Lebron is obviously aware of that strategy anyway.  He just doesn't give a shit and will beat you regardless.

Michael Jordan Points Out Flaw In LeBron's Game - Business Insider
Quote
"It has to do with his mechanics and how he loads the ball for release. 'So if I have to guard him,' Jordan says, 'I'm gonna push him left so nine times out of 10, he's gonna shoot a jump shot. If he goes right, he's going to the hole and I can't stop him. So I ain't letting him go right.'

"For the rest of the game, when LeBron gets the ball and starts his move, Jordan will call out some variation of 'drive' or 'shoot.' ... He's answering texts, buried in his phone, when the play-by-play guy announces a LeBron jump shot. Without looking up, Jordan says, 'Left?'"

All teams have this sort of info on players nowadays. Not just a chart I mean but specific player tendencies. It's people's jobs. It's how the Mavs to pull a random example were able to gameplan against the Heat in the finals. The hard part isn't necessarily identifying this stuff but stopping players even with this knowledge. The idea that Jordan personally scouted out this stuff solely on his own as part of his secret basketball awesomeness is hilarious. Not saying you implied that but that was sort of the impression Reggie Miller left the national audience with last night. I'm still waiting for Jordan to apply his critical scouting eye to the Bobcats.

I am pretty sure MJ has a way better-than-average eye for this stuff but it is ridiculous to suggest that those are the only two options available to LeBron, who is as ambidextrous and versatile a player as we've ever seen. Jordan's own scouts would tell him the book goes far deeper. But it is no doubt comforting to him in his dotage to believe he'd still stand a chance thanks to DAT EXPERIENCE

If he did - and it's a huge IF, given LeBron has at least 3 inches and 50lbs on him - it would be because of his own athleticism, fast, strong hands, hand-eye coordination etc rather than that strategy, which is absurdly reductive

I think he's saying that in his prime, he could hold LeBron in check with that strategy. Given that he's one of the top defenders ever, that isn't unreasonable.

Maybe he should be more worried about the job he currently holds in life instead of playing the what if game.

Not much happening today, some quick thoughts,

Golden State's record is finally starting to look like what the stats would suggest

Larry Sanders is quietly having a fine year for the Bucks

Lakers and Celtics should be more interesting tomorrow since the Celtics lost tonight

Stop calling Joe Johnson underrated, he's been one of the most overpaid players for years

ATL doing well against them, too.

But yeah Pacers are the Heat's biggest obstacle in the entire playoffs methinks, unless the Spurs actually go to the finals this year.  They played really well last year against the Heat  (Bosh was gone, but still).  And the Thunder looked srubby against the Heat last week.

Quote
After selecting Thomas Robinson with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 draft, the Sacramento Kings already have him on the move, according to reports.

Yahoo! Sports reported Wednesday night that the Kings have agreed to send Robinson to the Houston Rockets along with Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt in exchange for Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich and Toney Douglas. USA Today reported that the Kings, in the process of being sold, also received $1 million in the transaction.

In advance of Thursday's 3 p.m. trade deadline, Houston is also dealing forward Marcus Morris to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for a second-round draft pick in June, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

Has anyone watched him in the NBA? I remember him being pretty damn good at Kansas and he had a good tournament run. I kind of assumed he'd be decent at least, but looking at his stats...he's a scrub?

yeah, there is a bit of a logjam in Sac. Robinson's most significant play this year was elbowing Jonas Jerebko hard for no real reason. It was one of those out of nowhere plays that made you wonder if the guy is stable. Probably not a great fit next to DMC anyway.

Surprised nobody talking about that Rockets comeback against the Thunder. That was an amazing comeback and a great performance by Harden and Lin

Harden was 14-19 from the field.  7-8 from beyond the arc with 46 points. He also had 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

I was trying to watch the replay of the Cavs game last night but fell asleep before the 4th quarter. Aww dammit.

Kind of curious to see if the Cavs trade Speights today. Personally, I would like to see them re-sign the guy but no one ever wants to stay in Cleveland.

starting to think the Celtics will NEVER be broken up. It's true that there aren't a lot of great trades out there but if you don't sell high on KG and Pierce now, there is a very high risk of them getting that last injury that sends them into decrepitude. I've always thought there is some value in putting out the best team you can even if you're a non-contender though.

Yeah. Every GM in the league should have been targeting the Kings 'cause they obviously will give up whatever at this point. Surprised Tyreke Evans or DMC didn't get shaken loose.

Also weird that Josh Smith and at least one of the Jazz's forwards didn't get moved.

The Jazz not doing anything was disappointing, and a little baffling.  Not sure what the end goal in the offseason is, or if they just didn't want to mess with a playoff spot at this point.

If I had to guess, i'd hazard that a lot of owners are looking ahead to shorter, cheaper contracts under the new CBA and planning on picking up the same guys later on for less financial pain. They may be deluding themselves of course but otherwise it is hard to explain why so many teams stood pat

I was going to post it earlier but at this point its like posting the crazed babbling of a lunatic. They have a longshot chance at the playoffs and even if they make it they will get dusted in the first round. Kobe can go into his tough guy routine all he wants. The illusion of swagger is over.

They're 25th anniversary editions of their old 1990s red ones.

EDIT: And yeah, February-only:
Quote
Red 25th Anniversary Hardwood Classics

To commemorate the franchise’s 25th Anniversary season, the team will unveil a special Red 25th Anniversary Hardwood Classics uniform. This red throwback uniform pays homage to the mid 1990’s HEAT teams and features chunky numbers with a large drop-shadow and a scoop neck silhouette, as well as the original design of the “flaming T’ element in the HEAT word mark. While the team will be recognizing its anniversary throughout the season, the HEAT will dedicate the month of February to wearing the Red Hardwood Classics uniform. Each home and road game during the month of February (with the exception of the February 10th game) will showcase the HEAT wearing the Red Hardwood Classic uniform.

Early March is going to be the Spanish ones: http://www.nba.com/heat/news/heat-unveil-new-uniforms

Watching Dallas - Lakers now. getting really sick of the 'Vince Carter OF OLD' meme - when did Vince ever stop dunking? Every single time he does something athletic people act like he hasn't done that since his rookie year on the Raptors. He's been very consistent, really, when not injured / 'injured'
