I just don't see us getting a Wild Card. Only one team in the NFC West is making the playoffs this year.

Arizona looks good, but my take is that Carolina is flat out better. They're really impressive.

Your team had a good run. As a niner fan, I know what it's like to see the window slammed shut. All aboard the Blaine Train™ because the niners will win out and grab that WC.

We did have a good run and this was something I saw coming down the road. I'm not devastated, I've been a Hawks fan my whole life so I'm used to being middle of the pack or worse. Hell, this is what it's like being a Seattle sports fan.

Imagine what Brady's numbers would look like if he had the receivers Manning had early in his career...

Brady is the GOAT. Manning has the records and numbers but I'll take Brady over prime Manning if I want to win a game. Hell I'd take Rodgers over Manning in similar situations.

We know what they would have been- look at the one year when Brady had close to prime Moss. They both set records that year...

I counter with imagine if Brady ever had a running back worth a shit for more than a season or two? Stats could have went either way.

Quote
97.1 accuses Lions of censorship demands; team denies

So it wasn't just about the money? Or was it?

When the Detroit Lions stink — which can be often — the WXYT-FM (97.1) personalities never hesitate to talk about it.

And that might have cost WXYT its 12-year status as the team's flagship station — the Lions today announced a new five-year broadcast partnership with WJR-AM (760) — according to CBS Detroit senior vice president and market manager Debbie Kenyon

Kenyon said in a released statement that control of Lions content was the sticking point in negotiations.

"CBS Radio and the Detroit Lions are parting ways," Kenyon said. "97.1 The Ticket has served as the flagship station for the Lions for more than a decade. CBS Radio says it has been negotiating with the Lions a long time.

"It is sad to say goodbye, but in the end it came down to the integrity of CBS — the refusal to be censored in talking about the team and making honest assessments on the air about this team."

• Related: Follow Schrader's sports oddities in the Ticker

Elizabeth Parkinson, Lions senior vice president of marketing and partnerships, denied the charge.

"It simply isn't true," Parkinson said. "This was a business decision for the Detroit Lions. We fully understand and respect the separation between editorial and business.

"You don't have to look any further than the fact that, over the last dozen or so years, we've negotiated this broadcast deal with CBS multiple times."
http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2015/11/20/detroit-lions-wxyt-wjr-radio/76100126/
 :lol

TLDR: The Detroit Lions told 97.1 that they would renew their broadcast contract if the station fired Mike Valenti, who is the GOAT Lions troll on the station. 97.1 refused and thus lost the contract. In fact many shows on the station have been quite negative on the team this year but that's to be expected. They're 2-7 after all. Hosts have gone so far as to tell fans not to attend games because traditionally the only thing the Fords respond to is lower attendance+sales; they kept Millen for years and extended his contract, and he wasn't shitcanned until fans started protesting/boycotting games.

It's amazing how thin skinned the organization is. Caldwell has especially been salty about the media lately. The team sucks and every week he thinks he can talk about how they're "improving" and get away with it.

hey man, I kinda wanted you guys to lose and you fucked it up! Not feeling good about winning meaningless games and ruining our draft position considering Bosa and Tunsil are gonna be top 5 picks.

:brazilcry I felt no joy

Secondary played well again, despite our d-line not really getting pressure on Carr. But our offense is still ehhhhh. Another game under 20 points.

del rio is good, but his assistants might don't got it. musgrave has his moments, but I really don't like his playcalling. norton never seems to have an answer for why there's always someone left wide open. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I think he should have just stayed a position coach. we'd be better off with a more experienced defensive coordinator

I will say I'm excited about our secondary now. We had been relying on a 35yo, an idiotic decision made by our (former!) GM. But he was placed on IR after a concussion and now the younger guys are getting playing time...and I'm impressed. Nevin Lawson, a 4th round pick whose 2014 rookie year was lost due to a gruesome foot injury, has really been playing well. Aaron Rodgers picked on him all day last week and he held his own. And this week our 2015 6th round pick played pretty well, breaking up some passes and tackling well. Not to mention Darius Slay is looking like a shut down corner recently.

Even more stunning: the secondary is playing well despite our d-line not getting ANY penetration. QBs have all day to throw on us right now. IMO draft focus has to be the d-line. Looks like we're gonna fuck up and not get a top 5 pick, which means no Joey Bosa. But hopefully we find someone, be it DE or DT, who can turn this line around.

Offense is still trash. Draft wise we need a tackle, BAD. Notre Dame has a really good OT, can't think of his name. Then there's Tunsil who will probably be a top 5 pick tho...

Kap done for the season and quite possibly done as a 49er. Unless a new coach comes in and wants him. But I doubt York wants to pay him and Kap has shown he doesn't really deserve it.

Jumped in bed around the 4min mark, figured the Pats would seal the deal. Checked Twitter and see Gronk got carted off and it's in OT. Damn.

Brady has to be the goat tho, simply off the fact that he turns nobody receivers into threats on a yearly basis.

Well, Lewis, Amendola, Edelman, and now Gronk. And the Pats STILL almost won.

Playoff outlook is shitty if they don't get some of those dudes back, but it looks like Gronk is done for, and that's the biggest loss by far the team could take other than Brady.

Wonder what it would cost to bring Manning here (worst secret in sports, he's coming) and if he can convince Gruden or somebody actually worth a shit to coach the team?

And while we are at it, lets try to pry an assistant GM from a team that actually knows how to draft: Steelers, Ravens, Colts, Seahawks, etc.
