swing state incumbent being absolutely hung out to dry by his leadership

You know who is gonna be high on the "fuck you" list all year? Stacy Abrams and Beto. If they had done the logical thing, ie run for senate, they'd be leading or in contention right now, and we'd be looking at closer to 55-56 seats than 53-54.

For the life of me I can't understand what Abrams is doing. Whether Biden wins or loses, she's gonna be relegated to MSNBC appearances and a lackluster book tour. I of course am assuming there's no way in hell she gets VP.
Probably still in play for a cabinet level post. Maybe secretary of something or Chief of Staff or whatever.

Yeah, a black state congresswoman from Atlanta? I hope she likes being secretary of housing and urban development. A real Kickstarter for your future Presidential run. Just ask whichever Castro brother Obama hid there for 4 years

Democrats go out of their way to propose and support specific proposals for all types of groups, especially Hispanics. You don't really see them throwing on sombreros and talking about Selena when they're reaching out to them. Yet with black people it's time to dance and start saying "ain't" like slayren. I'm voting for Biden. I have zero qualms with him, in part because my main interest is winning. But let's be real: black people literally saved his campaign from collapse, and while I'm sure he'll dole out money to HBCUs if he becomes president...we aren't going to see any real tangible effort to support black interests or businesses. Everyone else gets courted, yet with black people it's just an expectation you vote the right way.

That's not to say democrats never do anything for black people. But a lot of the heavy lifting is done on the state and local level, especially in the south. Killer Mike tried to explain this to Bernie stans to no avail, but local democrats and orgs do a lot of civil rights work down there and deserve recognition. But on the national level? It's moreso...preventing worse shit from happening. IE defending the CRA, defending the VRA, nominating some decent judges here or there, etc. And lets not forget the ACA greatly helped a loooot of black people. I don't want to say nothing good is done but man. More could and SHOULD be done, given the level to which black people vote for these dudes. VS bending over backwards to appease a demographic that's a few years away from assimilation into whiteness, and already well versed in anti-black racism.

Hey man/jack. I respect struggles and generally believe in solidarity. But this bothers me, a lot. And I say that as someone who will probably have a Hispanic wife+in laws in a year or two. It feels like the aesthetic of blackness is more valuable than actual black people, at least when it comes to political interests.

With respect to Hillary I never had an issue with the hot sauce thing, having known that she legitimately likes hot sauce. Not to mention she lived in Arkansas for years. No issues there from me. And frankly Hillary's 2016 platform on black issues wasn't bad.

There was an entire war on latinos declared five years ago and it resulted in over a year's worth of news coverage of quasi-internment camps, culminating in the longest government shutdown in American history. Also, the abject dereliction of Puerto Rico during a natural catastrophe. They're not "a few years away from being assimilated into whiteness", they're a brutalized minority living through an intensifying race war.

Anyway I wasn't really calling you racist, just ribbing you a little for a tasteless comment. :P

Chris Wallace embarrassing himself again just to please his lieberal friends:

Quote
“I’ve done some deep dive into it, there really is no record of massive fraud or even serious fraud from mail-in voting,” the Fox News anchor said on America’s Newsroom. “It’s being carried out in Republican states, it’s being carried out in Democratic states, there is no indication that mail-in voting as opposed to in person voting tends to favor one party over another.”

After explaining that the practice of mailing in votes may even tend to favor Republicans since elderly voters have historically voted most often by mail, Wallace also mentioned that the most famous case of fraudulent “ballot harvesting” involved a Republican in North Carolina.

“But when people get their ballots and mail them in themselves, no history of fraud at all,” Wallace added.

America’s Newsroom anchor Ed Henry, meanwhile, brought up Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s concerns about mail-in voting, bringing up the Republican official’s hypothetical situation about mail and “Amazon packages” being swiped from front porches.

“If I am in the election office in Washington, D.C., and I am mailing a voting ballot, how do we know that you’ve actually received that and someone else didn’t swipe it and then send it in?” Henry wondered aloud.

“What he saying is you can’t trust the U.S. mail,” Wallace reacted. “I don’t know, that strikes me as kind of a reach here, and the history is that mail-in ballots are honest, and there was very little indication of fraud.”

I turned to a random page

Quote
Unfortunately, my hectic schedule as a lecturer, flaneur, and thought-leader  had  made  it  impossible  for  me  to  devote  the  same amount of time to Current Affairs as I once had. Because I am integral to the operation, and a ship does not know what to  do  without  a  captain  on  it,  this  was  having  somewhat  seri-ous  consequences.  Office  culture  was  degenerating  into  the  bad kind of anarchy, and people frequently wore swimsuits to work. Pages were printed upside-down, or with penises drawn on them. There were typos galore, including ones that techni-cally constituted libel and therefore cost the company millions. My people needed me, and I had wandered off into the prover-bial editorial desert.

Pensions, which soon would have swallowed 20 percent of state revenue, were threatening to starve social services — including the Providence Public Library, where Raimondo’s grandfather, who, arriving from Italy at 14 with little education and less English, studied to improve his chances. As state treasurer, she told “crowded, angry union halls” that cities and towns might go bankrupt and that promised pensions would disappear. Her reforms — pausing cost-of-living increases, raising the retirement age and the ratio of defined-contribution to defined-benefit plans — passed Rhode Island’s House 57 to 15 and the Senate 35 to 2.
Quote
Raimondo has cut taxes every year and removed 8,000 pages of regulations — 30 percent of the state’s regulations.
Quote
Joe Biden’s choice of a running mate will matter to the electorate’s large moderate majority more than such choices usually do, for two reasons. Biden will be 78 on Jan. 20, 2021. And his choice will indicate whether the trajectory of the world’s oldest party will be determined by its left-wing minority that strenuously opposed his nomination, or by the party’s temperate majority, which produced the Democrats’ 2018 success.

The Democratic left, with its addiction to indignation and its aversion to practical politics, might recoil from Raimondo because she understands the enormous financial sector of a nation now chin-deep in red ink. And because she had the impertinence to persuade crucial Democratic constituencies — public employees unions, including those of teachers — to support difficult choices. After defeating a left-wing primary challenger by 24 points, she was resoundingly reelected in one of the nation’s bluest states, and then became chair of the Democratic Governors Association.

A Biden-Raimondo ticket would achieve the left’s primary goal, the removal of President Trump. And the resulting administration would restore adult supervision in Washington.
