kill, get the S rank, and finish the stage with no NPC dying
mmm... so what's bad about it? well the character all sort of feels underpowered,i mean they make a lot of explosions and have attack that makes enemy fly everywhere and blow them away which also have huge range but the damage you do to small grunt is pitifull and they usualy need more than 1 combo to end up dead, this is particulary annoying because you get ranked on your kill count and i've lost count how many times the game told me "oh yeah, you finished the stage quickly, you didn't take a lot of damage but whooooops! you didn't kill enough people! no full remark for you!" the stage are also sooooooooooooo long,i had a stage that took like 24 minutes
DW8 (still haven't played :()
Huh? No Bork, I bought DW8 day one.
Just haven't popped it in the ps triple. Haven't turned on the triple in months.
is one piece pirate warriors 2 out stateside yet

Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate
Changes
Everyone has been tweaked to play slightly different than the original game a la Warriors Orochi 2. Strong characters have been weakened. The maximum level cap is 100 instead of 99. Character growth is influenced by weapon enhancements and character parameters, meaning that even maximum leveled characters can still be altered to a degree.
Each character is given a second personal skill that contributes to the team's overall stats.
Includes new items and weapon attributes.
"Triple Rush", a stronger variation of Switch Combos, launches foes into the air for greater combo freedom. It is easier to cancel attacks using this skill. Unique versions are triggered by performing the attack using a specific set of characters, with more than 50 team combinations available.
Mitsunari Ishida, Kiyomasa Katō, Masanori Fukushima
Yoshihiro Shimazu, Ginchiyo Tachibana, Muneshige Tachibana
Sun Jian, Nene, Sophitia
"Midair Tie Up Action" is a new aerial R1 attack which drains a portion of the Musou gauge to use. The action performed is reliant on the user's type (Power, Speed, Technique, Wonder).
Technique types have a new ability: press X while being attacked to shift behind the opponent.
Two players can activate their teams' Musou to have all six characters attack with a special energy effect. This is called "Shin Musou Burst".
Dynasty Warriors 8's version of horse whistling is present.
Includes new five-star weapons and unique "mystic weapons" for the entire cast which can be acquired by completing specific requirements within Story or Free Mode.
Characters can now carry four to six items instead of two. A separate slot is available for saddles.
The maximum K.O. count is now 10,000 while stock experience is capped at 999,999 as opposed to 99,999.
A Samurai Warriors 3-like color editor is available to customize characters' appearances.
Downloadable content has been noted to appear but not confirmed yet. Save data and DLC from Warriors Orochi 3 can be transferred to Ultimate.
ModesEdit
The modes in the original game and Hyper's Duel Mode return with the following changes.
Story Mode
Four new chapters are added to this entry which highlight two major story arcs:
The Tale of the Latter Day - Takes place after Hydra's defeat.
The Tale of the Former Day - Explains Orochi's origins.
Various new side stories for the playable cast are also included. These stories showcase characters who had few appearances in the main story arc.
Unlimited Mode
A new addition focusing on a five man team. The overall goal is to have these characters survive various trials in order to escape a multi-leveled dungeon; if a character within the players' team perishes, players may choose to wait for their natural resurrection or proceed onwards to the next level without them. All characters in a player's team can fight on the field simultaneously in this mode. Players cannot save until they have completed at least one level and difficulty gradually increases based on their progression. Co-op within this mode has two players control two characters within a single team with the freedom to swap with a single button tap; unused members are controlled by the AI.
Players may select a designated team formation for their party. Effects for this ability are reliant on the party's character and composition, but players generally gain special bonuses or techniques when these formations are activated by at least three characters in their team. Certain techniques may yield different effects when used together. "Dragon spots" are scattered within each map, and they can either restore health, provide buffs, or warp the party to a different part of the map.
Weapons, levels, and experience earned within this mode can be kept for other modes. An option to further strengthen weaponry can be accessed within this mode via rare materials collected from treasure chests throughout the battlefield. These chests may be laden with various traps. Materials can be earned by completing missions given by a female mystic at the main camp.
Shin Musou Battlefields
A renewal of the Musou Battlefields feature. Warriors now cost nothing to change, and in-battle quotes and notifications can be customized by players.
Characters
The entire cast from Hyper and Xu Shu will appear with the following new additions.
Mae Tamamo
Yinglong
A younger Nezha
Kyubi no Kitsune
Hundun
Kasumi from Dead or Alive 5
Sterkenburg Cranach from Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland
Sophitia Alexandra from Soulcalibur IV
Abe No Seimei (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abe_no_Seimei), who I notice is missing from the list of new characters on the Koei wikias. Weird...you get him fairly early on after Xu Shu.

I'll take more enemies over better character models.
In Senran Kagura's case, the visual aesthetic certainly lends to it looking better. One Piece Musou for instance is blah 3d. Would look better if it looked like Gundam Musou 3.
Koei Tecmo announced Sengoku Musou 4 [Samurai Warriors 4] for PS3 and PS Vita, the game will due out in Japan in spring 2014. The story mode will be based on Nobuyuki Sanada's perspective on the history of unifying the country. There will be over 50 playable characters, and you can switch between two characters in each stage, similar to Sengoku Musou: Chronicles. There will be a custom mode for you to create your own warrior. New Godspeed Action and Secret Musou moves will be available.
Obligatory complaining about SW4's chances of coming out in NA.What, 100%?
Also got Basara 3 for ps3. I...don't think Basara is for me. This is boring. The movelists are extremely limited, I literally only have like three moves total so far. I picked my Samurai Warriors mainstay, Magoichi Saika - who is a girl in this :mindblown - and I'm so bored. There's no combos to be done, or cancels, or anything. It's just square, square, square, square, triangle now and then. Dynasty Warriors moveset, even at the outset, is far more fluid and allows for experimentation. Maybe it gets better down the line, but this feels this is a pretty bad knock off so far. For all the talk of Basara's emphasis on action over Dynasty Warriors, the action is far lesser than that of Dynasty Warriors, and the strategy element of traditional Warriors games is absent. It's there in the form of bases, but even then there's absolute zero tension so far.
This stage design continues to be boring as fuck in DW8. This may be my last Dynasty Warriors unless they change it up for DW9. Samurai Warriors, all the way. Fuck linear stages and lack of ANY tension.
Obligatory complaining about SW4's chances of coming out in NA.
Is WO3U really that good? thread title got me interested
Basara has combos up the ass? At the outset at least, there's not much you can do.m with your character. When can you do combos?
Re: DW8 what stars?
As for difficulty, I have it on normal. I've found my favorite Musou games are fine on normal, until a certain point when you should bump it up to hard.
One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 > Dynasty Warriors 8
told ya :smug
what character are you using? if you aren't usingyou are doing it wrongspoiler (click to show/hide)kuzan[close]
Warriors Orochi 3 > all Musou
No way are we getting WO2U. We MIGHT get DW8xl. We are deffo getting SW4.
Game looks so terrible lol
I like DW and I'm sure it'll be good fun, but graphically they aren't even trying. Not even one bit.
Looks like Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate may be getting an English release....
...in Summer 2014. :lol ::)
I can't commit to buying English versions of these games if they're gonna take that damn long to localize stuff. Especially when the majority of Ultimate is ALREADY DONE IN ENGLISH.

Will it be physical in the US this time?

Didn't know there was a Gundam called "BearGGuy." Sounds like the official Gundam of the Bore!
:neogaf
It's the same game as the last one but with the graphics of GM2 instead of GM3. The only new units are b-tier Seed and Unicorn units and now MA's that have been in the series for a few games are playable + Bear guy whose a pre-order bonus from Gunpla Builders OAV.
I love the series, but this game is pointless. But that's what happens when GM3 already had through Unicorn/OO and the only new Gundam show since then has been AGE which no one wants in a game and now Build Fighters. They should put the series on hold for a generation until a couple more real Gundam series come out and come back with their stuff included.
Called Shin Gundam Musou in Japanese, the new title marks a return to a more realistic graphical style for the series after Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3's cel-shaded look. This will allow for things like spot damage on Mobile Suits, and you'll get ample chance to see this in action, given that NBGI is planning for over 100 MS units to be playable between Official Mode (which recreates the original story from several Gundam anime) and Ultimate Mode (which features an all-new story).
New units include the RX-0 Banshee from Gundam UC and the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam and GAT-X202 Aegis Gundam both from Gundam SEED. In addition, Shin Gundam Musou will feature controllable Mobile Armors, mech units that are generally much larger than your typical MS unit.
The new Gundam game, currently pegged at 80 percent complete, is due out Dec. 19 in Japan. The PS3 version will cost 7980 yen (approximately $80), while the Vita game will go for 6980 yen (about $70).
Official Mode Returns: MSG, Zeta, CCA, UC, Seed, Seed Destiny Only
Ultimate Mode instead of story mode :/
Over 120 suits, most ever in the series
New Upgrade System (Suits and Weapons)
Taking all the best aspects of the first three games and cramming them into this game before the jump to Next Gen
New units spotted:
Super Gundam: Zeta Gundam
Strike Gundam (All Four Packs): Gundam Seed
Freedom Gundam: Gundam Seed
Impulse Gundam (Force Pack): Seed Destiny
Zaku Warrior (Green Color): Seed Destiny
Mobile Armors are now playable!!
Maybe Mu La Flaga will be a playable pilot ^_^
New Confirmations 10/01/13:
Bearguy First Edition Bonus DLC
Legend Gundam (most likely Rey as also)
Destroy Gundam MA (most likely Stella as well)
Yeah, if you've never played any before it could be the best one. Then again I really liked the cell-shaded look of GM3 and the speedy smaller battlefields so I doubt this will top GM3 for me. But if you've played them all it doesn't really seem worth an upgrade. Hell they're not even calling it GM4 because it's such an incremental advancement.

Are you going to apply this Infamous Second Son and not bother with that either?
Infamous looks like Infamous with better graphics, more powers, more destruction. If you liked Infamous 2 (like a lot of people did), this will be fun. If you are an Infamous hater, you will hate this.
Game will score mainly 8s like Infamous 1 & 2 did. It's the same damn game. Not expecting it to change anyone's minds.
I don't even care if it's incremental. It's Gundam. I'm buying it.
Gundam Breaker ruled. :maf
Has there been any word on DW8XL coming to the US yet on ps3 or vita?
Has there been any word on DW8XL coming to the US yet on ps3 or vita?
Nothing yet. They only just recently announced that Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate would be coming out in Summer 2014. Pretty much why I'm back to importing these games again.

