Grantland had an article a couple weeks ago:
http://grantland.com/features/greg-oden-miami-heat-nba-playoffs-how-to-be-a-benchwarmer/

I don't blame him. I blame the Heat. This experiment just never worked and they should have realized it and made some point about doing something about it a long time ago.

They match up poorly against the Pacers inside. It's been a problem for years. And they just either ignore it or do a longshot move like Oden to try to fix it.

I kind of secretly hope the Heat lose this series so Spoelstra gets exposed a bit. This is the perfect series that will actually test him to make changes during a game or series. Something I think he is terrible at.

The Heat are just coaxing titles out of having the best player in the league while the parts around him fall apart, Lakers did the same thing with Shaq/Kobe. The Bulls to some extent did the same.

Battier and figuring out the small ball lineup got them the first ring, and I think Allen and Andersen gave them enough boost last year. I thought Beasley and Oden could provide a little spark this year and there was good reason to play them both regular minutes during the season (especially after the Pacers shot out to first) but they seem almost afraid to change things up too much. They had this problem somewhat in 2011 when Spoelstra didn't shorten the rotation and stop playing shitty players in the playoffs until Haslem came back.

Great first half for the Pacers. Took advantage of every Miami weakness. Soft interior D. The over-reliance on scrambling on defense that leaves 3 point shooters wide open.

The only bad thing I would say is that for how well they played they are only up 10 which is just a decent run.

Decent mini-run for the Heat to end the quarter but as a team they are still getting smashed in all aspects of the game so far. Doesn't bode well for a miracle 4th quarter.

No, Stoney.  Let's stop pretending the Pacers will be able to beat the Heat.  Heat just beat the best team record wise in the East since January in five games.  The Heat may be flawed but they step up.  The Pacers are shook and look legit awful. Heat in 5.  If it goes to seven games I will ice my dick for an entire day.

Miami still has the capability of winning this series. But if you didn't see this potentially coming, you haven't watched Miami play Indy all year. They are a nightmare for Miami.

They make Hibbert look amazing no matter how he is playing. They made Bosh look useless as he is out on the perimeter hoisting three's or inside getting overpowered by any of the Pacers bigs. They have been built specifically to give Miami fits. And Lebron and Wade and Allen actually played good games today. That is what was especially humbling about that loss. They can't point to Lebron and Wade and say they didn't have good games.

Spoelstra will actually have to coach and make adjustments. Which is something more than just standing in a huddle and talking about grinding.

Every single year you make that complaint about Spoelstra, and every single year you should have enough proof to realize that Spoelstra is one of the best game-to-game coaches in the league.  He's not fantastic for on-the-fly adjustments, but once he has tape to analyze, he will make the proper adjustments.  Don't be surprised if Miami absolutely destroys Indiana next game -- and for once give Spoelstra credit.

Also, I wouldn't bank on Indiana getting amazing games from Grant Hill, CJ Watson, Stephenson, and Luis Scola again.

Teams rushing to get titles against aging established teams tends to fail. I felt the Kings made that mistake. They were younger than the Lakers and could have won a title if not for the Webber injury and the big money signings/trades that put them over the cap for years. They still drafted well, but gave up on developing those picks and lost guys like Gerald Wallace and Hedo Turkoglu before they hit their prime.

The Spurs are "old" but they continually refill on youth and just keep plugging on without doing any panic moves.

The lack of Stern is also probably hurting them. Refs were allowing a lot more contact against Heat players and calling a lot more fouls on Heat players than you'd typically expect in a game of this magnitude with Stern sitting in the crowd.

Boy I'll never understand how people like you and methodis can maintain an entire posting existence on a mix of character posting and warped reality. I would think you guys would eventually get tired of it. But nope. You never do. It's impressive in a completely useless kind of way.

The Spurs are just a marvel. I remember so many years ago that the conventional wisdom was that Duncan was on the side of being washed up and the franchise was ready for a slow but steady decline. But it just never happened. I assume once Duncan does retire there will be a drop-off but I'm not even necessarily willing to bet on that anymore.

Gonna be tough for the Thunder in this series. They never did figure out the Spurs defensively tonight. And not actually running an offense and just having Westbrook and Durant score just looks like it isn't going to be enough.

Ibaka (and Perkins when they're both out there) covers up a lot of their defensive mistakes and lets them overplay. Westbrook is a good defender otherwise, but Durant still isn't. He's improved a huge amount but he just doesn't seem to have the instincts, especially regarding using his length. And it seems like half the time or more he's out of position.

Plus he bails on plays.

Early to be saying this but I believe this is a must win for Miami tonight. Going down 0-2 in a best of 7 with Indy having the home court would be extremely difficult to pull out. Miami normally bounces back when they need a win so tonight should be fun/interesting.

Better half so far for the Heat. The defense is much better. Much quicker. Less useless double teams. And more Birdman.

That Lebron pass was the dagger. Nice 4th quarter comeback win for the Heat. Miami had to win that one and they did. On to the next one.

Lebron and Wade played great. Especially in the 4th.  Birdman and Cole played really well.

Bosh appears to be in another of his lost confidence funks he regularly takes in the playoffs.

After conducting a formal review, the NBA has alleged that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and his management team attempted to mislead the league during its investigation of racist remarks he made on a recording published by TMZ, according to a report obtained by the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday.

Sterling's actions were among several allegations the NBA made against the banned owner as well as Clippers management in the 30-page report, as detailed by the Times.

• Sterling tried to get V. Stiviano to lie about the authenticity of the recording and tell investigators that she had altered the audio of the TMZ tape. Stiviano was the person Sterling made the racist comments to on the tape, in which he voices unhappiness with her for posting online photos of herself with black people, including Hall of Famer Magic Johnson.

• On April 9, more than two weeks before it became public, the Clippers received a copy of the recording. Team president Andy Roeser discussed it with Sterling, then instructed an employee to destroy the copy. Roeser is currently on an indefinite leave of absence.

• Sterling and his wife, Shelly, are not estranged, as she has said. "Significant evidence exists in the public record and otherwise that Mr. and Mrs. Sterling are not in any sense estranged," the report says, according to the Times, adding that they are "inextricably intertwined" despite their claims. The report details how the two attended most Clippers home games this season, were spotted together at the All-Star Game in New Orleans and spent two days together immediately after the controversial recording went public.
