Vengeance started out a bit too ridiculous/fast, but got better as all the pieces were placed on the board. Especially once

On a side note I can't help but look at Viva Bianca and think she would have made a far better Cersei Lannister than Lena Headey, who has pretty much been the only disastrous casting in Game Of Thrones. She's a good actress, better than Bianca, but her take on the role is all wrong and I'm not sure if it's her style or the producers/writers decision, but she has the same sour face in every scene. She isn't the paranoid seductress seen in the novels, she's just some woman with a stink face. I'm so bummed

I think the third episode is the best one though it has the weakest ending

it's not a bad ending, it's just not as strong as the other two.

watched all three eps. i agree with this assessment.

Alright, finished Dollhouse.  That got reaaaaally anime by the end with all the random deaths and melodrama.  Pretty enjoyable show, some of the twists and turns were iffy but it was entertaining and the cast was really good.  Shame it was so slow at the beginning.

I watched the first episode of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret or whatever the name is.  It had a couple LOL moments but most of it was "hey that's funny" instead of actually laughing.  Does it get better?  Is it worth continuing?

It's also one of those shows where you want to cover your eyes and you cringe because it's so awkward

Fringe was fantastic this week, Todd Margaret/Portlandia were good.

My roommates decided to start watching Star Trek TOS and I, having no experience with the franchise outside of the JJ reboot, decided to join in. We'll see how that goes, starting tonight.

Archer reminds me a lot of old skool Adult Swim, which trips a nostalgic trigger for me back when we'd watch that shit in college.  I know Adam Reed was a part of Sealab 2021 but at the same time, it's still fresh and amazing.

Probably the best animated prime time show there is because it sure as hell isn't Seth MacFarlane's Animation Saturation.

I'll check that out.  I tend to love akward UK shows (Peep Show for instance) but Todd Margaret is just completely unspectacular.  I forgot about the show until I came back and read the responses to my comments.

The plot of Todd Margaret gets better a few episodes in once things are setup and Will Arnett gets involved, this season has been basically not cringe-worthy at all and the plot is more interesting, but very few shows are more than "a couple LOLs and 'hey that's funny'" so I'm probably not the best judge.

It's only six episodes in the season, so if you have any semblance of interest you can just watch it all in a sitting or two.

I somewhat forgot about the original entire premise in the pilot because it's little more than an excuse to get Todd to the UK and into his increasingly poor decisions.

Archer is so much better than Seth MacFarlane's Trilogy of Garbage it's not even funny, which, incidentally, also describes Seth Macfarlane's Trilogy of Garbage.

Homeland is being absolutely devoured over the past couple nights.  A friend of mine said the show is like 24 if 24 was good, but to be honest, I don't think it's really fair to compare the two shows.  On the one hand, the writers of Homeland actually care about plot structure.  On the other hand, Jack Beauer has to torture a cougar who's really a double agent in order to get answers this week on worlds worst show 24.

gtfo gay boy!  :maf :'(

But yea, Homeland is like 24 if it was written better, had better character development, and focused on intelligence gathering over action. There are definitely points where you can tell the showrunners used to work on 24, but overall it's solid and doesn't cut many corners.

All 3 episodes were fucking brilliant IMO and I can't pick a favorite.  I love them all for different reasons.  But I think episode 3 hits the closest because of how personal it is.  And fuck, it's just depressing.  It's also scary because I could totally see all of that being possible one day.

HBO's new series' premiere for Luck was pretty good. Dustin Hoffman was great; his interactions with Dennis Farina were kind of touching. Michael Mann's direction was in fine form whenever there was a horse race scene, or even race preparation. Lovely.

But overall, the show felt pretty flat. It tried to introduce so many characters, and give a feel for the overall theme at the same time. The sneak preview for episode 2 set the hook better than the premiere itself. Sadly, even MORE characters will be introduced next week, so...  :-\

Reminds me a bit of Boardwalk Empire where it was shitting potential but the first ep just didn't do it for me and I never really went back to it. (though I plan to)

Well if you didn't like the first ep there's certainly no point in watching the rest lol. The only interesting character is the young Al Capone, who effortlessly commands every scene he gets.

I just can't buy Buscemi as a main character. Nucky is supposed to be some political gangster who dominates an entire city, yet is played by one of the ugliest men in Hollywood known for sniveling support roles. It just strikes me as a giant miscast

from wiki
Quote
"Scorsese is an actor magnet," commented Winter. "Everybody wants to work with him. I had all these pictures on my wall and I thought, 'I'd really better write some good stuff for these people.'"[14] In casting the role of Nucky Thompson (based upon real-life Atlantic City political boss Enoch L. Johnson), Winter wanted to stray from the real life Johnson as much as possible. "If we were going to cast accurately what the real Nucky looked like, we'd have cast Jim Gandolfini."

Obviously Gandolfini wouldn't work as it would make the Soprano comparisons even more prominent, but there are plenty of imposing actors out there who could pull off the role.