They are still revealing more Gundams for that game. The character count is gonna be totally insane.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-dehlxzHk0
Well that was unexpected :o
aren't you guys happy that it will now be you three guys and all of the nintendo fans that have suddenly become huge musou fans? (http://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/pachah1.png)
you know the thing i don't get is that musou game have huge cast and there aren't enough relevant character in zelda game to make for a standard 8 character fighting game let alone a musou cast! what the heck are they going to put? play as malon? the guy with the trombone that plays the song of storm? a chicken? play as navi and annoy everyone to submission? the number of relevant zelda character is so low that they had to put toon link in smash bros just to add more zelda characters
I wonder if link will be mute as usual? Musou games also have lots of chatter and talky talk so i dunno how a silent protaginist will work.
Kenshin Musou would make me cream.
Wow, Koei already announced DW8 XL for North America/Europe- Spring 2014 (likely April) release on PS3, PS4, and Vita. No info on whether or not North America gets this retail or if it's gonna be download only yet. If they can't go for closer releases, I'm still going to import DW8+XL on PS4 in February, especially with the Vita version to sync data with. Plus Sengoku Musou 4 will be out before then.
Himu- sure, never tried online co-op before although I read it was broken. Hit me up if you see me online.
Too many licenses, some held by other companies like Naruto & Bleach.
Also decreases the licenses they can use for seperate musou series over the years. A lot of these manga have enough characters for 2-3 musou games as is.
Looks clean, looks PS3, can't tell framerate from stream.
Also, this game has a partner system. When you go into hyper mode, your character will do his/her musou, and then your partner will appear in his/her mobile suit to wreak more havoc. You have control over the partner character during this time. Was surprised to see that there's no limit to size on this- you can even have a giant spaceship come down and reign down all over the place! :lol
Did any of the previous Gundam Musous use this system? It's similar to One Piece Pirate Warriors 2.
Yeah, they had partner system like your buddies are running around the map with you and you can do powered up musous in conjunction with them, but that sounds like One Piece Musou 2 system for sure. Which is cool, I like that system.
Glad to hear it runs well on Vita. Could be fun to have a portable musou. Graphically it looks like it took a big downgrade from the console version.
Since my copy arrived earlier than I expected (I was tempted to give the FedEx guy a tip because he had a huge smile on his face when he knocked on my door--one of the perks of living near FedEX world headquarters), I thought I'd share an initial impression/review of about an hour of gameplay.
For those on the fence about importing, consider this a WAY more polished DW Gundam 3. KT definitely took their time with this, and it shows with the suit models, story modes, and how battles play out.
Each pilot has unlockable skills as they level up, but now the skills can be leveled up too (three levels) with the in-game currency (there's two types: pilot points and team points). Combat's been refined to make the suits more responsive and effective against large mobs starting out, so you won't feel pressured by beam/rocket spam. EDIT--You no longer level up your mobile suit like in DW Gundam 3, but attach better parts to it, and the materials you have determine the parts you can equip.
Official Mode is impressive! I'm currently playing the Unicorn story (since it's my fave series) and it's almost like it was taken exactly from the movies with the exact same scenes, but with narration that bridges over most of each of the episodes. Expect to spend about 2-5 hours clearing each series, depending on whether you rush through it or take your time.
Customization--is VERY simple. As you fight, you'll get plans from defeated suits. The options are easy to understand, as each part you get SHOWS you what changes from your base suit and EXPLAINS in English the attributes that change as well. Better parts require more materials that you gain from beating levels, so expect to grind for the best stuff. Each suit has a list of it's weapons (in Japanese), and so far I'm not sure if you can switch out weapons with others (i.e. Beam Rifle with Beam Magnum).
Gameplay/Combat: Like DW Gundam 3, you can have a partner assist you in battle, but now they help you through combined musou attacks instead of various perks like giving you funnels or having the Satellite Cannon blast enemies near you. I'm hoping the favorite partner feature isn't like the previous games where you have to worry about being liked or disliked by other characters you meet (you can have up to five favorite partners and one dedicated partner for battle).
Music: Notable theme remixes from flagship series such as "Within the Flash (Zeta)", "Unicorn, Mobile Suit, Mad-Nug, Banshee (Unicorn), "Char's Theme (forgot the name--MSG) along with brand new tunes for this game work really well in the interludes. The custom BGM feature is fairly straight forward, as you can use your own music that's on your PS3 that you set up from the options menu.
Characters/Mobile Suits: I'm already surprised at the Mobile Suit Variation include (in the gallery, you can see the unlocked characters, suits, music, and famous scenes from each series), even if it's only one person (I haven't downloaded Bearguy yet).
***For the Gundam Wing fans--There's seven characters that are in-game (not sure if just playable or operator only--(i.e. Relina), so counting the Operation Meteor pilots, that's all of them along with Zechs/Milliardo and Treiz.
Thankfully, there's quite a few characters for ZZ Gundam (9), only two for Victory, five for Turn A, two for X, and that's all I can remember at the moment.
Anyhow, overall, this is definitely the best DW Gundam game in a LONG time and runner-up for best of the year (between this and Gundam Breaker).
EDIT--The card feature is new. I have no idea what it's for, but I'm guessing that they can be equipped to boost various stats or give you bonuses as you play.
I'll add more stuff as I uncover it, but feel free to ask questions if you're curious!
DW8 :obama
Later stages are so fucking baller. I have no clue what they were thinking with those earlier stages. Were straight DOG SHIT.
DW8 PS4/Vita is confirmed for NA and Europe. (http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2013/12/19/dynasty-warriors-8-xtreme-legends-coming-to-ps4-ps3-ps-vita-in-spring-2014/)
Anyone know how it runs on PS4?

DW8 :obama
Later stages are so fucking baller. I have no clue what they were thinking with those earlier stages. Were straight DOG SHIT.
I think the problem is that every time you play story mode, it's essentially designed as if it were your first DW. I think they need to scale back the tutorial-ness though. One stage per kingdom is more than enough.
Naw I'm still waiting for FFX HD from play Asia. Shit is ridic. I'll import Basara 4 by year end tho. Looks amazing. :drool
The problem Lyte, is that you assume I am a Basara fan. I'm not. I've only played 3 and think it is pretty good. But I'm not really attached though 4 looks great. I will be spending 80 dollars on risk. I do not like playing with risk.
I have played FFX and X-2 and am familiar with FF item names, weapon names;etc.
On the other hand, I am not a Basara fan. You should be convincing me to buy Basara 4 for 80 dollars and not saving it for Sengoku Musou 4.
Watching a 24 minute Basara 4 vid. The claim that Basara has less kanji is bullshit. Especially since FFX/X-2 have a shit load (ie. MOST) of items in katakana. FFX menus are in full katakana. Basara 4 menus, I see kanjikanjikanjikanji.
lol Fuck this. Basara is at least high school/college level especially since it's a period game with crazier kanji. FF is for middle schoolers.
FF it is.
Good. More vocab. I won't be learning shit while I play Basara. Action is too quick, dialogue pops up too fast. When I look up words, don't want to have to deal with this.
How is it cheating by doing something you're familiar with? :what
And since I'm familiar with Musou and RGG, I'm importing that Sengoku Musou 4 and Ryu Ga Gotoku: Ishin. I'll get Basara 4 when it hits The Best and I have a better handle on the language.
I still don't get why you aren't practicing by translating manga or something, but whatever. Back to musou.
You're not getting Sengoku Basara 4.
U LOSE, HIMU CHAN
Basara 4 is out this week in Japan, right?
Looks like most the DW8 dlc is already downloadable on the psvita. Can't get the game yet, but it's good to know that it's gonna be cross buy.
Been playing a lot of One Piece 2, it really is a great musou title. But as someone who is completely unfamiliar with OP, it has been a surreal and jarring experience. I can only imagine what kind of drugs the creators were on when creating the characters.
What is the best Musou game?
What is the best Basara game?
What is the best Musou game?

Do you need to know much Japanese to play the Basara games? I was just looking at some SB4 gameplay vids and it looks crazy good as well

All you need right there.
Damn... now you got me hyped for this series... !
Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, and Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends for PlayStation 3 will launch simultaneously across North America on March 25 and Europe on April 4, Tecmo Koei announced.

They probably want to get it out before summer since either Orochi 3 Ultimate or SW4 will release around that time...I hope.
Dynasty Warriors Gundan Reborn coming to PSN digital this summer - physical in Europe
Yeah, no vita release in the west. Supposedly its scamco's fault.
That's a big graphical upgrade for me, surprisingly. Better lighting, shaders, and effects really make the ps4 version a beaut.
Can't wait for the Samurai Warriors 4 up port.
Fuck YES. Those SW4 vids are perfect. Stage music and enemy numbers are great. No huge DW enemy numbers! WOOT WOOT! YES!!!! :hyper
Why aren't there any Sengoku Musou 4 vids on youtube. Didn't this come out 8 days ago? I want to look at a full stage.
I'm waiting for the inevitable PS4 port.
On another note, I think I'm finally tired of playing Warriors Orochi 3. This is the third go around and I'm starting to get bored halfway. I must have put over 100 hours into it between all of the playthroughs so no big deal but I'm waiting for DW8XL for PS4 in the next three weeks. Can't wait! :hyper

That's the big reason why I'm trying to hold off, although it probably won't come out until an XL version in the late fall.QuoteOn another note, I think I'm finally tired of playing Warriors Orochi 3. Three times? Holy shit, dude. Do you mean you've replayed it multiple times, or do you mean different versions?
I powered through Ultimate last year, to get to the new stages...and then burned out. :lol I need to go back to it already.
You're not much worse. He bought a wii u. Sold it, bought another wii u. Gimma dat payola.
Would like to get rid of DW8, SM3 Wii, Shin Hokuto Musou, One Piece 1, and Musou Orochi 2. DW8 would be no problem but I have no idea who would take the Japanese games. Suppose I don't really need SM3Z anymore either once SM4 is out.

Hell I'm interested in getting DW8 on PS4. It looks pretty good graphically and well what else is on the system other then FPS?

Why isn't complete edition also on ps3
How's J-Stars? Thinking about picking it up in a couple weeks along with Basara 4 and a bunch of other janky PS3 games.
Why isn't complete edition also on ps3
I think Japan got it...they just didn't want to bundle DW8+XL together in the U.S. for whatever reason. How's J-Stars? Thinking about picking it up in a couple weeks along with Basara 4 and a bunch of other janky PS3 games.
It's very similar to Gundam Vs. Gundam. I haven't had time to play these games yet to really offer any impressions. Need to kick my own ass and get this packing done and finished already. :punch :punch

Why don't they stop releasing ports and release a new musou concurrently with PS4 version :maf

How was Basara 4? Worth picking up a used copy?

Would also recommend adding J-Stars to your shopping list. Totally going off-topic, but the only one you may want to hold off on is Oneechanbara Kagura Z. It's supposedly lacking in content since they decided to make a ton of stuff (paid) DLC instead. I still kind of want it but not for a high price. (EDIT- I see that there is a cheaper re-release coming in April. Hmm...)
i may have to get a ps4 for musou ports
join us Rah.
I thought about getting DW8 on PS4. It looks good and there's not much else on the system right now. I'm not against this genre. I have and liked Sengoku Basra 3, 999 Nights 1/2, and Onichanbara. So I guess there's no reason play the originator of this type of game.
I'll wait till it's under $40.

There is a shitload of content in this game and it feels like I got a long way to go. I'll be playing this one for a while, probably until the inevitable port of Samurai Warriors 4 hits the PS4.
And we are getting SW4. That was confirmed earlier this year.
Those system reqs :lol They literally dumped the PS3 code to PC didn't they...
Save data from the PlayStation 3 or PS Vita versions of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate will unlock additional goodies in the PlayStation 4 version, this week’s Famitsu reveals.
Unlocked bonuses include:
Unlimited Mode, which tasks a team of five characters with surviving various trials to escape a multitier dungeon, has added three additional scenarios.
Growth points, stock experience points, and in-game gold presents.
20 original desktop wallpapers.
Previous title background music.
Two of all raw materials obtained in Unlimited Mode.
Additionally, Tecmo Koei announced the game would support viewer comment functionality when live streaming. If a user comments “recover,” a recovery item will appear on the field. And commenting “protect” will damage surrounding enemies with fire and thunder. There are other hidden commands, too.
First-run copies of the PlayStation 4 version will ship with Toukiden-themed character costumes. The game is due out on June 26.
Following our report from Famitsu earlier this week, Tecmo Koei has released first screenshots of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate live streaming from PlayStation 4.
As previously reported, when live streaming, viewers will be able to interact with the player via specific comments. Commenting “protect,” for example, will induce one of five damage types (thunder, wind, ice, fire, or arrow rain) to surrounding enemies. Or by commenting “recover,” viewers can help players in a pinch by dropping a random recovery item on the field.
First-print copies of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate for PlayStation 4 will include a set of Toukiden-themed costumes for Kaguya, Taigong Wang, and Nuwa. You’ll also find those pictured.

Fuck CAW.
It'd be nice if we got a disc version of WO3 ultimate this time. SCEA seems to have relaxed the 'no dub no disc' policy, considering the new Jojo game..
something about CAW turns me off in relation to musou. I want to play as a legendary chinese/japanese warrior. why the fuck would i want to create my own warrior?
Eh. I still like to play as historical figures.
As of right now, Jim is the only one reporting that the game is broken. :spin
HEY DUDES,
I played Dynasty Warriors 2 and thought it was super fun but hadn't touched the series since outside of a demo or two. Am I correct in assuming 8XLCE this is the best game in the series?

