I still remember when you and Cloudy and Ryutaro's Mama were the co-leaders of Lakers-Age. How things changed.

For a certainty back then, we loved so many, yet hated so much. We hurt others and were hurt ourselves... Yet even then we ran like the wind whilst our laughter echoed under cerulean skies.

Here's part of the Insider Preview:
Quote
The Lakers might think they've hit rock bottom over the last couple of seasons, but the dark reality is it will get worse before it gets better in Los Angeles.

Despite several key additions in the offseason, the Lakers still are significantly behind the rest of the pack in the Western Conference playoff picture. Worse yet, their 2016 first-round pick is owed to Philadelphia with only top-3 protection, meaning the Lakers are in the unenviable position of being bad enough to miss the playoffs (perhaps even bad enough to have a top-7 selection), but not bad enough to assure they'll keep their pick.

...

Using shot data from 2014-15 and projected starters, Grantland's Kirk Goldsberry ranks each team's offensive efficiency based on square footage.

Only five teams took fewer 3s than the Lakers last season (Thanks, Byron!). Rookie D'Angelo Russell projects to shoot a solid 36 percent from distance -- the Lakers' only starter above 33 percent -- that is, if he's allowed to engage in such illicit activity.

If Kobe loves one area on the court, it's the left elbow. Sure, it's inefficient. But he's 37 years old. Let the man live! And Kobe's good from there, shooting better than 44 percent since 2011.

All About The Space: 28th (329 square feet of above-average offense)

To identify players who stretch offenses the most, ESPN Stats & Information created the Kyle Korver Effect -- a metric on a 1-100 scale, factoring in 3PT%, 3-point attempt rate (percentage of total shots that come from 3-point range) and influence on teammate FG%.

Korver Effect: Believe it or not, power forward Ryan Kelly (79.1) is the Los Angeles Lakers' best floor-spacer. SCHOENE predicts the team will shoot 34.1 percent from 3 this year, just slightly below average, but rank 21st in 3-point attempts.

...

This could be a tough to pill to swallow for Laker fans: on one hand, this team is definitely an upgrade over last year's roster. The addition of Hibbert should theoretically make an impact on the defensive end for a team that was second worst in the NBA last season, allowing 108 points per 100 possession. But this is still a very young team that doesn't feature much consistent shooting, and as such RPM isn't as optimistic, projecting that the Lakers will be the worst team in the conference and the second-worst team in the league with 27 wins.

Unfortunately, bad coaching and Kobe still stand in the way of the Lakers moving in the right direction. Further, the roster incongruence of having some players who would prefer a slowed down, halfcourt game paired with others who like an uptempo one makes it tough to imagine a world in which the Lakers leave anyone feeling warm and fuzzy about their play.

Projected Record: 25-57

Quote
Projected Real Plus-Minus for starters
D'Angelo Russell, PG: N/A
Jordan Clarkson, SG: -2.5
Kobe Bryant, SF: -0.7
Julius Randle, PF: -0.9
Roy Hibbert, C: +1.1

Quote
Projected WARP:

Clarkson: 5.2
Bryant: 3.8
Russell: 3.4
Hibbert: 1.5
Black: 1.2
Young: 1.0
Randle: 0.7
Kelly: 0.2
J. Brown: -0.3
Sacre: -0.4

Thompson was probably the most valuable Cavs player in the Finals tbh.

Yeah except for Lebron going all Oscar Robertson junior, sure.

On a side note the Cavs are doing some shit I don't approve of.

Kyrie hurt? Sure I'll buy that
Love? He's fine, dudes come back to NFL in season with the same injury
Lebron? Back injection my ass

They are going to straight tank the first 2 months of the season to stay healthy for the playoffs. I get the logistics behind the decision but the fans are gonna get fucked into watching the ghost of Mo Williams and the also rans which sucks for people paying what is now about 120.00 a ticket if you don't want to sit with Jesus.

I'm fine with what the Cavs are doing personally. In fact I think they should embrace the hard minutes philosophy of the Spurs. The reality is that in the East they just need to stay remotely healthy and they can get to the finals. Yeah it sort of makes the long regular season even more meaningless than it currently is but that's the future of the sport. Stephen Curry averaged 32.7 minutes last season. Yeah they can do that because they are deep as fuck but its also the right approach. Limit the wear on the stars. Try to get other players involved and to step up so its not a completely foreign thing if they need to do it later in the season.

I would rather Lebron give a great effort 30 minutes a night rather than a less concentrated effort over more minutes. I also hope they legit are serious about using Love more creatively in the offense this season.

I don't think Tristan Thompson is the 6th best power forward in basketball which is today what he is being payed as. In that sense its kind of laughable. But the cap is going up so much that in 2 or 3 years, the landscape will look different.

Either way Cavs have an insane payroll this year.

Reddick moves well without the ball and also attempts to play defense. Which is more than we can say about Jimmer.

Fredette was also unwilling – or unable – to assume playmaking responsibilities for a team that desperately needed help at point guard after Jrue Holiday sustained a serious leg injury.

Put a bullet it him.

Coach Jason Kidd said the 20-year-old Antetokounmpo is in line to play all five positions for the Bucks this season.

"He's 20 years old, and he's going to play every position for us," Kidd said. "He's never complaining. He just goes out there and plays."

Fucking Bill Simmons. lol. Downloaded his podcast today to get his annual nba over and under podcast he does with Joe House and he now uses Picture me rollin as his intro song for the podcast. I can't hate on that.

 :lol

Quote
Since he began his new podcast at the beginning of this month, Bill Simmons has found no shortage of fans. In fact, anyone who thought the new edition of his podcast would not be successful without ESPN’s promotion is deadly wrong. Digiday reports that the Bill Simmons podcast was downloaded almost four million times through mid-month making it the most popular sports podcast on iTunes and 14th-most popular.

Quote
Simmons regularly promotes his podcast on his Twitter account which has over 4.7 million followers and you can be sure that he’ll promote it on HBO as well. Unlike his ESPN podcast, Simmons is making money off this edition and advertisers are flocking to it as well.

tbh I'm actually excited about the NBA this year, moreso than NCAA basketball in fact. I'm gonna watch tonight's Cavs v Bulls game. Usually I don't give a fuck until the playoffs.

Pistons will probably suck but I'm curious to see if Drummond balls out in a contract year.

Pistons looking good. KCP seems like he could have a breakout year. Drummond should have a great year since he's playing for a contract. Dunno about Reggiec Jackson. Sometimes the offense just dies when he's running it. Whereas it looked pretty smooth last night when Steve Blake was in at PG.

This could be a playoff team once Jennings comes back

Lakers star Kobe Bryant harshly criticized his play through three games Sunday, saying, "I'm the 200th best player in the league right now. I freaking suck." Bryant spoke after scoring 15 points on 3-15 shooting in a loss to the Mavericks, his third straight game in which he has shot a poor percentage from the floor. "I just can’t make a shot," the 37-year-old said. "Just playing like s--t right now, that’s all...I suck right now."
