The finale of Arrow is alright. Barrowman was pretty much the best thing he's been in, and the fact that watching a known homosexual pretend to be upset about his murdered wife, convincingly, was really really impressive.

Everything's Rosie is an Al Jazeera produced children's show, there's a giant talking tree, a rabbit called Raggles and a distinguished mentally-challenged bear. Every episode usually ends with some sort of thing about the Jews turning into pigs, and then there's a massive explosion. It's ok I guess, and since its on early morning, most of the stuff goes over most parents heads, and into their children's.

A TV show about Parkinsons jokes.

It's like they took that episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm and made it into a series.

Will watch.

NBC shaking up the fall schedule.

Fuck. NBC going in. All star cast. Skylar, Bunk, Marty, AND Marie.

definitely watch it if you used to watch the show regularly.  It wasn't a bad episode and the final season wasn't a bad season.  I'm just glad to see it end.  The fact that it went on a day past Carell leaving was sad.

Classic/no longer running:

The Wire/The Shield, Skins, The Sopranos, Fringe, Band of Brothers/The Pacific, Spaced/Black Books, Deadwood, Oz, Rome, Firefly, Rescue Me, Monk, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Freaks and Geeks and for god's sake Spartacus: Blood & Sand.

Great and still running:

Homeland, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Girls, Enlightened, Treme, Dr. Who, Downton Abbey, Justified, Venture Bros, Archer, The Americans, and Louie.

Pretty decent/tolerable and still running:

Veep, Parks n' Rec, Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, Wilfred, Psych, and True Blood.

I'm not sure which category Cougar Town goes under.

Well I didn't really like how the last season of Downton ended but it is definitely a great show. I personally like the stories in Girls but the main character is the most selfish, thin skinned, and unbearable person I've seen (but that's intentional). And the awkward scenes are pretty fun too.

The writing is so godawful.

Scene: Oh no, I've spunked all my money away on a bad investment, Downton's over!
Next scene, Matthew: I've just come into this massive inheritance. But I can't take it because I feel guilty!

Gee, I wonder how that was going to finish up. So much suspense.

Watching Top of the Lake. It's pretty good. If you're looking for something to check out on Netflix then I would hit it up.

Also, it has Elizabeth Moss. :heart :heart

Yeah, saw the first episode of Top of the Lake on Netflix last night. It is beautifully shot. New Zealand :heartbeat. The pilot was pretty good. Elizabeth Moss as an Aussie is little jarring, but so far I like the feel of the show. Very strange and dark. Kind of eerie. The picture-perfect shots of South Island combined with the dark subject matter is working so far. Anyone know anything about the creator? Has he worked on anything noteworthy?

She was the first woman to win the Palme d'Or, so yeah, you could say she has.

Stay away from Asylum if you're gonna check out American Horror Story.  Asylum starts out great.  The first 7 episodes are delicious mixed drinks and strippers.  The rest of the season is the hangover and stolen credit card.  The original series (first season I guess?) is awesome though.

AHS started off AWESOME; gothic alien tale with religious and scientific madness and then by the end it was like "fuck, we've gotta write HOW many more episodes?"

Just finished the second season of the Wire. Didn't like it as much as the first one but really ramps up towards the end. Ziggy Sobotka slow motion trainwreck is executed great and I liked how everything was tied together in the end. Scenario was less interesting than the first season however.

I always thought the second season of the Wire was the ballsiest thing ever on TV.  Make a show that seems to be about drug dealers in the project the first season, with killings and blah blah blah but then take that idea in the second and expand it to be about Baltimore's problem as a whole.  Almost got the show cancelled but it turned the show into something that could have easily slipped into myopic parody and kept it going.

yeah the second season is basically a cold start. it was hard for me to engage with in the beginning, but everything starts to line up near the end, as you mentioned. And I agree with the above, it was definitely ballsy, because it forced the viewer to recognize the larger scope of what was going on. In retrospect, very cool.

The rest of the seasons don't have this 'problem', fwiw.

Speaking of old HBO shows, I'm finishing up Oz right now. At first the whole theatrical nature of the show was kind of odd,  but I dig it.

Not sure I'm liking The League so much in the 4th season. The plots seem even more contrived than in previous episodes and often don't lead anywhere, and the characters are getting so excessively mean to Andre that it's not even believable that he'd be friends with them anymore. I like how the characters in It's Always Sunny are super, super mean spirited, but they always get their comeuppance  in the end and it's even funnier. You never get that in this show.
