Also, every Heat game has to be within 5 points with a minute left, no matter what. It's the law.

They're unparalleled when it comes to blowing double digit leads.

This Blake trade came out of nowhere. It seems like no one was aware this could even happen.

And paying $17 million to a point guard who can't play off the ball, doesn't play any defense and seemingly can't stay healthy. Plus $7 million a year to Langston Galloway for some reason. All while still paying $5 million a year to Josh Smith. :rejoice

i'm not saying kevin love broke his hand just so he can't be traded, but i will note that he just had a terrible month both on and off the court

semi-related i saw a lakers fan elsewhere proposing a lopez/randle for love trade before this and i admit i was pondering it for a bit for both teams

The New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls are unable to complete a trade for forward Nikola Mirotic because Mirotic is awaiting his $12.5 million team option for the 2018-19 season to be exercised, league sources tell ESPN.

The Pelicans and Bulls were finalizing a package that included Omer Asik and a future first-round pick going to Chicago. Asik is owed nearly $25 million through the 2019-20 season.

Mirotic signed a two-year deal with the Bulls in August that included a team option that's subject to the NBA's one-year Bird provision.

For a trade to be completed, Mirotic would have to approve a deal that didn't include a guarantee on his 2018-19 salary. Chicago and New Orleans wouldn't need his permission if they elected to exercise his team option before completing the trade. So far, the Pelicans have resisted committing to that $12.5 million on next season's payroll, league sources said.
i must admit i sorta forgot omer asik existed, let alone that he was making $11 million a year as the Pelicans fifth big or whatever

to be fair, he's only blocked one more shot this season than i have

Having seen Isaiah Canaan's gruesome injury, I am curious how many games have been missed due to injury this season?

Kawhi barely played. I can't remember if Mike Conley ever played. Wall and Love with injuries that will lead to missing several weeks. The Cousins injury, the Roberson one and you could include all the games Isaiah Thomas missed.

Sources: Warriors could set up talks with LeBron James if max deal is available

Chris Haynes
ESPN Staff Writer

If the Golden State Warriors can create a max salary slot this offseason, the defending NBA champions could position themselves to secure a meeting with LeBron James, league sources told ESPN.

There is no indication that Golden State is evaluating such options to acquire the Cleveland Cavaliers star at this time.
Quote
A sign-and-trade scenario would be the most realistic way for Golden State to acquire James. The Warriors could build an offer around Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala to match salary and tempt the Cavaliers into making a deal, according to ESPN's Kevin Pelton.

To make a sign-and-trade possible, Golden State also would need Kevin Durant to decline his player option and take even less than his current annual salary of $25 million, as well as moving Shaun Livingston's salary to a team with cap space. Golden State likely would have to fill out its bench with players making the league minimum.

The New Orleans Pelicans reached an agreement to acquire Chicago Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic, league sources told ESPN.

The Pelicans were able to complete the deal once they decided to guarantee the $12.5 million team option on Mirotic's contract next season, which allowed the Bulls to complete the trade without Mirotic's permission, league sources said.

The Pelicans are sending a 2018 protected first-round pick, center Omer Asik and guards Tony Allen and Jameer Nelson to the Bulls, league sources said.

Clips were up 104-101 and Mavs had the ball, Doc subbed BOBAN in with seven tenths of a second on the clock solely to stand in front of the inbounder, Yogi Ferrell caught the wild pass while out of bounds so no time went off the clock, then Doc immediately called timeout to advance the ball and sub BOBAN out for Gallinari. :dead

I don't know how you don't fire Lue. The team has literally tuned him out and quit. They are old and slow and not good but they are not this bad.

They were leading the magic by like 15 at one point and are now getting completely blown out. BY THE MAGIC. This is worse than it ever was with Blatt.

for what its worth Lue actually didn't coach tonight. He was sick. But same thing. If the team isn't going to play for the current leadership there is no point in keeping the leadership. Unless of course they have just written off the season and Lebron leaving. (Which I'm guessing they have).

They got outscored 41-22 in the 3rd quarter. And so far 23-9 in the 4th quarter.

I guess the question in that situation is other than an assistant that is basically stuck taking the job, who would Cleveland be able to entice, that isn't of incredibly unsound judgement, to step into that shit show at this point in the season, that could do anything to realistically right this ship? Where the margin for success is pretty much next to impossible?

I hear you. The only option that immediately springs to mind is Fizdale but yeah I get you. There is little incentive for a decent new coach to come in at this point rather than the off-season.

What's the point in firing Lue this year when the new coach won't even be able to implement his own offense. It's gonna still be Bron Ball. Wait until the year is over and Bron bounces.

That 31% rise in injuries is shocking even from what I felt like it was.

I almost said something the other day about injuries after Porzingas but I didn't have anything but a hunch to back it up, but I guess the injuries really have gotten worse.

Crazy that in the era of medical analytics, every other franchise trying to outdo the Suns with investments in medical care and conditioning, the larger emphasis on defending against fatigue related injuries, that this problem is getting worse? I know with Cousins it has been gnawing at me after reading some of the research that kinda tells me his minute load and the pace of play of the Pelicans is probably a factor that can't be dismissed.

Although, they'd probably just use that pick to draft someone like Clarkson anyways. So, it kind of makes sense.

Whether it works or not I respect the cavs hustle. You couldn't stand pat with that team as currently constructed. I'll miss channing. He was a good dude.

Wade was basically shot imo. Nice guy but he had no energy anymore. IT had been a disaster. Not sure if that was because  the injury had robbed him of his agility and quickness or he was being used improperly but after the first two games, he was awful for them. On both offense and defense he was a nightmare.

I like Clarkson. I always liked him on Lakers. Hill will also be a nice pick up for the team.

Per tradition, the Kings give up the best players in trade and get the most junk in return.
