Only ESPN could have a 5 on 5 with 6 writers

Makes no sense at all to let an asset like Lin leave for nothing. At the very least, match, keep him for a year and trade him to somewhere desperate for ticket sales if he stinks or Melo won't play with him. They'll be stuck with Felton but that's not the end of the world.

Oh wow, I didn't even know that getting him was a possibility. If the Mavs could somehow get Chandler back, I might actually have some confidence in their prospects this season!

:rofl

they did it, they blinked at a 25 MILLION contract that will bring them potentially HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS and a player that can lock down that position (the 2nd hardest position to fill well, at that0 for 10 years. IDIOTS :lol

On top of that, the contract was only $5 mill for the first two years, after which they could have traded him or waived it. And they could have stretched his salary out over 3 years against the cap if need be too, if they waived him...

On top of that, they got NOTHING for it....at least sign and trade and get some assets in return you MORANS

AND they're stuck with below-avg Felton for the next 3 years since Kidd surely won't be starting long if at all

What bothers me more probably is the classless way the Knicks sort of handled it. They could have said right off the bat they weren't going to match. I'm not as sold on Lin as most people are but for Carmelo to mention the contract is just dumb. Especially since he got mad when people were sticking their nose in his business related to the nuggets. And JR smith. Well JR smith needs to really keep his mouth shut with the kind of player he is.

I guarantee you that was because Dolan, man-child that he is, took the Rockets' poison pill as some sort of personal affront rather than what it is - a solid, smart business move. He probably went into a rage and swore that no-one makes a fool of James Dolan! etc and that spread throughout the organization. His only countermove was to string it out and be classless. To a player that has been as classy as anyone the Knicks have had in decades probably.

A true New Yorker? He was born in LA :lol

Do these people seriously think a guy that barely made the League and got cut 3 or 4 times wasn't going to test the market? He should have continued earning 800,000 bucks a year when he was a global sensation? :lol

So many great articles about this...Hollinger and Jay Caspian King especially killed it. Hollinger expects Lin to shine for the Rockets as well (it has indeed been a very PG-friendly system of late...). This is going to be hilarious. To think, I was actually a Knicks fan for a few months there after years of indifference.

It was about Jeremy Lin not seeing the forest for the trees, salivating over green instead of orange and blue -- choosing to play for a team on a track to nowhere instead of continuing to help his former team position itself for championship contention.

This is one of the first times Skip has surprised me. Usually you can pretty much tell how he's going to overreact to something, but I would not have guessed he'd shit on Lin. I figured he'd slam the Knicks organization for letting go a great player and replacing him with a busted, old champion/future hall of famer. Sound familiar?  :teehee

HIS death? My punch would kill his whole family for like 3 generations into past and future. Strong like bull!

So, it sounds like Bynum will have the pick of 3 franchises to sign with, since his refusal to re-up will dictate if this 3 way deal with the Rockets and the Cavs goes off, most likely. Cavs is weirdly pretty intriguing - they've done a solid job and who wouldn't want to play with Kryie Irving for max money?

A four-team trade that would send Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers is complete, multiple sources told ESPN on Thursday night.

A source with direct knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com's Marc Stein the Lakers will receive Howard, the Denver Nuggets will acquire Andre Iguodala, the 76ers will receive Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, and the Magic will get Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic and one protected future first-round pick from each of the other three teams.

In addition, the Magic will be getting other pieces, including 76ers No. 1 draft pick Moe Harkless, a source told Stein.

Sources close to the process told Stein and ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne that a trade call with the league office has been scheduled for Friday to secure the necessary NBA approval to make the deal official.

I don't see how that can be the best trade scenario that Orlando has gotten. I imagine the Houston deal must have been better. You get pieces that add nothing, mid-range draft picks and Moe Harkless.

Good deal for Denver though.

Still think the Magic should have just let him walk. The draft picks are worth nothing, and they'd have more cap space. Vucevic and Harkless aren't worth it.

Why can't they just drive and dunk the ball? I thought LeBron took a step forward last year, but he's taken three steps back against the Lakers this year, and Wade is following him!

I'm thinking swallowed by a whale, then the whale gets lupus.

I do think this will let the young generation of Lakers fans, who are really just Kobe fans, keep their team affiliation and just stan for Dwight down the road.  I dunno how many of them would have stayed with the Lakers for a prolonged and glamourless dry spell.

Not that the Lakers seem to every worry about that!

The thing is, Orlando could have fucked him hard, just let him walk. He can't go to Brooklyn or the Knicks or Lakers or whoever.

Orlando would be the only team that could have paid him a grandfathered max.

Denver got lucky, they drew the Knicks and thus got to fleece them out of all their young talent.

Orlando came into this with a shit hand where everyone else had shit hands.

They might have even avoided any major impact with the players by the fact Dwight demanded a trade, then didn't, then lied, then re-upped, then decided he really did want to leave and TO ONLY ONE TEAM, etc.