Lyte: you're graded in free mode? Was that in regular DW8? Don't remember. I got a C for that. Apparently there's a fire attack? :what You also have to fulfill conditions for each free mode stage. :lawd
CHALLENGE MODE!!! :lawd Shit ton of enemies!
To be fair, vanilla DW8 had much, much less options here and the game structure didn't flow nearly as well. DW8XL feels the most Diablo Musou has probably has ever been. I highly recommend it!
What modes does SW4 have? I've been on media blackout.
Samurai Warriors generally is more fun than DW. Can't wait! How is free mode?
Hyrule Warriors is out Aug 14th in JPland, Team Ninja are involved with it a bit alongside Omega Force.
Very cool. These games are fun!
Bork, you're saying SW4 is better than DW8XLCE?
Damn. I want a PS4 now.
Lyte, you said the vita version of SW4 was good, right?

I hope to God Koei gets to mooch off some of that money they are using for that Zelda Musou game so they can use its engine for future Musou Entries People Will Actually Play. :drool Imagine that engine for DW9.
-Several other characters are playable too. Aonuma was surprised by how many.
No, it doesn't. Mario Gold did like 15k. Musou usually sells 200-300k units in Japan, much less in abroad, and Wii U's base doesn't seem interested in even buying first party Nintendo titles. Not going to happen.

Oh. I don't know what cross play is. Why show a ps3 version then?
PS4 orochi coming west??? :o :o
Famitsu has gone live with its first preview of the PlayStation 4 version of Samurai Warriors 4, providing us our first look at how it compares to the PlayStation 3 version.
Samurai Warriors 4 - PlayStation 4 Version Samurai Warriors 3 - PlayStation 3 Version
The PlayStation 4 version will offer enhanced graphics, better lighting and shadows, and a greater number of enemies on screen. It will also support cross-save between PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.
First-print copies of the PlayStation 4 version will include a set of 18 costumes based off the first generation Samurai Warriors.
The game is due out in Japan on September 4 and in North America and Europe this fall (alongside the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita versions).

Samurai Warriors 4 will be released on October 21st in North America and October 24th in Europe for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, Tecmo Koei have announced.
The game will feature over 50 playable characters and the ability to switch between two characters in real-time. Additionally, the PlayStation 4 version of the game will feature better visuals and “significantly” more enemies on-screen.
Additionally, co-op gameplay and cross-save functionality in Samurai Warriors 4 will be supported across all three systems.
Update: In North America, Tecmo Koei say the PS3 and Vita versions of the game will be available exclusively as downloads for $49.99 and $39.99. The PS4 version will be available at retail and will cost $59.99.
Two musou up-ports are making me buy a PS4 this fall. God help me.
Hey lyte, is the framerate in ps4 dw8 better than ps3 or about the same? Thinking of getting the ps4 version when i get a ps4 and selling dw8 + xl since those two combined still seem to be worth money.
Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate PS4 shipped! :o :hyper
Finally something to play on PS4!
:rejoice
Please post impressions on frame rate asap. I really, really want this to be 60fps locked. No reason it shouldn't be since WO3 is less advanced graphically than DW8.
Have any of you played Basara 4? Thoughts/opinions? I enjoyed the shit out of 3. I had a good time with the first PS3 Orochi game, but Basara combat felt superior.
The best Basara is the just-released Sengoku Basara 4, easily. They have definitely improved it over SB3. It isn't a huge leap visually, but there's more enemy variety, crazier stages, and more moves/customization added. This is a weird thing to praise, but I LOVE the way you go from stage to stage in this game now- I'm playing as Date Masamune, and between stages, it's presented as a real-time third-person view on him riding his horse, while he gets reports of other battles/alliances that are going on in Japan- complete with mini real time cut scenes to show this! It's so much nicer than just a typical map.
SB4. Man.
Capcom, why did I doubt you? This game is too fucking good. They just built on SB3 and added more moves, weapon customization/leveling/fusion, and continued to to give us crazy stages and enemies to fight. Enemies can now group and attack you in various formations too, like building a human pyramid or turning themselves into giant spinning wheels. :lol There's also more enemy variety per stage.
Played one of Ii Naotora's routes, going the "drama" path, once. She has a large sword and plays slower than most other characters. At first she seemed pretty limited, but then you quickly earn her unique ability, which lets you use R1 as an attack modifier, effectively doubling her moveset. I was doing crazy custom combos all over the place!
Next up was Shima Saikon. I'm not the biggest fan of his design -his outfit is a bit too revealing for my tastes and would look better on a female, but hey, this is BASARA- This dude is INSANE. He also has what amounts to two movesets, which you can access by pressing R1 to switch stances (blades and a more kick-oriented style), and the kick style reminds me very much of a Kenshiro/Rei Fist Of The North Star fusion. You can do a lot of his stuff in the air too, so there's a lot of juggling and air combos going on.
The only mistake I've made so far was trying out one of the game modifiers-- I equipped an item that makes all the enemies' health bars regenerate. If you beat them, you get more money than usual, but it made one of the stages I played completely impossible...my level was too low to beat one of the sub-generals and advance to the next area of the stage. I forgot that I had equipped this item and was going crazy wondering why I couldn't make a dent in this enemy's armor. :lol
This is also the first SB game with DLC. Currently there's two Date Masamune outfits (one came with the game) up; one of them is a DMC1 Dante outfit. Had to buy it!
Absolutely having a blast playing this. I like it so much more than SB3.
SB4 features at least five special moves per character, three super moves, and a bodyguard who you can command to attack or team up with to unleash an incredibly powerful dual super move with. To do this, all your meters must be full, and the game then goes into this black and white beyond-SF4 style ink and paint sequence with shit just going nuts. I one hit killed a stage boss using this attack.
SB4 is also improved, graphically, over SB3 (I usually game on a 23" monitor- hooked the PS3 up to my 42" HDTV and was surprised at how clean the picture looked), although it does still the problem where regular enemy NPCs have noticeably less-detailed faces and no mouth movement when speaking.
Is the frame rate at least better, even if it does fluctuate?
Koei :-\
I'm getting a PS4 in september anyways, so there's no reason for me not to get the PS4 version, but what is Koei's problem. WO3 already looks underwhelming on PS3, it couldn't take that much effort to at least have it up to 60fps if they aren't going to do anything to the game. Is the peon count increased at least? You said there is still pop in.
I hope the PS4 version of SW4 fares better.
Koei sucks.
PS4 Orochi 3 still looks slightly better than I remember it looking on PS3, so that's a good enough reason to pick it up. Dunno if I have the patience to get the Platinum for it again if it involves grinding out every single character to S proficiency again. :stahp

One Piece. :-\
I'll suffer through mediocrity for the HNK license, but it'd take a herculean effort to get me to play a One Piece game.
I forgot Pirate Warriors 2 was on sale, I should get that.
Crazy that it's $5 cheaper than Ken's Rage 2, even though it's newer, better, and has the hotter license.
Lyte, you didnt import hyrule warriors? I am dissapointed. :stahp
You have a contractual obligation to get the PS4 and report on the quality of the port. :-*
Apparently they are saying its not a musou game, but it sure looks like one to me.
With Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate out, the Fall of Musou has begun!
Gonna wait here for Lyte's SW4 PS4 impressions 8)
Why does that character look sad during her musou attack?
Why does that character look sad during her musou attack?
:uguu
She's apologizing for the musou attack. That kind of character.
Apparently they are saying its not a musou game, but it sure looks like one to me.
Escorting an engineer unit while a unit from the other side of the map goes toward my main camp.. Hyrule warriors is a musiu game alright.
Sounds great.
do nintendo fans like it?
Well SW3 was Wii only in the west. :-[
I got WO3 Ultimate for my Vita for super cheap thanks to some glitch..what the hell am I suppose to do (it's my first musou game)KILL ALL THE THINGS :hyper :punch :gun
I got WO3 Ultimate for my Vita for super cheap thanks to some glitch..what the hell am I suppose to do (it's my first musou game)
Why didn't anyone tell me that Samurai Warriors 4 ps3 was going to be psn only?
But on the flip side, story mode is way shorter.
The games content also feels...basic. In SamWar 2 - my favorite Musou - you had that board game thing, you had a fighter game mode, you have the roguelike-esque mode where you went from floor to floor and engaged in insane situations, on top of free and story mode. This just has a shorter story-mode, a free mode, and some Conquest mode. That's it.
So SW4 is worth picking up on PS4?
I am assuming you are referring to SW2, which I haven't played in forever. What seems so different and more DW-like to you?
It's nothing like Basara is. The stages do not have that kind of straight linear feel to them.
It's based on more than the Oda route. It's based on four routes, actually, and I shouldn't have to play through every single route on the hardest modes just to get a sliver of challenge, Lyte. That's bullshit and you know it.
And it's not just one title. It's this combined with DW8 vanilla. I feel like I should give them another chance, with DW8 Empires or SW4 XL but it just seems clear that they want to make Musou more action-focused to help out limping sales. I want to give them another chance. But SW is my favorite Musou series and I don't like this direction. If I don't like this direction, why should I bother with others? Looking online, I'm just about the only person who feels this way, so it feels futile to keep throwing money at KT, when it's obvious most of their fanbase are perfectly fine with their new direction.
yeah, I didn't like 8 vanilla. I thought 8 xl was great, though.
I guess getting vanilla ones should be out for me like you say. And I felt I shouldn't wait for Empires because strategy is integral to SW's experience for me. It's even in SW: Chronicles, so I thought it'd be in this too.
I didn't get the new Gundam game and One Piece Warriors 2 eventually gets a bit boring. I guess I'll have to wait for SW3XL or whatever. When does DW8 Empires come out?
Are the maps smaller? I want a musou like gundam musou 3 again.
hyper attacks need to be nerfed. there is no reason to mash anything other than triangle save during the initial officer confrontation, and then it's square once, triangle x 100000000 (with some X presses thrown in to combo link).
pretty as sw4 is, sw3 xl was the better game.
Chronicle is sounding more and more like the "XL" version of this game. But this is Koei so I expect to see an XL version for the consoles. :P

Himu, have you checked out videos of Hyrule Warriors game play? Might be more to your liking.
戦国無双4 - II
Sengoku Musou 4 - II
Created by: KOEI
Console: PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita & Playstation 4
Release Date: 11 February 2015 [JP]
New Characters
井伊直政 Ii Naomasa (Seiyuu: Konishi Katsuyuki, aka Maeda Toshiie)
Weapon: Longspear
Description: TBD
Misc. Information
TBD
Square-Enix should sue them for putting numbers after other numbers.
Though titled Samurai Warriors 4-II, the game is less a sequel, and more so “another Samurai Warriors 4.” (Think Xtreme Legends.) It will feature new military commander Ii Naomasa (CV: Katsuyuki Konishi, Weapon: Spear), as well as new stages Koshu, Osaka Castle, Honzugawa Gate, Oshu, and Kuisegawa. The game’s Musou Enbu story mode will be ‘reborn’ with a new story different from the previous game.
Additionally, the Infinite Castle survival mode from the original Samurai Warriors will return. And the game will offer reforms of its Godspeed Action system, weapons and warhorse growth systems, and enemy military commander AI adjustments. Event scene backgrounds have been 3D-ified in that you can now move the camera around.
Development is currently 85 percent complete.
When I played 1p, it was still under 30fps...again, how is this not 60fps??
Just don't understand how people can say Hyrule is a good warriors game when the framerate is dogshit. It really affects the playability when it's so choppy.
what's a good gateway for these games.
I haven't really tried any sort of Warriors game since the PS2 . Should I try out any of the spin offs first (Gundam, Fist of the North Star), or Sengoku Basara, or what. This shit seems impenetrable to a guy who's been out of it for a decade plus.
Thirding Orochi 3 as a gateway game for the rest of the series. I'd never given the main Dynasty Warriors series a shot because I was always intimidated by the gargantuan cast of unfamiliar characters, but knew the Samurai ones from playing the first game (and some general Japanese history). After playing Orochi 3, I felt much more confident in buying DW7, 7XL, 8 and 8XL after it since I knee what to expect.
Story Mode reverts to a style reminiscent to previous titles. Stories have a distinguished protagonist and partner with results different from the ones seen in the vanilla title. Cleared individual stories can be experienced in Free Mode.
Hyper attacks will be more effective when ally morale is high. Certain areas on the battlefield are fortified to inhibit these attacks.
Enemy AI has been further reworked to match the player character's movements. Maps should have friendlier camera work for horse riding than before.
Character attributes receive a special boost if equipped armaments share the same attributes. It is possible to surpass maximum capacity for weapons and so forth in this title.
War scrolls can be used to instantly implement weapon skills onto a weapon. The pace for adding skills have been altered. New skills are in the game.
Mounts can be strengthened to have additional attributes.
The Dream Castle Mode from Chronicle 3 shall be present. New areas for this mode are being added to distinguish itself from the portable versions.
Offline and online co-op is available for all modes.
Event scenes have rotatable 3D backdrops and revised special effects.
Downloadable content so far includes costumes.
So the lesson is don't buy main line warriors games unless it's an XL.
I hope Pirate Warriors 3 is as good as 2.
Apparently DW8 Empires is getting a physical release in february :o
Drop DW7. DW8XL is much much better. Play WO3, it's probably the GOAT musou. Stop buying games because you have the money and play the ones you have.

