Horrible timing for Rose. It'll be 2 years before he is at his best again (if ever).

So I guess he's talking about Barkley there? League Pass doesn't carry the half-time shows unfortunately so I don't get a lot of the merry banter about Ernie and Kenny and Charles...

Miami getting their ass kicked and now here comes the realization and anger about how this team this season was built on a bad bench and bad coaching and was never as good as the media touted them to be. Wade shouting at Spolestra in the huddle. The meltdowns if they lose this series will be hilarious.

They seem to be melting down on court as well. Spoelstra and Wade will have to hug it the fuck out afterwards, but hell, it's only one game, on the Pacers' home court. It'll be close especially without Bosh but the Heat should still win the series...

Probably the only thing I'm qualified to talk about realistically is Miami Heat basketball because they are the only team I consistently watch all the time. And its a myth that they are some phenomenal squad even with Lebron and Wade. Now that may be for lots of reason. Lebron and Wade have to take some blame. Bosh is gone sure. I think we all know how I feel about Spolestra and the shitty gm job they've done over the last couple seasons. Battier is shot. They love to grab these dudes and plug them in right as you can put a fork in them. They are fundamentally not a title worthy team. Their offense sucks. It's sucked for two seasons now. The look great against shitty teams that turn over the ball alot and Wade and Lebron throw alley-oops to each on the resulting fastbreaks. They look oh so average against everybody else and when the game actually becomes a half court game. That team that folded against the Mavericks are the real Heat. They are not mentally tough. The emperor is not wearing any clothes. He's buck naked. They are lucky to not be down 3-0. That first game was crazy close.

End rant mode.

Chalmers was Wade-like though. Didn't make any diff. Once the Pacers started hitting 3s, it was over.

Spurs putting on another relaxed, professional basketball clinic here. Who is beating them? Still not seeing anyone. Their big 3 are practically telepathic at this point, and they get insane production from their roleplayers.

Time to call Phil Jackson for next year. Because that's the only way the Heat are winning anything at this point.

Yeah its time to hop on the Spurs Bandwagon. This team does not take bad shots.

Hollinger on the Spurs:
'We're basically watching two versions of the playoffs right now.

In one version, a team has some players on the court who can score and others who pretty much can't, and the objective of the opposing defense is to send extra defenders at the former and give shots to the latter. We saw a great example of that Wednesday night, when both the Lakers and Thunder ignored two of the five opponents on the court to focus their efforts on the other three and, as a result, suffocated two teams that are normally quite good offensively.

Then there's the other version, being played by the Spurs, in which everybody can score, at all times, and the defense is left with no clue what to do about it.'

Yep. And the Spurs aren't bad on defense either.

It's not just that they can score, it's that the Spurs are an elite passing team and know where to be at all times. They're almost playing a European style, and the majority of the NBA has no idea how to prevent it.

I think the best defenses against the Webber-era Kings were the ones that took away the pass and watched their man rather than the ball holder. It never really stopped them, but it was the most effective strategy.

That sounds about right. And yeah their passing and shooting is really crisp. No to mention you have someone like Parker who is able to break down defenses and drive and score or start the pass rotations to the open man. In some ways it reminds me of the Mavs success last year.

Watching the Spurs on offense and then watching the Heat on offense is like night and day.

Who would have ever thought the Celtics may advance further than the Heat do this year in the playoffs...

The sixers are just out-manned and have no offense.

they weren't hitting ANYTHING.  Pierce kept bailing them out, but garnett was awful and allen wasn't shooting well either.  Rondo had a solid game but when KG isn't doing well it's not easy to win for them

but the Sixers were fucking nigh-perfect in the second half.  Stifling D, hitting a bunch of contested jumpers, and Evan Tunrer showing up with some drives.

It's a series.

It's been a series since the opening tip :lol

The first 2 games were about as close as you can get - Doc Rivers rightly said he felt the Celtics stole the one they actually won. It projects as a narrow win for the Celtics though. I have no real doubt that they won't advance.

The Spurs have now won 17 straight and 26 of their last 28. They are 6-0 in the playoffs.

If this was one of the big market glamour franchises the media and people in general would be going nuts.

Well, the Spurs had their 'punch in the mouth' that I've been waiting on and just rolled right on through it like it was nothing. Down 24, up 24, they are equally poised. Nobody is beating them.

If Lebron or Wade don't take it upon themselves to score like 40 or something, this game and this series is done. This is just like the Mavs last year.

Lebron has 37 and Wade has 30 right now. And there is still time left in the 4th.

Just watched it.

- The Pacers do really well when they wall off the paint, which is very easy to do when they're playing 5 on 4 (at least - they can ignore Anthony/Turiaf and mostly Battier too) on defense. LeBron and Wade CAN still get to the basket against that kind of D, but it is really really hard, even for them. In the 2nd half, they were able to do it. Over the long haul...the Pacers definitely want to stick with that strategy. No-one on the Heat is going to beat them from the perimeter.

- Wade looked like a different player. If we want to blame Spoelstra for not motivating him the other night...maybe we should give him a little credit for motivating him tonight. It could be that Spoelstra has nothing to do with either performance of course.

- LeBron is the best player in basketball, let's not get crazy about Durant because he hit a bad 3 in crunchtime
