The first half of the first season is pretty horrible but it picks up considerably once it's just basically a bunch of old drunks

in my mind Charlie being interesed in tech was analogous to the season 1 reveal that Adam was in AA; the girls have such a myopic view of their love interests that entire facets of their identity go unnoticed.  We see the male characters through the lens of the girls, and Marney could give a shit about Charlies hobbies until it actually translates in to status.

this could make sense if this were true for both Adam and Ray, who both were pretty well established by the end of season one. the same holds true for nearly every female cast member as well, but i understand where you're coming from, you know since the show is written by a woman...

it also illustrates how boring and useless Charlie has been through the entirety of the series, he himself is nothing more than a plot device for Marnie. can you recall any scene which he's in that doesn't involve her?

Yea I have to admit Charlie's a bit underwritten, and regardless of the intention the sudden rise to success doesn't seem like a natural extension of the character the way AA would for Adam.  It would have been such an easy thing to foreshadow if they had wanted to, and the show usually does a pretty good job of that with most of the characters.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
The other big reveal in that episode, Hannah's OCD, was touched on in a fight in season 1, for instance.

Charlie did have one good scene independent of Marnie last season though, this was the most I could find of it:

ok fine.  It's good because Ray owns.

Parks and Rec was amazing this week.
what the fuck is this half hour target commercial doing in my cougartown?
Hey, whatever guarantees TBS doesn't go back on that season five commitment.
Wait, is Cougartown actually a good show? I thought when Community would reference it they were being ironic.
Fantastic show. But as noted it changed its premise drastically like four or five episodes in when they realized the ensemble was better than the original premise.

But nobody should tell you what's "Must See!"

It feels a lot like scrubs mixed with sex in the city. So it depends on how much you like those other two things imo.

I'm disappointed by the lack of Banshee on iTunes. I've given up torrenting for shows, as Japan is criminalizing casual copyright infringement, and iTunes is the only option which doesn't check against international  IP address when streaming.

I also want to see Black Mirror.

Lately I've finally started Curb Your Enthusiasm. Season 2 seems even funnier than 1.

I quit after a half dozen episodes. Maggie Q in a bikini didn't happen every episode, and second-string channel action series tropes and cheesiness were too much for me.

Just finished season 3 of Supernatural; it was good, but the last few episodes felt nonsensical and rushed:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
- Jus In Bello: Agent Henricksen and the Assault on Precinct Thirteen episode was quite good, but I was sad to see the episode end by UNDOING everything they'd worked to achieve for a little throwaway on Lilith. It was like tacking the beginning of Alien3 to the end of Aliens.

- Long Distance Call - a pointless episode to put as the 2nd-to-last episode of the series, and the Crocotta was weirdly omniscient through technology; aside from a couple of "my time is running out" lines from Dean, this MOTW could have worked anywhere, and been just as useless.

- Time is on My Side: Doc Benton, the self-rejuvenating Frankenstein doctor (Billy Drago, yay!) as a solution to Dean's problem makes NO SENSE; it wasn't that "Dean will eventually die," it was that he will be killed by relentless Hell Hounds. Benton's immortality is based on organ replacement -- I guess they implied that you could utterly wreck Benton and he still wouldn't die, per se, but it wasn't well-conveyed to the audience.

- In the end, Bela was a wasted opportunity, which I put down to a weak Head Writer. Sure, she had burned a number of bridges, then blew up the bridge's ashes, and then salted the ashes... but she was a good character as a villainous version of Lara Croft, relic hunter. After all the build-up, having her be another crossroads-mortgaged soul cheapened her character, if only for giving her a completely bum-rushed exit. I was trying to figure out where else I'd seen her, turns out she's Maggie on TWD.

- Stolen Colt remaining stolen - WAT? WAT? They couldn't decide what to do with the gun, I guess: IT'S GOT FOUR BULLETS ONLY. That's pretty great; hell, that's the kind of artifact DMs -love- to give their player characters. It increases ANGUISH over using a single bullet. OKAY, BUT RUBY CAN MAKE IT WORK AGAIN. Wait, what? WE HAVE MOAR AMMO. Okay, okay, so now you can perma-kill all these things, and end any character... BELA STOLE IT, NO GUN AGAIN. Okay, so she's going to use it to kill the Hell Hounds, as Dean was thinking? NO, SHE SOLD IT TO SOME GUY. But her contract's up; why would she want money? OH, BUT NOW SHE'S TRYING TO BETRAY THE BOYS AGAIN; SHE SHOULD DIE, RIGHT? Well, yeah, but. SHE'S DEAD. COLT'S GONE. HAPPY NOW? ...No.

- final episode was a roller-coaster ride, and a lot of fun, with a surprisingly dark ending.

The season finale of Banshee totally delivered.

I started rewatching The Shield and now I'm halfway through season 4.

Dutch: The perpetrator looks to be a part-time smoker, he goes into the gas station a few times a week to get loosey's.

Captain Rawlings: God I remember paying a dime for mine

Claudette: In the good ol' days...

Dutch: You both used to be smokers?

I rewatched Justified all up to the latest episode.  Great show but it should probably end next season.  Nothing against it but it seems like the formula is starting to wear a bit.  I'd rank it S2 > S1 > S4 (not complete yet) > S3.

Going to watch The Shield now :rock

Just finished ep7, shit was awesome. This season is WAY better than last season. Awesome villain, I'm liking the new Spartacus actor more, some great intrigue, etc. Oh and one of the most badass groups of heroes ever on TV :bow :bow :bow

it reminds me of GI Joe, Transformers, and all that shit I liked as a kid in terms of having a bunch of heroes fighting against formidable villains.
