I do not understand the love Westbrook gets.  He fucked their chances last year, and I've seen him throw up a ton of bricks today.  He's also a piss poor passer.

It's unfair to look at one game. He's shot the ball very well this year.

Fucking Lebron bailed out the D by fading away from the basket.  WTF, he can turn to the middle anytime he wants in single coverage.  I wish I have Lebron's body for just one day so that I can show him how to play.

Heat - Thunder was A-MAAAAAAA ZING

Total playoff grudge match. More like this please.

May have to go a bit LeBron Defense Force on BrandNew here - How many mistakes were made, total? Durant airballing that 3, ferrinstance? Bodies were flying left and right, nobody is going to look their best...weird to fixate on LeBron given the game he had...

To be fair I said the same exact thing that Brand New did when it happened.  Unfortunately Westbrook took another shitty shot and they didn't capitalize on LeBron's error.

Bron came back a couple of plays later with a tough drive and layup and made me eat my words, but still, Heat could have been in trouble if Perk had been able to finish that gimmie dunk that he bricked.

Fun game to watch.

I still thought that was a dumb fadeaway by Lebron.  What has that shot gotten him over the years?  If that's the best shot he thinks he can get (even though it's not), he might as well throw it back to Bosh for a much higher percentage J.

Good LA battle tonight.  Too bad Clips couldn't pull it off but at least most people will only remember Griffin making Gasol his bitch.

Aside from that atrocious triple dribble violation that was missed by the blind officials, Bynum was a beast tonight and made PD look like a smart man.   Bynum did stuff offensively that Dwight has probably never even dreamed of trying.

It seems weird to me to fixate on that one play - in which 3 or 4 bodies went to the floor, a total fucking rugby scrum where you couldn't even see what the hell happened, that didn't even cost them a point - when he did so many amazing things throughout the game to get them the lead. But that's what it has been like, post-Decision. Anyway. Was anyone commenting about his clutch play when he dropped in 12 pts in the last 3 mins to clinch the game against the Sixers (just last night?)

But let's just try to keep some kind of perspective on these things. LeBron had the ball in his hands for half the game. He had a few turnovers, but HE IS 4th IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE IN STEALS. He got waaaaay more points off of OKC turnovers than OKC got off LeBron turnovers.

eh, my comment was in the heat of the moment, frustration sort of statement.  I do think his fumble was a bad, amateur-level basketball play, because he went in between two hard-defending opponents without having good control of the ball or the intention of passing.  He was careless.  That's alright though, because Durant was careless with the ball so much all game.

As for Bosh, yeah, he didn't have a great game, I'll agree with that.  But I'd give Bosh the ball a little inside the three/near the top of the key 90% of the time.  He's got one of the best jump shots on that entire team.  He just couldn't get anything ging underneath the hoop, which is another reason why the Heat need a fucking efficient center.

It's the sort of game where everyone looks a bit careless or below their best at points, because it was a fucking amazing game with top flight D being played from start to finish. A Finals between these two teams would be verrrrry interesting.

Another rant, inspired by the commentary during Heat-Thunder about what an amazing job Thibodeau is doing with Rose out: People, no matter what cliches they may trot out about 'defense winning championships' etc just DO NOT VALUE DEFENSE PROPERLY. The Bulls are as good or better without Rose in the line-up because they are stronger defensively to the point where it makes up for the lack of his offensive contributions. It's not because they are playing harder or digging deeper or suddenly being coached smarter when he is out - it's because they are just as good without him. It's depressing to me how pro coaches like Hubie and Van Gundy can SEE the amazing defense being played but can't put that together with the win totals with and without Rose.

I'm not sure I agree with that.  Like at all haha.  Rose is by far one of the best offensive players in the entire league, and you say a Bulls lineup without him is better?  Can't see that logic.  If they're playing such good D now when he's not in, where the fuck is that when he IS in?  Thibobeau should be playing big at the start, with Rose, Noah, Boozer, Deng, and Gibson.