Wasn't playing DW7, just saying if you have WO3, any reason to play DW8 over that?
Why does the DW8 "Complete Edition" on Steam have $200 of DLC? ???
Yeah that's one answer, the other is that it's the complete two discs of DW8 and DW8 Xl sammiched together and the DLC for the two is a separate thing. Why does the DW8 "Complete Edition" on Steam have $200 of DLC? ???
Because fuck you :yeshrug

Wasn't playing DW7, just saying if you have WO3, any reason to play DW8 over that?
Besides the obvious (different characters, levels, and story), the play mechanics are a little different. The two-weapon system from DW7 is back. Plus there's the Ambition mode which could be a whole game by itself and is a little more strategy-oriented. DW8XL is a great game...the question is how much musou do you want? But it's hard to say no to a $16 price.
I need to get back to Hyrule Warriors. It's been neglected. :-[ Well, I do have a few days off after today...

Today, Capcom announced Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi, an updated version of the game, which will also be on PS4. Details from this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine reveal that the game will have a collaboration with Tales of Zestiria. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]
While the magazine didn’t go too far into specific details, it reports that the collaboration with Tales of Zestiria will include costumes of Sorey, Mikleo, and others for Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi.
We’ve yet to hear anything about a Sengoku Basara collaboration on the Tales of Zestiria side, but with the game releasing in two days, we might hear of one last surprise before its launch.
Additionally, the magazine reveals three new generals that will be playable in Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi.
Ashikaga Yoshiteru: He was an NPC in the original game, but he’ll be back using a sceptor as a special form-changing weapon with different modes between katana, spear, and bow. A certain skill will bring out a roulette, which changes the style depending on what you get.
Sen no Rikyu: Rikyu will fight using a fan, and is said to have some sort of split-personality disorder going on, which changes according to the type of move you use.
Kyugoku Maria: She was also an NPC in the original game, but she’ll be playable this time around, using her long cloths as whip-like weapons.
Finally, the game will also introduce a “Battle Roulette” system. This system will have a roulette appear on the screen upon meeting certain conditions, and depending on what you get, it’ll give you a different way to play. You can collect medals from the roulette, and can be exchanged for special items, with a total of 167 of them to collect.
Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi will release in Japan this summer for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The PS4 version will run in full HD and 60fps.

Hyper attacks will be more effective when ally morale is high. Certain areas on the battlefield are fortified to inhibit these attacks.
Enemy AI has been further reworked to match the player character's movements. Maps appear to have friendlier camera work for horse riding than before.
Stats and personal skills can be learned for each character by using experience points on a grid in a manner resembling Conquest Mode.
Character attributes receive a special boost if equipped armaments share the same attributes. It is possible to surpass maximum capacity for weapons and so forth in this title.
War scrolls can be used to instantly implement weapon skills onto a weapon. The pace for adding skills have been altered. New skills are included in the game.
Mounts can be strengthened to have additional attributes.
Edit characters from the vanilla title can be transferred into this game through save data. They can be used in Free Mode and Infinite Castle Mode.
Offline and online co-op is available for all modes.
Event scenes have rotatable 3D backdrops and revised special effects.
Downloadable content so far includes costumes.
Disregarding the edit characters, players cannot directly transfer their Samurai Warriors 4 save data into this game; having it at the start of their game rewards 10,000 gold and all twenty war scrolls.
Playable character debuting in this entry:
Naomasa Ii
Stages
New stages include:
Kuzegawa
Honzugawa Gate
Kizugawa
Kai Province
Koshu
Story Mode reverts to a style reminiscent to previous titles with thirteen character centric stories. Each chapter has a distinguished protagonist with partner interactions different from the vanilla title. Players are still free to choose whoever they desire for the five stages seen in each narrative.
Infinite Castle Mode
Fusion of previous games' Survival and Challenge Modes. It is split into two sub-headings: Main and Annex. Both regulate players to one character.
Main is a survival based experience. Complete various objectives on each floor to proceed up the castle. Enemies become stronger on higher levels yet they drop better rewards if defeated. Players can quit the castle climb by choosing the escape option available every ten levels.
Annex is the challenge section with four selections available.
Warrior Room - Defeat as many enemies as possible within the time limit.
Gold Room - Hit enemies to collect a mountain of gold before time runs out.
Tempest Room - Race for record time whilst avoiding or stopping any obstacles in the way.
Deathmatch Room - High difficulty room where enemies can instantly kill players in a single hit. Complete the other three rooms with a certain score to unlock.
Players can post their rankings online and compete for high scores. War scrolls can be easily purchased in this mode's shop.
Why? This isnt coming out for a while yet.
Why? This isnt coming out for a while yet.
from what I understand, these games have unlimited content but are kinda shallow, so I might get sick of the gameplay style with just one of them.
DQH has frame rate issues, too. Obviously a higher frame rate than Hyrule Warriors, but I don't get that you can play DQH that but not stand Hyrule Warriors.
I still have mixed thoughts on DQH. I'm certain that if I were more into DQ I'd be foaming at the mouth all over it, but the game has been almost boring on some stages, like the non-story missions you can select. It's not exactly barrels of fun to go back to the same repeated field map and kill endless slime hordes.
I even found one level that appeared to be a literal grind-fest. You can just slash away at waves of the same enemies until you get tired of it and quit out the level.
:obama
And yet as much as I agree with what you're saying, my problems with DQH come from game design. It's just too simplistic, even more musou, and there is zero strategy from what I have played. I hope this changes.
DQH import prices dropped as soon as the localized version was announced.

Really? I mean the very first boss fight with the dragon in the first stage had more strategy than most musou I've played. Its attacks did high damage, your character had almost no ranged moves so you actually had to block or roll dodge its fire breathing attack and block the claw swipes. Felt closer to an action game boss than a musou boss and I thought that was quite cool. Otherwise yeah, common enemies are brainless and it's more about stat grinding this time around because it's trying to be more rpg-ish.
Also the one thing I don't like about DQH is that you have to kill "every single enemy" to advance, whereas most musou games you can run towards the next objective and avoid enemies; which is how I like my musou because I like speedrunning the maps.

We must have played two different games. :lol That dragon fight was mindless button mashing. It lumbers around very slowly and its attacks were very easy to see coming. You don't even have to really dodge anything. That boss is exactly what I was talking about earlier in the thread when I was saying it felt mindless for the first hour. The next boss you fight really isn't much better-- the giant cyclops also just lumbers around and you avoid his footstomps, slash slash slash, use the canons when able, rinse, repeat.

