So since we have a random funny videos thread on the regular borehole, I thought why not create one here on the gaming side so we (mostly me) don't have to gunk up the random gaming talk thread?

Maybe its a dumb idea I dunno but I just wanted to start it off with this cool video

No i'm ok with this. I like to post vidya videos and I think this is better than me putting it in the random gaming talk. Cause I'm not really talking. It's more just, "hey this is pretty neat and maybe it will appeal to some of you" kind of thing. Sure discussion may come out of it, but usually it's more of a "I'll give that post a like to acknowledge that I'm down with it". And that's fine.

She seems to be a massive Atelier series fan.

I subbed to her and watched the entire Xenosaga video she did a few weeks ago. Amazing. It's really awesome to see an older person be such a huge fan of games like this.

First you have all these mediocre Japanese Arcade and PC game ports, which are not all bad but not very exciting either.

And then Super Mario Bros. lands and literally blows everything away.
Also cool to see some games I didn't know about such as Tower of Druaga which inspired Zelda, Dragon Quest and a bunch of other games.

Plus you could clearly tell the bois developing these games at Hudson, IREM, Nintendo et all were in close contact taking inspiration from each others work and learning new tricks with each game.

Yeah, Chrontendo is really interesting... he will really get into the weeds on certain developers and development studios. There were tons of weird and offbeat Famicom games that never saw the light of day in the states... tons of J-ADV, mahjongg, baseball, licensed anime platformers, kusoge... I love Dr Sparkle's voice, it's ASMR for me... especially the way he says "neenja"

Dr Sparkle also has series for the Master System/Genesis and PC Engine too.

Something about it is very comforting. The narration, the bleeps and bloops of the Famicom games and overall chill vibe.

Classic Counterstrike gameplay starts at 7:14 but the Q3A stuff is def worth watching too

Greg Kasavin. My man. The one two combo of him and Gerstmann back on Gamespot was top tier. But man is it awesome to see him actually transition into game development with so much success. Couldn't be happier for him. Always rooting for him and his team.