Now I haven't watched the Bulls in a while so I don't know if that's the actual lineup they usually have, but I was under the assumption Brewer was a starter.

Rose has now missed 20 games so far, I think - almost half this season. The Bulls have the best record. At some point, you have to question that it's only Rose's heroics on offense that are making them an elite team. Or if in fact, they have ANYTHING to do with why they are an elite team.

Here's a good bit from ESPN

'In the 19 games Rose has missed this season, Chicago's record is 14-5, a 73.7 winning percentage that by itself would narrowly rank behind Miami's 74 percent for the best record in the East. This isn't to say that the Bulls are better off without Rose -- their record with him in the lineup is 28-6 (82.4 percent), a scorching mark that would equate to 68 wins over an 82-game schedule -- but they certainly aren't as bad in his absence as many would have predicted.

Although 19 games is a small sample, there's almost no chance the Bulls' "true" skill in games without Rose isn't high. Using the binomial distribution, we can calculate the probability that a team with a certain innate winning percentage would put up a given number of wins in a given number of games. For instance, the probability that a true .500 team would win 14 or more times in a 19-game trial is 3.2 percent, which means we can be fairly sure that the Bulls' true ability to win games without Rose is in fact greater than .500.'

Math!

No I see where you're coming from Cormac.  But a theoretical for you:  It's probably likely that the Bulls and Heat end up being in the conference championship...so who wins?  What's the series length?  Who guards who, and who ends up playing the best in that series?

Well, the Bulls still run most of their offense through Rose, and LeBron can still shut down Rose. Deng is still hurt (wrist) and not shooting well enough to offset LeBron's offense. So I think it'd play out pretty similarly to last year, really. I may be wrong, but I think the pre-All Star Break Heat is much closer to their true ability than this post-All Star Break version - I think they've been coasting for a while, waiting for the playoffs (since they know that's the only way to redeem themselves, and no-one gives a shit how well they do in the regular season anymore). Pre-All Star, their D was ridiculous, and perfect for trapping a perimeter player and capitalizing on turnovers.

Ultimately, I think team D will cancel out. The Heat have been outscoring their opponents by 7pts or so, the Bulls by 8. Neither are great offensively. The difference is that in a playoff series, the Heat can have their 3 big players play more minutes, and have the scrubs play less. So they project to be more efficient on both ends. And they have the ability to unleash LeBron on Rose at any time (I don't have Rose's stats from last year when LeBron was guarding him, but basically LeBron made him look like a high school player. Rose is better now but not that much better).  The Bulls can protect the rim, which is huge against the Heat, but they can't stop all 3 of 'em.

So, unless there is yet another bizarre mental fade (which is impossible for anyone to predict, no matter how hot you think you are at armchair psychology), I'd say 4-2, Heat win, but with noses seriously bloodied.

Best thing about league pass is getting the local commentators. National guys can't learn enough about teams and have to rely on cliches or assumed knowledge based on previous seasons. They still go on about how the warriors like to run and put up points but they haven't done that all season.

The Bulls need to figure out how to punish the Heat if they stick LeBron on Rose. It's a shame Deng isn't 100%.

Well, Deng is fine defensively. But even Spoelstra can figure out how to get a switch over the course of a series. People talk about other players 'stepping up' and shit but ultimately the rest of the Bulls are dependent on Rose to get them the ball and if he can't get them a good shot, nobody will be stepping up.

The other prob is that the Bulls can't really use their depth on the Heat that effectively, 'cause the Heat's starters are so damn athletic. By the Conference Finals, they might have worn down though...if they have to go through the Celtics...but I can't really talk myself into that one either.

LeBron played great I don't think anyone is criticizing his overall game.  LeBron is going to face this type of criticism the rest of his career until he starts delivering in the clutch consistently and becomes an NBA champion.

Like I said, he came down two possessions later with a great drive on two people and finished a tough layup.

And no one mentioned Wade's equally shitty turnover right before LeBron's that allowed OKC to get within one (whoops, just did.)