Otherwise yeah, common enemies are brainless and it's more about stat grinding this time around because it's trying to be more rpg-ish.
Also the one thing I don't like about DQH is that you have to kill "every single enemy" to advance, whereas most musou games you can run towards the next objective and avoid enemies; which is how I like my musou because I like speedrunning the maps.DQH import prices dropped as soon as the localized version was announced.
Second hand? I mean the game just came out so new prices are just the price of the game with the current exchange rate +~$5 import markup.
Play Asia has the PS4 version in the clearance section right now.
Don't know if I'll get around to playing DQ Heroes more than 2-3 hours (aka my limit for musou outside Gundam & One Piece).
what's the best musuo on PS4 currently? Warriors Orochi 3?wo3u or dw8xlce. it's hard to decide between the two. wo3u definitely has better stage design but dw8xl has slightly superior combat mechanics, since WO3U is based on the DW7 engine. depends on what you value more, i think stage design is more important in musou though. also wo3u runs better on ps4
what's the best musuo on PS4 currently? Warriors Orochi 3?
I didn't know Senran Kagura was a musuo game heh
i might just stick with hyrule warriors for now. just hate booting up the wii u sometimes!
I'm hyped to play the Bladestorm remake. I skipped the original. Any impressions on the PS4 remake yet? I see it came out a month ago in Japan.there's a US demo up. last i checked people couldn't access it from the ps4 store, only the webstore.
SW4 on PS4 is so good arhghghgghg - is there anothing Gundam coming? I guess I could pretend the SW cast is a bunch of gundams
Anyone importing One Piece Pirate Warriors 3? It isn't coming to the west until summer. :fbm
Would have, but with Steam version this time, much rather wait for that. Locked 60fps in musou is nice and who knows if they'll be able to hit that in the PS4 version. The PS3 OPM games run pretty bad.
I just pretend that framerate drops are when my character is getting awesome and the armies just cant handle it.
That's how I rationalized SotC' framerate issues. Giants are trying to smash me, the ground is shaking and everything slows down? Checks out.I just pretend that framerate drops are when my character is getting awesome and the armies just cant handle it.
it's where the slow mo kicks in on purpose to show off the beautiful animation
if it's a game I don't like, it's lazy devs
Damn, had no idea DW8XL on PC had problems. Thought it looked good and played smooth.koei pc ports have been pretty bad. dw8e was the same as dw8xl too — don't see it changing. sticking to ps4 seems like the safer option.
Damn, had no idea DW8XL on PC had problems. Thought it looked good and played smooth.
they also lack basic modern pc port features like automatic controller support. having to manually map controls in 2015 :-\Damn, had no idea DW8XL on PC had problems. Thought it looked good and played smooth.
I wouldn't call what I'm saying problems, it's just that they pretty much ported the PS3 version over instead of the PS4 version, so all the enhancements are lost. There's also no online multiplayer.
I was thinking about getting Empires but saw too many people saying it was broken and not running correctly on PC.
Played some more Hyrule Warriors. Don't like how much HP the bosses have. Feels like a boring grind to get them dead as opposed to normal musou bosses.
You can still play on Vita with remote play! Best of both worlds.
Is it confirmed that Samurai Warriors 4-II is coming to the US?
Hey Lyte, does OPM3 still play like a traditional musou game? I know OPM did things a little differently (platforming etc) and then OPM2 basically went full musou style. Is 3 more like 2 or 1?
3 is "GOTY Edition" of 2 from everything I'm reading (my copy's still in the mail). Same exact game as 2 but about 8 more playable characters, better stages, tweaks to some existing characters, new story mode, 60fps on PS4. Most people are liking it but are pissed at lack of "sequel" content. It really should've been an XL expansion, but I guess they justified it as a numbered sequel because of the PS4 1080p/60fps improvement. But yeah, same game 8 new characters, the end.
Oh yeah, it has a full new story mode, sure. But I just mean in terms of gameplay additions. Most people wanted more characters (I mean the show has like 300+ to pick from, so 8 or so is not a lot).
I tried DW8 PS4 and holy cowwww at that RE_ENACT PLAYING WHILE BLIND depth of field filter wow. Game is totally fucking unplayable. Glad the PC version I bought is based on the PS3 version and doesn't have that!
How did they ever think that was a good idea? Are they all blind?
i ordered estival versus :goty2
I think I'm over these games tbh, there's just too many of them now. Gonna try to get through OPM3, Hyrule Warriors and DQH.
Damn, One Piece Musou 3 is legit awesome. Really refined gameplay systems traditional big battle musou and 60fps feels and looks so nice compared to the previous games. And yeah it's cool having a good production-value story mode that tells the whole story of One Piece so far.
Your loss. Koei has been on fire the past 3 years with their Musou games, with the exception of maybe Ken's Rage 2. If it was between 2006-2011, I would have agreed with you.
Sengoku Musou 4 Empires just got announced. PS3/PS4/Vita. The Koei train doesn't stop.
I'm often in awe at how absolutely solid Koei's niche for both main Warriors series is that they can go constantly go "Main game > Expansion > Empires" for almost every entry without missing a beat.
Sengoku Musou 4 Empires just got announced. PS3/PS4/Vita. The Koei train doesn't stop.
Any reports on features? sengoku musou 4 sucked donkey balls but there is hope for Empires
Naw it was trash
What did 4-II add?
"Hyper attacks will be more effective when ally morale is high. Certain areas on the battlefield are fortified to inhibit these attacks."
But it's almost impossible to make your morale low.
The only real improvement I'm seeing in that list is infinite castle. :yeshrug maybe longer stories but that's not a guarantee just because there's more maps. On the other hand, character based story mode fits samurai warriors more than clan based.
SW4 made me all musou'd out
Next musou for me is dw8e
How are those graphics for 3ds possible
Bork did you buy SWC3
I'm enjoying it, just wished they'd let you know who was in your party before you start a mission
Forget costumes, they should just put other Capcom characters in these games. Like they get sucked into a time portal or something and end up in Sengoku. Add the real Chun-li, add Ryu, add Dante, etc... just like how Warriors Orochi had Hayabusa, Ayane and stuff.
Pretty sure Capcom said NO more SB outside of Nippon cause literally nobody bought the one they put out on Wii and PS3. :gloomy
What the fuck is Arslan
:bow Arlsan :bow2
I guess this one falls under the "best show that nobody is watching" category. We've now watched the first 13 episodes of the series and it has been absolutely fantastic the whole way through. Great characters, great story, and excellent art/animation. I never saw the original OVAs or read the book/comics this is based on, so I have no idea how much this deviates from the source material, if at all, but this is essentially an anime version of Middle Eastern characters outsmarting and beating the shit out of European crusaders. :lol Nobody actually looks like whatever country they're supposed to be from, but it's pretty obvious that this is the case. The big bad also wears a silver mask on his face and gives me kind of a Char vibe, although he's pretty much 100% evil.
The other vibe I get from this show...is musou. I can absolutely see why Koei is making a musou game out of this series, because it fits perfectly. Pretty much every main character is a total badass who has no problem going through numerous grunts and is only matched by other 'generals.'
Watch it!
You're telling me they could have went with amano design and didn't? :snoop
At least it looks like an anime this time. One piece warriors looked like shit.
FixedYou're telling me they could have went with amano design and didn't? :snoop
Why would they go with an old design and not the current ones, from the anime airing right now and the manga that's drawn by the gal who did Full Metal Alchemist?
:what
That must be 3, 1 and 2 look bad
Not bad. Unfortunately the next musou I buy is DW8 empires
I want DW8E for ps4. Will get it when I get a ps4.
My wife was like "what do you want for your birthday?" I had no clue, so I said "Basara 4 Sumeragi for PS4." Should be here Monday.
I shouldbe fine. My nihongo-skills were mad enough to get through vanilla Basara 4. Well, the little I played of it.
More kanji than before? Huh. Thanks!!
Attack on Titan is looking :zzz.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI1C_nw_Ex4
Maybe Attack on Titan would be better as a Monhun type Tokiden game?
What did you expect? Musou? It's pretty much what I thought it would be.

Aren't the battles in the anime pretty empty aside from the kids and the titans?
Arslan looks cool. Since I'm not interested in the IP, I'll wait a couple more games until the playable cast is bigger. But the art style and combat looks nice.
Capcom has released the first screenshots and information for its newly announced Sengoku Basara: Sanada Yukimura-Den for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
Sengoku Basara: Sanada Yukimura-Den is a lengthy drama that depicts the life of Sanada Yukimura. Military leaders are expressed in their original historical view, and different from previous entries in the series, the story develops closer to historical fact. Players will follow Sanada’s growth to adulthood until the summer campaign of the siege of Osaka.

The stages of the game will also be based on famous battles which actually took place in japan.
So here's this giant enemy crab.
Arslan demo coming to US playstation store this tuesday.
Despite Lyte's lukewarm impressions I really want to try it.
DW8XL is $20 and Samurai Warriors 4-II is $25 on Steam this week.
Which one bois? I haven't played a musou since Hyrule Warriors (and I was honestly thinking about getting HW for 3DS for the new maps, but I'll wait until the season pass content comes out).
Arslan is $26.72 on amazon at the time of this post. Kinda tempted even though we all agreed it was sucky.

Nah, DQH was too boring after 5 hours. If it plays totally different and there's no tower defense stuff, maybe I'll pick up the US release.
Here's 30 minutes of footage from the Vita port. Really liking how this looks to be a fusion of action/RPG and musou now and not just tower defense musou.

I'm weird in that I like rpgs and I sorta-like musou but rpg musou just sounds boring as fuck to me. The musou games I like best are stuff like Gundam Musou 3 (my favorite musou of all time) with really small stages where you move quickly and smash through a ton of enemies. The worst part of every musou game to me is the downtime when you're running between mobs. Although tower defense is pretty bad too because it's more stressful than fun imo.
I find musou games are very replayable, especially when they have good loot drops, so the smaller and shorter the stages the better. Even though I like OPM2/3, the bigger stages really just meant more time wasted doing the long stuff over and over to get the specific characters or outfit drops I wanted. I wish there were more musou games like Gundam Musou 3. But I guess sales have shown that musou fans want big stages and lots of riding horses around, so I'll never get what I want.
Yeah I'm interested in this one because it seems more of an actual ARPG and kind of like Zills Oll PS3.
I was hoping for Orochi 4 from the hints but Berserk is a pretty natural fit for a Musou game so I'm hype anyway.
everything was sanada.gif
What DW strategy game?
Once I figured out what MS was I kind of wondered why they didn't just make it Orochi 4. Whatever, giant crossover musou is best musou either way. :hyper
I wish KT had more interesting IPs, because cross-overs are fun. Would've liked it if the game was a cross-over between ALL their musou games so far. So you get like Luffy, Exia Gundam, Fist of the North Star guy, Arlsan person + the people in this game. I'm assuming at least the Nioh guy will join this game since that's their new IP.

That would probably be a licensing nightmare.
I would like to see a Jump Musou or a Dragonball Musou (that really seems like it would be a perfect fit) at some point...

Sure but it's Japan and they seem able to handle those licensing things. Like with Super Robot Wars. Would probably fuck up the US release. But then we got Tatsunoko v Capcom so who knows?
Guessing it was ass. Ah well.
I forgot DQH2 came out. So it's worth picking up? I dropped the first game after about 6-10 hours.
So Berserk Musou sold like total shit in Japan and every musou games has been selling dramatically fewer and fewer over there. Unless the western sales are picking up some slack, I wonder if eventually musou is going to die as a genre. Hyrule Warriors sells because Nintendo, so that'll keep them a float for a few more games, but I don't see anyway they can turn around the fact that people are tired of musou in Japan. Maybe a musou reboot? Completely refresh the franchise with a brand new concept for gameplay like how Sengoku Basara was a new concept of musou?
Koei Tecmo’s Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru opened at a total of 50,771 units across PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PlayStation 3.

BTW, Dragon Quest Heroes II is the Hyrule Warriors KILLAH. Rocks on both Vita and PS4. And has cross save/play.
- Open world
- There will be towns in the vast fields that players can freely enter and exit, and the map will have considerable differences in elevation.
- All 83 characters that appeared in Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires will appear in the game
- No platforms announced yet (although Sony's Morita was there)
New character:
So instead of making Fire Emblem musou, they made musou Fire Emblem ;)
Open world musou could really be good if it's anything like dqh2
I want Gundam Musou 4, and I'd like it not to suck - Shin Gundam Musou was pretty bad.
I don't mind if they start from scratch and make less units next time as long as they get visual facelifts.

But I didn't play 2 and 3.
I read that as "Goldseekers" :doge
Deafeat all sugar daddies
I like that they're going silly and fun. That's a nice change for musou. I just wish they owned more interesting IPs because their character pull is limited at best. They should do a Capcom x SNK or Capcom x Namco type musou crossover with another company so they get access to their characters.
Double posting likean assholea boss. :doge

Think this was said to be kinda crap, surprised they're bringing it over. Yukimura's a lameo imo but if we can play as Kunoicihi a bit I guess I'll bite on sale down the line.

Just realized I never talked about Berserk Musou.
It's not bad. I'm not a big Berserk fan and I suspect if I were, I'd probably be bigger on it. There's really not much to say here...it's a musou game. Not crap like Arslan, but also not really awesome either. It's a solid DW-style game with similar maps and objectives, and some fully-voiced anime cut scenes inbetween levels. Not sure if these are from the recent anime or not.
Would say to get it if you like Berserk and musou, but don't expect to be blown away by it. IMO the best licensed musou games are easily One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 and 3 and the first Fist Of The North Star game, followed by the Gundam games. I'd probably slot this game in after those.
Honestly, I just want a traditional as balls musou game right now. Berserk looks like a literal DW reskinned with blood. Is that accurate? If so, I'm interested.
Hmm, one of the early steam reviews for Berserk Musou says you can decap and cut people/monsters in half. If I can verify that it's not censored like the JP version I'll grab it.
Character rosters are pretty important for musou games. Musou stars looks alright mechanically, but the playable roster puts me to sleep. with Lu Bu and Yuanji being the only two people I give a shit about. Couldn't even get characters from the actually popular Gust games rather than the Nights of Azure chick, Sophie and her teacher. ???
Would rather go back and play Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, which I passed on when it came out.

Wait isn't Zhou Cang the new guy shown for DW9? He's in musou stars too?
I would say good luck with that, but 2017's been a great year for breathing new live in old franchises, so maybe this will be the game for Koei.
The curse of Bebpo strikes- this game has framerate problems. Some really, really bad ones. :-\ Sucks, because otherwise it's awesome. Import games letting me down lately.

