Man I hope not.  Rondo doesn't deserve a starting gig anymore.  If he does end up in LA, he should be used in the deal to acquire Cousins and send Rondo to the Kings just to make Bill Simmons Rondo-to-Kings timeline come true.  That way Lakers could maybe keep Randle.

I guess the rumor is it's Orlando/Lakers/Kings with The lakers #1 and Randle going to Orlando, Vucevic and Magic's #1 going to Kings/Cousins to Lakers  with some extra parts here and there.
YMMV

THe Iverson doc on HBO(?) was pretty good. I forgot how much shit he went through and put on himself.

It's on Netflix too. I agree he went through a lot of racial bullshit but he also did bring some on himself (slamming a chair on a dude in a bowling alley is a bad look)

I love how, he is so concerned with other teams in the league and the "beauty" of the game. The last few years of cranky old Grandpa phil will be amazing.

I don't really see a problem with what he said. It's not very fun to watch and he said its prevalent, but didn't say it was dominating the game. He was just musin and wondered aloud how far that  style of game will go.

The trend is definitely away from that style of basketball he describes which is iso-centric basketball. The most successful teams in recent years including the last few champs don't actually play that way. Spurs basketball is the buzzword around the league even if the mass of teams aren't successfully replicating it. Even the heat didn't play the way the Cavaliers did this year as Lebron's usage rate increased. There are lots of reason to argue against the Cavs play style. I did all year. But the playoff run style was basically forced necessity due to injuries so his criticisms there are a bit odd too.

I would argue basketball looks better in recent years than it has for the last 10 years prior. I would also argue that his run with the Lakers wasn't a return to some beautiful fabled basketball of yore.

But like I said, we'll see what type of team, he is able to bring together and the beautiful style they put out.

Yeah, he's just wrong.  The league isn't appreciably more individual-oriented than it was 10 or 20 years ago.  It's old man yells at cloud stuff.

"The game actually has some beauty to it, and we've kind of taken some of that out of it to make it individualized," Jackson told Bleacher Report. "It's a lot of who we are as a country, individualized stuff.

So Karl and DMC haven't spoken to each other since April, Ranadive and Divac have sat on their hands for the past 2 months and DMC's camp just leaked trade talk rumors 2 days before the draft, which the kings FO has staunchly denied.

Rumor is:
 Lakers - Boogie/6th
 Kings - Randle/Vucevic/5th
 Magic - 2nd

Karl also threw out a deal to send Cousins to Denver for Lawson and Faried (lol). Sacramento has the option of a) firing Karl, which they should do anyway, or b) exchange probably the best center in the league over the next 5 years for spare parts. Rondo and the Kings have mutual interest in a one year deal; they're also looking to move Gay.

It's really weird to see people seemingly completely forget the Jordan years - even the guy who coached Jordan. And it's even weirder how many of these lapses of memory often seem to creep up when talking about James. Just a couple weeks ago it was about how Jordan would never say he's the greatest player in the world, wasn't a dramatic show off, blah blah blah. Seriously?

So the Magic trade Vucevic to move up 3 spots? They must be extremely high on Okafor.

Nah you didn't pay attention to the end of the season where we saw Vucevic's ceiling. He's not going to be what you think he is.

Why would the Magic trade Vucevic for a guy whose upside is Vucevic?

I dunno, Jahlil's upside is better than being able to put up 19/10 on a garbage team by the time he's 24 imo
Nah you didn't pay attention to the end of the season where we saw Vucevic's ceiling. He's not going to be what you think he is.
I'm checking the game logs, last 10 games of the season he averaged 18.8/10/3 on 51% shooting, the last 25, 19/10.5/2 on 50% sohh...

I def think his scoring numbers are inflated given his team is trash but he's clearly a worthwhile piece and has value in the trade market

Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive has considered firing George Karl, who was hired as coach four months ago to help turn around the struggling franchise.

Ranadive's displeasure with Karl stems from the coach's desire to trade All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The Hornets acquired wing Nicolas Batum from the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night in exchange for guard Gerald Henderson and power forward Noah Vonleh.

Quote
The Memphis Grizzlies have acquired forward Matt Barnes from the Charlotte Hornets for guard Luke Ridnour, who later was traded to Oklahoma City.

The Grizzlies intend to keep Barnes, sources said. Only $1 million of Barnes' $3.5 million salary is guaranteed if he's waived before Wednesday, but Memphis wants Barnes for perimeter depth.

Ridnour didn't stay in Charlotte long, as the Hornets traded him and a conditional 2016 second-round draft pick Thursday to the Thunder for guard Jeremy Lamb. That deal comes just a day after Ridnour was traded by the Orlando Magic to the Grizzlies.

Ridnour got traded three times in a day. :lol

Quote
Ridnour was drafted by the SuperSonics in 2003 and is the first Sonics player to return to the Thunder since they moved from Seattle to Oklahoma City in 2008

I like the tradition of Jay Bilas pretending that every college player is going to be a super valuable role player for their team and not, you know, spend half their career in the D-League.

He usually keeps this up deep into the second round.

he handles the pick and roll just fine, it's not like hell be running an offense

He's got a good shot from the corner, big as shit, drives into contact and plays physically. Yeah Detroit should've taken winslow but Stanley will do just fine under SVG
