Rivers at 10 seems like a reach...and where does he play with Gordon there? Microwave role? Or are they going to trade this?

Monty Williams apparently saying he thinks Rivers can play PG. Hmm. I hear he has hands of sheerest velcro when not pointed toward the basket so that could be a problem

Thomas Robinson was a BPA pick that doesn't help the team win much. It's hard to criticize, but hard to like.

White seems pretty old school in style.

The Kings need to trade a lot of redundant parts. They still have no starter at SF and rely on shaky combo guards to run the offense when Thomas is not on the floor. Looking at 82games, their effective FG% dropped like 100 points anytime Thomas wasn't on the floor. Since they don't play any defense, if they aren't clicking in the full court or half court offense, they have major issues.

Robinson doesn't really help with any of the team's problems. He's talented, but I am not sure where he fits in. Cousins, Evans and Thornton all want their shots.

Celtics seem destined to pick Sullinger...Tommy Heinsohn will love calling him 'Sully' at least. With Wilcox hopefully coming back, they can possibly trade high on Bass.

Pretty decent big man bench for the Cs now, even if they mostly just play enough minutes in the regular season to keep KG fresh for the playoffs, that's a win.

The problem is that Pierce really needs a quality back-up in the worst way, and it's not clear they can re-sign Jeff Green (who I don't even like but hey).

I should have known Riley wouldn't pick Jones :lol

Great pick for the Thunder though, since it gives them some leverage over Perk and Ibaka if Jones pans out...it sure sounds like he would be a better fit for the Thunder's style than Perk if he buys in

Like Marcus Teague for the Bulls as well. By all accounts pretty similar to big brother Jeff. He should get plenty of minutes with Rose out and put up numbers.

Watching the draft with a friend, we were going through the exact same "a few more picks and he might fall to us..." routine with Jones that we did with DeJuan Blair a few years back.  Almost glad he didn't fall to the Wizards, cause it spared me the pain of seeing them pass on him (which they did with Blair, selling the pick so they could afford to sign Fabricio Oberto).

Hopefully Beal's legit, and not one of those shooters who can't shoot.

Andre Drummond to the Pistons, nice. I hate the "upside" label but he definitely has it. He had a solid freshman season and proved to be a defensive force in one of the best conferences in college basketball, at one of the best programs. He's a good passer and played very well against Fab Melo/Syracuse in their last regular season match up. I don't think he's going to put up big offensive numbers, but he'll compliment Monroe (who's also a good post passer) well.

My biggest concerns: this is a guy who straight up dominated in high school, yet didn't really play "great" in college. He had a solid freshman year, but you can tell he's rather raw in some areas. Plus he takes games off which is a bad sign, especially in big guys.

And he had a horrible game in the tournament that fucked up my bracket  :maf

Mavs ended up with Jared Cunningham (24), Bernard James (32) and Jae Crowder (33).

Zeller went 17th and was traded to Cleveland, but there had been talk of him going as high as #7 to Golden State.

Howard picked up the option for the final year of his contract with Orlando on March 15. But since then, he has grown increasingly disgruntled with the organization, even telling people close to him that he feels the Magic blackmailed him into signing the "opt-in" clause.

Howard shared his feelings of being blackmailed by the Magic with the NBA Players Association last week, sources said. He -- either himself or through his representatives -- approached the union wondering if he might have a legal complaint against the club.

The goal of such a complaint would be to eliminate his "opt-in," thereby allowing Howard to become a free agent this summer.

I'd say he's easily worth it. Portland should really just force Aldridge to play center full-time though. That's the way the league is headed anyway, and they are very tough with those line-ups.

The plan was either to move up in the draft or trade for Dwight Howard. Back-up plan is having a bunch of depth at that position. Asik is a defensive force - 25m seems on the low end.

It's funny the difference between winning a title and losing a title. Last year I was depressed and fucking didn't anticipate the new season starting at all. I wanted as much time distance as possible especially with how they lost it. This year I wish the fucking new season would start tomorrow!

I wish we could get Nash but that seems like a pipe dream now. The money he is being offered is way beyond anything you would pass on just to win a title. I'm not even sure we get Ray Allen. A lot of teams will be able to offer more money although I think he would be a great fit for the Heat and I hope he takes the offer.

Danny Ferry doing work:
Quote
The Atlanta Hawks are closing in on their second significant trade of this early offseason, agreeing in principle Monday to trade forward Marvin Williams for Utah Jazz point guard Devin Harris, according to sources briefed on the discussions.

The deal, which is pending league approval, would mean that new Hawks general manager Danny Ferry will have shed Atlanta's two most onerous contracts -- Joe Johnson and Williams -- in his first week-plus on the job.