:stahp
Maybe just needs a patch. Aren't their PS4 and especially PS4 Pro musou games fairly smooth? I don't remember framerate issues in musou in a while.
If the game has a PC version, that should fix that. Outside of framerate does the game seem any good?
Slowdown in a Musou game? Well I never!
There's a mobile game that's out in Eng now.
This game has little chance of getting localized, right?
It seems it'd be trickier getting the rights than it was for Orochi.
Why do you say that? Koei-Tecmo localizes all their own stuff. There's no reason why this wouldn't get an English release. I expect them to release it at least by E3, maybe after the latest Samurai Warriors game comes out here.I wasn't sure if it'd be harder since they're pulling characters from so many different IPs. Character rights can be a mess sometimes, with characters being partially owned and rights changing on international releases.
Maybe it seems a bit weird considering Koei has been more forward with porting to NA, but I think that might be expected since it's targeted largely at JP audiences. I'm looking forward to playing this regardless at some point.
8/29 for 'Murica. That's uh, a pretty iffy thing. :yeshrug
The notable thing here is a PC port on Steam and no Vita version in English. Hope the PC port is good, because that would mean no framerate issues.
I get that "Warriors" has historically been the western term KOEI uses for musou games but goddamn if "Warriors All Stars" isn't the worst, most generic name for a game ever.Horizon: Zero Dawn is up there. It doesn't even evoke anything.
Any reason to get DQH2 on PC over PS4? Does it look/run better? Guessing no. I can probably pick up DQH2 on PS4 for <$30 used JPN copy these days, so probably should get that over steam $60 version.
Famitsu has gone up with its first online preview of Dynasty Warriors 9, providing the first direct-feed screenshots of the PlayStation 4 sequel.
Dynasty Warriors 9 uses an open-world format. Players will experience Musou action in world of Three Kingdoms era China that stretches from one end of the land to the other.
The game promises further evolved stages and action. The world of Three Kingdoms era China is represented by a single, vast map. Each area has its own climate and culture, making simply visiting its various places an enjoyable experience. Warlords will fight fierce battles in this open-world.
The December 2016-announced Dynasty Warriors 9 is a PlayStation 4 title, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.
The first open-world game in the Dynasty Warrior series, Dynasty Warriors 9 will of course feature actions that let players toss around large armies, as well as various other actions such as shooting at enemies from a distance and invading castles with a grappling hook. The mechanisms behind attack actions are being completely changed, and new characters and various “innovations” are also being added. One of the new warlords being added is Cheng Pu, whose weapon is a dual spear.
A release date for Dynasty Warriors 9 has yet to be announced.
Thanks, Famitsu.
Update 7:25 a.m.: New information has leaked from Weekly Famitsu.
The latest entry in the Dynasty Warriors series uses an open-world format. The continent of China of the Three Kingdoms period is represented by a single, vast map.
By making the game open-world, capture methods are also powered up. Since you can roam the map freely, you can even circumvent castles and attack from high places. There is also an extreme variety of attack methods that tests the power of the player’s conception. Can you infiltrate the castle without the enemy noticing and take out your target?
Long distance attacks using bows will return. Any character can use a bow to attack.
Time and weather change in real-time. The enemy’s field of vision is poor during the night or when it’s raining, making it harder to be discovered.
Here’s an overview of the game flow: among the missions that appear all over the map, there are also “main missions.” By clearing main missions, history will greatly advance forward, but these missions have a high degree of difficulty. By clearing missions associated with main missions, you can lower the degree of difficulty.
“State Combo” is a new system that lets players react in different ways depending on the situation. The combo starts with a trigger attack, follows up with a flow of consecutive attacks that change based on the state of the enemy, and ends with a strong finish attack.
“Interactive Actions” are actions that change depending on the surrounding terrain and objects. You can use grappling hooks to climb up high mountains and walls. Or you can unleash attacks that use certain things on the spot.
Development is currently 40 percent complete.
Thanks, Hachima Kikou.
Update 8:35 a.m.: Here are some tidbits from Weekly Famitsu’s interview with producer Akihiro Suzuki and director Jun Miyauchi.
The main flow of the game will follow the history of the Records of the Three Kingdoms, just like previous games.
Battles aren’t broken up into stages, but various battles that correspond to the era will occur all over the land, which you will participate in.
For example, if we’re talking about the Yellow Turban Rebellion, you can fight with the Yellow Turbans in a place where Zhang Jiao can be found. If you go to the south-east, you can hear gossip of Zhang Jiao and company. When you defeat Zhang Jiao, history will progress to the Campaign Against Dong Zhuo era, and whatever is occurring on the map at that time will change completely to match the new period.
Stories are being planned for each warlord, but since there are no branches that change history, the overall flow is the same.
The era and period that each warlord plays a role in are different. If you start with Zhao Yun, you can play the period in which he was active, but if you choose Wang Yuanji, you’ll play in an era set after the life of Zhao Yun.
The ability to switch between warlords is under consideration. Since the era changes so significantly depending on the characters you switch between, we would need to explain the background of the period. We’re currently looking for a solution.
It takes about five minutes to swim across the Yangtze River and Yellow River, since it’s a wide place. There are also ports that you can move to instantly.
Major cities such as Luoyang are smaller than they are in reality, but since one side is about one kilometer, it is an experience of considerable scale.
There are more than 10 cities. General-purpose cities and villages are also being prepared.
Movement is mainly by horse. Fast travel, which will allow you to instantly travel to places you have already visited, is also being prepared.
Urban areas will have buying and selling elements.
The warlords’ costumes are being updated. This time, we’re cutting back on the flashiness and aiming for something that more realistically matches that period.
There are various missions such as hunting wild animals with a bow and battles against different races with dedicated visuals.
Development seems to still have some way to go. I don’t think it will be released at least until it’s cold out.
Thanks, Hachima Kikou.

Bork, what are your thoughts on how DW9 sounds? Seems similar to allstars, right?
Dynasty Warriors 9 will have 4K resolution / 30 frames per second and 1080p resolution / 60 frames per second modes on PlayStation 4 Pro, director Atsushi Miyauchi revealed during an interview with Gamer.com.tw.
Here are a few more details from the interview (via Google Translate – Chinese is not our strong suit):
The PlayStation 4 version of Dynasty Warriors 8 was an improved port of the PlayStation 3 base version. But for Dynasty Warriors 9, the game is being developed for and tailored to PlayStation 4.
The game engine has been completely revamped and practically tailored to Dynasty Warriors 9. Some existing resources will be also used, but improved upon.
All 83 warlords that appeared up until Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends will appear in Dynasty Warriors 9. New warlords such as Cheng Pu and Zhou Cang will also appear, but they’re not announcing the number of new warlords being added. That number, however, does include new female characters. (Update: There will be over 90 playable characters, according to a separate interview.)
There are no plans to include online multiplayer elements. (Update: They’re unable to implement local co-op as well.) This includes asynchronous online elements such as those featured in Nioh and Toukiden.

The characters that appear are generally from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light and Fire Emblem Awakening, as well as Fire Emblem Fates. This won’t be a gathering of the protagonists from across the series.
Guess you missed my impressions on the import-- the game is brought down by performance issues and is kind of "shallow" even for a musou.Aw it kinds sucks huh. But I haven't rocked a mainlineish musou in a minute now. :-[
Am really hoping that the PC version turns out well and runs at a good, steady framerate.
I have 4-II but ain't really delved into the licensed games much, oh and Estival Versus which I've barely delved into. I remember the one Basara that got localized on the Wii/PS3, that shit was amazing and it's a goddamn shame it sold too poorly for them to bring any other entries over.
Warriors All-Stars actually runs GREAT on PC and is staying at a smooth 60 FPS on my setup. :o Amazing. Koei actually did a good PC port for once.Played a couple hours earlier, runs super great on my mid tier rig. :hyper
Avoid the console version; get this one!
Fire Emblem is out in Japan and it runs so well on Switch!
:lawd

Gaf is pretty harsh on the game. But I think a lot of that is the roster picks.
As someone who hasn't played an FE game since Gamecube, and isn't going to remember/recognize any of the cast, how is this one as a musou game?
Fwiw I prefer shorter stages (like Gundam Musou 3), large movelists, good combo flexibility, loot systems and flashyness.
Things I don't care about in musou - AI, story
73 on Metacritic. Take away the musou penalty and that's like a 93. :drool:heyman
I like good musou games but hate the focus on nu-fire emblem waifu bullshit casual ass fuckery, is it good if you aren't a post awakenings newcomer fanboy scum?
Season pass characters revealed
http://nintendoeverything.com/fire-emblem-warriors-dlc-characters-revealed-azura-tharja-more/
No Epharim, Roy or Ike. :fbm
Unless I'm missing something, handheld mode is locked at 30 FPS which is disappointing as I loved playing Hyrule Warriors 3DS in bed. :fbm
Otherwise it's a warriors game with a Fire Emblem skin which means I like it.
Better or worse than Hyrule Warriors or Dragon Quest?
I enjoyed Hyrule Warriors (of what I played) and enjoyed Dragon Quest Heroes a bunch (finished that game). Dragon Quest did a very good job of not making it "feel" like a Musou game.

So how do the Strong Attack weapon skills work? Strong Attack IV says "Increases Strong Attack IV damage". Does that mean Y,Y,Y,X does more damage?
Is the 3DS version servicable? I want to play this but I can't see myself getting a switch any time soon.
Tharja isn't in Warriors so I can't support it yet. DLC hopefully. (Not that I have a Switch yet, but hopefully sooner rather than later.)
Did anybody like Fate/Extella when that came out? It's already getting a sequel since it did so well stateside and in Japan. It had some interesting mechanics for a musou, like how power enemies could spawn randomly around the map even in already conquered zones...
Post impressions...am curious how it runs.
Has FEW crashed frequently for anyone else? I'm like ~20 hours I've had 4 crashes, one of which was when I was doing the final story chapter on lunatic. :maf

Yup; enjoyed it quite a bit overall, although the story dragged on way too much. Looking forward to the sequel.
FE Warriors arrived. It has permadeath mode? Hahaha that's amazing. In classic mode you have to pay to revive a dead unit. I haven't actually had any units die so I don't know how much it costs.
Initial impression from tutorial mission is that it runs great, it's a solid 30, with slight drops if it gets too crazy. Models are terrible, it's definitely not a looker, but it sure plays A-OK.
One thing that bugs me is it seems there's no way to turn on life bars for the standard mooks?
I haven't been impressed with a mainline Dynasty Warriors game since Dynasty Warriors 5. 7 was a pretty nice reboot but the mainline series hasn't been good for a while.
Dosukebe/Lyte, PS+ JP had Basara 4 & Sanada free this month. Which is better? I think the last Basara I played was 3? Should I skip 4 and jump into Sanada or play 4 because its better?
Fire Emblem Warriors is pretty great, better than Hyrule Warriors.kid icarus is the only other franchise that i can think of that'd work well
Would like to see what Nintendo franchise they use for the third game in the series.

4 is much better and feels like a complete game. Sanada is basically a story expansion pack for SB4 that they sold separately...it should have just been some DLC or something and felt unnecessary after SB4 Sumeragi got released. You get a few new characters but only play as the Sanadas and a little bit as Date. You also play as Date and Yukimura as kids. It's not bad or anything, but underwhelming compared to the insanity that is SB4. I guess they made this to cash in whatever thing was up with Sanada around this time, because Koei also made their own Sanada game and there was a TV drama.
Is that SB4 or SB4 Sumeragi that's free, BTW?
The problem is the basic movesets are extremely limited. You get like 2-3 moves for the first few maps and the combat is extremely shallow. I don't remember SB2/3 being that bad off the bat.

I don't really have the time to grind out levels for everyone just to get them to be fun to play, so the Sanada expansion where they are fun off the bat feels a lot better imo.

I played SB3 and it was exactly like that and made me laugh at any person telling me Basara was betting than Musou. I think Basara is :trash because of it.
I would pick up Fire Emblem but I can't recognize a single FE characters despite playing like 3-4 of the games (but that was 10-15 years ago). Looking forward to the next musou based on something I actually am a fan of. Berserk should have been, but didn't turn out that great.

Yes, there's progression and character leveling...like in all those RPGs you like to play. :dogeQuoteI don't really have the time to grind out levels for everyone just to get them to be fun to play, so the Sanada expansion where they are fun off the bat feels a lot better imo.
Did you even try using some of the other characters, like Naotora?
:cmonson
It doesn't take long at all to get more stuff, either.
Bizarro world here that you like the Sanada game better though. That's not gonna be a popular opinion among SB fans, heh.

Musou = More "serious" and more strategy-oriented
Basara = More comical/crazy and more like a traditional beat-em-up
Basara also tends to have characters that can greatly differ from each other in play style and an almost Mega Man-like gimmick going on on certain levels, where you have the boss character's personality influencing the stage design.
I bet if you tried SB4 and used Naotora, you'd really like her. Really gives off a fighting game vibe.
:idont
I wish i had the actual fucking version of this game from Japan and not the "lets up the difficulty and fuck your life over" version that came in the states. I could barely get past the third level with its unfair health differences and extra XP required to upgrade legions.
My ideal musou is Chaos Legion :shh
If WO3 Ultimate for the Switch comes out in the US, I will probably have to play it again. That would make it the fourth time I played the game (PS3, Wii U, PS4, Switch). WO3 is still my favorite Musou and for Ultimate, they added several more levels/chapters to the game. IMO it's worth playing again if you just played vanilla WO3 a few years ago.

