Such a bizarre game. Heat are first team this season to have 10+ blocks before halftime. And they're down by 16 to the 76ers.

I liked Magic Johnson a week or so back about Kristaps being the steal of the draft when he went FOURTH. And two of the three guys taken ahead of him are already looking like guaranteed All-Stars at worst.

I love Magic.

Also, did AiA just randomly start raging at benji for posting Boogie Cousins' line?  Am I missing something?

He's right though. I've never had a professional or even collegiate athletic career. What right do I have to mention a big game from Cousins, as a mere casual, even if I can probably dig up some GAF posts (or elsewhere) where I questioned how he as a monster yet skilled big man shouldn't be the #1 or #2 pick in 2010 even with Wall available and his 19 year old attitude problems?

I bet I could crossover a nun though. The robe would be a real disadvantage.

Lebron joins the Big O as the only players in history in the top 25 in points and assists. Humbly declines to compare himself to Oscar.

Quote
"I think what we get caught up in, in our league too much is trying to compare greats to greats instead of just accepting and acknowledging and saying, 'Wow, these are just great players,'" James said. "I think in the NFL when you talk about great quarterbacks, they don't really compare great quarterbacks. They say, 'Oh, Joe Montana is great.' You know, 'Tom Brady is great. Aaron Rodgers is great. Steve Young is great.' (Terry) Bradshaw, all those great quarterbacks they never compare them as much, but when it comes to our sport we're so eager to say, 'Who is better, Oscar or (Michael) Jordan?' or, 'Jordan or LeBron or Kobe (Bryant) or these guys?' instead of just accepting greatness."

Asked if he has any great memories of Reggie Miller's career "Uh, no"

Quote
And yet, when it was mentioned to James Monday morning that he would soon pass Miller, he was asked if he had a favorite memory of from Miller's career.

"Uh, no," James said, standing in silence until another question was asked on a different topic.

I asked James after the game Monday night if I had missed something with him and Miller, if there was a beef.

"Nah, I have no problem with Reggie," James said, with a hint of a smile.

I mean you dudes know your basketball.

Jordan: Complete dickhead. But he's also the GOAT and gets his respect

KG: Had to have played with him to like him it seems.

Kobe: He gets a lot of hate but he's got a pocket of greats who back him.

Shaq: Total dicktard but he also has his pocket of dudes in his corner.

AI: Young players worship the ground he walks on. Not so much his peers, but still

Gary Payton: Another guy who wasn't well liked but his team always had his back.

Reggie: Nobody says anything more than they have to, ever. You never hear even his ex-teammates wax poetically about him. He just comes off as a complete fucking douchebag every time he talks. I can imagine 82 games a year with that guy had to grate even the most patient man.

I almost posted that Lebron quote yesterday. I loved Reggie Miller as a player. He was actually maybe my favorite player during that era but he is absolutely annoying and so cliched as an announcer. He's like a complete turn off to watch a basketball game when he is one of the commentators.

The best stat is that he still has 17th highest usage right in the league. So to put that in perspective his usage rate is higher than Chris Paul, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler, Derrick Rose, Andrew Wiggings, etc.

It's very close to Kevin Durant at 28.1 versus 28.4.

And he's shooting 34%.

 :dead

I mean its not surprising that he's fallen off at his advanced age. It's just that he still refuses to change any aspect of his game. He is truly like Allen Iverson if Iverson had been allowed to keep on playing this way past when he was effective.

Also

Quote
Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott defended Kobe Bryant's poor shooting and aggressive -- if questionable -- shot selection Monday by telling reporters the 37-year-old shooting guard's lengthy NBA career has earned him "that privilege, basically."

Bryant, who is in his 20th NBA season, is shooting a career-worst 33.1 percent from the field, including 20 percent from 3-point range. He is 1-of-14 from 3-point range in his past three games. Bryant shot 6-of-22 from the field Sunday in the team's 107-93 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers and missed all five of his attempts from beyond the arc.

Scott said prior to Sunday's game that he wanted Bryant to be more of a facilitator, yet Bryant took 12 shots in the first 10 minutes and later said he was "just trying to get us off to a good start."

Scott was asked about Bryant's shooting and how it sets the tone for isolation basketball rather than ball movement, which Bryant and Scott have both said has been lacking.

"It could be [that], but first of all, he's had 20 years of experience in the league," Scott told reporters. "We might not have six players that have 20 years in this league combined. He has that privilege, basically.

"From a coaching standpoint, I want Kobe to be Kobe. Other guys haven't earned that right yet.

Oakley was at least actually useful. At least in that era of mug basketball where hitting people was considered legit defense. If I was Kevin Love and James Jones hopped in my face after a loss talking about intensity, I would brush him away like a fly.

He was imo the best player I've ever seen play the game (Jordan) but his personal style of play wasn't for me what I like about basketball. I preferred to watch Magic or Bird or even Lebron for that matter. But that's a personal taste thing versus who I thought was the best player.

Only  3 true innovators graced my lifetime fyi.

Dr J brought the game grace
Jordan brought the game to the world
Lebron made the game selfless

Anybody else just built the steps these dudes walk on. We are very lucky to have have a Lebron FYI

Edit: And I love Magic and Larry, and Nique, Vince, and then all the to Sleepy Floyd. Great players but only 3 had undisputed rights to the brand. Respect.

edit edit: And I also know Magic and Larry saved the league. But no rational person could actually pick one over the other. Kinda like Messi and Ronaldo. Once in a while a generation is lucky to have two.
