DJ DOWN. God hates the Clips for real.

D-Wade :wow
YEP. Sadly he will be historically underrated as an SG because he had to play with Shaq and Lebron for his rings and he's Kobe-lite and he's dirty and he's jowly and blah blah blah.

I love that man

No idea why casual sports fans lose their shit over March Madness every year when the NBA always does it bigger and better one month later.
Because they're casual fans. The chaotic nature traditionally of the tournament, the cinderella bandwagons and brackets getting ruined are a lot of the fun. And the players and the team construction and everything is window dressing for the single, lone, game.

I've often heard complaints about the NBA's best of seven format and how it undermines upsets because the better team should win every series. Upsets get driven more by injuries more often than by any other particular aspect to the games, especially as the series lengthen. It's rare that you get situations like 2010 where Cleveland and Orlando basically built to nullify each other, only for both teams to draw the Celtics who they had deconstructed their teams away from.

The longer season + longer series, slowly reduce the advantages of things like the Heat and Warriors recent "small-ball/positionless" styles, and then it's about LeBron or Curry just being so much better.

The win or go home nature of the NCAA Tournament is much different. One bad game will instantly end even the actual best teams' title chances.

For some reason I feel like we'd find that Simmons went crazy over all those seven game first round series in 2014. Five of them and a six game series.

I get why people like it and I did when I was young but as I grew older I grew to dislike the random chaotic nature of March Madness. I prefer a setup where the best team is given the chance to win over a series.

I mean one game and all that and the Spurs were the favorite anyway. But that game just sucked all of my enthusiasm away from this series. Let's just jump to the Western Conference finals.

This year was so top heavy that it has seemingly rendered the early rounds moot and less interesting. Everybody is just waiting for the western conference finals and that winner will almost certainly be the champion.

And then in the East, we are just waiting to see if Cleveland implodes or not.

That is if you aren't in one of those other cities and hoping your team can pull an upset.

I'm super happy we got them and not the Celtics who would have resorted to beating us up. Here's to a bunch of 110-104 games.

The Sacramento Kings will interview Mark Jackson and Jeff Hornacek for their head-coaching vacancy later this week, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Kings have sit-downs scheduled in the coming days with Jackson, currently an ESPN NBA analyst, and Hornacek, formerly the Phoenix Suns' coach, in addition to previously scheduled interviews with former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt and current Charlotte Hornets assistant coach Patrick Ewing.

Current Kings assistant coach Corliss Williamson, sources said, will also be interviewed for the position.

The Kings, sources say, have already completed interviews with former Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors coach Sam Mitchell, former Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro and former New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Woodson.

Blatt interviewed for the Knicks' job last week and was on the list of potential targets for the Los Angeles Lakers' vacancy before the Lakers quickly came to terms with Luke Walton.
Oh man, if only they had hired Blatt.

How does his fg% in one game invalidate the stats that show that his percentages have clearly gone down from distances above 3 feet? Although his stats even in the paint are 5% worse than they were before so I guess you could argue that he just in general has become a less effective scorer (yes, still a tremendously effective scorer but somewhat worse than before). He shot about 30% outside the paint in the series against Detroit and the only thing the article argues that he decided to share the scoring load more with his teammates because of this.

His jumper has sucked all year. Its been noticeable since he went back to Cleveland in general. Which is a testament to how good he is that he can still be effective shooting overall even when shooting rather poorly from the outside as he has done.

Also, his jumper has been off since he got back to Cleveland, and it's not like he makes them in the playoffs when he starts trying for real.

Bringing up something obvious that tons of other people have already mentioned ain't exactly libel.

Again it's not his jumper, it's his 3 pointers that are down. All windy does is attack Lebron since he got dumped in Miami and left for dead. That shit gets old. Only thing worse than a sports reporter is a lawyer.

Yeah, it's just an observation, not an attack on him or whatever.  Stoney and Fifstar both pointed out that he's still a great scorer/player.

The interesting thing is that as LeBron's struggled with his jumper, he's getting a lot more attempts in the paint, all year but especially after the AS break.  It's a pretty obvious adjustment, but you expect a player his age to go in the opposite direction and it's sort of amazing that even at this point in his career he can just say "fuck it I'm going to the rim every time" when he feels the need.

Makes me wonder if they'll ever just use him as the screener in pick-and-rolls a bunch.  I've heard he doesn't like that, but I'd love to see just one season where he's a better Karl Malone than the Mailman himself was.

This may be an ignorant comment/question but did him and Bosh run pick and rolls often where Lebron was the handler and Bosh was the screener?  Bosh near the end of Lebron's tenure in Miami was, from what I remember, a deadly shooter even from 3 point land.

Larry Bird has been quoted in the past on how coaches tend to get tuned out by players once they've been around after a certain point, which is why he didn't stay on as coach himself.

Still, the yardstick for coaches is usually how they do against expectations, and whether the players seem to buy into their program.  Didn't read anything about internal dissent, and nobody thought the Pacers were going deep into the playoffs this year.  Wonder if Bird has a particular replacement in mind already.

If he doesn't like those jobs, he's got enough of a reputation that maybe he takes a year off as an analyst somewhere before jumping back in.

This is the subtle racism that Stephen A. was talking about when nobody would give coaching legend Mark Jackson more credit than Steve Kerr for the Warriors title.

" just said, 'Kevin, Kyrie [Irving] and Bron (LeBron James), each night you guys got to know what to expect out of each other,'" Lue recalled. "'Until you all do that, we aren't going to be able to win.'

The meeting, earlier reported by Cleveland.com's Chris Fedor, was a watershed moment not only for Love, but for Lue as well, as the rookie head coach found the right button to push at a crucial time for his team.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15481248/memphis-grizzlies-fire-coach-dave-joerger-three-seasons

I never understand coaching changes in the NBA anymore.
That was fast:
Quote
The Sacramento Kings named Dave Joerger the team's new head coach on Monday.

The Kings didn't disclose contract details, but sources told ESPN that Joerger agreed to a four-year deal worth $16 million, and the fourth year of the contract is a team option.