This headline is a bit confusing since the article itself says 'sometime in 2019 at the earliest', but yeah. SW5 is coming, eventually.
Still playing Fire Emblem Warriors. Maxed out Rowan and Lianna. Beat Story Mode on lunatic and am halfway through History Mode. About 51 hours in. I'm going to try to catass it today and be done with it until the DLC comes out.
Just want to finish the game out before moving onto Mario.

Hopefully it doesn't suck like 4. But knowing modern musou I'm sure it will.
SW4 felt more Basara than Musou. :yeshrug
Idk, one of them!
Speaking of SW4, Spirit Of Sanada is $19.99 new on Amazon. Bought...will try it for that price.
Are you planning to get the DLC too?
This week’s issue of Famitsu had some new info on Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, including confirming the total roster of 29 characters, as well as confirming the inclusion of mid-battle character switching, which was introduced in Hyrule Warriors Legends. [Thanks, BlackKite on Twitter!]
The game will have all 29 characters from the base game and DLC of Hyrule Warriors Legends, as well as the characters’ various weapon playstyles. Definitive Edition also have features introduced in Legends, such as a now-fully-3D ‘My Fairy’ mode, and the popular character switching feature that was also present in last year’s Fire Emblem Warriors. However, the game does not have Fire Emblem Warriors’ pair-up mechanic.
Challenge Mode, where Ganon’s beast form was available to play as, was removed in Hyrule Warriors Legends, but is making a full return in this game.
Surprised to see that it is being released in English so quickly...I think it's less than a week after the Japanese version?Yeah, the 8th in Japan and then the 13th for the US/EU including PC. :rejoice HW DE sounds pretty damn hype, didn't know Legends was missing something from the original version, DE is on the list when/if we Switch it up.

Each of the 90 playable people have their own ending? There's definitely going to be some overlap in cinematics and such.
Jim is a genuine fan of the series so if he is down on it that's a bit worrisome. Giant Bomb have a 'quick look' of it up where they barely delve into the new mechanics and ponder how so many of these keep getting made. Again.

It's hard to argue with Giant Bomb saying that with how a lot of recent games have turned out. Fire Emblem Warriors is the best of the recent releases by far (can't comment on DW9 yet!).

Is fire emblem better than Zelda? I want to try a Musou, but not sure which one to start with.
How did you do the side steps between each juggles? Just realized you could do that from this video. This changes everything.
which specific ones? The air ones? With fire wheels accessory, you can jump cancel any frame of your attacks, so if you airdash cancel and attack immediately you can do extended air juggles.:gladbron :mynicca :whoo
He absolutely hates it and refers to it as "Dynasty Warriors Nein." :lolHe's so angry he's doing The Jimquisition on KT this Monday! :dead The slowdown he showed at the end of the impressions video on Pro is pretty ridiculous but that's DW for ya. This looks like a regression in some ways while being a new thing in some others. It's been a while since we've had a mainline DW game but the main team hasn't been working on this the entire time, they were on the Nintendo Warriors projects etc. Looks like it's a wait for a sale kind of game, I gave them the full entry price for All Stars expecting it to be the new Orochi (lol NOPE aside from it being a uber crossover game).
Saw DW9 took like a 50%+ hit in sales in Japan.:whoo
They should have just made Warriors Orochi 4 instead.
Has anyone given a shit about the mainline series in over a decade? The last mainline DW game I really liked was the fifth one and that was 13 years ago.
The PlayStation 4 version of Dynasty Warriors 9 launched at 117,495 first week sales in Japan and was the top selling new release last week, the latest Media Create sales reveal.
For comparison’s sake, Dynasty Warriors 8 for PlayStation 3 debuted at 203,224 sales, and Dynasty Warriors 7 for PlayStation 3 debuted at 253,090 sales.
Although Dynasty Warriors 9 was the top selling new release this week, it was still outsold by Monster Hunter: World for PlayStation 4, which moved an additional 159,613 units.
Why do these games still have performance issues? The graphics aren’t particularly impressive. Can’t they just use UE4?
Soooooo basically there's no point getting this if you only have a base PS4? Love SW4 and it was pretty solid on there.
Most devs makes patchs to fix issues, KOEI makes patchs to break and lock contents instead. now users cant enable chinese dubs even though the game data is all there, good job! Wish I could refund this game:rofl

GOAT musou confirmed
Nothing he says is actually wrong, musou is bad, viva musou. :-[
Eased the conditions for unlocking officers.
Eased conditions for sending letters from Hideaways.
Improved the movement of soldiers and officers during battle.
Adjusted the price of items.
Adjusted the positioning of clusters.
Added Watchtowers and Waymarks.
Adjusted the hit points of gates, weapons, and buildings.
Corrected an issue that occurred rarely in which parts of some models would break.
Corrected an issue in which unnatural weather occurrences would not revert to their original state.
Corrected an issue that occurred rarely in which floodgates could not be opened during chapter 4 – “Reclaim Xiapi.”
Corrected an issue concerning the display of some rivers.
Corrected a number of other minor issues.
The Japanese patch notes added more clarifications to some of the fixes mentioned above.
On the conditions for unlocking officers (playable characters), it specifies that clearing the tutorial will unlock officers from the respective kingdoms. This means clearing it as Liu Bei will instantly unlock Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Likewise, Cao Cao will unlock Xiahou Dun and Xiahou Yuan, and Sun Jian unlocks Huang Gai, Cheng Pu, and Han Dang.
On sending letters from Hideaways, this update patch will now enable the player to send letters to officers who are participating in battles as well.
On the positioning of clusters, this patch will now make them respawn each time the player enters a new chapter.
Also dumb- I got some alternate outfits for some of the characters for pre-ordering the game. Found out that they apparently cannot actually use these outfits when playing the game; you can only wear other clothes when inside the little villa-type houses you can buy and customize. WTF?lmao, that's so pointless.
Latest patch on PS4 fixed frame rate a little bit more, made some major QoL changes like the horse not bucking at zero stamina, officers and enemies move and attack more......A LOT more. I went into a base on PS4 and there was nearly 5 times more base and assault captains than before, counters work as intended now with enemies attacking more.
Overall we have had 3 patches since launch and it’s only got more and more on par to a standard warriors game. Honestly the stories and characters feel a but more fleshed out with how everything is told. Also battles are a bit more accurate due to map design.
Overall this is slowly turning into my favorite warriors game.
How does it run on the Switch in portable mode?
I actually will probably rebuy OPW3 again to have it in portable form. It's funny because I loved the game despite knowing absolutely nothing about OP going in.

I only have heard of one piece, that trailer makes it look like a really wild property.
Is warriors pro hi ultimate 3 (or something like that) any good? I just realized I own it on xbone.
Edit: this is another example of Japanese companies being pure garbage at naming their games. Like what the fuck is a warrior orochi ultimate 3?
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT

Update 05/08/18 at 11:39 p.m.: A few additional details have come in.
A PC version of Warriors Orochi 4 will also be released, albeit at a later date than the console versions in Japan.
Of the 170 playable characters in Warriors Orochi 4, five are new and have still yet to be revealed. The enemy this time is Zeus. The five new characters are likely to be chosen from the Twelve Olympians such as Athena and Poseidon.
The new “Divine Art Action” system adds new elements such as Divine Arts and Deification.
Collaboration characters such as Ryu Hayabusa will not appear in the game.
Update 05/09/18 at 12:35 a.m.: More details have come in.
Summary: The heroes who defeated Orochi returned to the places where they belong. All of their memories were lost. However, their worlds will once again come together. The eight bangles are the keys to return to their original worlds. And it appears that Zeus is behind it all. What is his purpose?
Equipping the sacred treasures enables the use of Divine Arts. These have various effects, such as attacks that round up several enemies.
One of the new stages is in the style of the Parthenon temple in Greece.
Collaboration characters will not appear in the game because the goal is to return to roots and greater depict the relationship between the Warring States and Sengoku periods.
Yoshitaka Murayama is supervising the game’s setting and story.
Orochi will be a key player this time. Orochi and True Orochi exist simultaneously. The details are still a secret.
Familiar controls, like Square + Square, and Square + Square + Triangle, will return.
By progressing through the “Deification” story, key characters will become available for use, and by meeting certain conditions during battle, their appearance and actiosn will power up.
The game uses a three person per group system.
Elements like Free Mode will be included.
Share multiplayer (likely meaning one Joy-Con per player) is still under consideration for the Switch version, mainly because there is a lack of buttons.
Warriors Orochi 4 is targeting a fall release in Japan. Development is currently 50 percent complete.

Costume DLC is generally for suckers, but I'll admit I'm probably going to do the WO4 Season Pass since it includes some more scenarios and those separately will end up costing about the same so may as well do the few bucks extra for some dumb outfits/mounts/etc. :doge
The biggest gripe I have is that when you have a low level character, it feels like the game is a slideshow. I'm playing it docked on the Switch which yeah I know it's going to be the inferior version but it seems like after you build your character level up high enough, the "slideshow" effect seemingly goes away.

Is WO4 legit?
how is WO3U better
Finished all of the DLC campaigns, unlocked everything for the camp upgrades, got Hundun (which was really easy thanks to Gan Ning's magic attacks), and am halfway through Chapter 3 for getting S ranks on all difficulty levels. I think once the next DLC campaign comes out, I will complete it and then move on. I have a large backlog. Switch gaming log shows that I've spent over 65 hours on this game. Sounds about right.
There was supposed to be some DLC to come out today and I didn't see it. Was anyone else able to download it on Switch? I was hoping to just catass the new stages and put this game to rest.

I have them- didn't see them on the DLC list but I have the season pass, downloaded a game update, and they popped up. Koei also added an additional challenge mode.

Playing the Fire Emblem Warriors game. My first 'Warriors' since that Ninety Nine Nights rip off from Xbox.
I'm enjoying it quite a bit but it feels like a game best played in short bursts. Otherwise it could get boring rather quickly.
Easy mode to see what the game has to offer at its lowest. Turning on normal today.
All this game needs is the officer entrance/death/retreat movies from old SW. I really can’t wait to start playing it again!
So this is interesting- just booted Dynasty Warriors 8XL (Switch) up and it started giving me bonus gold for having other musou game save data. One of the messages said "Save data for WARRIORS OROCHI 3: Ultimate has been detected." Interesting since this game has not been localized on Switch.Switch sold a fuck ton this holiday. Already outsold base PS4+Slim in Japan.
Very well could mean nothing, but that's the first time I can remember the U.S. version of a Koei Switch game detecting the sava data for a Japanese game and listing its name in English like that. Koei's games are not the same in each region (they have different languages/don't share the same region DLC) like some other releases are, too.
It also says you can get more data if you have a save for DW8 Empires and Spirit Of Sanada. Two more games only available in Japan. Hmm...
:thinking
That looks super cool. I wish I could get into Basara.
Koei Tecmo Steam sale this weekend if there's anything you've missed and want for semi cheap. :doge
Still $92.99.
Not really the correct thread but does anyone has some feedback on Nobunaga : Sphere of Influence. I kinda want something to scratch my strategy sore patch but I only have the PS3.
I read a couple reviews and listened to the 3MA podcast but I'm still a bit fuzzy on it.
Was curious about Romance of the 3 kingdoms but apparently the PS store has nothing for the PS3 there (in English)...

