Goddamn Sherlock up inside me

Edit: Afraid I'll have to join the chorus on not getting Downton Abbey. I liked the pilot well enough but don't understand where the proselytizing comes from.

I'm sure if I gave it some more time I might enjoy it, but... honestly it didn't grab me at all.

Disagreed. It has great acting, well-written drama, character development, etc.

It's what The Walking Dead wishes it could be.

I've never thought of this connection, interesting. You're 100% right, it's trashy yet a damn solid show. There is some hammy acting here and there but overall the acting is good, the writing is good, etc. I like how each episode builds upon the last until it reaches a giant climax, all without having too-fast or too-slow pacing. Walking Dead is unable to pull that off, and many episodes just feel aimless or repetitive.

You are seeing the light! And it is glorious. Maybe things will turn around for TWD when it returns. I'm not holding my breath, however.

I still found TWD to be decent but there's no question it has major problems and could be so much better. The second season was largely focused on ONE arc that was beyond stupid, and felt irrelevant

I'm looking forward to S2 obviously but I think (spoiler alert:)

spoiler (click to show/hide)
the lack of Batiatus is going to really hurt the season; he was the heart of the series imo. Also the weakest ep of the show was the pilot, where the focus was on large scale war instead of the ludus/gladiators. I'm kind of worried about a full season of rebellion/war, and how they'll balance that with the political intrigue that made the first season and prequel so interesting.

I've been watching the 8th season of The Office.  You can tell they're definitely reaching for ideas now but most haven't hit the godawful territory yet.  It's not great, but it's not terrible.  They don't tend to rub Jim and Pam's relationship in your face anymore so at least they're off that.

Show starts with the disappearance of some inmates on Alcatraz. Forward 30+ years it skips to a girl detective with epic boobs chasing after a bad guy. Bad guy kills her partner by kicking him off a ledge, epic boobs girl gets involved, cue cliffhanger hilarity. Cuts to epic boob girl daydreaming in her boss' office, she was having a flashback. During a tourist trip to Alcatraz a young girl finds a dude sleeping on the floor in a staff only closed off section, guy gets kicked out. Guy is actually a prisoner from 30 years ago who hasn't aged. Prisoner goes off to do some killing (first the warden that tortured him then a planned crime "they" obviously told him to do.) Epic boob girl gets warden case, warden case gets handed over to secret FBI guy in the know about these ageless prisoners. The old cliche holds and FBI guy teams up with/scouted epic boob girl and lets her in on the secret. Prisoner gets captured, episode ends with him in a new jail. Oh and somewhere in between unmemorable scenes with useless Hurley from Lost being an expert on Alcatraz (who could easily be replaced by google) flapping his gums
[close]

Thats part one

spoiler (click to show/hide)
part two you find out that the bad guy that killed her partner was actually her grandfather whom she never knew was a prisoner lalz. Bad guy is some generic rifleman sniper killer. also gets caught and put in special prison

All three episodes of Black Mirror were great.

The first one is great simply for going back through the show and pausing to look at the comments on the twitter and Youtube pages.

The third episode was amazing the idea of such a gadget and what it would mean to relationships of all stripes was fascinating someone just picking over every detail of a conversation over and over again, a stolen glance or weird look.

Watched Homeland in a one day sitting with my GF. Good show didn't like that they chickened out in the end though will be nevertheless interesting to see where they go with a second season.

And yesterday i just started watching Party Down two episodes in and i'm enjoying it.

The weirdest thing about USA shows and their midseason breaks is that there's literally no way to watch the first half of the season (excluding piracy).  I've been spoiled by Netflix, Hulu, and Ondemand.  If it's not on those, I'll just do something else.  Like watch 10 minutes of the Archer pilot (pretty funny)! I watched the first couple episodes of the US one and it seemed alright although I know they had to wrap it up quickly once it got cancelled. I like the British version also of course but honestly behind the initial great premise I always thought the show was a little over-rated. But worth watching.

Apparently that last Driver game essentially steals some of the plot which kinda makes me want to play it.
