Going through The West Wing for the first time and I was struck by one episode and one of the threads regarding how Liberals deal with Conservatives (Season 3 Episode 6 'Gone Quiet'). Bruno gets resistance for suggesting using "soft money" for the Bartlet campaign and has on a monologue depicting a liberal who is tired of being weak willed and cowardly regarding actually fighting back for what he (they) believe in. Interesting parallels to what exactly is happening with Obama throughout his presidency (constant resistance and trying to appease) and the re-election (being against Super PAC at first and then deciding to organize a Super PAC for his re-election).

Just started Archer. The humour is DENSE in this show. So dense that I miss like half the jokes while I'm laughing. Fucking awesome cast and rock solid writing. H Jon Benjamin has the best voice on the planet.

The best part of Archer is rewatching and catching jokes you missed the first time.  Just like Arrested Development.

D'angelo Barksdale showed up at the end of this week's episode of Southland.   Was kinda weird, but awesome too.  Hope he ends up as a recurring character.

So this Spartacus show is good? Didn't the main character actor die or something?
It's still very good. The directors/producers/writers were smart enough to focus on Spartacus less and let the other characters bloom. This could have been a train wreck if they made it all about Spart.

The past two seasons weren't really only about Spartacus either. that points makes no sense. Spartacus gets equal amount of time he used to.

The show has never been 100% focused on him, but I do get Momo's point. The death of Andy could have easily destroyed the show, given what happened at the end of the season. S2 could have been a huge train wreck - instead it's been fabulous

the creators of Spartacus are geniuses because they saw that Andy may/maynot return so they did the prequel and introduced a character who is better than Spartacus in Gannicus. Dude is amazing and the best character on the show.

The first half of S2 is average to meh at best, as one particular storyline is dragged to ridiculous levels; just horrible pacing for a major television series. But the (Darabont-less)second half has been pretty damn good imo

I got as far as the kindly chollos looking after their grandmas and realised that I enjoy the books better, and I should be doing something else more fun. But I did finish Terriers, glad the story was sortof wrapped up, but maaan, such a shame it was axed. These thoughts are obviously being expressed on the Internet for the first time ever, oh so virgin fresh.

I disagree 100%. While the writing is still bad at times, and characters still do ridiculous things that only serve to justify some stupid plot device, the show has finally hit its stride. The first half of S2 spent like 5 episodes with the exact same plot, whereas the second half is considerably better paced and actually manages to create some interesting drama. I think it may be safe to say this will never be the amazing show many hoped for (especially fans of the comic, which I haven't read), but it's still damn good for what it is.

Aside from the Rick/Shane duel, I've been consistently let down by everything else going on in the second half of the season. The storyline revolving around whether or not to kill the kid was just  ::)-worthy.

Pretty much this. Dale wants to save a boy's life, I can at least understand his passion for that. Lori complains that Andrea could help with womanly chores instead of standing watch. ::) and Patricia went from understanding, reach out to redneck guy, to psycho snippy lady at Carl. The characters feel sometimes inconsistent.

Lori needs to build a bridge and get over herself. She identifies herself as "wife of the sheriff" instead of picking a legit path or herself. She doesn't take responsibility for her own choices. She'll bitch about Rick running off, but do the same thing in someone else's car, wreck it, have to be rescued, and then complain about HOW she was enticed back to safety, and then yell at Rick for leaving, even though he came back safely on his own.

Then again, she's about that bad in the comic...

I'm finally beginning to enjoy how much they have deviated from the comics, though.

Patricia's outburst was especially ludicrous given the long period of grief she went through. If any character should have understood why Carl would be that upset, it should have been her.

And don't forget Lori decided to go out all by herself because she was afraid of Shane. Next episode, Rick goes out alone with Shane...and Lori acted as normal as if they were making a quick stop at Wal Mart to get Super Bowl snacks.

Still, the final ep of the first half and all of the second half has been solid.

Terra Nova' Axed
Quote
Steven Spielberg's big budget dinosaur drama Terra Nova has been axed after just one season.

The show debuted on Fox network last year and the twice-delayed two-hour premiere was rumored to have cost between $10 million and $20 million.

However, bosses at Fox have now decided not to screen a potential second season following the show's finale in December, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The website reports the studio behind the show, 20th Century Fox, will attempt to bring the series back to life by offering it to other networks
