Does Spartacus get better than the first episode?  I tried to watch but it was like a low budget 300-ish show and I felt pretty meh about it.

To me it rose from laughably bad to guilty pleasure, I enjoyed it. Still hard to call it great, but if it's fun, who cares?

Not sure what the consensus here is, but the second half of Season 4 is pretty awful. Everything else I've seen is solid.

I think season four is brilliant. Aside from a few episodes, season five is when it goes downhill.

Although I will say the first two seasons are the best thing about the show. It's mostly all down hill from there.

I was referencing weeds there not Dexter which I'm way behind on. I saw the first two season of Dexter and couple of episodes from the third season but never got around to catching up. I will at some point.

Weeds is annoying because at one point the show could have gone in a direction of still being good but they completely stopped and went into fantasy land. The last (current season) was so bad I watched most of it through fast forward on my media player.

I've already poisoned the well enough. Like I said I think the first two seasons are pretty good. It's after that where I think it completely screws itself up. So at least you have at minimum 2 good seasons to watch. Maybe you'll like the rest of it after that. I just didn't except for a somewhat interesting season 5 (I think it was season 5. Can't remember) which they also end up running into the ground right after that.

it is. all the cuts they do are so abrupt and jarring. worst example is that they seem to completely cut out the after bit segments where the crew reacts and comments before going onto the next. it just cuts right to the next bit. so awful.

the ads for the new season on monday say it's uncut british version so maybe that means no commercials? fingers crossed.

I saw the third season of torchlight a while back (never bothered with the first two; heard this season was better) and it was better and pretty alright.  I just can't get the line "hey there, gay-boy.  I hear you're taking it up the ass!" out of my head.

You mean Torchwood? I was planning on watching it after I finish up Who's 5th season. The first two seasons, how bad are we talking here?

I hate how someone already spoiled something major for me, though I'm not sure when it takes place.

yeah, torchwood.  whatever.

I only watched random episodes in the first two seasons.  It tries to be Doctor Who for adults.  Because Doctor Who is already pretty adult with a bunch of its themes, they had to supercharge the adultness of Torchwood by having a lot of awkward sex and a general vulgar spin to everything.  It wasn't for me.  It didn't have a lot of what I like about Doctor Who.  But I don't watch many sci-fi shows, like Xfiles or whatever else is out there, so maybe fans of that stuff are into it more.  Doctor Who is entertaining because it has a lot of adventure and fun and sci-fi and mystery and comedy and charm.

Season 3 is just five episodes all telling one story slowly.  It's kinda contrived and feels too slow, often giving information that you plain don't give a shit about, and half of the side-character cast are uncouth and unlikeable (uh, fat British hicks is probably an easier way of describing them).  But it has Malcom Tucker and some guy with a massive under=bite and they're featured more.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Give it time before you do.  The disappointment will be a shock if you see it too early.

Oh, really? Hmmmm. I think I'll watch Deadwood then and then watch Fire Walk with Me. I had a feeling things would be weird considering how it ended and only having a movie length worth of material to watch.

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that. I mean, they did a good job of dealing with "that" subject and now its being used as a hinge for what'll happen to the two universes. Still a great season, I just hope I doesn't become one big cheese fest from this point on.

Been watching Deadwood and the whole exchange between Al Swearengen and "The Gimp" about grabbing Trixie's cunt too hard is probably the funniest exchange of dialog I've ever had the privilege of watching.

Al (talking to himself): Now what is she doin'? Makin' a point? No grabbin' at the cunt?

Al (to the gimp): Is that what she said to you?

Al (to the gimp): I.. I.. I mean she told you, that I grabbed her, did she have an attitude about it?

Gimp: No, she didn't have an attitude. She just said her pussy hurt.

Al: Points made with the snatch grab, Ok.

To those that watch Doctor Who, is it worth it jumping in from beginning of the recent revival or is there a better jumping in point? I seen bits of a few episodes over the years and it looked shitty as fuck, but then I saw Sherlock and if it's the same team on board then I want to check it out (though I understand Moffat or whoever was only in charge of the last few seasons)

I did watch one full episode recently where they went back to Shakepeare and it seemed a'ight.

Technically, you could jump in anywhere.  But I think it's best to start something at the beginning and finish it at the end.

Yeah you should start the beginning of the revival. That's essentially where the modern take begins.

Doctor Who is like Star Trek. 3 or 4 good episodes a year and the rest of it tends to be very average but the whole concept is interesting enough for me to tolerate the lows to get the occasional high.

Finally decided to watch Community. It's pretty funny/good. I went to community college for high school, and while I'm only 4 episodes in it's hilarious seeing scenes of shit I went through back then lmao

but more importantly, I'm in love with a white woman. Alison Brie oh god, hold me Stoney Mason. I want to bang her with her clothes on - the sexy pics I've seen of her are kinda ehhhh. But in a dress, a scarf, and that crazy hair? Ride me

Yeah there are a lot of nerd fantasies about that chick. I don't really get it myself but to each his own. The show is good although its less about community college and more about the relationships between those characters. Its a good show. That GAF thread and people like Costanza are overly praising/obsessed with it, but it is a fun show. It and Parks and Recreations are both very good on that night.