While the listing has since been removed, the product description mentioned new playable character Gaia and the return of earlier playable characters such as Joan of Arc (who was last playable in Warriors Orochi 3). It also mentioned other additions including a new story, new side scenarios, new modes, and new actions.
An official announcement is planned for August 29. While the Amazon Japan listing was only for the PlayStation 4 version, like the original Warriors Orochi 4 before it, Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is likely due out for Xbox One, Switch, and PC as well.
Following the reveal of Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate on PS4, more info has surfaced from this week’s Famitsu, where Koei Tecmo confirmed that it is also coming to Switch and PC in Japan. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]
The game is set to release in Japan this December for both PS4 and Switch versions, while the PC version is expected to release in February. It is priced at 7,800 yen. Those with the original Warriors Orochi 4 will get to purchase the Upgrade Pack as a download for 4,800 yen.
In Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate we’ll see over 170 characters from previous titles. Tomohiko Sho is the producer of the game. He previously worked as the lead planner of Dynasty Warriors 3 to Dynasty Warriors 6. He then worked as the director of Dragon Quest Heroes and development producer for Dragon Quest Builders 2. He says that he’s looking to use the experience from having worked with Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii for the development.
As for new characters, the first is a brand-new character named Gaia. She fights using a Hecatoncheires, basically a giant with multiple arms. She’s a favorite of the producer, and is said to be even more powerful than Zeus.
The other confirmed character is Joan of Arc (Yumi Touma) who debuted in Bladestorm. She is said to have been added as a way to please fans from the West.
New Sacred Treasures will be featured in the game as well as a new type of cooperative move called “Musou Switch Combo” that brings out continuous Musou Attacks from three characters, plus more experience points gained when used.
In addition to more for its story and characters, the overall feel and playability has been improved as well as the UI. There are new side stories consisting of stories that didn’t make it into the original game. Players will also get to switch Sacred Treasures.
There are also new modes such as Challenge Mode that supports rankings and Infinite Mode that will let you party with three people to aim for records.
There will be some sort of save data bonus, but more information will be shared later. Koei Tecmo aren’t thinking about DLC other than first-print and retailer bonuses, as they want to make it a game you can properly enjoy on its own.
Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate releases for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan in December 2019. The PC version releases in February 2020. While an Xbox One version wasn’t announced for Japan it’ll likely be announced for the West.

Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force have released the second official trailer for Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate.
The updated release adds all-new characters Gaia, Hades, and Yang Jian, as well as returning characters Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden, Joan of Arc from Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War, and Achilles from Warriors: Legends of Troy. This is in addition to new scenarios, game modes, and side activities.
Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is due out for PlayStation 4 and Switch on December 19 in Japan, and for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on February 14, 2020 in North America and Europe.
It's Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate , but the video says it's Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate? :whatisthis
How does 4 ultimate compare to 3
in its first week on store shelves, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 has sold 137,569 units at retail. Namco chose to release the game on both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and it’s the Switch version that helped prevent an even steeper decline. While the PS4 version of Pirate Warriors 4 sold 75,998 units, the Switch version was close behind at 61,571 units sold, accounting for 48% of total sales. It makes for the highest debut Pirate Warriors has seen on a portable platform, outselling the PlayStation Vita versions of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 and Pirate Warriors 3.
In essence, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4’s lower sales come from the PlayStation 4 version, which is having trouble keeping up with the home console versions of the prior games.
If I have no experience with the anime, will I enjoy One Piece Pirate Warriors 4?
Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate was very weak coming off of a streak of excellent Musou titles. I’m hoping that was just a one off.
4 Ultimate really rubbed me the wrong way. The last time I was disappointed in a Musou title that much was Strikeforce.
I'd say give us an Orochi Empires so we can be everyone at once but considering how they did with the last mainline game of that series...eh. At least this means they are moving on from trying to make DW9 be considered good and towards making something decent from the ground up.
If you don't care about either IP, which is a better musou game? FE or Zelda?
Can anyone who got a ps5 pop in DW8 and tell me if it runs better than on a ps4 pro?
I'm very curious about this and no place is going to do that test on their own.
I feel like that 50-60 fps on pro is a lie. I'm going to have to try it again to make sure I'm not bonkers, but I could have sworn it was regularly sub 40 even on pro.
Yikes, I have the demo, guess I better make sure it works with my wireless sx pad before throwing 60 at it! :lol Hearing about that kind of blows, I wanted to play it on steam with a friend.
No cloud save support on Steam in 2021 is crazy. These Koei Tecmo ports are such a mixed bag for PC.
It has full controller support though!
You can alt tab out to adjust volume, which is definitely weird, but workable. Trial also has no quit button, so alt +f4 seems to be the preferred method to close, even has a dialog prompt.
The info box on steam SAYS it supports steam cloud btw.
ugh apparently this has dw7-8 style weapon switching?

No,doesn't look like it- but you can equip any character with any weapon. Everyone has a preferred weapon that will work best and offer more abilities, IIRC.
Finally getting around to playing SW5 on Switch. I like it. Each new SW game feels very distinctive from the previous and this is no exception.
Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on February 25, 2022 in North America and Europe, publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force announced. The PlayStation 5 version will be a digital-only release, but users who purchase the physical PlayStation 4 version will receive a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version.

Which one of DW was an open world that people really didn't feel worked well ? 8 or 9 ?
I bought DW9 Empires on Switch day one but haven’t taken it out of the box yet 😬

lol wut

I finally finished SW5 on Switch :lol
I really liked this one and thought it was very well done. The downside is that some missions require using scrub characters you’ll never want to play again but most of the main characters are fun to play with. I’ve always liked the effort put into the SW games and think it’s a great entry to the series.
Finished all three houses, 124 hours. Each house was just different enough. I wound up getting 324 achievements out of 450. It’s not my favorite Musou but I like it quite a bit.

How's the story if you liked Three Houses?

I just got a few pockets of free time again and playing SW5. This is a great game.

I decided to start playing DW9E out of curiosity and wow, it is garbage. PS2-era visuals, awkward controls, and the gameplay itself sucks too. Some of the character models are creepy looking too :lol
I’m done with this game. The problem I have with it now is that I lose a province almost immediately after gaining one. When I had to reconquer this province for the sixth time (I verified), that was it. I’ve played DW Empires games before and this was by far the most frustrating to play. Even the game’s translations are as sloppy as the rest of the game. bork warned me but I had to experience it for myself.
Because I must hate myself, I kept playing and finally beat the game. I got lucky: I was able to get out of the cycle of one territory lost and one territory gained by having someone join me as an ally and one year where nobody successfully took over a territory. So that was enough momentum to capture the remaining couple of territories and that was that. I wound up getting married and having a baby. I will never play this game again, it reminds me of that DW6/Strikeforce era of DW where they half assed everything. The upside is after that we got the very excellent DW7 and Warriors Orochi 3 so here’s hoping DW10 is similar.
Ordered DW5 for PS2.
I'd rather get Hyrule Warriors (which I haven't played yet despite being a big Zelda fan) or Fire Emblem Warriors (a franchise I don't care much about) than DW10.
My bad- I had a Japanese 360 and didn't realize it never got localized. It does look like there's a patched English version floating around to use on modded systems at least.
There's a number of ports like this they never released in English, for whatever reason, particularly on PS3, PSP, and Vita. Samurai Warriors 2 got a nice HD port to PS3 and Vita which contains 2, XL, and Empires all together. Samurai Warriors 3Z on PS3 was a lot better than the Wii version (although that one can possibly be explained by Nintendo having some kind of exclusive on it on Wii) and then there's Warriors Orochi Z on PS3, which contains HD ports of WO1 and WO2 with some new content, to name a few.
The Switch also got several releases that were never localized. I have the Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate and Samurai Warriors 4 DX ports and they are really, really awesome -all the DLC was included and they run GREAT- still wish they got English versions, but at least WO3U finally hit Steam and works on the Deck.
It's so weird how SW3 was just left to the ether. Fuck the Wii. I saw videos of the Wii version of SW3 and it legit looks unplayable.

I played through it back then and it was fine- how it runs now I shudder to think, although maybe emulation fixes that too?
:thinking

It looks so slow. I don't understand how.
Thanks for correcting me, I swore it was an Asian version of DW5 Special with English text. It must have been Japanese then. I did play the PS2 version first and then I got it on the 360 so maybe my aging mind has conflated the two lol.
I’m playing One Piece Warriors 4. It’s fun even though I know nothing about One Piece. The world isn’t really captivating to me either to learn more, unlike the Gundam Warriors games. I’d love to play another one of those. The third Gundam Warriors game was fantastic.
How's DW All-Stars? I signed up for PS Extra and I saw it's on the list and wonder if it's worth a download or if it's a shitty musou.

I wound up finishing the story in about 16 hours. I’m going through to S rank all the levels in the main story and treasure modes. A pretty solid Musou title. Unfortunately I don’t really connect with the One Piece lore like I did the other licensed games. Not sure why but oh well, I’m still having fun with this game.
I’ve been playing Warriors All Stars and it’s very middling. Feels like Omega Force puts in much more of an effort with the licensed games than the original games. Maybe Square Enix, Nintendo, et. al hold them accountable and thus produce better Musou games than when they’re on their own.
I beat All Stars with 70 hours on the clock but a few of those hours were me taking a nap or walking my dog.
The game grew on me but the sparse number of stages was tiresome, the gameplay was way too simple for a 2017-era Musou, and the furries were disturbing. I might need to take a break from Musou games for a while :lol
So I saw PS+ now has DW9 and SW5 on it.
Either of these ones good for musou?

SW5 is good.
I downloaded DW9 too for PS Plus and some of the ideas seemed nice but the execution is just bad. The PS2 era assets are mindblowing to me and there is a mode to cap it at 30 fps :lol Still looked much better than the switch version of DW9 Empires which was just awful. I’m playing this game out of sheer morbid curiosity. I played DW Strikeforce, which is the worst DW game I’ve ever played on a console; my tolerance for shit tier Musou has always been high but DW9 and DW9 Empires is really testing me :lol
DW9 has hooked me for the weekend :lol
This game is not good but I spent 20 hours this weekend on it. My hands are sore from the PS5 controller.
I finished the game and got almost all the trophies. Spent 85 hours on the game, racked up 130,000 KOs and checked out all the landmarks. I’m not going to lie, the game really grew on me and really wound up digging a lot of the concepts in the game, even though there were major flaws.
Bandainamco be like "why make One Piece Warriors 5 when we can just keep making DLC forever"
announces 3 new DLC packs coming.
One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 is also getting new DLC BTW.:bolo
I didn't play Spirit Of Sanada, but read it was kinda bad.
I played through WO4 and WO4U on Switch. Definitely doesn't run the best but I still enjoyed it a lot. The WO3U port is so much better, but now it doesn't matter since it's on Steam and that's the best version for sure.
Hmmm, I never played 4 because it was an original story instead of recreating the manga storylines like 1-3. Plus I think they removed characters from 2/3.
Maybe I should grab it when it's on sale.
WO3U is still the best Musou in my opinion.
Actually still $13.49 for the deluxe edition. Picked it up!
Played a bit of this. Combat is...pretty different than the old ones. It moves really fast, which is kind of cool but also makes the camera more of a headache for bosses.
Not sure about this shield armor thing. Don't quite understand it. Says you basically need to get behind an enemy when they attack to do shield damage or something but hard to keep track of positioning given the speed.
Everyone seems really strong off the start.
Did the map not shoe that a territory was being swarmed? What about NPCs asking for help?
I’m sure some Musou games are being worked on.
I played Spirit of Sanada a bit and it’s okay. The Musou gameplay itself is pretty mediocre and the additional single player items are just basic things you’d see on many other Musou games like WO3U and All Stars. The strategem addition, which is providing assistance to other officers during a battle to help meet objectives, is not particularly impressive. This has a mid-to-low tier Musou feel to it, like bork said earlier. I’ll keep playing and see if there’s potential. If I can get something out of DW9, I probably can here :lol
but I heard some good things about it so I figured I’d check out the Musou title.
I S-ranked everything in Samurai Warriors 5. The PS4 version was a lot better looking and performing than the Switch version, at least to me. This is a really good Musou, better than I thought the first time I played this game on the switch.
I think the only Musou title I got in the queue is Persona 5 Strikers. I believe I beat all the PS4 and Switch titles except Arslan which sounds like it’s trash.