Rock on man.  Steve Martin is a professional, and Dell is the man.  Surprisingly good insight from Dell every game, he'll be a great color guy for a long time.

As for the Bulls defense, I'd agree with that take.  One thing you have to realize is that defense starts with on the ball defense, and that's why their team defense goes up with Rose out.  Rose isn't as good defensively at the point as John Lucas III is.

It's been known for a few years that Howard doesn't like svg.

svg isn't the problem with that team. The makeup of that team is the problem. Although its kinda dumb for Van Gundy to flat out say what he said.

And yeah I thought Howard should have left and it was foolish of him to stay.

And it’s also fitting because a jury of one’s peers can be the most damning of all. It’s at those meetings that we’ll learn if David Stern and the other owners are going to allow their league and its fans to be subjected to reports like the one out of the L.A. Times last Thursday.

In that report, the writer was conveniently given access to letters from the Maloofs’ attorneys and pre-prepared comments from the family’s newly hired “crisis consultant” Eric Rose. Those letters disputed the Maloofs’ responsibility to pay pre-development costs of $3.26 million on the $391 million Entertainment and Sports Complex, or roughly one-fourth of the salary of free agent acquisition/albatross Travis Outlaw.

This, after the city agreed to fork over $256 million and AEG agreed to put in nearly $60 million to build a world-class arena with the Kings’ specific needs at the top of the list.

The most recent letter from Maloof attorney Scott Zolke doubles as a how-to manual on fighting the arena project, writing that the Maloofs are concerned about the project being completed on time while they simultaneously cause a delay by refusing to pay for pre-development costs they had already agreed to conceptually. The Maloofs backed it all up by sending pro-Anaheim brother George on a media blitz telling the world that Kevin Johnson, AEG, David Stern, and everybody that had been diligently working on a deal had it wrong – that nobody had talked about the cost structure of the agreement before barreling out of an Orlando hotel room with tears of joy.

It's always been them. Ten years ago, when you would ask them what they wanted in an arena, they would say "whatever the city wants." They wouldn't even send representatives to early arena meetings where former Mayor Heather Fargo would get crushed for suggesting local restaurants help out.

Remember when the Maloofs stormed out of a City Council meeting during one arena discussion?

Or when, at the big kickoff to a 2006 initiatives campaign to build an arena in the downtown railyard, they shocked everyone by going off script and raising doubts about the project?

They walked away from the process and then made a hamburger commercial touting their net worth at $1 billion. The sales tax measure to build them a free arena went down in flames by an 80 percent to 20 percent vote.

Watched the Heat Thunder game last night. Even though Miami won it, they should really be worried about that Thunder team if they end up facing them in the finals. I thought it took a pretty lucky game from beyond the arc for the Heat to pull that off.

I kinda feel sorry for Isiah. One of the greatest players of all time and he's basically a pariah at this point.

I never found out why he and Magic had their falling out. Anybody know the story there?

Funny story (to me)

When Zeke was at the Knicks a few years ago my gf bought me tickets to the game and we sat right above the opposing team tunnel.  I heckled that guy so hard trying to get his attention, kept yelling at him about 'Red Lobster' which is an obscure reference to a story he told on Jim Rome's radio show.  I was sure I'd get a reaction from him but it never happened.

When he went to the tunnel after halftime I jumped up and started screaming 'Are you going to Red Lobster after the game??'

Security noticeably looked at me and stiffened when I jumped out of my seat  :lol

That was when I realized people might think I was crazy and couldn't heckle like I had done when I was a kid.  Felt bad man.  GF was pretty embarrassed too  :lol

One of the guys sitting beside me finally asked me what I was yelling at him and I felt like a douche explaining the story.  I just wanted to see Isiah smile.

Believe me, if you were there at least one person would have gotten it.

I felt like a tool but after doing it 3 or 4 times what's 5 more times  :lol  I was mad he wouldn't even look at me.

No Jungle Karma for you Zeke!
