Oh yeah, there is no way they were gonna win by 20-plus every game. Not the team that struggled against the freakin' Hawks.

I tell a lie about Bibby's contributions - he did get a rebound a few mins ago. It landed in his hands from behind - he was shocked! :lol

Not sure why plays aren't being called for Wade and Lebron. Those two should be the only two guys taking shots this entire fourth quarter. Why don't those two run pick and roll plays together to free each other up either for a drive or a pick and pop.  ::)

I've never seen two superstars on the same team who seem to not be able to complement each other or have lots of plays involving both of them together.

Neither is a great pop option though. You know they're gonna roll every time, so it is relatively easy for a help defender to get over and shut the drive off :wag

Nice close out for the heat. It wasn't pretty but it was tense and heated. And their defense completely shut down the Bulls and the bulls couldn't hit shit. The bulls seem to go the way of their outside shooting. If its decent they are tough. If not its all Rose on drives and missed jumpers from the outside.

This series is gonna be a slobberknocker.

And let me add, if Bibby, Z, Miller etc is on the floor - there will ALWAYS be a help defender to spare ;)

Chicago scored 10 points in the 4th quarter. They were 4 of 16 from the field in the 4th. Rose missed 4 shots in the 4th. He made no field goals in the 4th.

It's the Colin Cowherd Curse. He was basically falling down on his knees, ready to crown Chicago after that first game and bashing Miami over "matchup issues".

LeBron did too good a job in closing it out.  If he had missed a couple of those, it would have helped Miami's record in close games.  Tsk tsk.

Too bad I had to miss the game tonight.  It seemed like an exciting game with lots of high flying stuff, which I love.

Like y'all, I was pretty sure that Spoelstra was gonna screw things up.  #1 thought on my mind in Game 1 was WTF Bibby in the game.  He's clearly done.  I see guys everyday at the gym that would blow by him easily.

I used to think that Stoney was too hard on Spoelstra but it's clear that he's just not ready yet for the highest level of basketball.

It wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing basketball but it was most intense defensive game in all of the playoffs so far. I can enjoy a good defensive game as much as a good offensive one.

My problems with Spoelstra is that if a dumbass like me sitting on the couch is seeing some things then a paid professional coach damn well should be. Why he didn't try to play Haslem in the first game baffles me. Why he tried to play Magloire in these last two games baffles me. Even Big Z would be more useful than him and he's been mostly useless. Of course early in the playoffs Spolestra was starting Big Z (and Bibby) even though it was clear that was a terrible starting lineup because in nearly every single game, they were getting off to incredibly slow starts. All the media was talking about it but he kept doing it game after game until it finally sunk in that it wasn't going to work. I don't understand coaching like that. He justs seems out of his element and scared. Like Cormacaroni said, scared of Riley and scared of the big three and scared of the media and being second guessed. I have to assume Riley sees something which is why he keeps him around (or he is an easy puppet for Riley to work through)

I think Riley just don't want people to accuse him of once again screwing over another protege when the talent is good enough to win a championship.  If Riley were to come back, he's going to first let everyone see that Spoelstra is clearly not up to the job, which is gonna be much easier than it was with Stan Van Gundy.

Oh, he is totally Riley's creature. I mean, he started out as a video editor, for Christ's sake.

So I envision things like Riley conning Bibby into giving up $6 million to play for the Heat, then Riley basically making Spoelstra the proverbial offer he can't refuse. It probably took all kinds of backstage shenanigans just to get Ilgauskas benched, given that he is LeBron's creature. :yuck

Still, it's a good thing the Heat are semi-crippled by the rest of their roster really. Even an incompetent is going to be able to put together an amazing roster for them over the next couple of years...we should enjoy this competitive basketball while it lasts.

Yeah, it is fun to see Wade and Lebron have to play like mad men every game in order to win.  It's like Jordan and Pippen again but several times harder because their styles don't mesh as well and the supporting cast is significantly worse.

Yeah, it's interesting how this team is actually closer to early editions of the Bulls than it is Bird-McHale-Parrish or Magic-Kareem-Worthy or even KG-Ray-Pierce. I mean, Bosh has been revealed as no more impactful than Horace Grant (great guy to have around, but not somebody that can carry the team very often...). Spoelstra is no Phil Jackson of course.

The team will look way better once Mike Miller and Haslem are fully healthy again and some of the current murderer's row of incompetents are banished to the end of the bench. If the Heat had Miller as an actual shooting threat right now, their offense would look sooo much better. He isn't even TRYING to shoot.

Miller has been a major disappointment.  Guy was supposed to be one of the best 5 shooters in the league and an acceptable defender/rebounder.  What happened to great US white players?   :-\

Haslem was ridiculous though.  It's like the docs gave him cybernetic legs.  I've never seen him jump that high.

Not to overly defend Miller but he's been fucked up injury wise all year. People say he can't even really honestly shoot with his thumb injuries since it got re-injured when he came back.

Yeah, it's obvious he is still hurt. He is an underrated rebounder and passer so they still throw him out there a bit, but he has no value even as a decoy anymore. The scouting report on him probably just reads 'CAN'T SHOOT. WON'T SHOOT' :lol

He didn't shoot a ton with the Wizards while he was here, but that seemed more about him thinking "This team is going nowhere, I like playing basketball, why not do some drive-and-kick until I'm on a contender and they're forcing me to take corner 3's again?"

SMH @ Spoelstra

No amount of agressiveness could turn a 1.1 PER guy into an acceptable member of a playoff rotation.

I think Bibby plays so much even though he has been terrible simply because the Heat have so few players who can play in the front court or backcourt and handle the ball and take some pressure of Wade or Lebron handling it all the time.

Chalmers played 5 minutes last night and had 3 turnovers and 3 fouls in that time. So the pg position for them often becomes a case of picking your poison.

Just started watching at the 5 minute mark of the 4th quarter.  Two huge stops by Collison on Dirk.  I think Dirk just underestimated Collison a little and got careless with the ball.

Some truly abysmal 3-point shooting really killed OKC tonight. Looked like they were going to take the game in the last few minutes anyway, but they just had too far to go and couldn't quite make it. Game 4 is going to be very interesting, I think.
