Finally started to watch Wilfred (the US version) and I'm finding it to be quite good (though I prefer the first season over the second one so far)

It's gets progressively more annoying as you go on imo.

I stopped somewhere on the final season and still need to finish it but I ended up watching a lot of episodes of the series in fast forward to skip past the melodrama stuff.

I prefer the original version without all the psychological stuff and the more absurdist bent it had.

It's alright. The show has great cinematography, is frequently pitch black to the point of suffocation as far as colors go, and while at first having a cheesey 80s New Wave-ish soundtrack has since blossomed into an anachronistic and mood-setting score.

It has its writing issues, though.

Himu: It's about a genius doctor in like early 1900s in NY and how surgery used to be a huge touch and go thing and also a lot of patients die. Think House but darker.

Watched ITV's Broadchurch before the American one premieres.

It's a really darned good murder mystery show. David Tennant plays the lead detective, but it's more an ensemble show. It's sort of what The Killing was aiming for but greatly missed the mark on. It's a one murder show that follows the investigation to its long procedure, honing in on the lives it impacts.

I liked it a lot. They overused slow-motion reaction shots a lot but it was quality.

Watching Oz episode 1 and it's horrifying but there's a funny aspect to it because of the late 90s presentation and the narrator...

'penitentiary..... more like a penis system' :what :rofl

The show definitely has some strong moments, and you'll probably recognize at least 60% of the actors/actresses within a few episodes. But it just got too ridiculous for me. First season is strong overall though.

enjoyed the S5 premier last night. snappy dialogue reminiscent of S1 and they set the side stories up pretty well. Unlike last season there really isn't an arc that straight up sucks, at least not yet.

yeah, it wasn't bad.  the main cast of characters are solid and they got across that Gotham is garbage.  but all the lazy batman references were too star wars prequel like and they need to ease up on it.

The Gotham pilot spent a lot of time establishing the city, characters and name dropping future characters. So it does a lot of the painful stuff pilots have to do. Curious to see next episode.

Enjoyed the new Sleepy Hallow, but it wasn't as strong as the better episodes of last year. Show is still its best when it balances the crazy stuff with buddy-cop goofiness.  This episode was all in on the lunacy and magic.

American Masterchef is pretty scrappy compared to European Masterchef.

You got people that are in the top 10 that haven't heard of things like Tikka Masala or never eaten risotto. Wtf. Who are these people?

It's still entertaining to watch but it's more a bout the DRAMA then about cooking.

Premier of Forever looked, uh, halfway interesting: dude is immortal and doesn't know why or how. It's got nods to Highlander, Unbreakable, and Sherlock (including a very 'shippable Holmes and Watson). The way it was all put together ended up making it as it seemed: halfway interesting. Could see pretty much everything coming from a mile away.

Everyone says Breaking Bad S4 is amazing but after the first ep which was great ("Boxcutter") and basically the 2nd half of S3's cliffhanger, for the next like 4-5 eps nothings happening again and it's been kind of boring like the first half of EVERY SEASON besides S1.  I'm sure it'll pick up halfway like all the rest, but for the "best season in the show" I really expected S4 to be like a full season of non-stop plot in gear.  The whole setup of stopping the plot for the first half of every season and just doing slow character building and then having plot advancements in the 2nd half is pretty unsatisfying.

All that exciting Car Wash subplot  ::)

If a season that's supposed to be "great" has 4-5 hours of dull where I have to distract myself on my ipad while watching because nothing substantial is happening, it's a decent flaw no matter how good the second half of the season is.  The show is extremely uneven and I think after having watched like 40 episodes of it, I've seen enough to justify that statement.

The character building in Breaking Bad is so good that Walt has to explicitly admit in the last episode or three that he did all that he did because he liked it and not because he had to do it because this belabored point was lost on so much of the audience.
