i have so many shows i still need to watch: curb season four and beyond, luther, flight of the conchords, spaced, the wire (haven't finished season 1 yet), mad men and the killing. i'm not sure if i'm ever going to bother finishing season 1 of the killing, though, because it's supposed to get really bad towards the end.

I've only seen the first two episodes of the BBC's "Being Human," but I liked it.

I'm in the middle of the first episode of the US version. It's got Sam Witwer, whom I liked a lot in SW:TFU as Starkiller, and who does a decent job as a vampire here. The werewolf guy is quite good though. But all in all it doesn't seem to stack up well against the BBC version.

Finished Battlestar Galactica. For the wee wee wah wah-ing I've heard about this ending, I really really enjoyed it. One of the best shows.

I'm not a hater of it like some people but I was disappointed in not only the finale but the approach to some of the last season. I really think it should have been planned a bit better rather than written at the moment.

HBO Go had two Louis CK comedy specials I haven't seen (at least complete) and wow, the leap from 1996 to 2005 is gigantic.  The 1996 one where he's wearing a sports jacket and has hair and no beard and it's just not good.  The style of comedy is so different his 2000s stuff.

I remember watching his Comedy Central Presents from like 1998 along with Greg Giraldo's from the same year. It was amazing how much better Giraldo was. Now Louie is the biggest standup on earth and Giraldo is dead.

I like that in 1996, he's optimistic about moving in with a girlfriend.  In 2005, he opens with bitterness towards marriage, his wife and daughter.  His soul was crushed for our amusement.

It's a pretty unique format.  Louis CK does intermittent bits of stand-up, followed by related anecdotal "skits" of things that have supposedly happened in his life that range from the poignant and relevant to absolutely absurd.

I don't think "meanspirited" is quite the right term, but it does waver from hilarious to "I don't give a shit if you are enjoying this or not" pretty widely. Highly recomnended though.

Louie is probably one of the most brilliant scripted comedy show I've ever seen. The combination of comedy and painfully awkward and brutal honesty is something to be had.

lucky louie is like a regular Everybody Loves Raymond or whatever sitcom with laugh tracks (or audience, whatever) and small sets.  I thought it wasn't good, and I think Pootie Tang is great (directed by Louis CK).

but yes, watch the stand ups.

The Killing went from being one of the best new shows to terrible in a hurry.

I've heard some folks compare Children's Hospital to Scrubs, I'll have to check it out

but yea, The Killing had about 4 awesome episodes then nose dived. People should watch it just so I have folks to talk to about the finale.

Children's Hospital has the same "we watch too much television" vibe that Community does, but it does it much better than Community ever could.

between Children's Hospital, Party Down and Parks & Rec, the lady and I are convinced there's only, like, five comedians on all of television

eh, having not read the comics I thought Walking Dead was a lot of fun.  Very, very budget and maybe 2 of the initial 6 eps sucked, but there were some good eps like the stand off at the nursing home.  The main lead is great, and it's not like there's much competition for zombie television shows.

Then again I like zombies.  I like most Zombie movies unless they really suck, I like World War Z, I like Dead Rising; so a TV show about zombie apocalypse is pretty much right up my alley and I can enjoy it even if it's no Game of Thrones.

Quote
AVC: It also seems like you now have the power to say no to things you don’t want to do. I read that you turned down increasing the budget of the show because you’d have to sacrifice some level of creative control.

LCK: That’s exactly right. The show exists in a perfect pocket right now. We were supposed to be on at 10 p.m. this year, and they went to the ad sales people, and it’s a lot more expensive to buy an ad at 10 p.m. and so that’s the other place that’s changed on the show. That’s how we get more money, to go on earlier and sell ads for more. But none of those people want to buy ads on the show, and so the show would have to change.

I haven't read Walking Dead so my perspective is that of a non-reader/nub: I liked the show. Even people who hated it tend to agree the pilot was amazing, but I also think the following episodes weren't bad either. The final few started to veer into bad Lost-esque character melodrama shit, but the overall suspense was good enough to keep me entertained.

That scene with the sisters fishing might be worst than Lost's ending though
