As relatively bad as the Heat have been, the Pacers have been even worse. 6-9 over their last 15.

San Antonio is dusting the Pacers at the moment. This would be the 18th in a row for them btw if you aren't closely following the NBA for the time being.

Miami has the lead in the eastern conference for the first time all season. They have like 9 games left. The Pacers have something like 6.

Yeah, the Lakers really need that draft pick. It's not like they can't lure Free Agents or have players demand trades to the team.

Lebron with 38 today.  He's making a last hurrah push for the MVP.  If he continues to get around 28 7 and 7 I could see him stealing it from Durant.

Still think Durant gets it though

Listen shinobi, you don't have an MVP vote, I don't have an MVP vote.  Based on what I've been reading and some podcasts I listen to, a lot of people are still gonna vote for Lebron.  If KD wins, its only gonna be by a few votes.

I would vote for KD obviously, but Lebron sure as hell deserves it too considering how unrefined this Heat team looks, and without Wade doing dick all season.  The fact that the Heat will get to 55 wins this season honestly surprises me based on the rest of that team.  It's pretty much all Lebron with some help from Bosh.

LeBron ain't stealing it from KD. If he does that would probably be worse than Malone's MVP all those years ago.

On a related note, has there ever been a player more conscious of his own stats at all times than LBJ?

Not sure why the Pacers have fallen apart. The funny thing is none of it really matters against the Heat who they match up really well against. It's just going to have to be them avoiding getting knocked out by the other teams.

Great game, but that was a clear foul at the end.  No, not just Plumlee's contest -- Lebron was also fouled on the drive

Saw this earlier.  Should put an AWESOM-O trigger warning there.

Quote
The RPM model sifts through more than 230,000 possessions each NBA season to tease apart the "real" plus-minus effects attributable to each player, employing techniques similar to those used by scientific researchers when they need to model the effects of numerous variables at the same time.

From that description, sounds like it's basically a huge regression analysis.  Pretty neat to have this available, even if it's just another catch-all stat.

Nick Collison always looks amazing in these adjusted +/- things, doesn't he?

I think you're taking the short view here.  In the long run, an extended title/MVP run from Bron is the only thing keeping Durant from blowing right by Kobe in the list of all-timers.

Durant is the type of player who should end up atop the all time rankings. He does things the right way and could be a hero for all time. Would love to see him end up with 7 or more titles, and the MVPs to go with them.

Durant won't even be the best small forward of his generation.  He's amazing, no doubt, but come on.

Draft talk? Draft talk. After the season and tournament, I'm leaning towards saying Julius Randle is the best player in the country. His game is solid, but then again that could be said of the other potent #1 picks as well. The thing that really stood out to me all season was his assertiveness and how much he dominates. I'm not calling Wiggins or Parker soft, but both looked very timid throughout the season and especially in the tournament. Talent wise you would expect them to just take over, like Carmelo/Durant/Beasley/etc did. Randle looked like that guy during the tournament. I'm not saying he's as good as Carmelo/Durant/Beasley, I'm just saying he had a similar "I'm going to dominate" attitude.

Also, Adreian Payne is going to be really good. The Lakers are probably going to miss out on Wiggins/Parker/Randle. If so I think Payne could make sense, if he falls in their lap. Or if they want a PG: Marcus Smart.

Miami loses again. Wade misses another game. So is there any reason to think Wade isn't done as a full time NBA player?

They are tied with the Pacers again who they play on Friday.

The Pacers rested their starters tonight and still won.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10756951/indiana-pacers-sit-all-five-starters-milwaukee-bucks

Miami and Indy have been so horrible the second half of the season its hard to pick between them. I'm hoping somebody upsets them both.
